Destiny (PS3/PS4) Official Thread

Will anyone be around tonight that wants to do two crucible games? I just need two to finish my weekly bounties on my Titan. You can shoot me in the face, shotgun me, do whatever if you need something for a quest. I just have to complete two games.

Do you need the win 2 games in a row (5 points) or the 1500 in a win bounty done? Because jimmy reminded me yesterday that rumble counts as a win for bounties if you come in top 3. I was having problems with getting 2 wins in a row but won a zone control game, and then went into rumble and finished 2nd but got the bounty done.

Nope, I just need complete five games in a fireteam. Did three earlier but I need two more.

And yeah for that featured matches bounty I just wait until the daily is rumble and do it on all three characters. Rumble makes 7 wins easy too. The win with 1500 doesn't work in rumble I don't think. I've gotten second with 2000ish points and it doesn't give me credit. But playing classic free for all is pretty damn easy to rack up top place finishes.
 
Mars, Jimmy, and I got to 6 wins with the mercy boon intact. Then we lost to massive flankers that we couldnt handle. Then the next match i lost connection and was booted from the game.  :wall:  Still ended up getting seven wins for the scout rifle, i got one with hidden hand. It was just an annoying way to get screwed out of our lighthouse run. I think we are making improvements.

It occurred to me that by this time last year, we already had a bunch of leaked info on The Dark Below. I wonder if we'll get anything in December or what.

Yup, I think we need to learn to be more aggressive too, we sometimes got rushed and didn't fight back, but rather got cornered heavily or didn't follow through with the kill of guys that were so close to being downed since we were a little too apart. But we haven't played ToO in a loooong time too so its just getting used to it again. I thought overall it went well

Oh I got a Monte Carlo from the Silver package and the machine gun from the gold one.

If you guys ever want to rush in on snipers or hold off against shotgun rushers try using chaperone. Used it for the first time yesterday after three invis shotgunners kept rushing me with snipe. They went up 3-0. Switched to chaperone, got a relentless, phantom, and came back to win 5 straight rounds. I felt disgusting using it but I have to admit that was the most fun I've had in destiny for awhile. I was just rushing every camping sniper I saw last night and it felt so good.

Two fucking ghost shells from the nightfalls that were 305 or less. fuck.

I did manage to get an exotic helmet engram which turned into a skyburners annex, so that's cool. My first helmet over 300 so I'll definitely take it.
 
Oh and in case people don't realize, this nightfall has two bosses you can use 3oC on and they're spread apart enough that you could potentially get an engram drop from each. Use one at the start of the strike, when you kill the big taken dude halfway through, use another one right after and go kill valus.
 
Ahhhh... fresh week, fresh disappointment.

Is this the week I hit 315??? Will my alts break 310??? Indifferent minds don't care to know.

Man, hope my NF-level rewards are better this week than last. Could really use a purple Auto rifle, just to progress my Fabian quest. That and Chaperone are the only weapons I'm missing.

They're too busy counting the money we threw at the screen ;) .

Personally, I'm fine with no news, for now. There's too much crap to do right now (and not is a good way) just to get back to end-game levels. Hell, most people on my friends list are still working on their 2nd toon and haven't even touched their 3rd. Don't want to hear how my current grind will be irrelevant in a month or two.

 
2 full hard raid clears and one daughters clear and not much to show for it. I gained a few light by infusing armor on my hunter with drops from my warlock, but I didn't get a single drop that was actually higher than what I had equipped on the character it dropped on. I got like 5 310 hard drops.
 
I did my first nightfall last night. Normal engrams after beating boss but then we all got legendary items for the rewards. I got a 309 chest armor. Is that how the night falls work? If so, seems like a good way to get higher light stuff to infuse. If not, I don't see the point since engrams drops at end were pretty much useless like normal strike drops.
 
The engrams are just the normal strike drops. Use a 3 of coins for an exotic engram chance...the after game screen drops can be sad but also you do get some infusion material sometimes. Strange coins and 3 of coins are the best rewards at this point for most of us.

I was off work yesterday and attempted the hard raid twice, once to daughters before people left for pizza and stuff, then started a new one and we only had a little time and only got to gorgyporgy before everyone had to deal with dinner. Poor timing I guess. My hunter is up to the magical special unicorn level of 310 though so it was worth it even if I did not get a completion on either character.

