Welcome to the Xbox Deals and Discussion thread.

General info
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Game Pass potential departure dates

Last updated - 2025-04-19
What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2026. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

If you have any questions about the list, please ask in the thread.

Xbox is the least offender of the bunch. They revolutionized the predatory digital industry with 'Smart Delivery'.

Give you the best version of the game, at all times, automatically, as long as you have a license. They set the console industry standard in that department. Everyone else has had to play catch up. Any investment in previous-gen Sony or Nintendo digital stores and libraries was terrible by comparison. Microsoft pushed the rest of the industry forward, leading by example, and forced them into improving their services. Most people take it for granted but I don't. It's the best thing they've ever done.

Sony has had all sorts of problems, errors, and redundancies with PS4 vs. PS5 installs and permissions. They still have constant problems to this day. It has been BY FAR the most frustrating aspect of this gen.

Xbox in 2024 really is confusing the heck out of me. I know for me, my history with Xbox is like this... Maybe some of you can relate:

Xbox came out when I was in high school, at the time I was mostly a PC Gamer and had a GameCube too but I didn't own the original Xbox. I remember though going to Halo parties where people would setup 4 Xbox and 4 TV's and I was like, dang, this thing is awesome, Xbox is really cool.

Then fast forward to Xbox 360, I was in college and everyone I worked with or knew had an Xbox 360 so I got one and played Halo 3 and Halo Reach with them and the people with a PS3 felt like outsiders that didn't even play online games.

Then the disaster of Xbox One launched with the no sharing games thing and I remember about half my Halo group ended up preordering a PS4 instead of an Xbox One because of Don Mattrick. Which looking back, the Xbox One was pretty bad as far as exclusive games. The PS4 definitely ended up having the better catalog, but as an Xbox gamer it always felt like "Hey, we are working on getting more exclusives and games for you, just sit tight and they are coming next year... next year... next year..."

Now the Xbox Series X is out and it still kept feeling like "Hey, just wait a few more months and we've got those hit exclusives that you want coming" Then they start buying up Bethesda and other studios and it was finally like "Ohh shit, since the launch of the Xbox One we have been waiting for these big blockbuster system sellers to come and now its finally going to happen"

Now Xbox gets out there and is like "Yeah well... we spent all this money so were going to go ahead and charge more for online play but we will bundle it with gamepass to make it seem like its more value, and also, all the big blockbuster games we have, were going to go ahead and put those on every other system as well."

I dunno, I just don't get it, this is finally when they could gate keep those games onto Xbox Series X and sell a shit ton of consoles and probably move up the ranking but instead they decide to now throw in the console war towel. Just seems like a weird ending.

Yeah, mines similar. Got my original Xbox at launch in high school and went to the same Halo parties. I didn't get a 360 for a couple of years, but it was my main and I played that to death (though it's still working well hehe), and people I knew also had 360s.

I was excited to jump right in (heh) with the Xbox One before all the follies. I ended up waiting and eventually got a PS4 because it had the games I wanted (single player narratives).

I would've gotten a PS5 by now and actually was turned into a primarily PC gamer (first time I built a PC was partially for gaming) except Microsoft got me with the Halo Infinite Series X. So I went back to an Xbox console as my primary, and didn't regret it. I still don't.

I thoroughly believe it's mostly the higher ups at Microsoft, primarily a software company mind you, pulling the strings here. They want money, and instead of rebuilding the base they had from the original Xbox into the 360, it's faster/easier for them to do things this way. It's just causing a massive mess in its wake.

In college I lived in a fraternity for a couple years with about 45 guys in the house, with 20-some odd bedrooms. Halo 1 over LAN (ethernet) was the best multiplayer. We'd have 5-14 players goin at it, LOCALLY, with everyone in their own room, shouting down hallways, crashing other people's bedrooms, etc in 2001. It was the best gaming experience ever. The natural evolution of topping 4-player couch co-op Goldeneye & Perfect Dark. Probably the best gaming time of my life.

Nothing that happens in multiplayer gaming these days can top that experience.

