Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Hows Table Top Racing? Is it like Mario Cart ie power ups? Also any recommendation on any of the transformer games?
I have Tabletop Racing on my Shield TV. As a mobile game with controller support, it was decent for the price, but it's not worth $10. You definitely won't get Mario Kart level of quality.

Alright I played a lot of these:

Another World - side scrolling adventure game that doesn't hold up particularly well and the controls can be spotty, super easy achievements - 2 hour completion

Table Top Racing: World Tour - great kart style racer, a ton of content, achievements are not easy or at least time consuming

#killallzombies - fun little twin stick shooter, reminds me of zombie apocalypse if you ever played it, gets repetitive quick but fun in short bursts, achievements are sorta a pain

Broken Sword 5 - fun adventure game, I liked it a lot and the achievements were easy, 9 hours to complete it, I enjoyed the story

Clusterpuck - easy achievements, not much else unless you have someone to play against in couch co-op

Dad Beat Dads - a good couch co-op game with a unique style, achievements also really easy, better than clusterpuck

Dynamite Fishing - boring game, but it's cheap so buy it anyways, I didn't like it so I didn't play much and the achievements are a grind

Emily Wants to Play - spooky game with creepy dolls, I am a wuss when it comes to scary games but I managed to complete this one, if you like scary stuff and jump scares you will like it. I used a guide and it still has creepy moments

Fortified - fun online co-op shooter, no one will be playing online though which is unfortunate

Guns, Gore and Cannolis - side scrolling beat em up, easy achievements, decent

Her Majesty's Spiffing - excellent adventure game with a good sense of humor, short, easy achievements

Level 22 - stealth puzzle game? kinda fun and easy achievements

Polychromatic - twin stick Geometry Wars style game, I liked it, achievements are sorta difficult but doable

Rogue Legacy - great game, buy it if you are interested at all

Saturday Morning RPG - unique RPG lite, kinda like Costume Quest with the battle system, cheasy 80's cartoon kind of story but just didn't hold my attention, probably worth a shot for most people

Shred It - endless runner style snowboarding game, easy achievements including a free 500 Gamerscore title update, controls can be frustrating at times but mostly a decent pick up and play a few runs type game

Stories of Bethem - like a more puzzle heavy top down Zelda style game, pretty long and only so so in my opinion, a pretty long completion

Vertical Drop Heroes - very good game, like Rogue Legacy lite

I played more but those are some of the less discussed ones, hope it helps some of you

Thanks for the write up. You sold me on Spiffing, made me want to play Dad Beats Dad, and motivated me to go back and finish Emily Wants to Play. I'm also picking up Laserlife and Cel Damage HD for the easy completions

Anybody else have a One S and an HDR TV that don't jive? I recently bought an admittedly cheap 4K HDR TV that seems to work amazingly with its included smart TV streaming apps, but looks like dookie when HDR content comes through on the Xbox. This appears to be a fairly common issue not just with my TV but with many different sets from all that I've Googled, though since I only now stepped into this arena, I'm not familiar with any recent developments.

So yeah, how's that HDR working for yah?

If you like these types of games I highly recommend this one. One of my favorite games of the year so far.

No BC update AGAIN?

C'mon MS, it's been 3 days short of a month since the last batch already. Get your shit together.
The program is completely off the rails now. It is incredibly frustrating. I think it is absolute bullshit that they cannot put games out on a weekly basis anymore. And I've said it before, but I'll say it again, I think it is bizarre that they cannot stack BC games with mainline Xbox news/events. "We don't want it to compete with our other message today." :speaktothehand:

MS PLS.

I assumed the OG xbox bc program would use the same team that the 360 bc program does. That would explain a lot but I am just pulling that out of thin air.

Bear in mind that this has been our rationalization for why we started seeing fewer announcements (AFAIK). As someone who works in "IT," sometimes it is pretty frustrating when people are hovering over me when I'm trying to fix a problem.

"When will the server be back up?"

"I'm still working with $VENDOR trying to resolve $ISSUE."

"How long will that take to fix?"

"Until it's fixed."

This is how I envision engineers and testers are working at MS to make things work well enough to release to the wild. It could mean that the entire team is bogged down with issues like this.

Or BC is dead. #LONGLIVEBC

I guess some people just don't read all the posts, even just two or three pages back before jumping in with unwarranted snark. I explained why I have no use for disc games already, but since you didn't read it I'll go ahead and retype it here, just for you...mmmk?

