• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2026. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

I'm confused on this issue also, but i've not done any research. The wording they have used over the past couple years led me to believe almost anything in your Xbox library would eventually be xcloud compatible. My assumption was that I could play my copy of XYZ game since I own it (unrelated to Gamepass). But maybe i'm way off.

They definitely talked like that and I think that's what they wanted to do... Then publishers got involved and started removing all sorts of stuff from the Nvidia Geforce Now streaming service. Even though you already owned the game, running it through a remote server or virtually was considered some sort of DRM violation. So who knows where that stands at the moment.

Don't have an answer for everything but they've actually been more aggressive this time around on sales digitally. I picked up Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, and Zelda Breath of the Wild all in the $39 range on the eshop. I mean not amazing, but pretty good for Nintendo. New Egg has deals on eshop money quite often, might have been $50 for $45 or something like that this week so again nothing amazing. They also have a pretty decent "Rewards" program, not Microsoft good but way better than anything I've seen from Sony. I think setting up two switches is very similar to setting "home console" on the Xbox. I still haven't filled close to my 128gb card, but I'm probably on the smaller side game collection wise. Some examples though Mario is only a 6gb game and Zelda is 14gb. So these games, at least the ones coming from Ninentdo aren't insane with the amount of space they are taking.

If you time it right, you should be able to find a 256 gb micro SD card for $30-35. I would recommend that as an ideal size for the Switch if you plan to grow your digital library or want to pick up games like Bioshock/Borderlands collections that require a large download.

First party Nintendo titles do have digital sales, but they're not common. If you have a GameStop Pro membership, that's your best bet for digital credit. Use your monthly $5 coupon and get $10 eShop credit.

My vote is for physical though because of storage space (Switch doesn't have much built in, though SD cards keep getting cheaper), and those games will probably keep their value forever if you ever wanted to resale or trade them.

Joycon grip, like the one included with it, is a must if you want somewhat of a traditional controller experience without buying a Pro controller or something third party. A second grip is only necessary if you buy another set of Joycons, though. A grip for portable play also highly recommended.

I have a 128gb card in switch and I'm running out of room.  256 would be plenty.  I always get first part games physical because they retain their value and if I don't like it I'm not just out 60 bucks on a digital license.  The pro controller is better than the joy cons.  Far more comfortable for longer play sessions.

I don't fully understand your issue with BC and Xb1 no longer working at the same time. I guess since BC uses a different system that must cause the conflict. I assume it still works if one person is on the "home" console, right?

I'm not surprised that a change like this also cut into sharing features like you mentioned. Quite frankly, Microsoft is so much more "generous" on the whole sharing issue than Sony or Nintendo, so I don't blame them too much.

Sorry was't clear on my original post my situation is a bit different and probably won't affect many others, the current way it works right now with 1 on the home console and the other user logged in to the account and online still works as it always has -- my situation is a bit different because we have 3 XB1's -- previously I could buy a game on my account -- my son (on my home xbox) can play any game I own (and game pass etc..) while I was logged in to my account and online I could play any game I own - my daughter on a 3rd xbox could log in with her account and log into my account (that would log me out briefly) she could then start a BC 360 game and then I could log back in and my daughter could continue to play her 360 game (it would log me out of her XB1 but her game would still be fine) - now if I start a game after she has started a 360 BC game instead of just logging me out of her XB1 it kicks her out of her game. The change does allow 1 account to be logged into multiple non home XB1's but only of those people can play any type of game (the other can watch netflix/hulu, etc - but as soon as both are running a game of any type you get a nice message and somebody has to exit (since this was supposedly added because of xbox cloud streaming not sure if that will behave differently and that will be like an app?) . I agree MS is way more generous for sharing than sony or nintendo just disappointed we lost that "feature" -- I really wish they would bring back the family gold option at a slight premium -- too bad that got abused way too much

tl/dr = sharing works the same as always (and actually better for non game apps) unless you have 3+ consoles

OK. I actually have your same issue (except I have more kids). So this isn't as exciting to me now that you clarified it because I thought one account could be logged in for different games at the same time. I didn't realize there was a "glitch" with 360 games, but it seems logical they fixed it for whatever reason.

Also, this is less interesting because we use Roku, etc. for apps.

I have been struggling with multiple accounts for years. It's not a problem except that what we're talking about is trying to keep games affordable by not buying everyone a copy (and also not paying for Gold, etc. for everyone). I never did it with PS3, but I am shocked at how they once allowed up to 6 consoles to game share at one time.