Get a friend that has a costco membership to buy you a gift certificate or ask to use their online log in. You could also split a membership and pay only $30 instead of the $60.

This is highly underrated advice. I've been shopping in-store at Costco for several years using just gift cards. If you have one, and flash it at the front door, they have to let you in to spend it. That's the trick not many people know about.

On paper it is the better system but I prefer Sony's approach so I can get extra Platinum trophy and better performance for some games playing PS4 version on PS5.

I usually just bitch and moan when the game I bought suddenly can't be stored on external drives and is too big to fit on the internal one. You can't own an Xbox Series S for long without being forced to purchase one of those redonkulously expensive expansion cards. $130 for 1TB, and that's ON SALE. No monsignor, that dog won't hunt.

because you got it wrong, their goal is not to make games exclusive (showed that when everything on pc day one)

there is no "ranking up" vs sony (just impossible especially in certain regions) on console sales.

all the "exclusives" went to gamepass to "rank up" in gaming subscription service contest. the xbox exclusive is gamepass. it's the definitive champ in gaming subscription service.

if you don't want to get gamepass subscription and sticking with paying $70 for "exclusives" the old fashion way, don't buy a xbox, it's not for you.

No, they got me with the Halo Infinite Series X, the special edition console. Otherwise I would've gotten a PS5 (for backwards compatibility with my PS4 games) and upgraded my PC for everything else by now. My PC is outdated for today's high end gaming. I still have a 1080.

oh I see, like how they got me with faceplates on 360

It's time to take an RTS view of the gaming industry and zoom out! Xbox has ALWAYS been leading the gaming industry.... even from behind. Xbox invented achievements, Playstation came out with Trophies. Xbox invented Xbox live and even included a headset with their console, Playstation did the same. Xbox started putting their games on PC, Playstation did the the same. Xbox made their consoles backwards compatible with previous generations and now Sony is reportedly working on a native PS3 emulator.... albeit too little too late.

Following Xbox news day to day can sometimes be absolutely maddening but if you zoom out the big picture, Xbox now has almost 40 studios pumping out games all coming to Game Pass day one. They own all of the biggest IPs in the industry like COD, Minecraft, etc.. Financially Xbox is very healthy and are now the #2 revenue generator at Microsoft ahead of even Windows.

Playstation on the other hand are in deep deep trouble. Sony still need to payback 3.7 billion dollars for Bungie and so far they just cancelled Destiny 3 and Marathon is looking to be a flop. If it takes 6 years on average to make a AAA game nowadays, Sony's studios may not have anything ready to go for the remainder of this generation. Playstation has basically been carried by one studio this entire generation, Insomniac. People like to say the only reason Xbox are making a profit is because of ABK... well can you imagine Playstation this generation without Insomniac? Yikes!

Sony are starting to put their 1st party games on PC, not because they want to but because they have to. The days of walled gardens might be coming to an end. It certainly isn't working well for Square Enix unlike their counterparts like Capcom and Sega. The future is looking bright for team green! 💚

And for the people who say why not just buy a PC instead of a console? One word... $$$. At the time that I bought my Xbox Series X and PS5, an nvidia 4090 was going for almost $3000 up here in Canada. A console will ALWAYS be cheaper than buying a PC.

well, but you can't compare a 4090 to consoles.

just a rtx 4070 non super or 7800xt at $500 blows any console out of the water

I think that was their original intent, but then Starfield came out to very mixed reaction and it didn't even help with their consoles sales or subscription growth. Halo Infinite and Starfield flopping their 10 year plan, the really poor holiday console sales numbers even with big multiple different discounts, and the completion of Activison Blizzard likely caused the big pivot to going to 3rd party.

The $500 component that is maybe half the cost of a gaming PC blows a console out of the water? Shocking.
it's actually a fair comparison because the other half cost of the pc is useful for many other things that's not gaming. the $500 adds the "gaming" part to your pc like a $500 console would to your tv.

being a cag, I can afford $500 easily because I don't have to buy to play these games in the last few years at launch

looking at my rewards stats, I have redeemed $60 xbox gc and ~$600 amazon gc (good enough for a 4070) while having gpu sub through end of 2025 for now. I do less than 3 bing searches a day and sometimes didn't even bother to do them. most of my points comes from playing gamepass games and reading news on mobile

I thought this would be fairly common here looking at the title of this site.

