Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Hell yay! I love this series and while i think they made this one a bit too....'accessible' (it basically holds your hand and leads you to the end of missions) they did an amazing job and it has great bonus side missions.

Between Game Pass and the fact that i will never finish my backlog, I'm starting to get real picky about buying digital games, no matter how much it costs. Anyone have any opinions on these games?

Polychromatic

Aqua kitty

Breach and Clear Deadline

Cel Damage hd

Exile's End
I was going to buy Cel Damage until I read local only multiplayer.......

I remember buying that game and trading it in quickly on Gamecube.

Most of Crypt of the Necrodancer's achievements are super hard. There are two with 0.00% completion. It's pretty good though, definitely a lot of design influence from Binding of Isaac, but you can decide some of the random weapons and power your character up through upgrades you unlock as you get farther into the randomized dungeons.

I'd buy Cel Damage if they added something to it, as is you may as well just play the original version if you have it. A couple new characters or something would be fun. There was a video a few months back showing a bunch of stuff from a sequel that was worked on but never released. If some of that could have been brought over it'd be great.

Absolution was the first and only Hitman game I've played.  Pretty good to me for as a stealth game, just had a terrible story.

Owning your faves on multiple systems isn't unheard of here. The best way to justify it is to say that you don't have to hook up system "A" anymore when you have it on system "B" which is always hooked up. Then you have to have it on system "C" which is a handheld because you want to be able to play it on the go. And then you buy it again on your phone aka system "D" when the mobile port comes out.
Not everyone does PlayAnywhere titles unfortunately. I've done the same with Pinball FX 2 on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, aaand Android lol.

I bought Rogue Legacy. That and Rocket League were my go to PS+ games for awhile and I'm letting that lapse soon.

Dad Beat Dads would probably be a instant buy for me at $1 but it doesn't have online vs and It's all local. I don't have a lot of local friends so crazy enough I'm probably going to pass.

Cel Damage would have been another instant buy if it had online as I enjoyed that game on the Cube when I was a kitten.

My drive got messed up during one of the many useless xbox dash or system updates and will only read a few certain discs. So I have no use for disc based games, no matter how cheap they are I can't use them, so it's digital only. Now you're all caught up.
Does it recognize the disc at all? Like, can it tell you what game is in the drive but just can't read it or does it not even realize there's a disc in the drive? If it's the former, I've heard that you can install a game from the game store via internet rather than from the disc. I'm not 100% sure on that, and it largely depends on whether you have a data cap or the state of the drive, sorry. Figured I'd throw it out there just on the off chance that everything lines up perfectly.

I had this same issue. I had to power cycle the XB1 to fix it. Also if you have it set to instant on you might need to change it to power saver as some consoles are having issues reading disc with that. Change it to power saver then power cycle the console and see if that helps. :( Hopefully it isn't the disc drive as I thought that might be my issue as well.

So did anyone here end up buying Horse Racing 2016?

If so, what'd you think?
It is beyond awful. It's worse than a PSone shovelware title and looks the part. The game is pretty much just hitting the A button as fast as possible and steering around corners for 50 races. That being said, the achievements are very easy, so that's the only possible reason anyone should even consider it. I'd recommend playing it in small doses to avoid muscle cramps though.

There is (was?) a demo for it that you can also unlock a decent chunk of GS from. Takes about 10 races to get the hang of it and not whipping your horse to death.

Playing it reminded me that we need a new Gallop Racer game for this gen.

Since some people were talking about Fallout Shelter again, I'm going to leave this here to discourage you from going for the Legendary Dwellers achievement and crush your spirits.

That number in the lower right corner is my Stats screen showing the number of lunchboxes I had to open before getting my 20th Legendary. Even more ridiculous, I got 2 of them from Quests, so that was only 18 from 544 lunchboxes.

And I wondered why there was a need for a note (on my office refridgerator): "if its not yours, please dont take it".

I guess some people just don't read all the posts, even just two or three pages back before jumping in with unwarranted snark. I explained why I have no use for disc games already, but since you didn't read it I'll go ahead and retype it here, just for you...mmmk?

As long as you don't tell me to read the FAQ...😉

I honestly didn't know and you didn't care to repeat it when you said a $1.99 price wasn't going to work.

Contact Microsoft. They are practically giving away Xbox's through GameStop. They may just give you a new one for being a loyal customer.

https://support.xbox.com/en-US/browse/xbox-one/warranties-and-repair

But seriously, hundreds of CAGs have new Xbox1s this past week by spending as little as $140 through GameStop Tech trade in. Just yesterday, I helped my brother in law get 1.

24 hour Forzathon started this morning in Horizon 3, ya'll. No car to earn, but the challenges look pretty simple.

Edit: Took less than 20 minutes to do them all. The only one that really takes any effort is the one requiring 5 showoff skills which require you to pass someone ( In a race, I believe) as you drift. I did this in the Yarra Valley Cross Highway Trail Event. Its on the upper right part of the map on that long divided highway. Rainy weather and a lot of mild turns make it pretty easy to do this. You can knock out two challenges with this since one is just to finish any race in the Racemo.

Anyone else think that this weekly sale is Microsoft's ploy to draw attention away from the Steam Summer Sale?

I can recommend the following games from other platforms on which I already own them: Aqua Kitty, Bit Dungeon +, Cel Damage, Letter Quest, Paranautical Activity, and Quest of Dungeons.

Exile's End, Saturday Morning RPG, The Bridge, and Unnamed Fiasco have decent pedigrees from what I've been told.

Anyway, buy Cel Damage and you'll have your first (unofficial) original Xbox game on Xbox One. Take that, backwards compatibility!

