Steam Sales Elsewhere on CAG - Updated 11/2

Indie Bundle Threads - Updated 8/26

Free Stuff - Needs Updating

There are quite a few free and free2play games and mods on steam. You can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Has it been bundled yet? It seems like a prime candidate but I can't recall that it has and neither Indie Game Bundle nor Google is bringing anything up about it having been in a bundle. Nothing conclusive anyhow.

Rock of Ages hasn't been bundled yet, which I agree is a little surprising. But it is a pretty fun (and funny) game, definitely worth that price.
Worth noting it's published by Atlus, which probably makes a future bundling less likely than you might expect.

Obviously "Post-Humble-Origin World" rules apply here, so there's certainly no ruling out the bundling of anything at this point, but I don't think Rock of Ages is necessarily "bundle fodder."

Finally got my first foil dropped from a game after somewhere in the realm of 300 drops.  From Exceed 1 which I just got around to idling so who knows how long it'll sit on the market before it actually sells, but I'll take the couple bucks it's going for.

I got a foil drop from The Walking Dead, and it was only my second card drop ever. Where do people sell these things? I really don't care about trading cards at all so would be happy if I could make $ off them.

If you select the card in your steam inventory you should see a sell button to put it up on the steam marketplace. It will also show a graph of what the card has been going for recently.

You're best off going directly to the Marketplace tab and seeing what the card is currently going for, the graph doesn't take into account the stuff that's on sale right now.

the setup for selling should be streamlined to a single screen - the current state seriously sucks

Enhanced Steam does this - it shows the current lowest sales price on the inventory screen. It's kinda wonky though so it's marked as "beta" and not enabled by default. :)

Steam now shows both metacritic and meta"user" scores. I'm guessing it's the Enhanced Steam plugin though since it's not doing it in other browers.
Yep, that's Enhanced Steam!

How do I access the cards that I put up on sale and would like to lower prices on??? they do not show up in my inventory  and I have no idea how and where to find them or even how to access the so-called 'marketplace' on steam...

By the way, yey, Lemmy!!!

Steam inventory has been wacky today. It isn't you. I would just wait until tomorrow and then check your inventory. Then check the Steam Marketplace for you items to find the going prices.

Cards you've put up don't show in your inventory.  Just go to the marketplace page and you'll see them at the top.  If you don't see them then they've already sold.  As far as how to access the marketplace it's as simple as clicking on 'Community' then scrolling down to 'Marketplace.'

EA: 'We Don't Ship a Game at EA That is Offline'

EA COO Peter Moore has stated at Gamescom 2013 last week, "We don't ship a game at EA that is offline." Speaking to Engadget, he said, "It just doesn't happen," and emphasized "we don't deliver offline experiences."
Speaking about FIFA and Battlefield, Moore expressed that both franchises "have free-to-play options depending on where you are in the world.... The ability for you to be able to interact with those franchises on a free-to-play basis has got to be part and parcel to every major franchise we do now." He continued to say this is "very important to Electronic Arts" regardless of "how much money you've got in your wallet and where you are in the world."

And this surprised anyone because?

Although the article does go on to say that Sims 4 will have an offline mode so as usual EA makes some big grandiose controversial statement to stir the pot and then contradicts themselves like blowing wind about devaluing their IP and then putting some of their big franchises in a Humble Bundle.

Those of you holding out for Borderlands 2 GOTY may soon get your wish:

http://www.gamespot.com/news/borderlands-2-getting-game-of-the-year-edition-report-6413703

caveat: no word on whether or not it will include the stuff that is coming out very soon (2nd level cap increase and three headhunter DLC). So you may need to shift your focus to the Gold, Platinum, or Diamond editions if that happens...
Yeah I hope they don't pull that Civ V shit of Super Uber Extra Platinum Really For Real All The DLC This Time (PSYCHE! LOL) Edition.

So I finished my first playthrough of Gunpoint.  I enjoyed it, and I'll definitely go through again with different choices.  I just wish it ran better on this laptop.  For the art style, I didn't expect it to run choppily.  Had I known, I would have installed it to my desktop in the first place.

I'm glad I got the version that came with the soundtrack.  Good stuff.

Here's my personalized ending narration:  http://www.pentadact.com/category/conwaysblog/?K=15&U=20&C0=2&E1=1&C1=3&E2=1&C2=1&C3=3&C4=3&C5=1

Edit!

In other Steam news, I just earned my 6 years of service badge today, meaning six years ago tonight, I was playing Portal for the first time.