You've joined the Xbox discussion 68,000 posts deep (in just the current thread. We all know how the many rewards programs work, the limitations of the consoles, the benefits and negatives for PC gaming. We all have our reasons for playing on consoles. I would say you'd have more of a discussion in the Steam thread but we're are by far the most active part of the CAG community.

I do think you are overvaluing a high powered PC on the whole. Unless you do editing or some other PC intensive job which you happen to do from your personal PC, having high-end gaming-capable components is way overkill for what most people use home PCs for.

It's not about PC vs consoles.

It's PC + Xbox is needed to take the most advantage out of GPU. While PC is more expensive, it's easily obtainable thanks to gamepass and ms rewards.

Forgive me if this info is outdated but to my knowledge, you can't build a PC that is also a 4K player that also comes with a controller as powerful as a PS5 or XSX for $500 or $350 the XSX was going for for a couple of weeks.

Price is a factor for PC's for me sure, but it more has to do with the fact that a PC won't just play a game like a console will. You might have to mess with settings or figure out why you are getting error screens etc. You also need to install new cards and be technical enough to be able to detach and reattach memory and graphics cards and whatever other new thing you want without breaking anything and then hoping that stuff you just installed is indeed compatible and doesn't screw up something else. Consoles are just so much easier and are a better bang for the buck.

Exactly this, the convenience factor of a console is huge for me. I don't want to have to deal with a game crashing on my computer, USUALLY you can just fire up a console game and play with no issues.

I agree on the latter part. But just think about how much you have saved thanks to gamepass and try to put that $ towards a gaming PC to complement the Xbox.

You get ultrawide option, cheap storage (install gamepass games on PC with non nvme drive or even old hhd), not to mention all the performance benefits. Now a days GeForce and AMD has tools that automatically set the optimized settings for your PC if you don't want to mess with the settings. But to me that's half the fun.

the option to play every single game pass games on TV, ultrawide monitor and in various rt, HDR settings and mods is great. The only option you don't want is paying $70 for it

I may have posted this before but I think I found a genuine scam game on the marketplace - Presidential Beatdown: Legends has no videos I can find anywhere online. The only info I can find online is from the reviews on the marketplace, which are all 1 star and say the game won't load. Except for 1 review that gives it 5 stars.

I can't track the studio and since I game share my xbox collection with several people, a bunch of them are downloading this game out of curiosity and keep complaining it won't work. I wasn't expecting much when I bought this and I won't contact Microsoft about it because it's cheap (under a $1) and I bought it out of region, but this further enforces my rule to not buy any game that can't be bothered to put achievements in it and be a 'real' xbox game.

Alot of these achievement less indie game steal assets from IP like Spider-man, hell I had a game that straight up took enemies and background from Metroid, but they get hard pulled alot.

Someday I'd like to be a homeowner so I can enjoy my consoles on an Atmos setup without having to worry about noise complaints from neighbors or being evicted by a landlord~ 🥹
These days you're much better off spending the $2/300 for an awesome headset instead of the $2/3000 for a decent Atmos setup. I have both. The Home theatre is definitely better overall , but mainly just because you don't have to wear anything and the bass is much better. Directionality is pretty excellent on the headphones.

I’ve never understood people who argue about gaming. Just enjoy whatever platform you decide to play on. If people prefer something else so be it. I imagine most people in here are adults by now, arguing over video games is for children thats my opinion on that.

I don't see how users respectfully discussing the pros and cons of PC gaming vs console gaming equates to "arguing over video games".

I have a couple users ignored so maybe I missed a post or two, but I haven't seen any recent posts here devolve into straight up console warring.

