it was more like selling computer products to companys around mid west
So they interviewed you to be a sales rep. BFD. That's not the same as working for Microsoft corporate.

I don't see how that qualifies you to spew half the nonsense you've been doing in this thread.
so if ps4 and x1 both have this feature your saying for next 10 years people here will stick with 360 / ps3
And this is where the WiiU starts to see sales...

Personally this and the PS4 look lackluster. I got plenty of backlog to see how this roller coaster goes. This next generation looks like it will go by pretty fast.

I think there's a good chance they back this out and if they don't there's no reason to believe that PS4 will be as horrible as this; I don't HAVE to play video games man and there's always Nintendo. You act like there's no alternative to Xbox.

Let me say this, if there were no alternative to Xbox, this would possibly go to the federal trade commission because of this scheme they've probably done with GameStop to raise prices in the aftermarket.
But this is the future, you won't be able to play the 360 forever. I am curious to see what a company like Gamefly does about this though.

While I understand I won't be able to play my Xbox 360 forever, the consumer decides with their wallet what is future.

Well the good thing is all these rumored features is software based so they can reverse course if needed.

(Except for bc)
The funny thing is: I bet 90% of the people who are complaining will buy the console still.
Well, I'm for sure in the other 10%. I've said it before and I'll say it again and again, "I'm as loyal as they come, but I've come to realize it's time to jump ship."
They don't have to bully the devs. The devs want this. It's the consumers that it fucks.
alot of it has to to with no money made on used games plus piracy is a major issue on the 360

I do not support anti-user friendly anti-consumer devices. I have no idea why I even bought the 360 as I refuse to pay for gold. I am more than happy going to casual games this gen as I have more than enough games that I never even play. I would rather play microtransaction games than have to deal with the crap MS is putting out now. I also despise windows 8, just another huge blunder by MS. My win 7 computer doesn't even update properly and the updates cause all sorts of problems. Looks like I am using the money I save by not buying any consoles this gen to get myself a Mac.

I totally agree. But Microsoft isn't a fly-by-night companies. True groundbreaking companies lead the way and tell you what you need, not what you want.

The future is complete media integration, they see this and are targeting it. I personally don't know why they care about used games, but since I don't buy them, I don't care.

I agree.

At this point the PS3, 360, and Wii U look far more appealing that paying out the ass for features I do not want from the PS4 and Xbox One.

If anything I'll join the PC master race in a couple of years.

What do you do with YOUR used games? Personally, I DON'T HORDE. What the fuck are you going to do with your useless disks that you'll never play again? Sell them on eBay? Opps nope! Guess you'll trade them into GameStop for EVEN LESS or just keep them. Many people on this site have hundreds of games in their backlogs. Combine that with all the games they've finished and if they didn't get rid of shit they'd probably have an entire bedroom of games.

people bashed xbox 360 left and right because of the red ring. In the end 360 outsold ps3 by tons and huge number of people use xbox live. i really could not see what issue with live was most of the time if you shop right you get a years worth of service for 40 bucks which is alot cheaper then other entertainment options. heck i pay for ps plus and live and think both are great values.

let's wait till the systems come out and see if all this stuff is still in the system. the systems don't come out for another six months seeing it's program base all this might not even happen with all the bash that is going on. i only sell games to gamestop when they have decent trade in deals going on like trade 3 get extra 10 bucks and thigns like that you always end up with the amount you should get.

The more I read on this the more content I am to stay with my 360 for a while. I see absolutely no reason to buy either this or PS4 at launch right now.

The next big announcement is going to be how they have partnered up with Gamestop/Amazon/Whoever in order to process online trades. Said resellers will sell license keys at a discount (from MSRP) when you trade in your "used" games. Discounts will suck.

Also MSRP will always be 59.99

come e3 microsoft = games gmaes games games

sony = tv tv tv entertainment becasuse we did not cover it in the system first look

me in nov = ps4 + x1 + pc = gaming heaven

I can see it now. Trade a new game in for $25. Resell for $45 + $10 key.

What makes me wonder is lets say 8-9 years down the road when this gen is done. What is gonna happen to all of these keys. Like does M$ just unlock every game? Because I certainly don't think xbox will have this console forever.

amazon i could deal with they give much better prices for games yo utrade in then gamestop. we will still have game sales those are mostly done by game companys them selfs.
This is a problem because it leads into what I feared. Charging more just based on the name. Oh CoD, lets add a premium, oh Madden, premium. Plus what publisher will actually price a 5 hour game correctly.
that never happens on pc with cod
I also don't know if this has been brought up because this thread is huge, but my biggest concern is that the 360 suffered such problems out of the gate with overheating and the RROD. Yet they give us a console that they basically want you to have on at all times, even when watching TV. Scary stuff to me.
Yep. And while I like the idea of having one set top box that can do my TV, Blurays and gaming, I'd also hate to be without that if the box died.

The one benefit to having a separate cable box, bluray player and game consoles is there's still plenty to do if one thing dies in the home theater set up.

But on the other hand, I hate the crowded TV stand and cord jungle behind it--so one do it all box is appealing in that sense. Especially if it can really seamlessly switch between things like in the demo today (I'm very skeptical of it really working that quickly though).

