This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Wow that Xbox Originals name misled me too. I got excited for a second.

I'm curious how much of an improvement the ME trilogy would be on the XB1. I might be a big enough fan to purchase it on sale. Same with the TellTale games.

Anyone else excited for Child of Light? Most reviews are in the 80 range. I think I'll bite even though it's Ubisoft who pumps out sales. I want to support the game with its female protagonist in an RPG with awesome graphics.

If Dust is the first GWG I continue my streak of owning the games. I have no hope left.

If nothing else, ME trilogy will let people double-dip on achievements to boost their gamerscore...

Opinions .........that said, I shall weigh in on the Star Wars talk with my own two cents.

The books are great. Heck, Episode III is a masterpiece. And I really like Michael Crichton and Dean Koontz books. That said, George Lucas did a HORRIBLE job translating those to the big screen. All the magic was completely lost. Minor Epsiode II book spoilers *SPOILER* Epsiode II started with the whole backstory of Shmi Skywalker getting captured by the Tusken Raiders so Cliegg Lars and like 30+ farmers took off to get her back. They were all slaughtered in an awesome way as they were decapitated by a wire line as they flew by on their speeder bikes. Cliegg managed to see the line and jumped off his bike, but his leg got severed * END SPOILERS. Sorry, not familiar with how to create spoliers :whistle2:

Dust is a great GwG freebie if proven true. I am bracing for repeat DotW items from the past with a deeper discount 75%+

I'm hoping with ME and TellTale games that they'd be able to fix graphical issues. I bought ME1 from a recent sale, but I'm still afraid to play it because the first time I rented disc of it, 360 broke. Only game that broke my 360 that I played again was Far Cry Instincts Predator.

I'd be more interested in Child of Light if it had real co-op (and it was more than local). Still looks interesting and the reviews look promising, but definitely waiting for a sale if it doesn't get a retail release.

May tonight's deals force us to plunder our cash and lay waste to our left over points in pursuit of a heftier backlog....this I doth pray.

Well, since May the Fourth is coming, maybe we'll get a Star Wars deal or maybe free Force Unleashed? Id love that. Never got to finish the first game or play the second.

I want the force unleashed DLC on sale. $10 per level Is wayyy too much.
And the sequels to the movies. They could have easily done 2 more trilogies with the expanded universe. First trilogy being Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and Last Command, second being Spectre of the Past, Vision of the Future, and Survivors quest. Then even after that, they could have made an entire trilogy based on KOTOR. They are just shooting themselves in the foot.

For whatever reason the prints of Force Unleashed my brother and I bought both had disc issues.

...Still waiting for a refund from Microsoft for our Halo Reach discs way back when. They never even sent our replacement ones!

I Actually liked DJ Hero 2 alot, long as you got the turntables and such for it though, but the soundtrack was well done and for the most part it did away with alot of the gripes I had with the first.

That blows. Had no idea those had issues.

Well I had quite a good time with Darwinia+

The optic might be...deterring...but the gameplay and story were quite fun!

(Also Worms 2 and Fable III are worth giving them a shot before you sell the console)

@tyler DJ Hero 2 is lots of fun. I recently reinstalled the disc on my HDD so I could play it again. It's one of my favorite game soundtracks. I'm a huge fan and recommend giving it a shot.

Also, I'm a huge board and card game fan so I recommend Catan, but playing against the AI will probably be boring.

Otherwise, your list is filled with a lot of mediocre games that you can probably skip or play on PC if the need arose.

The beta discs? They sent out digital download codes to everybody because some of the discs weren't working. I probably still have mine somewhere.

I predict a Skullgirls sale

I'm not sure if it was a printing problem or if our discs were ruined through shipping or what. We each beat it at Toys R' Us back when it came out and for whatever reason it won't load up one of the levels. I ended up just borrowing my buddy's copy and beating that one.

TFU2 on the other hand had no problems, other than the game itself being average.

I'm predicting a f*cking sh*tty sale, full of games and DLC we all, already own....just a guess.