I liked the start of Saturday Morning RPG, but it was announced for Xbox a couple days after I started it on Steam (probably owned from a bundle), so I didn't finish it. Haven't picked it up yet and may wait for another sale. I've been getting better at playing through my backlog before buying new games but drunk bought a bunch of VR games Sunday that I probably could've gotten free if I waited a couple weeks.

After reading reviews I've come to the conclusion most of the indie games on sale are trash, especially since I'm not into those arena type games.

I'll recommend Guns Gore and Cannoli though.

Probably picking up Letter Quest, Rogue Legacy and Saturday Morning RPG.

Also pissed off cause I thought Marvel Heroes Omega released today not the 30th.

The 5 most purchased games during this sale will be added to the Game Pass on July 1st.

Man why did you have to bring this up?! Haha now we have both GWG and Game Pass to worry about when we buy games. I did not even consider that so very appropriate sound effect.

Thanks for the heads up. I was playing FH2 this morning. If not for this post I likely would have missed it.

Goddamned the trade thread is hilarious sometimes. There's definitely good deals there quite often, but there's also that guy still trying to sell Zoo Tycoon for $15, even though anyone who wanted it could get it for free without any effort.

My favorite part of the post is this though "Price firm, no bargain, can't be bothered to reply" like he's just inundated with all these messages about his overpriced garbage that he can't be bothered to reply to people who want a discount on said garbage.

End morning hate rant

I looked over there and best I can tell you need to have some tech that GS wants to get it that cheap? I wouldn't mind upgrading my FAT for a few bucks but the cheapest XBox One S is $249.99 for the Minecraft bundle. They are only giving $75 for the fat and either $15 and/or $25 extra. Maybe a $50 GC but not everyone is getting them it seems. I don't have much old tech left to trade. Didn't see anything that qualified anyway.

The best part is that he used to have the price at $10.

This isn't the GameStop trade thread so I'll just say this and leave the discussion to be sorted out over there.

Buy 4 Chromecasts for $30 at Target/Walmart or price match them anywhere else. That's $120plus tax. They trade in for $237 with the $5 bonus coupon.

Buy the Minecraft xbox1s with a $50 GameStop gift card. Your total will be $250ish minus your $237 credit. Pay the difference and you have completed the Xbox1S purchase for about $140 out of pocket.

And jimbo, you will get $115 for your Xbox1 without refurb and with the $15 Monthly pro coupon.

I'm upgrading from the 360 to the One and was wondering what the best (cheapest) deals for gold are now. I remember cdkeys, but I don't know if it's different now. Also, what's the easiest method of transferring over saves and such? I've heard about the cloud, but I was hoping usb could work too. Sorry for the nooby questions, I'm planning on trading in my 360 today, so I want to get everything transferred fast.

For saves, you will just go to each individual 360 save and copy them to the cloud. That is the only way saves for BC games work on XB1.

For Gold, you can usually get one for around $42 in the trade thread.

Congrats on getting an S.

Which is what the person I quoted said, so I was reassuring them that they weren't crazy thinking it was announced for today. The PS4 version released last month in open beta, so that's a poor way for the developers to handle that situation. I've been playing it a lot on PS4 since then and will jump into the Xbox One version when it's out.

How does this play? I've been reading about framerate issues, but i'm hoping that's not the case.

Diablo III: Rise of the Necromancer DLC releases 6/27 for $14.99. (Compatible w/ both the vanilla and Ultimate Evil Edition.)

The "Eternal Collection" is everything (Ultimate Evil+Necromancer) bundled for $39.99.

TATS.

https://youtu.be/2ad3hvpG1jg
I had been hearing conflicting numbers regarding the Necro standalone price. $20 would have been too much for me, and $10 would have been a great deal. $15 for what's included is right there at the max I was willing to pay. I guess that'll do.

Looks like we got fucked in regards to Hitman.

PlayStation has the prologue AND first full episode up for free (Paris), whereas apparently as of now we're only getting the Prologue.

Seeing a list of games I've never heard of with mostly very low prices makes me extremely happy. Well done, Bloomy and mrclutch...and I guess MS, too.

Gems of War got an update, fixes a few things including locked achievements! Guild Wars are also fixed, albeit still incredibly cheap.
Thank goodness. Time to put that game to bed (again). I see they added other achievements, but it seems they work retroactively so I'll be good after Guild Wars this week.

$24 for Hitman? Yay or nay
YAY. If you like stealth games at all and the idea of a murder sandbox appeals to you, get it. I bought it and due to the episodic release schedule kind of got into other things, but I played the first two areas alone for like 25 hours just completing them in different ways.

Not a bad little indie sale, realllllly hope we get a Marvel Puzzle Quest sale someday....maybe with Spidey coming out soon it could happen.
Marvel Puzzle Quest was the first thing I looked for when I saw the long list. Then Friday the 13th, cause you never know.

Thanks, but again, I only want digital, so even if it was $1.99 at GameStop it wouldn't help me any.
Oh, man. Seeing you explain over and over again that you can only buy digital games reminded me of this guy:

The only way I'd try to get that achievement is from the PC clock glitch. Even then, the prospect of grinding out several hundred lunchboxes to get a completion that would only really matter to me (and only for about four seconds) just wasn't worth it. I understand that they wanted to incentivize purchases, but the rate of legendaries was so low that I think it actually dissuaded people from buying them.

To move saves you need to go into storage and copy every single save of every single game in the cloud. You need Gold to do that on X360, you won't need that through BC on X1.

Absolution was the first and only Hitman game I've played. Pretty good to me for as a stealth game, just had a terrible story.
If you're mostly in for story, Hitman won't really change that since it's not a more linearly-designed game. It's all about exploring the variety of things to do in each sandbox level with the challenges giving you hints of what to go for to upgrade your mastery rank on each level, which unlocks more items and options for your loadout set-up.
