• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2026. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

I would say the steam deck is a great place to jump into PC gaming. I grabbed one last month and have been loving it.

I've been thinking about it as a start but I know I'll never use it handheld and it really wouldn't cut it for modern games. If I see a low enough deal, or Steam Deck 2 comes soon-ish I'll probably bite. Plus normal PC tasks aren't too viable on it.

I'm over an hour in into Atomic Heart and by now I think I'm playing it just to play it before it leaves. Don't even care if I beat it. Just playing it because it was 100GB download and I have to make up for that lost time downloading it. This game is padding for the sake of padding like goddamn. It does the Bioshock thing of giving you a non interactive sweeping view of the locale, but to get there is unnecessary padding. Just stupidly unnecessary long hallways. Also the dialogue is just padding with nothing interesting and instead works against it. From the banter to your glove to the annoying vending machine. They add nothing to the game besides just being annoyed at the world because they go on longer than need be. I Can go on, but it feels like a game that had a particular world it wanted to show, unfortunately that world was a single room and they didn't realize it until half way into development.

I really only disliked the "open world" area of Atomic Heart. I can definitely understand why people might not like it, but I got all the achievements for the base game. I really liked the world they built. Also, it took me about 40 hours to do everything so a few hours is not a ton of time with the game.

I Had absolutely no expectations for Microsoft to surprise drop anything on Game Pass during Gamescom and even than I am disappointed how really nothing burger as a whole things went minus three or so future day one drops announcements.

One more thing I gotta get off my chest about Atomic Heart is the sound mixing feels off or really bad in cutscenes. Like there's absolutely no punch or they forgot to mix in the sound effects. There's scenes where your character is falling and outside of his initial panicked yelling, you hear nothing. Or when an elevator is in freefall you should hear sounds of it scraping against the sides of the cable whipping around or something, but nothing. Same goes with explosions. There's no bass rattling or anything and character's voices overshadow everything.

There is something genuinely wrong, broken, annoying, stupid , deceptive , all of the above about some of the product pages on these digital store fronts.

I'm talking about how something like Resident Evil 8 prompts me to buy the game even afer I own it. The listing on the store shows this game comes with a bundle of RE 8 and that multiplayer game, both of which I 'Own'.

Rockstar takes this shit and turns it into an art form and it seems like it's intentional. GTA V has so many variants it's generally confusing and convoluted. I have both the original x1 and series release and searching from the store tells me to buy the Series version. If I scroll down on the product, it shows this is a bundle of 1 game - The Series version of GTAV.....which is tagged as 'Owned'

And there are several different listing that are both confusing and seem predatory. Some listings tell me I 'Own' the Series and xbox One GTA V bundle....another tells me I don't. If I click that bundle that wants me to pay, it shows at the bottom of the page in the bundle contents that I own both games. Some listings for GTA V online tell me to pay, others say I own. There is something genuinely wrong, broken, annoying, stupid , deceptive , all of the above about some of the product pages on these digital store fronts.

I'm talking about how something like Resident Evil 8 prompts me to buy the game even afer I own it. The listing on the store shows this game comes with a bundle of RE 8 and that multiplayer game, both of which I 'Own'.

Rockstar takes this shit and turns it into an art form and it seems like it's intentional. GTA V has so many variants it's generally confusing and convoluted. I have both the original x1 and series release and searching from the store tells me to buy the Series version. If I scroll down on the product, it shows this is a bundle of 1 game - The Series version of GTAV.....which is tagged as 'Owned'

And there are several different listing that are both confusing and seem predatory. Some listings tell me I 'Own' the Series and xbox One GTA V bundle....another tells me I don't. If I click that bundle that wants me to pay, it shows at the bottom of the page in the bundle contents that I own both games. Some listings for GTA V online tell me to pay, others say I own. And no, I'm not taking into account the bundles with shark cards.

Agreed, another example is that I own the Starfield Premium upgrade which includes the Shattered Space DLC but I still have the option to buy it individually.

Xbox doesn't tell me I own already.

I Feel the only time I've had fps whiplash is playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and going from single screen to 4 player split-screen and wondering why I was doing so terribly before realizing "Oh my God. I Can actually legitimately blame the frame rate for being too low."

Does it really matter? It's still a full priced single player game with 2.2 million concurrent players on a Monday night only hours after launch. Anyone who saw the trailers as far back as 2020 knew this game was going to be a banger! Also you just can't be a premium console and routinely having big games skipping your console. You just can't. The exclusive debate gets more silly as time goes on. I don't think exclusives even sell that great on PS5 compared to the number of consoles. I think it's more everyone has one and thinks you still need to be on the same console for 2k or CoD. Digital games and back compat helps a ton too after they took the lead with PS4 and ran with it.

I hope Xbox stays around for a long while. I work on PCs all day and just want to hit go on my console and play. I like the platform better in just about every way. If MS putting some games on PS5 makes them more money to keep going, I'm down with that. I think they have spent way too much on buying up studios to just go third party and give up.

I imagine Xbox will become more a novelty like PC gaming is. Just depends where your hobbyism lies at that point and I'm all for it since I prefer consoles as well for now.

That said I'm deep into the latest WoW expansion and they've already announced that cross-faction raid queuing is in the works. They're working towards eliminating all boundaries between factions outside of those that want to PvP (which is completely dead TBH). Just another example of how the industry is recognizing that exclusivity doesn't sell: freedom of choice, does.

To be clear. I own a PS5. I own a series x. I have GPU paid up for three years. I don’ fanboy. I own both. There is just no good reason to buy xbox hardware at this point.

Except Game Pass games not on PC? Not sure how many that accounts for but given my history with the service it's a LOT.

