The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games. There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

The first game in the trilogy wasn't on sale during Golden Week, so there'd have been no reason to jump in at that point IMO. Though hopefully it'll join the lineup this upcoming year.

Pretty sure rorona plus wasn't even out yet when the sale happened.

I think I might pick up Neptunia at that price with a b-day or $10 off coupon. Escha & Logy is tempting, but I want to first get confirmation on whether we're getting the Plus version on Vita, and whether it'll be digital-only (I predict it will be ).

Me too.. LOL. I bought the 2nd and 3rd game during that sale they had and have been waiting for the first game to go on sale so I can play them. I have the 3 on PS3 and haven't even touched them cause the Plus versions are out. What the hell are we doing..

Same here. I got all 3 Arland games and I only played Totori. I really just want Rorona plus on Vita. I'm waiting for a decent sale.

Does anyone know if SE still selling their collectors editions through digital river? The store front for the kingdom hearts collectors edition looks diffferent.

You have to select Square Enix Online Store when you go to order it. I am guessing that you still have to use Digital River. I did hear that Digital River was sold not to recently, hopefully this has an impact on shipping. Other than that the shipping costs is only ~7-8.

I really want to get this but I vowed never to order anything off SQ Enix store as long as they use Digital River ever again. As I was burned on Drakenguard 3 CE and FFX/X-2 CE and I ordered them the day they opened up orders for them.

I mentioned it to my G/F though that I would like to have this game so many she can come through and get it for my B-Day/Christmas.

Edit: I would like to say that the website does look up to date and not from 1999.

The extras include all the content from 1.5HD. If you don't already have that, it's gone for $20 new at the lowest. Saying you're paying $60 extra on top of the normal 2.5HD price is a bit of an assumption to make.

Missed 1.5 being included still not worth it IMHO. The 2.5 collection will crash to $30 and $20 eventually for a regular copy. S-E just never gets my money anymore.

Is the localization for Atelier Escha & Logy really that bad? I remember people complaining about Koei-Tecmo's handling of it.

While I was there, I noticed that they had slapped a $19.99 Neptunia PP price tag on the Rebirth1 case. I built up the courage to give it a shot. Took the case to the cashier. I was so nervous they'd catch on. He took a copy of Neptunia PP out of the drawer. I said "Oh, is that the right game?" and showed him the case I gave him. He said sorry and popped in the Rebirth1 cartridge in the case. I'm sure he was thinking "all this weeb shit looks the same". I walked out with Neptunia Rebirth1 for $20. Yay gamestop employee incompetence! It's gamestop "new" so no shrink wrap, but still cheaper than anywhere else so I guess I lucked out. I don't even have a vita so I don't know what to do with it. Just couldn't pass up the chance to take advantage of a price mistake. Thinking whether I should hold onto it for the eventual vita purchase or give it to a cag for the price I paid + shipping.

This is how it all starts. A price mistake at Gamestop, then next you can't even get your kick unless GG or Steam has a glitch during a sale. The addiction never ends....I hope you like what you started! Otherwise Neptunia is cool and the remake was needed!

nah it likely will.... it will just be a limited release at the nintendo world store, thus if you want a copy you will either have to fly to new york and wait in line for days or pay like a thousand dollars for it.

Agreed I like Clannad and all but first of all it's old, and second of all that's a lot for a digital release. It should be $30-35. I will likely support it nonetheless but yeah....I don't know how many will.

Really glad I waited out to hear for a CE for KH2.5. I imported 2.5 last month so don't mind double dipping. It's similar to the JP CE where they included both 1.5 and 2.5, but the only difference is that they switched out the OST for a plushie. Much rather have the soundtrack than the plushie. The remastered music is just an eargasm and they finally fixed the "He's a Pirate" music loop. Just put an order about 5 minutes ago. It's always a hussle with SquareEnix's "limited quantity" items. Sometimes they do run out and sometimes they just have too many that aren't "limited" and then put it on sale.

It's about time. There will be a physical copy version for $45 for early birds and $50 otherwise if it reaches a certain funding level, but I don't know how likely that is.

$40 for a digital copy isn't too bad and I would pay FAR MORE than $50 for a physical copy so I'm in no matter what, but I do hope that we can get a digital copy without Steam or DRM if it can't reach the limit needed for the physical copies.

Is PP even that good of a game? I remember the reviews say it was pretty bad for an idol game because of the limited song/dance selection.

Some good news for anime fans: the Crunchyroll app for Vita was updated to include what looks like the entire catalog. You can watch anything now for free (supported by short ads, like 10 seconds) including Japanese and Korean dramas which previously required a separate or all-in-one membership to view. You don't even need an account anymore.

The PS3 app hasn't been updated and I don't know about PS4 since I don't have one.