I went against my CAGiness lately and bought some early access/pre-order games because, well, I wanted them and was impatient.

I've played a few rounds of Sir, You Are Being Hunted and must say I love this game despite it being really challenging (to me at least) and dying all the time.

This review sort of captures the game pretty well:  http://jayisgames.com/archives/2013/08/sir_you_are_being_hunted_alpha.php

It's early access so you really are only buying into the one game mode right now with not a lot of options, but I know there are some stealth fans here, and this game is definitely stealth.  In fact, I've died each time I've encountered a robot and learned my slow ax is nothing compared to their shotguns.

At the very least, keep your eyes out on this one once it is released and see if it is bundled or put on sale.

I'm also interested in Shelter, but the minute I read it was from the same devs as PID I knew it was only a matter of days before that sucker will be IGS/bundled.

It pretty much just started: :whistle2:s
OK thanks for the links to the extra info. I didn't know that Volition was "opening" SR:TT up, but that would explain why I've heard of the recent mods (I think the first one that I noticed was called "Gentlemen of Steelport" or something similar). And if they're going to do the same for SR 2, well then it's time to break out the Septic Avenger and paint the town brown.

And nothing wrong with bat-shit crazy modders, from what I've heard that's what makes the mods so fun to play. :bouncy:

P.S. Like some of the above commenters, I already have the other DF games so I'll snap up Brutal Legend & soundtrack without a second thought at 75% off. One of the few games I'll gladly buy for every platform I own.

Weeklong deals get a back rap, but that's a beautiful price on Rock of Ages. That game is such delightful, batshit fun. Art history by way of Monty Python plus tower defense plus smashing stuff with big rocks. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Seconded. Rock of Ages is awesome and ridiculous, but pretty much only with friends (local or online works good IIRC).

Eh... that said, it's kinda dumb to put your stuff up for the lowest price unless the card is super new on the market and is tanking in price quickly. If you put your cards up for on of the recent high averages and just let it sit, it'll sell eventually almost every time. I put all my Exceed 1/2/3 cards up for 19 cents (21 cents on the market), and I only have one left to sell. Considering all of the cards have been as low as 14 off and on... I definitely fared better by just putting them up for a higher price and waiting.

I'm considering BL at this price but I've only played about a half-hour into the game on PS3 and I understand that the game turns into something like an RTS in later stages. Can anyone whose played the PC version comment on whether the controls are better or do you just end up playing with a gamepad anyway? If the controls are fundamentally similar, I'll be happy to stick with the PS3 version.

It's been out since yesterday in NA.
well thats even worse then.

ive always wanted to try out the Lost Planet games, but only if my friends would dip on it for the coop.

because of the bad reviews, they dont.

maybe theyll come out with a lost planet complete pack for 75% off with all the games in the series.

Edit: Apparently LP3 doesnt even have a coop mode. Its just single player and competitive mp.

so which friendly CAG is going to idle in empty servers until we all have Gun Monkeys?
I looked and there was only 2 US servers and both had at least 1 person in them.

Also they said “Free keys are limited per player, and it won’t generate free copies for ever"

Gun Monkeys is great. I can't speak for the game itself, but I can speak to the fact that I bought it for $9 and make about $12 off the cards. And then was given a free copy. And now have the chance to get more free copies. So... it's cool.

 That's a true CAG. I have no idea about the game but it's a great deal!

Of course now people will probably buy it trying to get free keys and log on to find that someone else already had the same idea and is already idling for keys.

It's not 75% off, and it's going into the backlog... but it's with card money.

Oh, Symphony. Decisions, decisions.

Hey, at least it has a KICKASS soundtrack.

I was looking into God Mode and while the store page says "single player" and that's technically true there's apparently no campaign or story at all, it's just a multiplayer game that you can happen to play solo.

I really wish Steam would make a distinction between a game designed with solo play in mind (ie campaign, story, the usual) and a multiplayer game that you can happen to solo if you choose.

You're not missing much with Symphony. It's a solid enough shooter where you can have your own music as the soundtrack but there's nothing groundbreaking here.

Save your pennies. It's decent but you'll probably get it from a bundle eventually anyway.

I posted some of my impressions with it here:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/317429-the-steam-deals-cards-thread-v9-brutal-legend-new-weeklies/?view=findpost&p=10996846

It's a good music based game, and not bad at 66% off, but you might wanna wait until it's at least 75% off or in a bundle.
well that made it easy, wait for a bundle I will .
