• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2026. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Out of curiosity, how many people are going to use the Xbox All Access to get the new system? I’ll have enough money to pay my for mine but the two years of GPU is very tempting. Mine is still paid up until spring of 2022. I’m trying to decide which way and through who to do my pre-order.

Actually Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis is also going to be on Switch, PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox One. It's an expansion pack, and a graphical overhaul of the original game. When you start PSO2 up you're going to get to decide if you want to play normal PSO2 with the New Genesis graphics system, but the old levels and combat systems, or the brand new New Genesis campaign that takes place 1,000 years later. You'll be able to freely switch your characters between both modes. They said that switching from one mode to the other will be as easy as switching to a different lobby on the ship.

But yeah, it should be available on regular Xbox One, so not sure who added it to the list

The reason why this pisses me off so much is because I remember listening to podcasts back then (2014) and Phil Spencer went on some and got criticized by people like Ryan for paying for Tomb Raider exclusivity and Phil apologized for it and said how he didn’t think it should happen in the future and Xbox hasn’t really done it since. Phil gets raked for it, all the execs at Sony get a pass. All in the name of clicks for whatever site they currently work at. They wonder why none of us take them seriously as journalists.

Are we getting shared achievements between Xbox One and Series S/X? I'd actually prefer to work on finishing achievements instead of starting over when the Series S/X version of a game comes out.

The unfortunate fact is that you're paying full price for the GPU sub, which over the course of two years could be had for over $100 less via sales. You get a sub code for two years up front with the payment plan so there's also no way to cancel should you need to. Overall, you're better off paying for the console with cash, then riding out deals on GPU as they pop up. That is all of course, if you can afford to.

This. Exactly this. As a cheapassgamer, unless you have no way to buy outright, doing the payment plan is the worst deal possible.

Thanks. I haven’t paid too much attention to GPU deals for a while. When I extended my GPU when the conversion was good, I grabbed some cards from CDKeys so I haven’t seen where other good deals have come from. I will have enough money to pay for it outright and was planning on doing my pre-order at my brick and mortar GameStop. What are some other places to keep an eye out for GPU deals.

And 2 months before the launch of the PS5 they expect you to plop down $500 and you still have no freaking idea how backwards compatibility works exactly. Will PS4 games leverage the power of the PS5 and be upscaled at all or is it just a 1:1 copy of the PS4 version? We still haven't has a single 3rd party independent reviewer like digital foundry actually look at the hardware. Maybe they are trying to hide how freaking MASSIVE this console is going to be and people will be shocked when they can't fit it in their entertainment centers or maybe they don't want you to find how how obnoxiously loud this console is going to be just like the PS4 because dumb dumb Mark Cerny decided to overclock the GPU to astronomical heights never seen before on a GPU and trying to cool it by air. Xbox Series X/S running lower clocked GPU but more clocks means the machine will run nice and cool while still being a performance monster.

That's the tip of the iceberg lol. The console's UI has not been seen, at all. The actual, physical console has not been shown! That's crazy to me! Richard Leadbetter was doing a teardown on the Series X months ago.

Well it seems like the pre-order for the PS5 was kind of a shit show. I thought they said tomorrow? Then retailers promptly broke that? I am going to assume MS has withheld retailers their allotment numbers to prevent this very thing. Otherwise what is preventing them from taking the pre-orders early like the PS5?

As long as I keep it suspended though I won't have to worry correct? Does the resume mode work fine? A like 2 minute initial load is fine as long as I can keep a game suspended and not have to always sit through it every time I want to play the game

MS published Rise of the Tomb Raider. They were a pretty big help in getting the game out there, so they got the excusive on that one. Sony is just straight up paying people to ignore Xbox.

Playstation has only been a console for the exclusives for me. With nothing really attention grabbing that has a release date, my PS4 pro gets the trade-in towards Series X. With the games being one-shot single player games, I don't even know if I'll backup any save data.

Literally the only thing that makes me want the X over the S is the 4k Blu-ray drive. And hard drive size.

Actually, maybe I should get the X then...

Edit: maybe I do get the S (but I’ll still need a bigger hard drive) and then eventually get the ps5 with disc drive. Or the other way around.

Actually- maybe that makes the most sense. The X for the 4k tv for the disc drive. The PS5 all digital for the basement since both PS5 systems have the same hard drive size. And get the Ps5 eventually since, in my opinion, Thanh really dropped the ball on that reveal yesterday and there isn’t 100% confirmation on backwards compat.