Any news on the next GWG? I haven't been online in a while.

Maybe it's a painful remainder of your situation but you could try the omani WRC powerslide and Mars war log. Powerslide is surprisingly enjoyable although the real fun comes with multiplayer. Mars is a sci-fi adventure, a 'melee rpg' fits better. Good story, good mechanics and pretty long campaign. I'd definitely give it a try. I also liked Pid, one of the toughest puzzle platformers out there if you choose hardcore difficulty, but maybe it's not your type of game right now: you look like in a speed run to put an end on last gen :p

Edit: And thanks for trying to redirect the thread to a game discussion, anyway:

To celebrate the unearthing of the ET cartridges (among others), I predict a 75% sale on all Atari 2600 games in the Game Room.

I am ready for the backlashing from fans, but SW VI is a half-disaster compared to the previous 2 episodes (not going to make comparisons with 1-3, it would be unfair for many reasons). The lenghty rescue part may be historical, memorable and quite funny, but it's also lacking plain logic, sense, and drags on for too long (did they forget they have jedi powers and shit?). It's an hour or so where you are just wondering, why are they complicating things so much? It's like cartoons where the main characters find the most complicated ways to pull off the simplest tasks. It is a fun part but no logic at all.

Also, those twists? The Darth Vader twist was not foreshadowed originally, Lucas pretty much admitted they pulled out that twist out of their asses, hence the no hints to this in the previous movies (if we don't count retcons). Same for the brother-sister story with Skywalker and Leia: again, that is something they admitted was just done out of nowhere, and it is rather obvious, since they almost went for the love story between them in Ep4 (swiftly forgotten by the twist in Ep6, where they don't even go EWW for the fact they actually considered a shag or two).

Nostalgia can make Ep6 great, but it's a movie that lacks logic. Plain and simple. Hate me all you want but you all know this deep down :p

And now, back to the deals: I almost hope there won't be any amazing deal this time around, as I'm waiting for Peggle 2 to drop on X360 at this point.

I got about half way through Pid a while ago, it is quite difficult and I kind of just got frustrated and stop playing. I just started up WRC for about 5 minutes and didn't really like the feel of it. I am kind of burnt out on race car games having played Joy Ride Turbo and Motocross Madness recently. And you're right, I'm kind of in a rushed mode. I may check out Mars War Logs.

As for the other suggestions, I think I will still give Darwinia+ a shot and see how much I like it. DJ Hero 2 I may play as well, but I just got through all of the original DJ Hero just a couple months ago. I enjoyed the game quite a bit, just not sure I need any more of it right now. Fable 3 will probably be a pass because I've beat both Fable and Fable 2 within the last month and had enough, I really didn't have that good of a time with Fable 2, though I loved the original. Catan I'll try, I usually don't mind playing the computer AI as long as I can find a decent difficulty that's not too tough or too easy. Worms...I'm not sure why I bought those.

Oh god, what have I started?

Can we just go ahead and make episodes 1-3 non-canon while we're at it? Please?
But how will they introduce Jar Jar' hip great great grandson, the interstellar rapper, Jim Jam Binkz?

Can I please have faith that Abrams will save Star Wars? Please?
I don't know why anyone is trusting someone who worked on Star Trek to work on Star Wars. You fools, he's trying to destroy the enemy from within! :whee:

Patton Oswalt said it best about the Star Wars prequels...
Wow, I've seen that stand-up special so many times that I pretty much had it down word for word. What's worse, a nerd or someone who's a nerd for a nerd?

Backlog's down to the last 25 or so games, and a lot of them are kind of blah. Any games on this list you guys think I really should play before selling my 360?

