This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

As February got closer I noticed this thread got in the amorous mood in preparation for the Valentine's day to come.  What better way to woo that special someone on this thread than some pizza and arcade games.  In fact, allow me to make the universal mating call for this thread in our native tongue: "cheap, cheap, cheapcheap, easy achievements, free, cheap!"

Also as this month gets started, we're already expressing our feelings towards our Games with Gold offerings.  As a reminder, there is a "Game of the Year" edition of Dead Island which has all the DLC which is fairly cheap and can be had for under $15 brand new if Xbox 360 hard drive space is at a premium as it is for me; still, place the base game into your download queue in case, besides it's FREE (with Gold subscription we may already have for the Deals of the Week), don't argue with FREE, free is a good price, end of story.  Sure we wish for better because I too already own both for the month, but my rate is just 4 from the 17 known GwG are new to me; I already bought most the discounted games I wanted, and I seriously doubt the program will offer me Marvel Ultimate Alliance Gold, Blitz: The League 2, or Naruto: The Broken Bond all of which I vaguely desire but not willing to commit to a purchase, so I think the only way for the Games with Gold program will give me games I do not have are either something too contemporary for any discounts (not likely) or offer titles out of my comfort zone of games I get, like sports simulation or flight/tank/train simulator.  I know very well it is difficult, but nice to get people out of their comfort zone in games sometimes, as I had tried one holiday buying all my friends and I Blur when walmart.com offered them at $10 each (I also gave them another title in their comfort zone so it was not that selfish a holiday) for some fun together, and to this day not a single friend has popped the game into their 360, so alas I Blur alone (or need to get better friends).  The racing game suggestion seems like a wonderful idea to me too for the program, it'll at least balance out all the FPS and over-the-shoulder shooters offered (and tower defense).  Well, I am more jealous of what our German friends got from the offer, but still happy to add a free item to my account without being too offended by all the discussion.

Last month I earned a whopping 0 punchcards, and the trend looks to continue this month too for the Xbox Rewards.  I still want to love my 360, I just have this strange feeling it has moved on without me.  I am a dinosaur who tries to enjoy games with it, but it obviously wants to hang out with others who like to exercise, buy movies digitally, and expensive non-discounted map packs.  I notice 90% of my friends list is all Netflix, so I guess my 360 is seeking the excitement of a younger more energetic and rich partner.  Well, February is looking a bit heartbreaking already.

The current EA sales hit that sweet price point where I'll accept a digital edition to supplement a physical copy like last week's Tales game.  It would have been nice if the DLC were discounted as well, but I do not mind getting Mirror's Edge again on the 360 just for achievements.  For the Skate series, those on my friends list tell me they prefer 2 over 3 (the one I have, and still not played yet), so I'll add that to my ever growing pile of unplayed games.  The crown jewel of the discounts this week is of course Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds which I was so hyped about before it was released, I had to get the game and its DLC at full price on release.  As a big fan of the fighter-brawler (with RPG elements) hybrid games like the original Guardian Heroes, Panzer Bandit, Code of Princess, etc. as well as pixel art and chiptunes, I absolutely love Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds; remember, my taste in games are weird, and it was part of my choice XBLA games last year.  As for the other XBLA titles for the current Deals of the Week, I really wish the sale to be over soon so I will not get tempted any longer by their low prices and low-to-poor critical response (which really appeals to me, for no logical reason).

I had thought this coming week was the Fable discounts mentioned earlier in the thread.  They reduced the value of my Original Xbox Fable: The Lost Chapters with the upcoming Fable Anniversary (unfortunately it isn't capable of swapping between classic look and modern for comparison like Halo Anniversary), but I think the surrounding discounts on content relating to all the releases in the series would be very attention grabbing to us CAGs.  Given how Fable 3 was our first free title on the Games with Gold offerings, I'm sure we'd explore the value of the game's DLC if they were at a significantly discounted price.  As for the upcoming Fable Anniversary, like the Game of the Year edition of Dead Island, it does have all of the DLC included too, so it seems like a value already.   So far, I see a GTA4 sale again.  I hope there will also be a side sale to supplement the Gold only Deal of the Week.  Suddenly I feel Sega no longer is one of the more frequent publishers to discount their wares on Live; I mean I haven't seen them whore out their most iconic character in a while: Danica Patrick.

