Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

With Injustice I'm fine with a guest character but two kind of sucks since that eats up another DC character slot. I do like it more than how MK10 ended up handling it. Having so many movie characters felt like overkill to me, and I don't think they fit in nearly as well by the in game context. Alien and Predator can fit in fine, but Jason, Leather Face, and Freddy (in 9), are just out of place.

I also don't get the very high expectations for Spawn I'm seeing in discussion about the game around the internet. Spawn isn't a DC character in any way, and I'm pretty sure Todd MacFarlane has had nothing to do with Injustice during the first or second game. Image isn't connected to WB either, and the only DC connection I know of at all was a Batman/Spawn miniseries about 20 years back. I mean, I guess most of the other guests are in a similar situation, but expecting Spawn as hard as some people do is a pretty big stretch.

My assumption was correct. This may mean we won't be seeing an actual "HD" port for Code Veronica. I don't think any of the PS2 classics yet have done it. On the bright side, maybe we'll get backwards compatibility instead.
Konami has done an HD port with MGS HD Collection so its possible but only if capcom gets there shit together.

Just played them all today. All are fun but very short. They add quite a bit to the story, though, so if they're cheap enough I'd get them all.

Seriously what is this list? It's like youre messing with us by putting some of the worst movies ever in one list and then arbitrarily throwing a couple of pretty good ones in so we can't tell if you're kidding.

This is a thing? Didn't care much for Viva Piñata, but wondering what other games out there have gardening in them.
Since I've heard it's a Harvest Moon clone, I'd guess Stardew Valley. Plants vs. Zombies?

Dom and Marcus's tomatoes in Gears 3 and 4 may count. Even if they don't, I'm not getting up off the couch to put something on.

Speaking of Gears, the Paris open going on now has some free Lancer skins available at some point during the streams today and tomorrow.

Someone call me when it's Post On CAG While Sitting At The Desk Butt Ass Naked Day so I can fit in
Um, isn't that every day?

I think we're thinking of different stuff. Code Veronica is coming out as a PS2 Classic on PS4, part of this program:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_2_games_for_PlayStation_4

These games are the original PS2 games that are emulated at modern resolutions, with added trophies and standard PS4 features. Basically, they are doing what we can already do on PC with something like PCSX2, with the bonus official feature.

The MGS HD Collection were actual ports of the games made last generation. Bluepoint games took actual retail discs from the PS2 and reverse-engineered them to make a version that ran natively on 360/PS3, modernizing everything to current standards, all the way down to UI. The native running HD ports are more akin to the 360 Code Veronica HD, or the recent RE4/5/6/Revelations ports.

What I'm saying is that it seems unlikely we will get an native Xbone version of Code Veronica since Capcom decided to allow it into the PS2 Classic program. I doubt they'll make a port for Xbone/PS4 when there is now going to be the emulated version on PS4.

As for possible backwards compatibility, I'm seeing two possible points for it happening. One of the games on the above Wiki list, Bully, did have it's 360 version become BC, and I think San Andreas is probably coming at some point based on Rockstar's track record. Second, Capcom did allow the out-of-date original Street Fighter IV to become BC, as it seems the PS4 port of Ultra SFIV (which all other version of SFIV can upgrade to) is exclusive.

Capcom currently has 13 games in the BC program, of which all are XBLA games aside from Dark Void and SFIV. The only games that have an HD version of sorts coming are Mega Man 9, and 10. Dark Void is not popular enough to warrant an HD version, and SFIV is basically a legacy title at this point.

Free Comic Book Day is today. About to head there soon with my kids. Make sure you buy some stuff too. :)

Just went. At the store down the street, there was a three comic limit to make sure they didn't run out. I grabbed the free Guardians of the Galaxy, Rick & Morty, and Wonder Woman: Rebirth titles. I paid for a Super Sons title and a Spider-Man title. I only buy comics once a year on Free Comic Book Day because I can't afford to regularly support yet another hobby. But I did get a free Captain America keychain! When did comics go up to $4 per issue? Damn!

Just finished Rayman Origins. Did the plat on Vita many years ago and just 1000GS'd it. I forgot how infuriating some of those final levels are, but I also wish there was a bigger market for insane 2D games like this.

Just got back from my local store! They were letting people pick 6 per person, we got everything the kids wanted with 10, but they said we could have picked 18. We bought some toys too. They gave us free water, free candy, free buttons, free colored bubbles, and we got pictures with Darth Vader, R2-D2, Beast (From beauty and the beast), Batman, Robin, Hawkman, and Green Arrow. My kids loved it! We have never gone before but will go next year for sure!

My wife and 2 kids went to 2 stores. First store was a limit of 10 (no duplicates). We bought some extra comics as well.

Second store it was a limit of 4 per customer. That store had a bunch of old comics for 3 for $1, so that was nice. Found an old Guardians of the Galaxy from 1991 in the boxes. Got some X-Men, Avengers, and some other Marvel comics. Stocked up. Such a good deal.

