That's another week I can wait before activating my Plus although I'm tempted to just do it anyways since I don't plan on letting my subscription lapse anyway.
 
Definitely some weak sales (well, I would have bought all of those PS1 games if I didn't have them already). Might be more difficult than I thought getting to that $50 threshold this month.

I've never played the Crash or Spyro games. Kind of tempted, but I've got such a backlog that old PS1 games are likely to never get played. If they were playable on Vita, maybe...but big and ugly on my TV when I've got such prettier things to play seems unlikely.

 
How does EDF on the vita compare to the 360 version outside of portability? Do the graphics look nice on the vita screen and is it worth $15 for those who may have played both? I only played Insect Armageddon and heard that 2017 is actually better.

Any input would be appreciated.
 
Sweet! I was hoping the Activision sale would come to PS3 after being on 360 this past week. I may pick up Prototype now. And I'm definitely considering grabbing the Crash Bandicoot games. Too bad Crash Team Racing isn't on the list.

Hoping for a halloween/horror-themed sale this month.  Would like to pickup the Fatal Frame games, but would rather not spend $10/each especially since I already own the first two on disk.

Hopefully there will be something else on sale this week - all that they've announced are the PS+ related discounts for the week, correct?

Can anyone subjectively comment on the quality of the original Prototype v Prototype 2? I have #2 sitting on my shelf in queue, I was planning on skipping #1 (and still plan on it even for $10) but my mind could change if someone has a compelling pitch.

You are correct. And apparently I glossed over CTR. Thanks for the heads up from you and rpg instead of Jay's unhelpful remark. I know people love to troll, but pure insults are completely unnecessary.

@handsomepete For Protoype I heard the sequel is better and the Trophies/Achievements are extremely easy in Prototype 2 compared to the first game's since you don't have to grind for kills and get Gold and Platinum on events. I'm not sure if you care about those. I haven't played either game though so I'm definitely not an expert.

They are very necessary. Just look at this thread, we get far less stupid ass people in here than we did a few months ago. I'll take the credit for that.

I'd love that kind of sale. Anything to get Deadly Premonition on the cheap is a great idea.

I'm kind of against buying PS2 titles on the PS3, though. The emulation is pretty bad, and you'd be better off just playing them on an actual PS2.

I never played Prototype 2 because the first one was bad enough to turn me off completely. I was really excited for that game since it was by the guys who made Hulk Ultimate Destruction, but I was super bummed to have paid $60 for it. The visuals/framerate are pretty bad and the gameplay just felt like a mess to me. Story was pretty shitty, too. I hear the sequel is much improved so I'd just play that if you have it. And if you find that you love the series, a physical copy of the first game can be had for a similar price as the PSN sale.

When you say you beat the game, are you talking about 4-4 or 5-4? Because there is a 5-4. :) I have yet to get to 5-1. I am trying, and got close once, but no cigar.

I'm pretty bummed about the Crash and Spyro games going on sale, as none of them work on the Vita.  Sure, I could play them on my PSP, but I'm really enjoying having a 16GB card dedicated to PSP and PSOne games on my Vita and none of those games work on a US system.

Yeah, I wish the Crash games were playable on Vita as well. The first one is my second favorite game of all time.

 
Finally got around to playing guacamlee, it really is quite enjoyable. Finished normal and started a second run on hard, It definitely feels more complete on Hard mode as you have to make use of all the tricks and tools to stay alive. First DLC is costumes which give you different abilities, and the second DLC is challenge rooms. They are cheap ($2 and $3) but do they add much life to the game beyond additional trophies?

Baby steps, first 4-4, then try to make it to hell, then beat the game the "hard" way. I think I have a good system going though. Get to shopkeeper secret level, kill shopkeepers and steal everything, get Ankh, and now you have a good base to succeed. Psychic presence level in ice cave = jetpack if you kill the alien. I hate it when I don't get paste... makes killing Anubis much easier.

Sweet sales this week.  I've been wanting to pick up Crash Team Racing and the Spyro games for a while.. I've come very close to buying them recently.  I'm glad I waited.

Yup, lame sales this week IMO. $10 for Prototype digital is too much for me, would have bit at $5 though since I need to rebuy it. Most the rest of those full game sales are just laughable, but expected since Xbox Live had an equally bad Activision sale last week.

I may end up grabbing the Tony Hawk revert pack but I need to do more research on it.

I think you and others convinced me to pass on Prototype. With next-gen around the corner I'm sure most retailers will clear out older games for super cheap. I'll wait to see if I can get a disc copy for $5 or less since I won't play it anytime soon. The game isn't anywhere high on my list of priorities. I'll have to debate on the Crash games too because they'll most likely sit in my backlog and I've been trying to cut down on it. Nostalgia is a bitch.