Well, I hope as the night progresses, more deals become clear and if we get lucky, it will be something we want.  I look forward to a good future.

EDIT:  I also wanted to squeeze this link in here, because I am so HYPE for it.

strongly considering GTA IV as I have a grand total of one achievement since the day it came out. I played it for an hour and just.....stopped. Plus the DLC is pretty cheap now too. Hmmm. I'll think about it for a week.

Safe to say this sale sucks a bag of d*cks.
The dream is over. What can I say?
The dream is over. Yesterday.
I was the dream weaver, but now I'm reborn.
I was the walrus, but now I'm John.
And so, dear friends, you'll just have to carry on.
The dream is over!

I swear GTA 4 and its DLC is on sale every other month. I was holding off buying Phantom Breaker until I knew what this weeks sale was going to be but I think I'm not even going to buy Phantom Breaker.

Thank god! I was starting to get worried that since GTA IV hasn't been on sale for so long, I thought they forgot about the game. Glad to see they didn't.

Yep...officially disappointed.  I tried GTA V again the other day and just couldn't get into it.  I guess I just enjoy watching videos of it on Youtube more than I enjoy the game.

You must have the wrong link. These are not easy achievements.
I went for those. Maybe that's just my personality (or enjoyment of villainy). Or perhaps ya clicked on the annotation above for their newer video on the rare achievements in their favorite games. Don't worry, maybe one day I should get the Avatar game too, not for the easy achievements, but I actually loved the series.

Well, it's quite unlike me to make a simple post but I remember earlier in the thread someone mentioned party fighters like Smash Bros. Which reminds me of an old 360 party fighter I had my eye on based on the Nurarihyon No Mago comic a couple years back, haven't seen much mention of it. There aren't many other party fighters I can recall on the 360. I always love finding those hidden gems, like the GameCube party fighter featuring Bomberman, Simon Belmont, Optimus Prime, etc.

I am getting quite disillusioned right now, as I'm not seeing anything else up on xbldb for discounts aside from the GTA offerings. The Xbox Rewards is no help either, if only they'd make another DLC punchcards offer, because I am currently eyeballing the WWE All Stars DLC considering the game's online servers as well as THQ are gone (hey, don't judge, this game balances out my Rumble Roses on the 360) and its now unattainable online achievements -_-. Well maybe when Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z shows up, cus it appears there will be DLC for that already >_<. (I also keep mentioning all the DOA5U DLC I want)

Since it's a GTA sale this week, I decided to jump on getting KoA: Reckoning. I bought a copy from GoHastings and decided to just buy the DLC since it's cheap. Why not?

Yeah I think I might grab the dlc as well. I want a disc version though.

If you use the 30% off code at GoHastings, KoA is $11 plus shipping. Not a bad price. It's not the $9.99 plus tax but it was good enough for me to bite.
Thanks. That's still a good price. I'm broke as hell though. Have a ton of MSP on my account and $20 I still haven't added lol.

I know it's mediocre, I've read the reviews, and I still want Spartan Assault. I guess I'm a sucker for Halo stuff. The co-op sounds fairly interesting to give it some replay. The problem is there's no way it should be $15 for 360 yet it won't be on sale for a while. Decisions. I almost never pay more than $10 for digital.

The trial is so short and did nothing to convince me in either direction. Actually, I feel like paying them that $15 rewards them for offering such a weak demo, so I guess it did convince me, just not the way I hoped it would.

Don't waste your time/money on it. I bought it, and got bored after 30 minutes. It's basically a top-down, small map, repetitive version of Spartan Ops meets Halo Wars.

