Humble Bundle Thread

*sees the two Coffin Dodgers keys he got through giveaways*

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Are you sad because those two keys are now worthless or because you ended up with two copies of one of the shittiest kart racers recently released?

That kart racer has overwhelming positive reviews. Quite a bit better reviews than Hello Kitty was and that thing went down hard here. Has anyone played the racer that can give their opinion? I will go $1 dollar tier minimum this week.

Yes, I've played it and it finished the singleplayer + played around in the MP with a few CAGs. It sucks, don't bother with it.

Well first of all, graphics looks like it came out in the early 2000s. Which by itself isn't a deal breaker, but the animations are half-assed, the driving is shit, the boosts/weapons are all bland and uninspired (and not even fun to use). The "story mode" is pretty short and pointless because of how easy it is, there's a "free roam" mode but I have no idea why you'd want to play that, seeing as how the driving sucks and you're just putting along on empty roads with no objective. So I guess all that's left is the co-op, I only played locally with my girlfriend and we both agreed that it was pretty bad. But don't take my word for it, anyone wanting to experience the train wreck for themselves can frel free to do so.

Are we talking about old people racing Hello Kitty racing or horsey racing here?

Or do they all suck and we should just go play Sonic?

The Weekly Bundle is apparently a robot friendly bundle. Robots feel free to purchase as there's no "I'm not a robot" box to tick.
Unless you're a gay robot, because then it's NO BUNDLE FOR YOU!

I feel like I'm speaking a foreign language to Humble's Support on the issue w/ Deadly Premonition DRM-FREE version.

They finally got back to me.

I told them the file size on Deadly Premonition for DRM-FREE is 700 MB or so; Steam-version's 6 GB or so.

I told them they need to re-upload the DRM-FREE version in full b/c it's missing 5GB or so worth of files.

Specifically, the UPDATA folder needs to be updated with all of the file's it's missing on DRM-FREE version!

Their response: the game doesn't work on Win 8 + 10; and to go check the system requirements.

Ummm - I'm on Win 7; and that really doesn't solve the game not booting b/c it's lacking 5GB worth of files it needs to run!!!

BOTH REASONS.

I can't even trade them anymore, I'll be accused of trying to trade away bundle copies. >:|

As opposed to being accused of trading away games you got for free?
Hey, I didn't ask for these. :p

I got one some time ago in an Alienware giveaway (like the one that ended a bit ago) and thought "I'll just wait until the game stops being in early access before using it." Then I wandered into an Alienware twitch stream and got another one.

And then the devs turned out to be kinda jerks. They've ignored many of the perfectly valid complaints people have about the game and... I didn't think it was worth using the key anymore.

Eh. :(

So yeah, don't accuse. There's no need to.

I ADMIT IT. I SHOT J.R.! I'M KEISER SOZE. AND I'D HAVE GOTTEN AWAY WITH IT IF IT WASN'T FOR THOSE MEDDLIN' KIDS AT HUMBLE!

Oh, that's right, you were going to Bobbytastic it and flip that shit for a profit.

I actually wanted to get a Steam version of that Splinter Cell game I want but the guy didn't go for it. :p

Not so much of a profit since the SC game is priced lower than Coffin Dodgers...

I'll probably give these away somewhere now. Curse you, Humble! I can't even scam people right.

Anyone know the download size of RB6 Siege? Thanks! If it isn't gigantic I buy another $1 tier for my friend to play Beta. Seems kind of silly just for that and unfortunately we already have SCCT but oh well but only a dollar.

So is Shadowrun Returns worth it for like $1.94?
It's been cheaper at $1.49 on Steam before:

IMHO - SR Returns is great. If you like old-school RPG's w/ turn-based combat; and especially lots of text, story, character development, and whatnot - you'll dig it.

Keep in mind, I have not played SR: Dragonfall, which many have said is much better. I have Dragonfall, but it's sitting in my backlog.

EDIT:

My long-winded SR Returns review is here:

Cool, I will wait for .99 cents then. Thanks.

I bought Grim Fandango Remastered, Hack 'n' Slash, and Spacebase DF-9. Activated Grim Fandango Remastered, then Hack 'n' Slash, and then somehow was gifted Spacebase DF-9 on steam? So looks like I got another game to giveaway someday, as I haven't redeemed my steam code on the Humble Bundle website.

