Xbox Live Fall 2011 Dashboard Out Now - 12/06/11.
You're wrong in the fact that the Xbox 360, I feel, will be a system that thrives for the next 4 years, even with the 720 coming. The PS2 is evidence this can happen.

It's not as if this system is dead once the new system comes out. Whether or not both systems have the same dash (I somehow doubt that) remains to be seen.
Don't put words in my mouth, ever. I said they're using this as a beta test for the dashboard on the 720, nothing more.

woah, easy killer. wasn't trying to come at you the wrong way. was just giving my opinion. I don't think both systems would use the same dash, maybe they would though.

How long did it take to get the actual update on your dashboard once you were "IN" the beta? I accepted the update and downloaded it with the key via Xbox.com but was only able to hook my console to Live today to "formally" register my system (I just moved and did not have Internet till today). I really want to watch the UFC tonight but it told me 1-2 days before I get the update when I finally connected to Live.

Thanks for the help.

It was about 24 hrs for me. I wanted some of that free UFC action!
Did you run the Beta Registration Application under the Games Library?
Yes, thats what I did today. I was hoping that putting it in my download que on Xbox.com would quicken the process.
Anyone else in the dashboard beta having trouble with ESPN? I can't get it to work. Everything else is fine.
Yeah it bombed out on me earlier.

Too bad the UFC PPV has "no more room" for beta testers. Ugh.

That sucks, good thing I signed up right away. You would think they would want as many people trying that app as possible to really bug test it before its released to the genral public in the next few weeks.

Well I guess it does not matter when I get into it then. I don't understand whey would not allow all beta testers into the streaming considering the beta has limited users anyways. Oh well. Looks like I will be heading out to the bar to watch it.

If I knew there was a limit to the amount of people that could order the PPV, I would've done it up front. I probably would've just forgotten about it and played Skyrim instead anyway.

It has worked for me so far, but takes a really long time to launch. Too long.

EDIT: I take it back. It is broken. I just tried and it takes a long time and then just gives an error. I even tried deleting the app and reinstalling it, but it didn't help. Oh well.

Yep thats the problem I have had all day.

FWIW, I just tried to get the UFC stream again and it WORKED, so if you weren't able to get in earlier today try again, they must have opened more slots. Starts in about 20 minutes.

I was getting a connection error saying "Can't retrieve all required information" last night. I deleted the app and saved info, cleared the cache, re-downloaded it, and then it worked.

Don't really like MMA but I'll watch it for free and it looks great for me in HD. I hope they can get some deal with Showtime or HBO so they can show some boxing.

Isn't hbogo coming to xbox?

I think so but you need a subscription to HBO in addition to your cable/satellite bill which defeats the purpose of the TV app.

True, but my cable won't put HBO on HD w/o a DVR rental of $10/mo. So that removes that problem for me.
That was an intensely phenomenal main event.
Good stuff!

That main event was awesome and the UFC app is pretty awesome too. Best of all I topped my friends list going 5-0 on the picks and got the finish type right on 4 of them.

EDIT - Just exited the stream and went back in, they're showing other fights...Coleman/Bonnar right now.

Yeah, I was 0/5
Looks like there is 5, almost 6 hours of fights to rewatch
There's not. They have a couple of fights at the beginning, the feed then goes through about 2 hours of feed stuff and then the preview. The actual replay starts at around the 3 hour mark.

Yes, this was an awesome perk to get this fight! Was glad to watch it with friends and didnt have to go to a bar lol.

Bummer watched the 1st two non main event fights and my timer said 5 hours to go. I went to bed and was going to watch some more this am.

Also while I enjoyed the fights I wonder what the price will be for future fights. I believe this last ppv cost was $54.99 for the hd strem which is to steep for me.
I missed it, sigh. Hope there's a replay of it...
If you were in the beta and bought it you can replay it. If not you can go to UFC website and it is $1.99 per fight from what I saw to watch
Yeah, I was 0/5
I noticed...wasn't going to say anything ; )

This app may come in handy, at least for me. Have a friend who has no problem plunking down the 60 bucks for a fight but he dumped his cable tv. The Xbox option ensures. I'll be able to mooch off him in the future. Can't speak for everyone but I had zero issues with the stream and it worked just as well for me as a DVR. I'm hoping they throw in some extras for Xboz Live users (preim fights, bonus older fights, etc) but even if not I definitely see this as something I would consider using in the future.