Bangai-O HD
Catan
Darwinia+
MOON DIVER
The UnderGarden
WRC Powerslide
DefJam Rapstar
Crazy Machine Elements
Duke Nukem 3D
Fire Pro Wrestling
Flashback
Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime
Happy Tree Friends
Mars War Logs
Panzer General
Pid
Sonic & Knuckles
South Park: Tenorman
Unbound Saga
Worms
Worms 2
Devil May Cry 4
DJ Hero 2
Fable III
Bangai-O HD, Catan, Moon Diver, The Undergarden, WRC Powerslide, Mars: War Logs, Pid, Sonic & Knuckles, Unbound Saga, Worms 2, Devil May Cry 4, DJ Hero 2, and Fable 3 are all worth trying.

The rest aren't that good or are found dirt cheap for PC.

Pretty much yeah. I have somewhat rose tinted glasses on when watching Ep. 6(logicical stuff) and for that matter other movies that I remember fondly from the 70's/80's (no movie inserted so as not to start another off topic discussion). Heck, you can extend that to certain games that are "remembered fondly" but when you actually play them today, I think, "man, this game has not aged well. Or, I remember it being sooo much more fun when I was a teenager fifteen years ago."

Star Wars, as many old movies, is remembered fondly because of the age, but with today's eyes things aren't that amazing. Ep4 and Ep5 are really good movies even by today's standards as far as I'm concerned, but Ep6 is the weakest link of the entire saga as far as I'm concerned (well, besides Ep1, but that's a trainwreck of epic proportions). They pretty much needed to make the new trilogy just to make a sense of the apparently pointless twists and turns of Ep6, that for 20-25 years or so made no sense at all. It did introduce many memorable scenes and characters, but it's an exercise of bad ideas really. I think the massive disappointment of Ep1 made people forget that Ep6 already lost the ball quite a bit, and made them also overlook the fact that Ep2 and Ep3 are pretty solid (specifically, Ep2 is okay and Ep3 is pretty good). It's never a good thing when you need a new trilogy of retcons and explanations to make sense of one movie, but that is what happened, and we forget that because the new trilogy disappointed many. But hey, it's J.J.Abrams for the next trilogy, I have a reasonable amount of faith in him. They also just made nearly all novels, comics and games non-canon, so we'll see where this goes.

Is 2k14 worth spending $30 on?
Really? I have 2k13 right now and I played it a lot until the online was recently cut. So even though the price isn't great, the deal was still somewhat tempting to me. Also because I have a pretty good amount of MS cash on my account.

Any ideas on this week's deal (besides this Star Wars speculation)?

If you're a basketball fan, like me, and you're going to play the game a lot, it is definitely worth $30 in my opinion.

That's why I've been considering it. I played 2k13 a lot, and I am a basketball fan, but I've heard that it's overall very similar to 13.

They cut 2K13's online already?

Had no idea. My mistake. Must have been within the last month or so.

If that's the case, and you play a lot, then yeah $20 - $30 is okay, especially if you're sitting on a bunch of credit. I'd wait until next week's deals post tonight though, before making a purchase.

Yeah, pretty bad of 2K if you ask me, not even EA cuts games this early.

But if I waited, wouldn't the deals be posted too late for me to buy this weeks deal?

This next weeks deals should start showing up soon. You will be able to check them out tonight and make your decision before the 2k14 sale ends.

Yeah, 2K seems to cut the servers kinda quick for the sports games, thought they might have learned with the last backlash, guess not. :p

It's not like 2K13's online wasn't still active or anything. But that's what they do, they cut the servers after they get all the sales they can, so they can get the stragglers before the next instalment. Disgusting.

But yeah, I didn't think there were enough changes between 13 and 14 to warrant spending more than $20, but who knows how long it'll take to hit $20 now..

Oh, nice. Thanks, I thought the upcoming sale would immediately replace the current one.
That used to be how it worked, but as of the past couple of months they changed it for whatever reason. The new deals should post in about an hour or so, so just hang around until then.

It's not a DotW item, it's a game that's on sale until it's delisted at the end of the month.

and wait, what are you talking about "they forgot they had Jedi powers and shit"? Only Luke had any Jedi powers, and he was still just a learner. Its not like he had complete mastery over the Force at that point. Are you sure you've even seen Episode 6 or are you just a shitquel I MEAN prequel apologist in disguise?