Easy achievements, if that's your thing, but certainly not worth full price.

My guess is the 360 version will have compressed videos, because I can't see the graphics being downgraded considering it already looked bad on the X1.

It's a probably a sin to do but I might buy Lococycle. Then again that still screams the first Games with Gold title on X, outside of Crimson Dragon which I bought lol.

Hey, everybody. I'm not dead!

I know it's been a long time. But let me start off by apologizing for abandoning the old thread. I know you don't care about the boring details of my personal life, but I found out a little bit before Halloween that I'm going to be a father with my now-ex-girlfriend, and between that and finding out she broke up with me indirectly (through Facebook, no less), it threw me for a loop.

Let's just say it's been a very turbulent past couple of months. And I've felt very guilty for vanishing on you guys when I was trying to get our community going. But I think things have calmed down enough that I can participate in this community again on some level.

A big thank you to Bloomy and whoever else picked up the slack after I went native, the OP is in good shape and I'm happy to see that. I was really touched you credited me in the OP despite everything, that meant a lot.

I love you guys and it's good to be back. Just a shame this week had to be so subpar (GTA AGAIN? We just had a 2K sale.) Funnily enough, I never let my personal crisis stop me from getting XBL deals, so at least I didn't really miss out on anything.

Hey, we all go through crap. Glad to see you're alive and kicking. Thanks for all the work you did before. As you can see, the thread is still in good hands and surviving. Now join in the creepy flirting and internet fuckery!
It's not a problem. I really liked contributing, I just couldn't with all the shit going on and I felt terrible about it. I can see that the thread is healthy, and that's great.

Creepy flirting? WHERE?

So just GTA then? Oh well, you guys' opinions on these games and whether I should buy them? I have a coupon that expires next week so I'd really like to use it, and these are some of the cheapest (and the ones I'm interested in) that I could find:

Dragon Age Origins

Borderlands 1/2

Ghost Recon FS

Hitman Absolution

Army of Two: Devil's Cartel

Castlevania Lords of Shadow

I've been playing the Perfect Dark HD remake and keep remembering how semi-awful that game was. It's one of my favorites ever but every objective was super vague or buggy. I keep getting everything done but then dying/failing before I get to some arbitrary point that triggers completion.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is one of my most favorite games of all time. Its super underrated. Buy it! However, there's also a GotY type one that includes all the dlc and the arcade title that gives backstory to LoS 1 and 2.

Dragon Age Origins is supposed to be great. Get it depending on price.

Ghost Recon was fun but its dying out online.

Borderlands is fun with friends. I prefer 1 over 2 but they're both solid.

Hitman was alright. I beat it relatively qyick though.

Haven't played Army of Two DC, but I heard it was ok.

Thanks, appreciate it!

Dragon Age is the cheapest while Castlevania is the most expensive at 20. I guess I'll see what I can do

I wouldn't really get it for the coop since there are only 5 maps. Honestly, I didn't like the last 2 or 3 maps so I don't plan on spending much time there beyond getting the coop kills achievements. It's a small distraction. The campaign is the main course.

There is quite a bit of content if you're grinding out the individual campaign level Assault Ops. There are 30 levels (5 per the 6 chapters) and each has 3 bonus goals to meet. Each level is fairy short but you'll probably play them each a handful of times. That will be the biggest time sink besides getting a Gold rating on every level.

I haven't checked the achievements on 360 but I'm assuming they're just worth less than the 1K GS on XB1. What I've enjoyed on XB1 is the weekly Challenges for beating each chapter with a different Skull activated. Though I believe this is the last week for that and haven't seen any new Challenges pop up yet. They've kept me playing the game weekly since I got it as a gift for Christmas.

I'd only recommend it at full price for hardcore Halo fans since they eat that stuff up. Everyone else could wait for a sale. With the small amount of games on XB1 I would assume each of the smaller downloadable titles (Crimson Dragon, Lococycle, Halo SA and MATMM) will all be free on GWG eventually.

