• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2026. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Tough for me to justify switching 100% to PC gaming when I have a massive backlog on console.

I have a cheap 3060 RTX laptop that I use recreationally that can play some games (Played SM: Miles Morales and some PC Game Pass games on it) but it seems like a full-blown gaming PC would cost more money than I usually spend an entire console gen alone.

The solution is extremely simple. Xbox+Steam+Sega backwards compatible next gen mega console. $Billions$.

I never understood why Xbox didn't partner with someone like Sega. They had that third-party foothold inside Japan already. Two very similar companies. Sadly, it looks like they might be going down the Sega path instead.

They go together like peanut butter and dogs. Errrr, Tom Cruise and samurais.

I Went CyberPower PC pre-built. They didn't use designated parts so if I get the guts to want to change things out I can just order it off NewEgg or where ever and do it (or nag a friend). I Found a good enough deal where I think if I were to buy parts separate it would've cost $200-$300 more. Though I will say once I bought it and went over things with friend's to make sure it's what I want I suddenly became acknowledgable on PC parts and keyboards. Holy do I love collecting cheap mechanical keyboards now.

Past few months since I've gotten it I've been pretty happy with it. The only thing I'd change is the motherboard because the one I got only takes Intel CPU's when I should've went with Ryzen and if you're not in the know, Intel basically ed up the voltage on their past two generations of chips where they get fried. It's more on their high end ones which by default take more power and my CPU is middle (an i5), but lawd that would be one thing I'd change just because Ryzen is overall more reliable.

Obviously PC is the way to go but it's not plug and play and we CAG are not average consumers. Gamepass already went up in price twice this year. It will go up again. Personally I don't feel it is properly marketed to the mass market yet. They are trying with the fire stick bundle but they have a way to go.

The answer in the recent years seems to be that they flat out gave up on Japan at this point. If there was a single studio to not close/sell in that regard, it was Tango.

Xbox Prime essential essentially did partner with Sega for a bunch of would-be Dreamcast sequels. Then they made their one hard push during the early years of 360 with stuff like funding Mistwalker, buying exclusives like Tales of Vesperia, attracting CAVE to their platform.

If they still wanted to try and and win some of the region they should have been competing with the moves Saudi Arabia and China have been making. Buying SNK, building a new studio for the Yakuza creator, not passing on Genshin Impact.

Each generation Xbox has always been more powerful (or better optimized, 360), had better controllers (I even liked the Duke!) and had the superior online. They’ve done more with backwards compatibility and usually have better UI systems. But this gen I’ve been liking my Series X about the same as my PS5. For the first time ever I even like the PS controller better. I’m not going to nope out on Xbox for sure, but their actions don’t make me think I’ll be wanting/needing/able to get another console from them in the future

I don't know about you guys, I'm done with the days of viewing reviews and deciding whether I want to spend $60/$70 to play them day one.

now all I have to do is decide whether I want to download it on pc or xbox.

as for console choices and exclusives, it's all personal.

I had ps3 and 360. my ps3 physical and digital library are pretty much done for, while most of my 360 purchases are still good on latest xbox consoles. it's smart delivery vs ps4 to ps5 "upgrade"

the reason that I bought ps3 was for former exclusive. It's the same game that I play the most year after year. not only did it went to xbox, it went day one to game pass. that's right, it's mlb the show. Just for not buying ps4 and ps5 and yearly mlb the show, that's a good gaming pc right there.

Same here. Mostly an Xbox fan than Playstation. I have yet to buy the SX or PS5, but thats due to how horrible both consoles came out the start with barely any games to show for it as well as diminishing returns from these newer powerful console.

In the meantime I am still playing game huge backlog of games from previous consoles while I wait for the Pro version of each console(assuming they will come out with one). And of course, more games that are really exclusive to the console generation and not cross-gen games

console gaming will never be mass market. it's still a drop in the bucket comparing to pc/mobile

I get what xbox is trying, they buy those giant publishers to make games multiplatform.
if they didn't, sony will pay to make call of duty/elder scrolls exc/doom/etc exclusive to playstation in some way. that, will kill xbox.

I Went CyberPower PC pre-built. They didn't use designated parts so if I get the guts to want to change things out I can just order it off NewEgg or where ever and do it (or nag a friend). I Found a good enough deal where I think if I were to buy parts separate it would've cost $200-$300 more. Though I will say once I bought it and went over things with friend's to make sure it's what I want I suddenly became acknowledgable on PC parts and keyboards. Holy do I love collecting cheap mechanical keyboards now.

Past few months since I've gotten it I've been pretty happy with it. The only thing I'd change is the motherboard because the one I got only takes Intel CPU's when I should've went with Ryzen and if you're not in the know, Intel basically ed up the voltage on their past two generations of chips where they get fried. It's more on their high end ones which by default take more power and my CPU is middle (an i5), but lawd that would be one thing I'd change just because Ryzen is overall more reliable.

Tough for me to justify switching 100% to PC gaming when I have a massive backlog on console.

