This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Gotta agree. It was just an offhand comment. No biggie. There's nothing really goin on in this thread deal wise from Wednesday-Sunday anyway.

Hey Hannibal season 3 is happening.
I was really happy to find out about this today. I should be getting my Hannibal shirt soon from that 1 day sale a couple weeks ago.

Speaking of Hannibal, I played some neat Disney Project Spark worlds. Some of them had some rather scary or disturbing parts. I made a short video of those parts. Gets worse as the video goes on

I think this clip sums up how I feel about Trials Fusion's trick system. Start by trying to do a trick, panick because it is not working, start spinning both sticks, and finally crash painfully.

Does XBL ever do something like Sony does every once in a while where you get extra months or something for redeeming an XBL membership? Trying to decide if I should just go ahead and add one of these year cards to my account or keep stringing together the smallest amounts of time I can find.
Not so much with Xbox Live, but I do recall a time when Xbox Live Rewards offered double point return on renewing Gold during a certain month. It wasn't double points on purchases, just the renewal. So if you get X points for renewal you'd get 2X instead. I don't think they've done that in a while though, and it was under the old way they did it. Maybe after E3 they'll do more, so you might want to hold onto those Live Cards.

And I'd hold onto them anyway. You never know if you'll get tired of gaming or the Xbox, or, unfortunately, have something happen that gets you banned. If any of that occurs you can still sell the unused codes you have.

Live Rewards is still giving bonus points for renewing your membership, but it's something pretty small, like $3 for renewing for 12 months or something like that.

Can someone inform me about the Rock Band Delistings?

I just got into RB2 Again & I was wondering what was up, I read it somewhere, but can't remember what topic.

Played the trial for Peggle 2 and it just isn't for me. Neither is Peggle 1.  I prefer Arkanoid and its lack of blue balls.

Also tried the demo for Scourage.

Good news: It's better than Amy. At $2.50, it's a fun game to play on Xbox.

Bad news: I said fun on Xbox, not Xbox 360. It reminds me of an Xbox game called Killswitch. This game is very generic and has way too many controls. The graphics seem to be downgraded and gameplay is very repetitive. Main story is confusing.

It's the kind of game I would play once and delete afterwards. It's not terrible, but there are better games on the 360 like the Gears of War series and Alien vs. Predator. Might get it just for achievements and that's it. But since my drive is at almost 5 GB and I'm not obsessed with achievements, I'll pass.

Is that what all the fuss is about?

Like anything else to worry about?
There's some super-cool CAG Bro in this thread that keeps us updated from time to time about Rock Band sales and de-listings. I make a point to thank him and like his posts as I really appreciate him keeping us all abreast of any potential changes to the available songs.

Come, unnamed Gamer with the Ass of pure Cheapness! Reveal thyself, that we may bask in your glory!

Bobbytastic maybe

While we are on the subject of "Married" the game, we need to add a system that takes away money earned in some ration like 2 to 1.....to make the challenge realistic.

Just trying to help out fellow CAGs since its never cool when stuff gets delisted and its gone forever

Thanks, will use a three month for now then. Reminds me now that I'm buying stuff I need to check the rewards thing again. Think I signed up when I got my X1 but I can't remember.

After playing demos of scourge and sacred citadel, I'm gonna skip both. Rather save my money for something else worthy of my cred. You CAGs were right, not worth it. Now back to playing WoT and Batman AA.

I'm still convinced one of the GwG freebies will be one of the Batman games

Assuming someone mentioned it and I probably missed it but the free birthday skin packs for Minecraft are up (and linked from the OP) if you're prone to forgot about them like me.  Now I have to go find some source to figure out what each of these are and what's worth it since this list is a little overwhelming.

Thanks. I Kinda spaced out on it, now I just got to wait until the game is 60-70% off on XBLA and I'll put them to use.

Am I missing something or are there no demos for XB1 games? Was going to check out Child of Light but don't see a demo when it has one on PS4, PS3 and 360. Noticed the same thing when I went to try Fusion and a couple other cross platform games that had demos other places.

I grabbed it for $11 from Target during the last B2G1 since it's one of those that rarely goes on sale.