I can answer these, we are a 3 Switch family, one Regular and two Lites. I have gone Physical on pretty much everything, this is for game sharing. The Switch allows you to have one primary Switch per account. My account is set to primary on our main Switch hooked to the TV. This allows my wife and kids to play any game digital or physical on the main Switch. When I play a game on my lite, regardless of it being digital or physical, it wants to verify that I’m logged into my account so it tags the internet anytime I play on my lite. This means that in the car out of WiFi range, I use a secondary account on my lite that can play physical games without tagging into the internet to launch them.

We have bought almost all of ours for $50 at Walmart on the physicals.

The Nintendo Joy Cons and Pro Controller that is Nintendo brand all have drift issues. I’ve had to send all of mine in for repair at one time or another. Luckily there was a class action law suit so Nintendo will fix drift for free.

I like the pro controller, we also have a couple sets of joy cons and then some of the PowerA wireless controllers. The powerA ones are a bit on the light side weight wise but my kids like those and never have drift issues on those yet. They just use 2 AA batteries, so rechargeables work great.

I also really enjoy the plastic handle covers for handheld mode. I think mine is from JTech, it makes the lite or regulars a bit more comfortable for handheld play.

I have a 128mb memory card in each switch but since we mostly do Physical games we don’t use much space since they don’t install much and run from the card.

I've bought most first-party stuff that I'm likely to replay digital (Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Smash Brothers) and buy most others physical (or digital if on sale). If you're a Gamestop PUR, the $5 coupon every month can be used on Nintendo credit to help get it a little cheaper.

Digital games at full retail give you $3 back in Nintendo credit, physical gives you $0.60 if that matters to you.

I have a 128gb card in switch and I'm running out of room. 256 would be plenty. I always get first part games physical because they retain their value and if I don't like it I'm not just out 60 bucks on a digital license. The pro controller is better than the joy cons. Far more comfortable for longer play sessions.

I have a 400GB card in the Switch and it is full. I need a 1TB, but the prices are still too high for me.

I'm confused on this issue also, but i've not done any research. The wording they have used over the past couple years led me to believe almost anything in your Xbox library would eventually be xcloud compatible. My assumption was that I could play my copy of XYZ game since I own it (unrelated to Gamepass). But maybe i'm way off.

Edit- The list of supported xcloud titles has inadvertently confirmed River City Girls and Katana Zero as coming to Game Pass soon. Very cool.

Has it been confirmed if xcloud will ever be available for anything not on Game Pass? Other press has said xcloud supports something like over 2000 games, but it's only been talked up for current Game Pass games.

That and Windows 10 support are the two things I really want to know right now.

Windows support would be great. I've used Stadia/PSNow on my hardwired PC and both performed really well.

If the full version is implemented like the beta they can 'technically' claim that you can already play anything you own in your library by using the console streaming feature. Then it's gonna depend on your home network on top of your internet connection so YMMV

X is X, enhancements work on externals and still will. No matter what you'll get loading benefits from the faster storage. Also games with dynamic resolution/unlocked framerates will automatically get boosts. I think the media decoding chip will be in both machines which will be nice for everyone.

I do have hope the community will find a way to use off the shelf drives that are up to spec. If the perks are really what they say I won't mind it so much.

My wife makes 3x what I do, it also goes in a pot with joint savings and checking accounts. We've had a few disagreements over the years, but the only times we've had problems were from things we couldn't foresee.

Don't worry everyone prices for Ssd will come down eventually. Back in 1981 a 1TB would have cost you $5 billion

For first party titles, I always buy physical because they retain a big resale value. They have some decent sales on the eshop for indie games and some third party titles. There’s plenty of cheap shovel ware for a dollar or so. They have a lot of the free to play games like Fortnite and such which can take up space. I got a 256gb card just to make sure I had enough space and it wasn’t that much more expensive than a 128. I’ve heard great things about the pro controller but never got one because I ended up playing my switch undocked more than expected.

Back to all the Series S X1X BC hoopla, I'm guessing most first party games will get Series S/X patches so the lack of X1X support for those games will be moot.  Hopefully third party developers will patch some older games to raise their native resolution.  Tekken 7 is going to look like trash on any system as long as it's locked to 720p.  I'd like to see games like Arkham Knight and Dragon Age Inquisition get patches but it seems unlikely since they didn't bother doing anything for X1X.

Anyone else notice? I got De Blob 2 on the newer website, it doesn't "Already purchased" when you check the old marketplace website and it  not showing on my Xbox 360 download history. When I try to let me get in on the old website it doesn't work because I already have it. (I can download the game fine on Xbox One)

Got it for ~$15, still play it. Reasonable achievements too. Mostly. Peggle + roguelike with spells and stats but easy to understand

Hotshot Racing has time trial ghosts along with the online modes. Time to see see who the best is.