The only positive to the whole "code" BS with previously owned games I can think of is that it should cause the price of new games to drop quicker.

Its amazing to me how this industry is the only one where we don't really own anything. Oh gee, I buy a game and I have "permission" to play it. So much for buying a product and being able to do with it as you please.

I imagine there will be class action lawsuits once this new generation gets going. I'm actually appalled at this.

All that said, I'm definitely leaning PS4, but won't be getting one for at least 6 months to a year after launch. Early adoption of this generation seems foolish until everything is out.

They can have the XBox1. It'll be Xbox-1 because I seriously doubt I'll be getting it. Microsoft really left me unimpressed, even the cosmetics of the case is underwhelming. Next up, PS4, show me what you've got!

i can see the benefit of the TV aspect but I myself have no use for it. As a gaming console I would prefer to use it almost primarily for gaming. The XO seems to have this mantra backwards. Personally I don't even have an antenna pulled into my set.

for hte tv to work you hook up your current cable box to the x1 then hdmi out to your tv so still need two boxes so kind of defeats the purpose of having that in the xbox.

allow me to repost what I posted earlier. Off to play some Minecraft.

Personally I can live with the restrictions like always online, activations etc, because it is not an issue for me. HOWEVER there is no way in hell I want to live with them.

Do I want a console that is "always on"?
Hell no.
Do I want a system where all games are linked to my GT?
Hell no.
Do I want a system where I cannot lend games to buddies?
Hell no.
Do I want a console where I have to pay full MSRP for "used" games?
Hell no.

Mostly true--unless it can really do stuff as fast as in the video regardless of the cable box.

Which doesn't seem possible. My DirecTV DVR box is slow and clunky. Channel changes take a while--especially if the channels differ in resolution, menu is slow and clunky etc.

Voice command is nice too so I could do things like just say "Watch Spike TV" rather than having to google to find out what channel number it is or waste time scrolling through the guide like I had to this afternoon. I don't watch much other than sports and news live, so there's only a few channel numbers out of the hundreds I get that I have memorized.

But again, I'm very skeptical things will work as fast and smoothly as shown today. Especially if the Xbox One is just getting the feed from the cable/satellite box.
from what i understand if this happens the games are linked to your system NOT gamer tag.
From what I understand you're mistaken.

Usually trade them in GameStop rapes me now anyway.

hmm seems like ps4 might be little more powerful like last gen according ot reports x1 cpu/gpu runs at 1.6 and ps4 at 2.0 and ps4 has ddr5 and x1 has ddr3
If that shit goes through? You're wrong. On this site doubly so.
Nah, I don't believe so.

Something kind of tragic just occurred to me. The media functions that Microsoft is touting as the next big thing with the XBox One? Technically, Nintendo already implemented them with the Wii U, by allowing the system to control your television.

You can use the Wii U to switch the input on your television, and then change the channel however you please. You can even do this while still playing a game on your Wii U game pad, or even surfing the internet with the Wii U browser, on the game pad. And technically, this application is less intrusive to the experience, since the game play and TV feed are on separate screens.

So Microsoft's biggest selling point for the XBox One is something that Nintendo already did better, and will be selling for less.

well to clearafy any system with your gamer tag on it can play the game. according to things im reading is that anyone on your home system can play your game wiht any gamertag
my guess that will go down during sony e3 press conf when thye spend 40 mins talking about entertainment and os system and not games when microsofts will all be about games.
Are you that naive to think that the E3 conference will be all about games? When has it been all about games at E3 for M$.

It will start with COD gameplay, talk about Kinect and more features, talk more about the Xbox-EA "partnership", and maybe a couple new announcements, if that. E3 will not be all about the games for M$.

I'm still very undecided on whether to buy a next gen console at all, but here's my take on the issues you raised:

Do I want a console that is "always on"?

Don't care. I imagine it won't use much more power in standby than my DVR, I leave my desktop on all the time etc.

Do I want a system where all games are linked to my GT?

Not ideal, but I'm used to it with Kindle e-books, iPhone/iPad apps etc. Just the way things are going as we move closer to only having digital media.

Do I want a system where I cannot lend games to buddies?

Don't care as I'm a very casual gamer and don't have any local friends who game so it's a moot point.

Do I want a console where I have to pay full MSRP for "used" games?

This kind of sucks, but I seldom buy used anyway. And with the little I game these days I mainly just buy a handful of blockbuster type releases new at launch each year anyway. And definitely would only do that going forward as I want to get back to just playing a few big releases and never having a backlog.

I was worried a bit about having no way to trade/sell games to recoup some of the purchase cost as I always do that as I never replay games. But they've said there will be someway to trade games so I'll have to wait and see what that entails to form an opinion on that. Currently I just sell things on the Amazon marketplace cheap (set to the lowest price) to get rid of things quickly as I do it more to just get rid of the disc/case than to make money. Stuff that's not worth $10+ I just donate to Goodwill.

to be fair to microsoft using xbox to control tv has been their way before wii u was talked about. i have had the option to use my 360 as my tv box for att uverse since 2008. two years ago thye offered the same service to verizon vios customers.
