New Thread:

This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

I feel kind of bad now that I got my Borderlands 2 DLC key within 25 minutes the first day and just have it in my email until I finally pick up the game.  =\

A few days ago I was sitting here quietly judging someone who said they were going to play a single episode of Walking Dead as one of their 4 in Feb. Now I'm considering playing Minerva's Den DLC as one of mine!

Oh no, single episodes don't count. I finished all 5 episodes of Sam & Max Season 2, and counted it as 1 game.

Well where do you stand on something like Minerva's Den? A five hour self-contained story DLC. It's basically no different than something like Far Cry Blood Dragon, except it requires owning the base game. I think I could get away with counting it as a game, even tho it's not technically one.

Well, here are my thoughts on the matter:

1. I don't count single episodes, I count all episodes as 1 game.

2. But some games are probably shorter than one episode from Telltale.

3. I would count standalone DLC like Blood Dragon or the Alan Wake one, but I wouldn't count DLC requiring the base game.

4. But some DLC (as you pointed out) probably last longer than some games or stand-alone DLC.

5. And ultimately the goal of 4 in Feb is to play and enjoy our games, so I wouldn't get too caught up on what does or doesn't count or what somebody else might count on their list.

Edit:

And also, will devs never learn? You put your product out there and if you don't want negative press THEN MAKE A GOOD GAME!

Some of these whiny devs are annoying me to the point I wouldn't activate their key from a bundle.

I would say that if you'd previously finished BioSharks 2 and the later addition of Minerva's Den prompted you to revisit the game in order to return it to completed status, then you should count it as another game knocked off of the backlog.

Unless it's The Wolf Among Us. From episode 1 to 5, the entirety of Sam n Max Season 2 was released in the time it took TellTale to crank out the second episode of TWAU. Here I think one could argue for a little leeway. ;)

So, Titanfall is kinda like Transformers.

I was just discussing Turbo Teen and other half-remembered 80's SatAM cartoons with friends a couple of weeks ago. Mere hot and cold triggers his transformation. This guy had it worse than the entire cast of Ranma 1/2 and Tara from the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes cartoon.

I'm getting ready to finish my fourth ARPG in February. Though, I started in November. Does that count?
Personally I think yes, or at least I'm counting any game beaten/finished in this month as one of my games, regardless of if I'd started it prior (which I had for two of mine, Giana Sisters and Castle of Illusion).

There really aren't any official rules outside of the ones you impose upon yourself, so whatever you think should count, counts.

I would say that if you'd previously finished BioSharks 2 and the later addition of Minerva's Den prompted you to revisit the game in order to return it to completed status, then you should count it as another game knocked off of the backlog.
Bioshock 2 was already one of his games beaten this month, so I don't think it would count by your logic.

So on today's stream at 6pm GMT (1hr30 from this post), I'll be giving away:

  • Probably Archery
  • Reaper - Tale of a Pale Swordsman
  • Victory: The Age or Racing
The link will be http://twitch.tv/carlmundo

I realise that Metal Slug 3 won the poll here, but unfortunately I couldn't get clearance to stream it tonight so hopefully 3 out of the top 4 is alright :)

I finished Bioshock 2 as my 2nd game of Feb, after completing Bioshock 1. My third game is AC Liberation and I'm not that crazy about it so I've kinda been longing to get back to Bio even tho I was in Bioshock overload just recently having played 1+2 back to back.

I don't think it really matters how much of a game you've played in Feb before finishing it. The point is to clear out our backlogs and a finished game is a finished game. One less in the pile.

Huh, I guess I'm going in the wrong direction then. I just finished downloading all my Steam games. Next up, all my bundle/GOG/DRM Free stuff. I mean, I need to have a reason to get a new HDD, right?
Good luck remembering where you got all that crap from and downloading it all. Remember most bundles have had DRM free junk among their various bundles.

:speaktothehand:

Already have my folder structure in place and Access has every purchase I've made already documented (including multiple DRM option breakdown and whether it is downloaded/installed/activated/etc.).

Welp, Max Payne 1 it is, then. Didn't expect that to win.
I was too lazy to vote, but there is a good chance I would have picked Max Payne, too. I played it soon after it came out and immediately started a second play through as soon as the credits finished rolling from the first.

I've got everything split-up.

I have back-up files/installers on my 2 other external HDD's, all separated out by where I bought them or by what client-program is required. I used to put games-files like these - on DVD's or CD's, if they can fit on them; but I've gotten lazy and been doing more of the file-storing on my external HDD's.

For game-installs, those go on one of my 3 main internal HDD's. I do NOT install everything into their default folders, normally - except Steam-required games or there's some other foolish reason. I normally install them into a folder split-up by where I bought them or from what client is required. The only other exception is unless it's necessary for some foolish reason just to get the game to run (i.e. see how Wiz 8 like to be in C:\Wiz8 just to freaking boot) - even then, I'll also take that "forced folder location" + create a shortcut-folder link to where I would've put the game if I had my choice, anyways.

Sorry, I don't do "what game should I play next" voting if it doesn't contain Bad Rats, or at least write in option... *shrug*
I almost want to play bad rats just so whenever i put my next game up to a vote people can't vote for it

word. i'm about 2/3 the way through part 1...it's good so far. I was surprised how well the graphics have held up.

Ha, wow. The most I do is keep track of my backed up Steam games with an Excel file and keep the backups in a DVD binder. I have a couple of 200 GB external drives where I keep some stuff too, but my crappy bandwidth issues keep me from grabbing everything that I want to back up.

I have most of my games from non-Steam places that have been downloaded, backed-up on my HDD's or discs (CD or DVD), etc. Those numbers DO NOT compare to the amount of Steam-versions of games that I have.

It's my plethora of Steam-versions of files that I just can't keep up with! I have tons of those Steam-versions, never-ever downloaded or anything.

The hard part is getting an organized structure in place and backfilling the old data.  Once you have a solid foundation, just like any SOP, it's fairly easy to keep up.

It's cheaper to grab Grid 2 + the all DLC pack than the "Complete" pack.
Am I missing something here?

The ALL-In DLC pack only has 10 $DLC's listed.

The entire list of DLC's = 11 $DLC's + one Free DLC (12 in total).

EDIT:

Ah, I see - there's a Car Unlock $DLC Pack that don't come w/ the All-In DLC Pack or Reloaded Edition.

That's good. :D

True. I should really get to downloading all my music from Loudr / Groupees. I don't think Humble will spontaneously go out of business or something so those are safe.

It's also cheaper to have gotten Grid 2 for free off facebook ;)
Oh, you mean that giveaway that was inexplicably region locked for me? fuck ing Codies.
