This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

FWIW NeoGAF people claim that what little bit FO3 did use GFWL it's gone now based on recent updates to the steamdb.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=745237

Also, a recent message by Gamefly on GFWL games seems to imply that the simple key activation servers will remain up and that it's only the multiplayer servers that are going down.

Please note that from July 1st 2014 the multiplayer functionality and any 'online' saved games associated to Microsoft Live accounts for 'Universe at War' will no longer be accessible. From July 1st 2014 users will still be able to create an 'offline' user account and associate new saves to this account.
At very least creating an offline profile should still work so you should still be able to do solo play for most GFWL games. *fingers crossed*

AW was cheaper in Remedy's AW HB, IIRC.

Et tu toaster?

FO3 never required GFWL... you could always completely ignore the GFWL bit.

(Well, maybe not on always on the steam version) http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1482975-fallout-4-speculation-suggestions-and-ideas-186/page-4#entry23245387
No, I'm a cylon. ;)

But, yes - I do know there are ways to avoid and get around G4WL - but, I'd honestly like it officially removed entirely by Bethesda.

About FO3, I have...

from Retail FO3 Collector's Ed (w/ the cool lunchbox + Bobble-head and all);

and also FO3: GOTY on Steam (bought that dirt-cheap for ALL DLC's; plus that can be booted currently w/out Steam running by running EXE from game-folder - just like some other G4WL games on Steam such as RF:G + GTA4 & EFLC).

EDIT:

Great!

Now how about removing the fuck ing Securom and GameSpy from Borderlands 1, you jackasses? Oh wait, that would involve doing more than just copying and pasting stuff.
Amen.

I'd be happy if they removed Securom + GameSpy; then implemented Steamworks 100%.

EDIT 2:

I realize there was no *gasp* yellow font but I thought that was supposed to be sarcasm. Was it not?

That game has been bundled and on sale about nearly as much as Magicka. There's people left who don't have it that actually want it at this point?
No sarcasm at all.

Straight-up serious.

Hence why there's no wink after what I said; nor was there the yellow font in Comic Sans.

Don't know if he knew - but AW had a HB once.

Thought I'd throw it out there, so one knows it's been cheaper and been bundled.

Should I preorder Dark Souls 2 (PC) on amazon for a $5 game credit bonus or wait for a preorder discount on steam?
Depends - is Dark Souls 2 PC pre-order 50-75% off yet...? ;)

Seriously, I often think it's a good idea to pre-order games these days - given how many DLC's; Season Passes; Re-Releases Editions later w/ every piece of content coming (base game + ALL DLC's + ALL Expansions); how competitive the digital market for is, and how often games brick down in price so fast (especially in the digital market); and how often console games get "basic" and/or "poor" PC ports.

I normally try to read reviews + game forums on a game, once it's out - especially if it's on something I have a major interest in.

I know it ain't easy to fight the feeling, when the game you want to pre-order is a game series or game company you love, though. RPG's - especially Bethesda games and CD Projekt games - seem to get pre-orders or Day 1/Week 1/weak discount buys from me.

EDIT:

Somebody mentioned Windows 8? MUST BASH IT.
Nimi Places and StartMenu8 saved me a little bit on Windows 8.

Thankfully, Win 8 in on my non-gaming laptop.

I have Win 7 for my main PC gaming desktop rig.

Now, if M$ ever put options back in to disable Aero crap in the Compatibility Mode tab (you know - Disable Desktop Themes + Disable Desktop Composition options that are found in earlier Windows such as Win 7), I'd be happier w/ Win 8. :D

So if I own both Witcher 1 and 2 physical disc, is there any reason to buy them on Steam since they are crazy cheap?

Super Duper Special Steam Edition where Geralt gets to ride a T-rex or something?

No clue - don't own them there on Steam.

I'd guess the typical Steam reasons are why people have 'em on Steam: so you have the game on Steam (to put your all your eggs in one Steam basket); game time-tracking built w/in Steam; Steam auto-updates; Steam Achievements (if the game supports it); and any other Steam-related stuff like that.

Don't know if there's any other reasons - any Steam-version owners got other reasons why to buy W1+W2 on Steam?

BTW - Did you activate those Retail keys W1+W2 keys on GOG?

Pretty much the usual having it attached to your Steam account, cloud save, achievements and for the main one for me was that patching the non-Steam version (and there have been multiple huge patches since that disc was pressed) was a huge pain in the ass and never worked right for me for the non-Steam version.

After dealing with their Polish patching system multiple times and downloading like 12GB only to have it not patch properly and hose the damned game install while I'm at it I said Shaqfu this and got the Steam version. Haven't had any issues with patching since.

Yeah, I tried Witcher's DRM-FREE patching system... ugh. Steam version is painless.

On that topic, I also like how Path of Exile patches though Steam. (non-steam version has MMO-style patcher)

I'm liking Win 8 alot.

Thanks for this, I remember downloading some extra quest or DLC or something for the Witcher 2 which I dont remember seeing and I was never able to get the Enhanced Edition of Witcher 1 to download properly so maybe it is worth it for Steam to just do it for me.

hey guys, Black Knight 2000 is available for Pinball Arcade. the only reason to buy this table is for the music of Black Knight 2000.

Is that even an issue with Windows 8? All that seemed to do was disable the aero glass, which 8 doesn't have in the first place.

If you want to run old-as-heck games on newer versions of Windows (think Win Vista + Win 7) such as Sacred 1 + 2 - it surely can help to turn off to go to Compatibility Mode to....

Disable Desktop Comp (Aero stuff) +

Disable Desktop Themes (Aero stuff) +

Run As Admin (just a general thing you should do w/ older games) +

pick an OS the game actually worked on (just general stuff worth doing).

Otherwise, expect issues.

To get either of those two games to even bloody boot-up and to get the in-game vids to play properly on Win 7 64-bit, I had to go through the above stuff.

Granted, I ain't even tried Sacred 1 + 2 on my Win 8 non-gaming laptop.

So Bandai is apparently having a buy one 50% off, buy two get both 75% off sale (note both need to be put in the cart to show the 75% off)

If you add Pac-Man and the All You Can Eat DLC addon it comes to $4.50 for both which is a better deal than the recent Steam sale had it for.

Also they have Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures or Naruto for $10 if you buy it with something else.

Looks like everything is a Steam key.

And if you put three things in your basket...

Runs just fine in Win 7 and Mac OS X 10.7.x (Lion) on Snow Leopard it works fine expect no puck sounds.

I played it for 10-15 minutes yesterday with no issue on win 8. Sounds like a video card driver issue.

Happy Valentine's Day from GameAgent! We're giving away free copies of Mad Moxxi and the Wedding Day Massacre all weekend to GameAgent members.

I've played it for aaaaaaages, almost 10% of the time Waggles has, and have had no problems on Windows 8.

I haven't played for any length of time, but both Sacred games seem to run fine on my W7 desktop doing nothing to them. Maybe they got patched?
