Xbox Live Fall 2011 Dashboard Out Now - 12/06/11.

I just got the update as well but I haven't looked at it yet though.

Edit: I like how it's quick now but it looks ugly :( I just hope they release the Youtube app soon!

Of my two consoles, one updated successfully. The other always hangs during the update process. Problem is it's my main console! Now I can't get online with it at all because the update is mandatory. Argh...

Ugh, I'm at college at the moment, so I'll have to check it out once I get home tonight.

I'm gonna see how well some themes look with the new dashboard. Any so far that look better or worse? How are premium themes?

The themes are done, those premium ones no longer have the friends thing, only the picture

The games library is terrible. It shows all of your games in a horizontal list that just shows boxarts that is kind of similar to the friends list on the NXE dashboard. It doesn't let you auto-scroll back to the top when you reach the bottom either, so it's kind of clunky when the old text list was good as is. I'd have loved to have customization options to organize my games library how I please like the PS3's folder system since I don't like having XBLA demos mixed in with paid games.

The good thing about the games library is that clicking on a game brings up a page that's similar to the Games Marketplace page for that game with the themed background, ways to access the DLC and such on the marketplace page, and leaderboards/achievements that makes it a huge upgrade over the bland pages that had just had achievements/leaderboards.

For people wondering, the cloud storage gives you 511 MB to work with. I don't think I see an option to tell it to automatically upload saves for certain games to the cloud

If you liked the custom backgrounds for the NXE friends list, they kind of appear when you click on yourself under the social tab. NXE themes still work, but there's nothing in the bottom half of the screen since NXE blocked that part of the themes.

Just found something really annoying. When you're playing a game it will notify you when a friend gets on the same game, and when you press the guide button it takes you to beacons.... I hate this beacon nonsense

Takes about 20 seconds for it to appear after starting up my system and it's about the same time after exiting from an XBLA game, which seems to take you right back to your games library.

Cloud storage seems to just act as another storage device when a game asks you where you want it to load/store saves, though I would prefer a way to store my saves locally and then upload saves for certain games on the cloud when new saves are created.

Called tech support (sounded like an actual American or Canadian person!) and got the issue straightened up after 30 minutes or so. Eventually had to turn off my modem for 5 minutes, and that fixed the problem. Yay! Updated.

My games list loads virtually instantly so far, though it takes a while for the images to show up. Much better than before.

Xbox Live must be having problems, as I've been disconnected twice in a short time and I can at least say that the dashboard doesn't look like a barren wasteland any more when that happens. Some things in the games marketplace where taking a while to load, so I'm guessing that it's an issue on MS's side.

Actually if you click on the friend it shows up in the background.

Also, disappointed that the TV tab isn't there yet, was hoping to try out the various new streaming apps (Youtube, Crackle, etc.).

For some reason when I turn on my 360 now it signs me in, but it doesn't sign me into Live. Anyone else having this problem after the update?

I clicked my friends and not even the avatars loaded so I'll try again later.

hmmm... I entered in my Beta Key last Saturday... never saw any Beta channel before now and it's not asking me to update... any ideas?
Did you load the beta app that your beta key let you download?
I thought I did but I didn't, I'm clearly an idiot. Thanks.

Ran it, don't know if it will update anytime soon now but we'll see, thanks again.

I can't stay connected to Live for more than a few minutes since updating, and reconnecting barely works either. Anyone having similar problems?
Um, I know that I'm in the minority of people who care about these, but where the hell are the indie games?
Games > Game Marketplace > Games > Game Type > Indie Games

The marketplace interface isn't that good right now. They should rethink how this stuff is organized since I should be able to organize the new releases list by game type without going to a completely separate part of that tab to get that functionality. I'm glad that they at least have the game deals in the games section since it was completely hidden in NXE.

It's harder to find the indie games, but you have to go to games > games marketplace > then games > go to the big picture and right analog through until you see Kotaku's Favorites.

What I don't like about this new dash is that it sorta kills the premium themes. I'd be mad if I paid for premium and now they don't look the same anymore. Also things just take more scrolling to find.

Thanks...I guess I just didn't dig deep enough!
I haven't made up my mind on this new dashboard yet. I think the ads are less intrusive, even though there are probably more of them. I do like the speed of things and I think that the beacons could be cool, but I haven't played around with it much.

I'm going to try out the bing search next...maybe I should have asked it where the indie games were.
For the life of me I can't find the deals of the week. Any ideas?
It's the top right square on the Games tab that says "Fighting Games" on it.

I saw the cloud storage in settings for game saves. 512 MB is a good amount. :) Aren't we also supposed to be able to put our gamertag in the cloud? Anyone figure out how to do that?

So far I'm not liking the new dashboard. Probably just need to get used to it.

Every time they release a new dash I complain that I don't like it and then when I start to get used to it and begin to like it they release another. This is just something we will have to get used to. I do like that the dash seems to be a tad bit quicker than the old one, less lag and such.

can anyone get on the xbox private forum for the beta? I keep getting "group not found" or "opps it moved"