I think most of us are pretty old these days, I know for me, I own a gaming PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One X, Xbox One w Kinect, Playstation 5, Switch, 3 Switch Lites, Wii, Gamecube, Xbox 360 w Kinect, SNES Mini, NES Mini, and a Meta Quest 2. So when I talk about being confused on the Xbox Strategy, its not really that I care about "console wars", its just that sometimes I don't understand the business decisions. I like a healthy gaming market for all the companies so that they keep releasing games that I want to play. I don't really want Microsoft to exit the console market ever because I think its good to have the competition between Xbox, Playstation and Switch.

What do you usually do with the other switch lites? Or are they special editions?

I own just about everything you listed as well. Heck I barely have anytime to game with a newborn anymore. I figure I’ll pass everything down to him eventually. I spend most my time collecting older generation stuff. Recently just got a Wii U and Atari 7800 with a huge lot of games. Thankfully where I live people often sell older gen stuff now knowing prices. If Microsoft exits the console scene it would be a bad thing for the console scene. Having less competition for Sony I feel like gaming development would get stale.

Colecovision when I was growing up. A bit of PC gaming then I got an Xbox, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch and PlayStation 5.

I still play my Series X far more than the others with GamePass, backwards compatibility and just like the ecosystem as a whole. As long as I can get GamePass reasonably cheap (and already have it through July 2026) and get day one games, etc. I’ll still be sticking with Xbox.

Colecovision was amazing. It was the best home version of Spy Hunter imaginable, plus lots of console exclusives like Ladybug and Carnival. Every game looked so much better than the 2600 (with good reason), but if you had asked little kid me would Atari and Coleco go extinct as video game mfgs in the future, I probably would have guessed that Magnavox must have really killed it with the Odyssey 50.

At one time I had damn near every mainstream console (and a couple that weren't) with sizable (though not necessarily rare) libraries for each.

I've pared back. Genesis, Dreamcast, PS4 PS5 and Switch are my main consoles for physical these days. I have a Series X with a modest library, current-gen and BC, but nothing like the libraries I have for the other systems listed. Most of what I had pre-PS4 got liquidated to help fund a down payment on a house.

reason to have xbox when one already has a gaming pc at the moment:

1. sport games: mlb doesn't have pc port, pc ports of ea/nba either don't exist/last gen version or runs poorly

2. xbox/ms rewards, based on my own finding, having an xbox could get at least 2x points (easily 5k vs 10k points monthly on the lowest estimate)

3. some games like dead island 2 are only on console for game pass, playanywhere games, wanting to play fps/fighting vs console player only, etc.

basically, in order to make the most out of gamepass ultimate, an xbox and a gaming pc is needed. it's the only way to play every single game on gpu and take advantage of everything that are being offered.
It was rhetorical to make a point. For me it's 99% Xbox vs PC for GPU, but the option is nice when a game is PC only.

I dogged Xbox for years and never owned the OG box, only picking up 360 when Gears of War launched, plus wanting to play Fable. Never cared for Halo and still don't TBH, but it was wild to me how I had a 360 die on my with a library of less than 5 games total at the time and rarely played. I thought that would be the end of my relationship with Xbox but did eventually get an XB1 for a few games, which I'm actually failing to recall. . .

It wasn't until GPU that the tables turned hard in favor of Xbox and XSX was the first time I bought their console at launch. So I'd say my experience was wildly different and it has only been the last few years that they became my primary console choice. The PS5 is still in storage and I think it's finally time to let it go next time GS is offering a good rate.

What do you usually do with the other switch lites? Or are they special editions?
Bought them for my kids, they play Rocket League, Minecraft and Fortnite on the Switch together in the same room and take them when we go on planes or car drives.

Yeah, I loved my Colecovision. It didn’t get as much notoriety as the Atari 2600 but it definitely had better versions of all those arcade ports. I actually still have mine in the attic. Bring it out every once in a while for some memories.

With emulators now on iOS, I keep hoping for a Colecovision app.

My 1st console was Atari 2600, but really wanted a Colecovision. Even telling mom it had an adapter to play the 2600 games didn't help me get one though lol. I moved on to NES, Genesis. PS1, PS2, Dreamcast, Xbox 360, Xbox One and now Series S. The backward compatibility solidified my choice to stay with Xbox. I faced a tough choice to go with 360 or PS3 at the time. My favorite genre was sports and many games looked better on 360 at that time.

