• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2026. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

You can set up both consoles on your home network and do a local network transfer of your data, not sure if this is what you mean? It saves a ton of net bandwidth.

No I didn't mean that but good to know. I didn't want to open up my Cyberpunk console until I sold my black One X. Is that quicker? I don't have a data cap here so I just went ahead and installed every game one by one.

I started playing Journey to the savage planet and am really liking it so far. I am getting a Metroid Prime vibe from it.

Oh and I made a total rookie mistake and forgot to make sure no game disc was in the console before I sold it. I just realized it an hour ago when I went to install WWE 2K19 and couldn't find it but luckily, the buyer replied and I'm gonna go get the game tomorrow. BTW Have you ever got any further beta dashboards on the Xbox 360 platform? I suspect they've stopped all development at this point.

I don't think 360 has had a true update for a year or two, besides the minor updates to fight back against hacking. I know they stopped the beta testing. Because, it's technically a dead console. And, it will officially be a dead console when the Xbox Series X is released. If the rumors of expanded original Xbox and 360 game compatibility are true. I just read an article that Microsoft basically promises that the Series X will eventually have full compatibility will all former Xbox software, and all Xbox One peripherals. But, at launch it will be limited. We have heard this before though, when the Xbox One was released, they claimed that they were going for full backwards compatibility with 360 games, and that never came to fruition. So, take this all with a huge grain of salt.

If your tv has an optical out just send that to the receiver for surround sound. That's how I get around my receiver not supporting 4K from the 1X.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I didn't really like GTA V. I feel the driving/cop mechanics are boring at best and frustrating as hell at worst (people swerving into you, then you running someone over, then spending 5 minutes trying to lose the cops). I ultimately gave up because on some mission I chose a path that required a flying license and I got so stuck on one element of the license I quit the game. I did enjoy the concept of the heists and having multiple characters, it just didn't come together for me.

Yeah the thing that always gets me whenever I try that game is the hyper-aggressiveness of the police. You can't do anything fun without getting immediately swarmed by a million cops. I wish you could just turn them off. It's not the way I like to play an open world game.

My original X1 got bricked by an insider program update and they basically said since it was out of warranty I’m either SOL or I could pay to have it fixed, I ended up just buying an S at the time and just opted out and said never again.

It's no where as realistic as Shenmue...

And yeah I agree with the sentiments on the police, it's just no fun waiting for the wanted level to go down. Like they really could've reduced that by 15 seconds and I think it'd still feel a bit too long. That and quality of life stuff, I hate the fact that I still have to spend majority of my time in the game staring at the mini map than at the actual road. Saints Row the Third and so any other open world games years before GTAV implemented an on road navigation guide. Also I'm starting to have the same problem with the game like I did in Far Cry 4 where majority of the characters are so unlikeable that I really don't know why I'm taking orders from any of them and I really don't care to want to explore more of the world. I Will say in the very least that the gameplay itself, fantastic and it feels like a legit triple A game (especially in orchestrating heists), just no reason I want to stay in the world longer than I have to.

I don't think 360 has had a true update for a year or two, besides the minor updates to fight back against hacking. I know they stopped the beta testing. Because, it's technically a dead console. And, it will officially be a dead console when the Xbox Series X is released. If the rumors of expanded original Xbox and 360 game compatibility are true. I just read an article that Microsoft basically promises that the Series X will eventually have full compatibility will all former Xbox software, and all Xbox One peripherals. But, at launch it will be limited. We have heard this before though, when the Xbox One was released, they claimed that they were going for full backwards compatibility with 360 games, and that never came to fruition. So, take this all with a huge grain of salt.

true update, been a couple years, agreed. however, just the other day, they removed all the advertisments on the dashboard and i consider that a substantial improvement.

btw, dead, by online multliplayer standards, i'd agree (WoT is ending support 7/21/20). by the fact that you can still play all your 360 games, and bc og xbox, on or offline? to me that would mean it's never dead. i'm not sure we'll be able to say that about the Xbone gen and beyond

Out of warranty or not they should replace it if their update bricks it but I learned my lesson and unregistered all my consoles from the program after that so oh well.

They give you a warning when you join the program. They aren't forcing you to. You took the risk joining the program. Why should they be responsible? You took responsibility for any issues when you agreed to join the program.

Getting a shit ton of updates for a dashboard update (while taking with it all the glitches and crashes and such) like a month or so before anyone before it changes again in another few months is one of the biggest waste of time ever. Potential bugs. That's what caused your bricking. Of course they're not gonna spell it out. Is this the first time you read terms of service written by a large corporation? If you can't handle the risk then don't sign up. It's voluntary.

I liked the first one and the prequel, the second one was a ing slog. I couldn't quit though with how easy/mind numbing it was to 100% though. Last achievement popped and I believe I yelled something like "Thank ing christ!" Could not possibly have cared less about those whiny idiotic characters.

Not every "walking sim" is for everyone. I loved Life is Strange and LiS: Before the Storm. This game isn't everybody's cup of tea for sure. It really hits home right now, given the current state of America. It's been a tear jerker for me the whole way, very heavy material regarding how effed up things can get.

That said, I've LOVED every moment and seek out all the conversation pieces just by inspecting them. Even though it came out 2+ years ago, top 3 game this year IMO. Just finishing up episode 2 now. Gotta finish this thing before the 30th

Anyone defending Microsoft not replacing a console their own beta testing program bricked is hopelessly fanatical.
No other company refuses to take responsibility for their (unpaid, might I add) beta testers.
You should have called them out on Twitter and/or Reddit so that the bad PR would serve as a motivating force.
No one's saying that they aren't accepting any risk but they're operating under the reasonable assumption that the risk is simply having your console out of commission while MS fixes or replaces it (as they should).

Definitely not for you then, believe it or not there are scripted on skippale moments in the game you have to actually sit and listen to their stuff like Half Life 1. Crazy I know.

Definitely not on the level of the first 2. The episodes feel like filler to get to the end more than move the story forward like the first 2 did. And one characters voice acting was jarringly bad, the thug at the farm, sounded like they called an intern in to read the lines. lol Like Dustinator said the political overtones are highly relevant to what is going on in real life and that is interesting enough to get me through the game.

With respect to the insider program bricking systems. I think it is really hard to prove that an update of the software will brick the system and in no way does Microsoft want to start a precedent of offering free repairs just because you joined the insider program.

 I would not recommend anyone joining the insider program unless you are willing to be a guinea pig for a bunch of stuff that may never make it into the actual production release of the OS. I personally don't like that Microsoft has basically pushed testing of Windows 10 out to the general public. There are serious quality issues with this approach. Works fine with Open source software since you are getting what you paid for. Not so great for commercial software where one expects a certain level of stability/consistency.   I feel like XBox One has had way too many updates to the user interface. Some people like all that churn. For me I prefer a simple interface with minimal changes over the life of the console. And don't get me started with all the services that come and go on the XBox One. I am looking specifically at Groove music.

Do I have to install the whole Master Chief collection on Game Pass if I only want to play Reach? I really don't want to have to download 100 GB just for Reach. I just need to play Reach and Halo 5 to have played all the main games.

Google is only telling me I can manage which games to uninstall but not telling me if I have to download the whole 100 GB file. That makes me think I do which is incredibly lame.