I have a cheap 3060 RTX laptop that I use recreationally that can play some games (Played SM: Miles Morales and some PC Game Pass games on it) but it seems like a full-blown gaming PC would cost more money than I usually spend an entire console gen alone.

Everyone knows that you just rebuy them on Steam and then also never play them on PC.

I mean. It really seems like they are figuring out how to navigate exiting the console manufacturing industry, doesn't it? The writing is on the wall, plain as day. "What is the point of an Xbox console if there are no exclusives? when you can play their games elsewhere". What is even the point of making a console next gen? with obvious decreased sales. from an already-distant market position. It seems most likely that this is one last hurrah of them trying to force GP onto other consoles, and failing to do so. Sony has zero incentive to allow that. Nintendo does not care; they don't need nor want other branding.

For awhile there I thought it might be likely that Xbox would do a hybrid handheld console. But it seems less and less likely. Several companies already do that. And how would that even work when you need expensive cutting-edge hardware with zero profit margin. Congrats, you are now NSW / Steam Deck #5, and still find yourself in the same pickle. Nvidia, ASUS, Lenovo, Logitech all have units and the market doesn't care.

Hate to say it. But putting their high-profile exclusives onto other platforms can be interpreted as nothing but a signpost that they are exiting. Nothing they are moving towards is leading to increased sales of their hardware, and everyone knows it. I find it impossible to believe that execs are incapable of being that forward-thinking. They know what they're doing. They are just afraid to admit it to the public.

I don’t think that will be an issue going forward ever since they switched to x86 in the PS4. I expect most, if not all, current games to be backwards compatible on future PlayStation/Xbox consoles unless they switch architectures (highly unlikely for Sony anyway). That said, I don’t see backwards compatibility being a selling point anymore. I’m much more interested in forwards compatibility instead.

My phone notified me I earned it and collected it but then it shows it was completed and my points didn't go up.

With the "zero exclusives" horizon that we are now on, I think the ability to buy a dedicated device to play my Xbox library is in jeopardy down the road. I'm skeptical that GamePass alone can sustain the Xbox brand and expect a shift to a streaming solution eventually.

For what its worth, I do think Playstation now sees the value in maintaining their library going forward, even if their solutions for PS1-3 are garbage.

I want to transition to PC, probably by the start of next gen, but it's daunting and/or expensive to jump in from scratch.

I just tried out GeForce Now on my MacBook Pro and played some AC Odyssey. Goddamn it's so slick. I would seriously consider just paying for the service every so often (promotional pricing, of course) if I didn't want to build a new PC. Of course, not every game is available to stream so that's something to keep in mind.

So is anyone else starting to wonder if the Xbox situation is so dire that they don't want to be sitting on a ton of Xbox credit anymore? I've got $600 loaded in my account from discounted gift card sales since I was planning to get an X last year. But I ended up buying at Target instead during one of the big sales/stacking promos last holiday season.

I don't think the credit will just disappear like a circuit city retail closure, but it will certainly be worth less to me if they cut back on hardware next Gen. If they stopped making new hardware I suspect other devs will be a lot less likely to offer good sale prices on the Xbox titles that even bother coming to it in the first place. Maybe I should pre-order the Galaxy 2TB one and just flip it or my old 1TB for cash.

Like I get what he is saying, it does make sense but we will most likely never see God of War or Last of US etc on an Xbox console. It kinda feels like a 1 lane road. I love the xbox os and the way my past generations library is available. I will 100% buy the next console. But if I was just getting to the point where I was just starting my Console journey I would recommend integration with the Playstation Ecosystem over the Xbox because of access to more games, sure Gamepass is great but if Xbox continues to put software on other systems why not buy a PS6 get sony exclusives and Xbox games a little later.

I think this is really why it's bothering me (I've also been invested in Xbox since the very beginning when I waited in line for the original Xbox on the floor of Meijer while my mom grocery shopped), because it is a one-way street. Playstation games on PC, sure, PC has always been its own beast, but Sony sure as hell isn't putting their games on Xbox no matter how much money they might make from it. It feels like Xbox is gifting Sony more so than making a business decision, etc. The whole way Microsoft has been handling Xbox just doesn't feel right. It doesn't even feel like a business decision. It feels like they don't really know what they're doing. I'm sure they do, but it doesn't feel like it.

I 100% expect an Xbox handheld for next-gen because they gotta change their game. Give me Xbox software/hardware + third party launcher support + GeForce Now support. I would say the steam deck is a great place to jump into PC gaming. I grabbed one last month and have been loving it.

What kind of games do you play on your Deck and at what settings usually?

So was originally looking at an emulation handheld like the anbernic or retroid. But the ones I was looking at were pricier so it made more sense to splurge on the steam deck during the summer sale. I have been playing retro suff mostly on emudeck. But actual steam games i grabbed spiderman remastered, Horizon zero dawn, days gone, all run great at medium settings. For about 2 hrs battery life, which is about the longest stretch I have to game anyway. They run great for 'AAA' games i am not a stickler for graphics or performance I just capped them to 40fps. Indies like Dave the Diver, Celeste, Eiyuden Chronicles and emulation all get longer battery life, better fps, and higher graphics settings obviously.