My wife and youngest son didn't want to go the third comic store in our area. So it was just me and my oldest son. The 3rd store had a limit of 3 per customer. They also had some old comics for $0.50 each as well. Got a few of those.

I decided to hit up one final store that was a little further away. That one had a limit of 5 per customer (15 max per family).

I think we did well. We missed a few, but we got the ones we wanted the most, plus a few of the stores had some that were not even on the FCBD site. Maybe they were extras from other events.

We bought some comics at all 4 stores. My son loves reading the comics, so it was a good time to stock up. :)

In October they have another free comic book day called Halloween Comic Fest. Probably not as well known. Usually not many people even show up for it at the stores.

Oh and Panda Express supposedly has a free comic. The same person did the Fresh of the Boat comic book did it. It comes with the kid's meal. We haven't gotten one. Just heard about it on Twitter.

Playing a game on the Xbox 360 and there are 2 achievements for playing on Halloween and Christmas. I have seen people change the date on their Xbox while offline to get the achievements and then change date back and go back online

Can you get banned for this?

Nope. I Did it with Brothers in Arms where you got to play everyday for a month to get that dumb cheezmint.

No. You do that for the Calendar Man cheevie in Batman too

Man, I dont remember the Modern Warfare campaign on Veteran being as difficult on the 360 as it is on the One. The ferris wheel mission almost made me slam the elite controller down and I've finished every campaign on the highest difficulty, but this one is kinda crazy

Not bannable. There's people who don't always have their Xbox online.

Only minor quibble is that you won't get a time stamp for the date you unlocked it. It will just show that you won it offline. Doesn't work for games that must be online though.

Speaking of time stamps, don't you hate when you've toiled away for hours to get a hard achievement, then shortly before you're about to unlock it, you get disconnected from Xbox Live for a system update? Happened to me twice, and just had to settle for it being unlocked offline since I'm not wasting the time and opportunity.

Took me an hour to get past that part. Infinite spawning enemies ftw.

Call of duty on veteran is not a fun experience, spent endless hours dying in World at War and am still not convinced the tank mission is even possible on veteran

The official update from yesterday is doing the same thing for me this morning. Stuck at 88% for a long time. I am not in any of the test programs. How long did it take to finish for you? These console system updates are taking way too long lately. They need to have a better way of patching the OS. What happens if you do have a power failure in the middle of one of these 20-30 minute updates?
Mine is stuck at 89% It updated on its own, and is frozen at this point. I never joined any of the preview programs as well. Get it together Microsoft.

WaW is easily the hardest CoD game on veteran. Shit's damn near impossible. I still have PTSD trying to get through the mission where you go through the trenches with the flamethrower. Burn em' Out it's called.

It was way more fun to me to get something like this legit without changing dates and stuff:

Yep. I got this when it came out because my roommate wanted to play co-op. The endless spawn points and grenade happy enemies you're just supposed to fight your way through are cheap bullshit. I enjoy a good challenge but this wasn't one of them.

Who would ban you? And from what would you be banned? This line of questioning is more intriguing to me than finding out what game it is.

I have been trying for more than 10 years to beat CoD 2 on veteran. I always get stuck on the mission in the French town where you move from house to house, and it ends up with you climbing a tower and having to snipe mortar teams storming the town from every direction.

I really just think it's impossible.

1) Microsoft.
2) Xbox Live.

Can you be banned for manipulating your system to get achievements you would not qualify for? Sounds like a legit question to me.

Seems similar to me to when people manipulate dates and offline progress to have 100+ day achievement streaks. It violates the spirit of the challenge, but who's getting paid to police that and what harm is it causing?

In my mind, changing the date on your console to trigger a bonus is no worse than playing on easy mode instead of normal mode in order to get through a game. It's supposed to be an enjoyable experience, and I assume that the developers do these things to make their games more fun. So, I wouldn't think they would penalize people for doing it.

Cars and balls are this week's big releases. Also, I added an official trailer to each release - just click on the game name to see it. I am going to do this from now on, in case you are curious about a certain title. (Clicking the price still brings you to a purchase link.)

FH3: Hot Wheels and NBA Playgrounds for me. Maybe also Butcher. You guys?
I saw some gameplay footage of Butcher. It's barely more graphically advanced than Adventure. I had a hard time telling what was going on.

I looked at Demon's Crystals (thanks for the YT links!) and that $5 price tag has to be a typo. That game has great looking graphics.

I loaded up Pinball FX 2 Windows 10 Edition and it asks for my age.  I can't seem to figure out how to fill in the blank though.  I can't navigate to it with the controller, I can't click on it with the mouse, and I think I forgot to try to Tab to it with the keyboard.  Any ideas?

EDIT - I just tried it on my laptop and I'm not able to Tab into the field or touch the screen to make it work.

Probably most interested in Hot Wheels and Demon's Crystals. Elliot's Quest looks intriguing from the trailer as well.