I own all of those except for Cartel.

Origins is great, but get the Ultimate Edition or you're getting ripped off.

Borderlands 1 and 2 are great. The DLC for 2 is lackluster compared to 1's though. I would recommend 1's GotY Edition over 2 for right now. (If you can, get the games used, Gearbox doesn't deserve a penny for the Colonial Marines debacle).

Lords of Shadow is pretty good. There's some worthwhile DLC as well, but it's a bit expensive. If you can, try to get the Lords of Shadow Collection with Mirror of Fate HD (which is 1000x better than the original 3DS game). Warning, if you did NOT like God of War, you will hate this game.

Ghost Recon is okay for a squad-based shooter. MP is pretty much dead, so avoid.

Absolution is okay, a step back from the previous Hitmans though. It's good fun though.

And Devil's Cartel is shit based on what I've read.

So, Dragon Age Origins: UE > BL1 GotY > BL2 > Castlevania LoS > Absolution > Ghost Recon > Devil's Cartel

Thanks for the opinions on SA. It can wait for a sale, at most.

Good to have you back, Bobby. That sounds like a pretty crappy situation, aside from creating a new life. You can't do anything better in this world, although it sounds like your partner wasn't the one to do it with.

fucking Everywhere. Good to see you're alright. Congratulations on the kiddo!
Really? Weird. Who's hitting on who?

And thank you! Wish I could celebrate, but it's a few months to go and I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to fight for visitation rights. So, excited yet scared shitless at the same time. THE JOYS OF PARENTHOOD.

Thanks a lot. And yeah, it is crappy. Without going too into detail (because I could spend hours ranting about the whole thing), you're right, I thought she might be once it happened, but she wasn't.

Least I'm not a deadbeat, right?

Hmmm double thinking Alice. I thought I would hold off since the sales have been good lately I'm wondering if I should pick it up. I was kind of saving it for filler on a b2g1 free somewhere, someday but now I'm feeling like I might just break down and pick it up.

I've never seen it cheaper than $8. I'd say go for it. I'd get it if I didn't already have a disc version.

I still haven't decided to pull the trigger on the Citadel DLC. I'm still missing Omega, and I don't want to finish the story content without it. I figure next time they go on sale it will be all the content together. I have only $8.80 in fun money, and don't think I want to spend it on something I wouldn't be playing for a long while...

Damn, I have my work cut out for me lol.

They all have to be used to finding GotY/complete editions are going to be a pain in the ass. Thanks for your opinion!

You know that's a huge gamble considering majority of the ME3 sales have been done one by one and never altogether once, right? Same can be said about the Dragon Age 2 DLC, another Bioware game. Same with Mass Effect 2 with the last time I think all the DLC had a sale was in January 2012.

And like I said earlier, unless you're a huge fan of Aria, Omega doesn't offer much.

Well. The Ultimate Edition of Dragon Age Origins doesn't have any DLC codes except for the Stone Prisoner (I think), which is free to download. The GotY edition of Borderlands 1 doesn't have any codes, as long as you make sure to get the version with a second disk. Not sure about BL2's GotY edition, but it's a billion $ right now anyways. Lords of Shadow Collection contains codes for the DLC & Mirror of Fate HD, so avoid getting that used. The other games don't have other editions available, so you're fine. Cartel comes with an Online Pass but it's free on the Marketplace now. I think Ghost Recon does too though.. (too lazy to get box and look) and it costs money, so that's no good either.

Hope that helps.

Good to see you back Bobby. .. if i could reach ya id give ya a bro hug and ask if you want loud or mids in this blunt.

Hey crono... we need to game brother
Thanks dude. I could definitely use a bro hug right now. New Yorkers unite.

Also, hey Bardock and hey Cleaner.

Any reason why LocoCycle is considered crap? I loved all the other Twisted Pixel games I have played and have heard nothing but bad things for LocoCycle, unfortunately.