Since I discovered dev mode and emulation, I sold all my old consoles snd only now need a 360 and Series S.

My first was an NES. The funny thing is I remember always having it, since I can remember. But I never actually remember getting it. We just....had it. Hell, I don't even remember buying games for it (besides the janky Bible games that were exclusively sold at the Christian store)

Literally have owned everything at one point or another including PCs since I started with a combo of an Atari 2600 and Tandy Color Computer. Well I didn't own a Neo-Geo, only drug dealers did. I'm talking like a TI, Atari ST/7800/5200 hahaha a 32x. The Xbox 360 has to be my favorite console of all time. I'm sure it's a lot due to time and place of being mid 20's with a lot of disposable income, advent of a "real" online console along with cable internet coming along. First time I saw Fight Night in HD and held the greatest form factor controller, that's still the base today, I was all the way in. These little pop ups telling me I got achievement points, and I started doing dumb fun stuff in games in a whole different way. Xbox Live arcade was the greatest thing and when they finally started to do digital full games I was so lazy and in (yes that goes against the basis of this stie). I got a launch Xbox One, got a One S, got a Minecraft One S, got a Xbox One X (Scorpio Edition), got a Xbox Series X and a Series S.... and I think I might be done with them.

I don't care about Indy, it belongs in a muse... I mean multi platform with that IP. I'm getting tired of sitting on the side while other games release all over but Xbox. Last year dealing with the FOMO with Baldur's Gate 3 now I want to check out Black Myth Wukong and yeah I'm not playing games that I want to because of my chosen console. Marvel vs Capcom was an eye opener to me. It never was about that Xbox has these great exclusive games, but it had everything I wanted to play and the best way to do it. It's becoming clear 3rd parties don't really care about the platform due to the low install base and making all your games multi-platform isn't going to grow that install base

I remember the death spiral of a brand like this. It was called the Sega Dreamcast, kind of ironic that the OG Xbox was basically the Dreamcast 2

Honestly think it may be good that Xbox is getting Black Myth Wukong later. It has some big performance issues on PS5. Quality and balanced modes stutter like crazy and IMO are unplayable (yes, I got it).

Performance mode is actually running at 30 FPS but they’re using some kind of technical trick to display at 60 FPS. And that’s causing the game to sometimes miss your inputs. I’ve had plenty of times where I hit the heal button and it doesn’t register. Sometimes I hit it again and end up using it twice by accident because of lag from the first input.

It’s certainly playable but should be running a lot better and can be frustrating at times on performance mode with inputs.

Hopefully the Xbox version will have less issues. They’ve said the PS5 fix may take a while and they’re blaming some sort of bottleneck causing problem.

Clearly the dev put PC over console in development. Heck, part of the delay may have been because they were already having enough trouble with PS5.

I mean I bought or played almost everything that they did with ACA Neo-Geo. League Bowling is a GOAT. Which points exactly back to the big problem, there are literally hundreds of A(rcade) C(lassic) A(rchives) titles not Neo-Geo that only the Switch and Playstation get. I'm not going to be that person and say they are easy to port as "Right Click Save as Xbox" but.... they kind of are

I wish I knew how to do this better with quoting, but I don't so whatever. Here is the thing. I have nothing against Phil, he seems like a nice guy, I'm not a Phil is always lying guy. 5 years or more ago I was like so when is Phil going to start to get the games out? and they had some come out and they were more or less Meh except maybe the Forza Horizon series. The reality under Phil Spencer is now Avowed is going to be a 5 year game since trailer and release, and now after the "purchase" he's got a lot more people looking for his head. I mean how long was it between the PS5 could be outselling the xbox 5 to 1 in Europe report and they closed Tango and Arkane Austin, then sold Tango for peanuts. I just don't think he can get it done eve, he's had a lot of time.

oh yeah he wore that t-shirt one time and they made another horrible Battle Toads game, all of the B-toads games are horrible, don't lie