My drive got messed up during one of the many useless xbox dash or system updates and will only read a few certain discs. So I have no use for disc based games, no matter how cheap they are I can't use them, so it's digital only. Now you're all caught up.
I've had an issue with my xbox reading discs. Do you hear a grinding noise when you insert a disc?

The way I get around it not reading discs is to slightly insert the disc about halfway, holding it so it doesn't pull it in completely. Then when it increases the speed at which it attempts to pull the disc in, let it go. Works like a charm every single time.

You need HDR 10 for the Xbox One S and I'd bet it's safe to assume that will be the case with the Xbox One X. That's why there are so many cheap $300-400 4k tvs. They don't have the HDR you need so buyer beware. This article helped me navigate my purchase although it's dated a bit now and I went with the Samsung KS8000. For what it's worth I think the HDR is a better selling point than the 4k, Horizon 3 and Injustice 2 really stand out with it.

The issue is my TV does indeed (or at least is supposed to) support HDR10 and appears to display it properly on anything that isn't the Xbox.

Are you using the included Xbox One S HDMI cable? My LG 65" tv is entry level but does support HDR 10. However, when I hooked up my One S using my HDMI in the wall, it crapped out trying to display any HDR content. Flickering, bad IQ, not enough bandwidth in the HDMI cable I had been using fine for my old Phat Xbox one.

Switched to the apparently higher bandwidth HDMI in the Xbox packing materials, worked perfectly.

Dad Beats Dad has bots apparently if you can't scare up friends to play against.

Actually ordered an HDMI cable earlier today thinking that could be the problem. We'll see. Let's hope. The support forums for the TV say otherwise.
Hisense I'm guessing?
LeEco. Understandably, the immediate response is disbelief. "No way that thing supports HDR10." However, as I've said, it actually does, just not with the One S at the moment. Hoping the company releases an update (super unlikely), the cable does the trick, or Microsoft finds a way to get it fixed. It at least appears to be the problem of the console, not the TV.

I'm not going to have enough points by then, but one month of Gold for 4900 points is still damn good for the discounts.
The 12 months for 29000 is easily the best, even though its not on sale. Considering it only takes ~3months to get the points, that's your best bet. You're getting each month for a little more than 2400 points. Even at It's sale price, you're paying double for a single month. Assuming you have a Gold membership to last you, that is the way to go.

Good Luck with it a quick google brought up some Consumer Reports review that had some issues with the HDR that kind of sounds like what you are talking about.

http://www.consumerreports.org/lcd-led-oled-tvs/leeco-55-inch-tv-review/

Even on my samsung I had to adjust some things to really notice the difference in the HDR, maybe it can give you some ideas

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-best-settings-for-hdr-on-samsung-4k-tvs

Some TVs also require you to use a specific HDMI port. I kept using the 4K details or whatever it's called on the Xbox One S video output settings to check to get mine working. Drove me nuts because whatever I changed on my TV (a Samsung 55KU6300), nothing would change all the red and yellow marks I was getting on that page.

Finally found out from researching that it only works on my HDMI port 1 with the UHD Color option set to "on". Then bam, all green checkmarks.

I'm not necessarily asking for troubleshooting advice because I've already looked into anything I could think of. Any and all settings on the Xbox and the TV are properly set. But thanks anyway for the help I've been given.

I'm more trying to see if anyone has had similar issues either now or in the past so I can see if anything has changed and what did it.

I have no idea if this thread has anything useful for you Z-Saber, but I saw this on GAF the other day. Seems a chap was having HDR problems as well. Perhaps there is a solution or two in there:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1392025
Happen to notice one post by some awp69 dude in that thread? Sounds familiar :)

Actually that post reminded me of one more suggestion. You may not get true HDR to come through if you are going through a receiver. Not all receivers pass it through correctly (including mine). I ended up using optical for my audio.

I have a Samsung that I had to turn on UHD color to get all the green arrows to check on the Xbox setup for 4k stuff. I don't know if that has anything to do with your situation. I also had a lot of flickering with my PS4 Pro and had to specifically set it to the RGB mode (I think) instead of auto mode. I just Googled around on both issues until I found solutions. 4k and HDMI stuff are so finicky, it seems...

Well direct quote from that article I saw makes it sound like it could be your tv and not the Xbox One S. Apps will work fine showing 4k/HDR content but not devices until they maybe firmware upgrade it, so maybe look at the TVs firmware

"This isn't just a problem with midpriced TVs—we saw the same thing late last year with Sony's flagship Z-series TV. Then as now, we believe it will result in many viewers thinking they're watching HDR when they're really not.