I'm sure you're right

yeah, there's not many demo's for x1 games. Luckily they have the twitch streams built into the game's store page so I normally just watch someone else play and decide from that if I want it.

I forgot Minecraft 360 released on my birthday...guess i'll grab that birthday skin pack.

Not sure if anyone else noticed, but several of the "mystery markdowns" from April actually went up in price now.  GoW and Halo 4 were two of them.  A couple others too.

Check it monthly for the survey offered. Each month you do it you get $.25 It's nothing initially, but that saved over the year allowed me to buy the DLC chapters for The Maw. And if you haven't actually signed up make sure to inform a friend or post it here. Someone can refer you to it and get some extra points for it.

Yeah, I had signed up and got the 1250 credit for my first purchase. Wish I had seen the survey when I signed up two months ago.

I kind of hope GwG does NOT copy PSN+, at least as far as requiring gold to keep it. I'll take the fewer games drawback if it means I get to keep the games I've obtained even as a silver member, as I've let my gold lapse occasionally.

Speaking about GWG / PS+, I've always wondered. I know you lose access to your games for PS+ if you go back to silver status (or whatever Sony calls it), but if you go back to gold, do you gain those games back or are they gone forever?

You gain them back, but you can't access the games that were "free" while you weren't subscribed to PSN+.

I don't know if Sony has made any official statements on this matter, but it seems to me that they can't keep the PS3 servers up forever, and when it goes down I'm assuming your PS+ free games go as well. I'm the kind of collector/gamer that has a mountainous backlog, and a shelf full of cases. I don't mind playing years-old games, so GWG appeals to me more. I value game ownership and long-term replayability.

However, the sales for PS+ members are occaisionally great deals, and its worth using a trial code or a paid month (at greatly reduced cost from retail) just to snap up a few exclusives and own them forever. If you're the kind of person that plays through a game once and probably never again, then PS+ is a killer deal. You could have a PS3 and a Vita, nothing on the shelf and STILL have too many games to play.

Yeah, of course, you can play those PS+ while the servers are up. Same with XBL games (in part); if you didn't have them in your HDD, and the servers go down, or you get banned (as our osman brothers who fell in the war), you can't download the games you BOUGHT or got free through GwG.

That said, this current (past) generation, I've only had a xbox360, and I have everything downloaded on HDD's. So if my console doesn't RROD or my HDD's don't explode, I'm good to go :D

You know that Microsoft won't support the 360 forever too right? That means it won't matter if you got the games free through a subscription or own them outright. If they get taken down, you're SOL.

There's also the fact that while the PS+ free games are better and more plentiful because they're tied to a subscription, the PS+ sales are on the whole much better and more frequent than anything Microsoft offers.

All I'm seeing is weird and unjustified bias.

Actually you will still be able to play them until your 360 or HD breaks. You can play offline with no expiration date.

Whoa whoa whoa. Back up a sec. His point is that "free" games from PS+ run on a timer. So unless Sony unlocks those games for everyone before the servers go down, you'll lose access to them whether you have them downloaded already or not.

This has been one of my concerns about the program since its inception. At least with XBL/GWG, as long as you have it on your HDD, you should be able to play it offline until your hardware explodes. That's part of why GWG isn't absolute shit to me.

No need to be so defensive over a subscription service, jeez.

You'd be able to keep playing the PS+ games until they reach the expiration date, which doesn't need the servers to be up to function or else you wouldn't be able to play offline. I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft hasn't been working on having expiration dates for Xbox One Games with Gold titles so they could have more leverage to keep those people around than they currently do.

Yeah, but that's only speculation at this point. Until Xbone GwG is confirmed to run on a timer, I'll say that that's the big edge GWG has on PS+ right now (not that PS+ still isn't better overall, but it's something). I really hope Microsoft realizes this and keeps the current approach.

I know it's speculation since I'm the one speculating about it. It would be great if they keep it going, but they'd be giving people a big reason to not have to stay subbed when the games don't interest them.

Yes, quite the endorsement. "It's occasionally worth it when you can get it as cheap as possible" should go into their marketing.

That was after you listed weak justifications for why GWG is better, even though the same knocks against PSN apply to XBL. I would have called somebody out for the same sort of nonsense in Tanuki's PSN deals thread.