UFC app worked phenomenally for me. And I have to say, having a Kinect, it actually made the features more badass. I was like "Xbox - rewind" and watched Faber's sweet guillotine again. I felt like a Boss, lol.

The one thing I wish you could do is split the cost among an Xbox Live party. Similar to the Netfix "party watch" feature, I think that would be really cool.

I am hating Kinect in the ESPN app. Enough so that I think I'm going to need to disconnect it whenever watching video. It keeps thinking I'm waving when I'm not doing anything of the kind. I can even be completely still. Sometimes triggers every 30 seconds or so. Pretty freaking irritating. I don't recall this problem before the dashboard beta, but I'm not sure if it's dashboard related or not.

Im enjoying the kinect commands with the new dash. Didnt try ufc though. Sometimes my voice commands dont work over my music or dogs, but its still fun to use.

I am actually disappointed this dash will be coming out so soon. That means MS will literally take NO input from the users once again on how they feel about the current dash. I've never had much a problem with any of the dashboards, but I hate this one so much. It is about everything except your own games. Oh well, since I enjoy xbox live and its features I'm stuck with it.

The only thing I don't like about the new dash is that it's hard to find where to download arcade and indie games. Seems like the interface just smooshes together arcade and games on demand. Then the games on demand dominate the list.
I think so but you need a subscription to HBO in addition to your cable/satellite bill which defeats the purpose of the TV app.
This. OMG. I have a Roku and they recently just got HBO go..but of course you need a subscription to HBO, which means you have a cable subscription as well...which, IMO, defeats why many people are switching to Roku. I canned my cable company, but I would not be opposed to ordering a few channels.

It's ashame, because having whatever channels you want on your streaming console of choice would be amazing.
The dash is coming out in 2 weeks yet the Beta has neither HBO Go nor YouTube ? I don't understand that.
Not every app will be available at launch. Or the app does not need testing beyond what they have done internally.

none of the apps announced this year are available yet, not to mention the bing search doesn't display search results for movies/tv shows on netflix or hulu plus meaning those apps still haven't been updated yet either. that has been the one thing i have been disappointed with in this dashboard beta. i just hope everything is ready to go by december 6th but it doesn't sound like it from major nelson's post.
The way the new dash handles the sales is miserable.
I don't get why putting ALL of the deals in one, easily-accessible location is hard for Microsoft to do.

I noticed that if you have games installed on your hard drive and then try to purchase the digital version of any of them, the purchase option isn't available.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the "enhanced family settings" are going to be. My sister has two kids and she really wants a timer so she does not have to fight them about their play time. The problem is the current dashboard only allows a single timer for the system and not for the account. Anyone know if they are finally going to allow individual accounts to be set with a timer?

Honestly hating this update, and have posted on the Connect Feedback sections with all the issues I'm hating, which is pretty much 100% of this new dash.

Because of this dash I'm using my PS3 much, much more than ever. I cringe every time I turn the 360 on anymore.

Hate the look of the dash, hate how everything is so tough to find, no interest in beacons, cloud storage, the social networking garbage, I'll probably never use the Bing function, and the only good thing I can see is the way my own games now appear in the big icon slide show.

This dash is just pure fail....

You're kind of blowing it out of proportion. New things take time to learn, which you could do if you'd stop trying to avoid it. And whether or not you're interested in Cloud storage, it's obviously a very useful addition for many people (that PSN+ also has).

I'm actually enjoying the new dashboard, if you have a Kinect navigating it is great and even without one I'm able to find everything that I need. There are a few tweaks I think they should do (Mainly some organization on the main page) but overall I'm happy with it and am looking forward to more features being added. With all of the arcade games and indie games there are a lot of ways to organize through them now once you get to the right pages.