Again, this doesn't apply to HDR content you stream from a service such as Amazon or Netflix directly from the LeEco TV.

When we contacted LeEco, a spokesman said the company would be issuing a firmware update to address this problem and to offer some additional fine-tuning capabilities in the HDR mode. The update wasn't available at the time we completed our review, so we can't comment on its effectiveness.

I had already seen that in the review before getting the TV, but thank you for the link and quote. Perhaps my belief that its the box is grounded in my hope that it isn't the TV, but reading about similar situations with much pricier and recognizable brands, such as with blink's link, makes me believe that even though there is the likely possibility it's just the TV doing something wrong, it feels more like Sony and Microsoft are still working out how to communicate properly with TVs.

The Xbox has all green marks for everything on the 4K page, I'm using the first input on the TV (though I've tried the rest as well), and the input is set to accept a 4K 60Hz signal in the TV settings. There's nothing else to my knowledge that can be adjusted within the TV or Xbox settings to further enable HDR beyond that. I've also tried switching inputs while HDR is on, turning HDR on and off on both the Xbox and TV, hard resetting both, unplugging and plugging the HDMI cable, and anything else I could think of or read.

Anyway, I'll wait on the cable coming in tomorrow and try screwing around with everything more tonight. Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the link, the KS8000 keeps coming up as the best bet, sadly they don't come any larger than 65"

Two things to note, re: HITMAN

1) The Requiem DLC pack (NOT included in the digital Season 1 package, was a pre-order bonus) is only on sale on Xbox (and not Steam/PS4) for some reason, so might be wise to grab it in case it doesn't go on sale again anytime soon.

2) HITMAN is confirmed to be getting a Xbone X upgrade (probably similar to the PS4 Pro upgrade, if not better) so keep that in mind as well.

To bring it full circle, it's also supposed to already support HDR.

Ended up getting:

Stardew Valley

The Turing Test

Emily Wants To Play

(mostly all for my sister)

thinking about getting:

Rogue Legacy

#KillAllZombies

Saturday Morning RPG

Oddworld New & Tasty

Lost Sea

Sylvio

if anyone can talk me out of or into any of these, thanks

Finally have regular office hours and don't feel like a complete bum playing games during the day. The load times on Bioshock for saving and loading savegames is off-putting, but I'm having enough fun that I don't especially care.

Yeah, minus highly desired titles like BO2, most BC announcements won't distract from bigger news. At least they acknowledged last week the lack of recent updates, probably just too much going on in the lead-up to E3 and then the convention itself.

RIP Prodigy (Mobb Deep)
Felt like losing a piece of my teenage years. Prodigys raps were a defining part of my high school years. Everything from the albums to the guest spots. His verse on the I Shot Ya remix remains one of my all time faves. Sad day for NYC rap fans who grew up in the 90s on that Queensbridge sound.

Just out of curiosity. How are you determining whether it is or is not HDR? I know the most recent Samsung firmware update (1180) pretty much turned off most of the "an HDR video is playing" notifications. The way I can tell is that the TV automatically applies certain settings when an HDR video is played. For instance Backlight jumps up to 20 by itself when it recognizes that a video or game is HDR.

I know there's a freebie/giveaway thread but screw that...does anybody here have any interest in Guardians of the Galaxy digital comic downloads?  I got them during the Guardians 2 premiere from Regal Cinemas.

I have two codes.

One code is for: "Guardians of the Galaxy (2015) #1"

Other code unlocks two comics: "Drax (2015) #1" and "Rocket Raccoon & Groot (2016) #1" SpaceGundam claimed these.

When HDR content is displayed, the video setting changes from whatever it was (Movie or Game, for example) to HDR. Also, at least with what I've tried on the Xbox, the picture goes from really great looking (I'm a huge fan of this TV so far outside of this issue) to nasty.

I saw a stack of those digital comic book codes at the ticket counter at Regal. They were just out there for anyone to take. Just letting anyone else know :)

Comixology.com has a bunch of free comics as well. Mostly the same ones from Free Comic Book Day. You can usually search FCBD or free comic and find a list of them. Same with Amazon.

How recent were they out there? This was from the premier back in May. I've just never redeemed them because digital comics aren't my thing. Plus, the 3 comics from the codes all cost money on that website.

That's a pretty sweet link though for fans of digital comics. Just not my cup of tea.