I wouldn't mind Spacebase DF-9, if just to checkout the Double Fine controversy.

I would like to give it to my seventh great-grandfather-twice-removed-on-my-1/2-nieces-barbers-side....

I highly recommend that you copy and paste the Shadowrun Return campaign and play it as a module of Dragonfall.

the revamped UI, better AI with re-balanced item/skill will make it a definitive experience!!!

So, Humble marked the Deadly Premonition DRM-FREE issue as solved - even though they really didn't solve it!

They said their version on their end works fine.

And they'll check w/ the dev' team for updates.

They don't need updates/patched! They just need to upload the other 5GB of files that's missing, which was likely by accident!

Proving yet again that only you and that one other dude actually gives a shit about Deadly Premonition DRM Free.
Problem is - some people who bought it to only go DRM-FREE and don't use Steam (for whatever their reason is) - they're screwed.

Well, it is easy enough to get going, if you download both versions. Just do a replacement job of some kind. Can go either way, if you know what you're doing.

Get DRM-FREE Version going:

Download DRM-FREE version and unzip into its own folder; download Steam-version; toss Steam-version's UPDATA folder into the DRM-FREE version's UPDATA folder (replacement job). Problem solved.

Steam version mixed with DRM-FREE EXE (easiest method):

Download both DRM-FREE and Steam versions. Throw DRM-FREE version into its own folder. Rename Steam-version's DP.EXE to keep as a back-up in case things go wrong (i.e. rename to DP_SteamCEG.exe). Take DRM-FREE version's EXE and toss it into Steam-version's folder. No CEG anymore. Problem solved.

Who are these people MysterD? Hell, you didn't even notice it until that one guy brought it up and then you decided to make it a personal crusade even though you owned it on Humble for a long time and were none the wise because you apparently never even tried to install the DRM free version until now.

Poseur.

I downloaded DRM-FREE version, but I didn't look at it. He brought it to my attention. I decided for all my DRM-FREE fans, I'd see if I could get Humble to re-upload the files. What's the big deal? By buying Rising Star Bundle, you are entitled to both a Steam + DRM-FREE copy - you know, copies that are at least in full here.

Of course, if this was a Steam-version where people had 5GB of missing files and couldn't get the game going b/c of that - everybody on CAG be pissed and want their Steam-version fixed ASAP.

Haven't been here in awhile but I just dug up some leftover codes I had from the Namco Bandai HB. Have a code for Platformines, Ace Combat AH, Star Trek, and Beware Planet Earth

If you like Michael Giacchino's music for Star Trek, get the game just for the music. No, really...if you're a fan of the new reboot movies or movie soundtracks in general you owe it to yourself to hear the soundtrack without the game ruining its experience. Just don't pay more than you'd pay for a complete soundtrack.

I'd be interested in Ace Combat.

Since Ace Combat is taken I would be interested in Star Trek

May I have Beware Planet Earth?

Edit: Thank you very much.

I've gotten in on a couple of these Humble Store build-a-bundles, so I thought I'd take a look at Double Fine. The three I'm primarily missing are Broken Age, Grim Fandango, and Massive Chalice. Initially, these looked pretty good as they have overall positive ratings.

However, Broken Age and Massive Chalice have some pretty heavily negative reviews (both user and critic) if you dig into it a bit. Now these two games suddenly aren't looking as good as they did at first and it makes the deal a lot less attractive. I'm thinking that waiting it out for a bundle might be the way to go.

Does anyone have any strong positive experience with either Broken Age or Massive Chalice?

Thanks for the effort MysterD. I really appreciate it.

I just went the steam route in the end.

I would say Broken Age is s'alright but not 4+ million dollars and 3 years s'alright.

At some point along the way I feel like it became less about the game and more about the mo'money mo'money metagame. In some ways they're a victim of their own hype since if some other lesser known indie had done that game it probably would have been better received.

It starts off kind of cutesy and charming and all that but the act two feels like 'Oh shit we really need to finish this thing at some point huh'? and sort of falls flat.

It's not the worst game you could buy but I definitely feel like there are better adventure games out there. Also Double Fine are not shy about slashing prices and bundling, again mo'money mo'money, so this certainly won't be your last chance.