I've come to the conclusion I no longer care about anything exclusive to PS5 because I don't have time between live service games and game pass. Sony also painted themselves into a corner of the same monotonous gameplay the way Ubisoft has with practically all their games, and I've been tired of it. More and more it seems Japan has rejected even developing for Xbox as well, which is fine: they just won't get my money either.

I mean. It really seems like they are figuring out how to navigate exiting the console manufacturing industry, doesn't it? The writing is on the wall, plain as day. "What is the point of an Xbox console if there are no exclusives? when you can play their games elsewhere". What is even the point of making a console next gen? with obvious decreased sales. from an already-distant market position. It seems most likely that this is one last hurrah of them trying to force GP onto other consoles, and failing to do so. Sony has zero incentive to allow that. Nintendo does not care; they don't need nor want other branding.

For awhile there I thought it might be likely that Xbox would do a hybrid handheld console. But it seems less and less likely. Several companies already do that. And how would that even work when you need expensive cutting-edge hardware with zero profit margin. Congrats, you are now NSW / Steam Deck #5, and still find yourself in the same pickle. Nvidia, ASUS, Lenovo, Logitech all have units and the market doesn't care.

Hate to say it. But putting their high-profile exclusives onto other platforms can be interpreted as nothing but a signpost that they are exiting. Nothing they are moving towards is leading to increased sales of their hardware, and everyone knows it. I find it impossible to believe that execs are incapable of being that forward-thinking. They know what they're doing. They are just afraid to admit it to the public.

I really enjoyed Wo Long. It was great fun to play coop. I played a both coop and single player and really enjoyed it. Has some really good boss fights and a lot of different weapons to choose from. I think the parry mechanic is implemented well and very satisfying. I also liked the companion mechanic for single player missions. I've been interested in picking up the DLC but I probably would want to own the game before I buy the DLC. I typically don't buy DLC for gamepass games unless I buy the game. I've been hoping it would drop to $20 on Woot. I may just have to buy it for $25 and then pick up the season pass on sale.

Lie of P was ing fantastic and one of my favorite games from last year. The world and the story are great. I really liked the combat but it is very much a soul like game. The twist during the end credits has me very excited for the future of this universe.

I haven't put enough time into Everspace 2 to really give a opinion on it but I enjoyed the hour or two I played of it.
I highly recommend Chorus if you like space combat games. It had a really interesting story and fantastic space combat.

I saw something that said Wukong is equivalent of $44 in China. I'm not sure how that compares to other games sold there.

I think we're mostly hearing noise since it seems like most AAA games we were familiar with don't do all that well in China. All I can think of are PUBG and Dragon Quest (I think?). Pretty much nothing moves the needle her either aside from Genshin and the Holoverse stuff.

Yeah. Same reason that there's a market for pre-built gaming PCs and many PC gamers would sooner die than buy a pre-built one.

Convenience, optimization, time. I have both and tend to gravitate towards consoles simply due to the lack of effort on my part to get something working or running optimally. Plus, my ADHD brain gets so invested in tweaking PC games that it becomes a huge time investment.

Like I have no idea how much of a damn difference draw distance will make or vegetation or whatever else and I do kinda get that nagging feeling at times of not knowing if I'm missing a major feature or not by downplaying it.

Also Rewards really don't mean as much as it use to. The constant jumping of hoops for a program that gets constantly nerfed and just things like random bullshit countdowns really drain the fun of it. If you have an XBox and a job where you got time to kill it works perfectly, but at home it is a straight up chore.

the price of the games is actually super cheap in china compared to here.
wukong costs 268 yuan (~$37.60).
on the other hand, a rtx 4070 costs 4800 yuan ($673), the 4080/4090 are ridiculously priced thanks to us sanctions

so the cost of wukong is relatively low to the chinese that can afford a decent gaming pc.

another detail that no one in the west knows about. wukong licensed the sound track from the journey to the west chinese tv drama show from the 1980s (probably the most watched chinese produced show thanks its apeals to people of all ages)

that alone makes the game an automatic buy to the age 30 to 50 chinese crowd (those can easily afford the game)

You're totally right.

But that happens on other platforms as well, and it's intentional by design. They are perfectly happy to let you accidentally purchase a game which you already own. Whether it's something for which you already have a disc install, or a game which you own another version, they will direct you to a page where you can buy it again in full. This happens on Playstation as well. and occasionally on Steam, with partial ownership / DLC / or bundle packages, but not necessarily any prorated bundle savings. On PS, you can have a completed game with a finished save file, have purchased additional DLC through the store, and the storefront will happily steer you towards purchasing the full digital game again. It is absolutely predatory. Families accidentally double-dip on game purchases all the time. The searches and hits are often purposely opaque about the licenses and permissions for which you already own.

It's almost as despicable as mandatory auto-renewal setting force turned-on anytime you want to redeem a subscription time card. Back in the day, PS4 used to turn auto-renewal on again and again, in spite of you toggling it off. Nintendo used to reset a new digital storefront with each new console, and sell you the same retro games again.

Digital storefronts are predatory and they are not your friend. That's why they keep getting sued.

well i don't know about you, if you turn on a stream and walk away just to get alienware points, the electricity cost alone makes not worthwhile. I can't see anyone having fun playing those daily games.

compare to ms rewards which you can do on your phone while waiting on something some where, and play gpu games when you get home. I never bother to get full search points, all i do is use bing to search to browse instead of using bookmarks.

I get more game issues than achievement issues with QR. Most common issues I have with QR are no sound and game just shutting down a few minutes into playing a quickly resumed game. Any game I care about my progress in I force it closed after playing.
