Xbox One Console Thread (Console is currently in stock as of 12/3 at Amazon)

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/128874-Xbox-One-Headset-Adapter-Required-For-All-Third-Party-Gear-Coming-in-2014

I just want to use my Astros God Damnit! Xboxsupport twitter said its a rumor site, however the console is less than a month away. They would of mentioned if the adapter was ready. Also why would turtle beach lie?
From all of what I seen its true, there won't be an adapter until early 2014.

But with the way the higher end Astros work I imagine getting Audio over the headset will be as simple as using the optical port on the X1. As a work around you might be able to use your Astros for audio and that fancy new Kinect as your mic until the adapter gets released but this is just 100% speculation on my part.

Yup, game audio will work no problem. The adapter is for the mic. I'll be using that method too...with audio coming from the headset I don't need the TV volume on, so I don't have to worry about other sounds going into the kinect mic.

Yep this was my line of thought too. Without the TV volume on there should not be any kind echo like what happens when kids use there Kinect mic and have the TV blasting. Because of my current headset I think I will still have to pick up a new headset but I might just spring for the A40s or whatever and just be done with it.

Some reading for the trolls that infest this thread:

Sony try fake PS4 reviews. Only trusted and paid journos got retail PS4 as it keeps overheating

I don't really have any "insider" information to share but I do have many contacts in the gaming media and can tell you that everything Kevin Dent (the aforementioned developer) has posted there is true. Sony has completely dropped the ball. Dropped it down into a sewer. They've managed not just to piss off 99% of the gaming media but have actually frightened some of them, including Adam Sessler, into considering leaving the gaming industry entirely.

Gaming journalists have had Xbox One consoles for weeks now and were expecting to receive PS4 debug units over the weekend. Instead they have been told only a very small number of major media outlets would be getting a console and no one will be given the ability to capture direct-feed video. To say these members of the gaming media are shocked, hurt and pissed would be the understatement of understatements.

Cherry picking which media outlets are given debug consoles and cutting everyone else out is the same as paying for reviews. It sad to see people trying to minimize and downplay what is happening here like, not surprisingly, SonyGAF is doing. These are real people being hurt not random fanboys on a gaming forum with no real connection to the industry. The damage Sony is doing is real and affects many people's lives. To them this isn't just a game.

Hahahah, your source is a LiveJournal by someone who admits to not having any insider information. Hahahah.

That wasn't written by him, it was written by the first of many people he is citing.  I'm as excited for this launch as I was for the PS3 launch now.  Time to watch Sony scorch their early adopters for the third time in a row.  More is going to happen before launch too.  Like this guy says, it makes sense now why Microsoft is limiting what they show officially, yet are letting anybody and everybody play the Xbox One in 175 different cities (one of those people being me).  They know Sony is up to the usual methods and they want to hold their stuff until Sony finally is forced to and the world sees at the same time what each corporation is offering.  This is going to be absolutely delicious to watch.

Actually, no.

They are pissed because companies like EA Ubisoft don't want them to even PLAY their games. Just watch them, right a review and then have to send them in and if they dont like what it says, they dont get published.
What is this? 4chan?

Hahahah, I predict the disappearance of the Neo account.

Sony is letting people play the PS4 too. >_>

Quick question for those of you that pre-ordered at walmart. On my receipt it just says "Xbox One HWR 088xxxxx2158" with no reference to the day one edition on there. I pre-ordered this back in August when it was first available too, so my question is, is that the day one edition just with no indication or what?

They scanned it from a corporate sheet and also I somehow got $100 off my Xbox one.. It said "was $500 you saved $100." Which means I only had to put down $40 to reserve it.
Anyone?

Sounds like the gamestop I have mine preordered at isn't doing a midnight launch, said it'd cost to much to keep the mall open or something like that. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Just have to figure out where to preorder games from I like the Dell promotion, but I'm betting you won't get the game for at least 3 or 4 days after launch.

I've decided to skip the game preordering. I'll just stroll down to one of the local retailers and pick up a few. I thought about going download only, but I think it will be faster to buy at least one game physically. The servers are going to be getting hammered.

Your guess is probably as good as anyones. Target had preorder cards that said "Day One 2013" but they aren't promising Day One editions.

Yeah, I won't preorder at GS for sure, the guys there gave me this whole BS story about 'oh the games will be so hard to come by, you better go ahead and preorder them now'. I've never known games to be -that- hard to come by for a system, they also insisted that people with PS4 preorders would buy X1 games because they'll 'eventually get the system'. It was actually a pretty comical conversation, when we left even my wife was like 'wtf they're crazy'.

lol if i had a guy tell me that i would have had lol at him when he said games would be hard to find.

What games are you pre-ordering? Keep in mind Ghosts and BF4 come out earlier than the system itself.

looks like xbox website changed to the x1 look tonight :bouncy:
When I woke up today I was thinking to myself if they would do a big switch over like they did for the Xbox 360. I was going to ask Major Nelson about it but I'll have to go check that out now.

Also, LOL at that GameStop story. Can you imagine a person buying games the day they come out for the opposite system they are actually buying? Games, one of the fastest things to drop in price and depreciate in value, being bought well before you intend to use them. Must have been a desperate day at GameStop.

I love the new look too.  I love the "Get The Facts" page too under the Xbox One tab.  Very well done, and needed.

I think it's great ms is making all their product have the same interface w 8,windows phone and now x1. i think the new site looks more clean then the old one.

i can't wait till best buy opens up the kiosk for use i might have to pitch a tent inside the store.  :bouncy:  Its on of those things i really don't need it at launch but i WANT one at launch. God i hate being a tech geek/gamer at times it's not a cheap hobby. :/

I like that too, and I hope to get a Windows 8 phone finally sometime in the second half of 2014.  I've loved Android for many years but will finally make the change with my next phone and plan.  My Windows 8 Ultrabook has been perfect and one of the best purchases of my life along wit the Xbox 360.

Also Sony uses forced student labor to assemble their consoles, if the students don't take part they don't graduate.
That same company which is "hiring" these workers also builds electronics for Microsoft, Apple, and other big name companies. Probably most of what we buy. Lol.

love my windows phone. It has a few annoyances but Nokia makes some really nice phones.

Had a guy at GS try to tell my brother that he needed to preorder the Black Ops 2 Season pass cause they would be hard to come by after the game launched. All I could do was laugh.

Is it true that if we apply Amazon GC to our pre-order on Amazon that we get pushed to the back of the list for pre-orders? If so I'm just gonna cash out $500 in Kindle Cards at GS and BBY, I don't wanna risk not getting it Day One.

Why would that push you back on the list? Your preorder should be locked and applying credit to your order should not affect a preorder.

No. You can add Amazon GC to your order without being bumped to the back of the preorder queue. The issue occasionally occurs if you change payment methods (I.e switch from a Discover card to a Visa). I paid off both my Xbone and PS4 by adding Amazon GC's and they are both set for delivery on their respective launch days.

That's a lot of $$$ on Amazon GCs! ;)

I just changed my shipping address on my Amazon order and now get "Delivery Estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date."

Hopefully all is well.

Not necessarily guys who know everything. There are at least 50 people on the Amazon forum who got their delivery date messed up when applying GCs.

Random Q.. but i was looking on ebay and noticed some people are selling their Xbones with release day delivery straight from Amazon.

Would Amazon allow that? Basically the sellers are changing the shipping address of their order so it goes straight to the seller. Smart idea if you ask me as shipping the box looks painful.

It happens all the time, I guess they ship them to people as a 'gift' via amazon or something? I'm not sure but it's definitely allowed, I've bought plenty of blu-rays straight off ebay that have shipped direct from amazon to me.

Right.. i figured you can send as a 'gift'. I just had never thought of it..

But that is also a potential way for the seller to get ripped off. No signature confirmation, etc., which is what you need when you use eBay to sell big ticket items.

As long as the buyer is honest you would be fine, but if you get someone dishonest you might be screwed and we know there are a good amount of dishonest people out there.

Any word on when Day One editions of games will be released? I know Ghosts and BF4 are pretty much confirmed to be at least that Tuesday of release, but any word on whether Ryse and Dead Rising 3 will follow that same pattern?

True. But I believe amazon ships out Ups which will require signature.