 
Idk, the groups were kind of just whoever was online and then people had other stuff going on. I generally cant play too much during the week usually after 9pm central if at all on week nights. I was off work tuesday because I was out late monday and wanted to play destiny all day. Mission accomplished lol...Between the raids we did random shit like pvp boosting and legit crushing of our enemies in rift.

Best chance would be to bring it up in the group psn chat and see if you get bites...Most people are doing two characters or more at this point so you can probably get in another group easily with the clan.

 
Haha thats always funny when you slam and then go into orbit...I did the jumping part of the daughters on hard while we were trying to find another person (never happened), but it seemed fine. I thought maybe there were less platforms but maybe that's just oryx or people are just imagining things.

I am so glad you started laughing when that happened. I was already dead, so I was watching you the whole time. Holy shit, you couldn't have arc-ed a better jump if you tried. It was a beautiful, straight, NFL record field goal with Tukai's poor character as the ball.

 
Beat orix last night and the only good thing I got was a 320 shotgun and I didn't received any loot (just shards) from both warpriest and golgoroth... The only good thing is that the whole thing took around 90 minutes even having a 299 member with us

I almost have it down I think after all thouse deaths. When that one happened, I felt like I saw myself in 3rd person floating off into space. I looked down and back at you all and you all looked so tiny from where I was.

 
I got my first 320 item last night, Hunter gloves. Also got my warlock the hard raid bond, which bumped him up an extra 13 defense. Also got a 313 warlock chest, and 318 titan gloves. So it wasnt a bad week for getting stuff that improved my characters.

Only thing i want to do for the rest of the week now is kill Oryx (and hopefully get a hard raid helmet) and do trials over the weekend. Otherwise there isnt much else left to do. I think my nightfalls i got strange coins, 3 of coins, and a legendary shotgun that i dismantled.

The way the game is now, it doesnt make sense to have more than one weapon of the same kind. If im going to bother infusing something like my Malice, Sleeper, etc. Then there is no reason to infuse a second one up. I even swap out my 1000 yard stare between characters, and just infused one of my Conspiracy Theory-Ds to 314. I just wish i had a better way to swap out weapons with my characters. Currently i use the PS4 browser and do it through the bungie site. Its convenient but a bit slow on loading the site up. I cant use the bungie site on my regular PC because its so old, i dont even have the right upgrades to browsers. I also dont have any smartphone/tablet that can use the apps. Oh wells. But my point is that its different that year 1 where every character had a gjallarhorn, vex, vision of confluence, etc because the damage was always the same.

 
I stopped keeping multiple things once all these awesome apps came out that made it so easy to transfer. Destiny Item Manager is an awesome chrome extension that you should be able to run on any PC. Just download Chrome, and then search for DIM on their web app store. The Bungie site is probably the worst content management platform out there and that's pretty sad to me. 

I personally love the Ishtar app for iPad. It's so clean and makes transferring so easy.

I received a 320 Harrowed sniper, 315 Harrowed shotgun, 310 Harrowed hand cannon, 310 Harrowed auto rifle, 320 Warlock bond, 320 Warlock boots, 310 Harrowed Hunter Hemet, 311 Hunter chest, and the 320 ghost. I can't get any decent armor drops for the Hunter. It was a pretty good week anyway. 

Both of my characters have 313 gloves and 310 helmets. My Warlock has a few different 312 chests and my Hunter has a 314 chest. I'll need help with those items and a primary over 312 to improve their light levels. My Warlock is 4 light points away from 316 and my Hunter is 3 points from 315.

It's funny that all that Oryx hard has dropped for me are always lower light stuff that I have already gotten from previos parts...

Whoa! That is seriously awesome and very easy to use. I mainly use the Destiny iPhone app to manage and swap stuff which is okay. I've been looking for something with better management and this works well since my PC is nearby. Thanks for the information.

 
Sorry guys, I told one of my pals I'd do a normal raid with him at 6 and his girlfriend had never done it before so she wanted to join. We JUST finished...almost 4 hours later.

 
RNGeesus just delivered the Warlock trifecta. I turned in three helmet engrams (Two legendary and an exotic) and was rewarded with three 310 exotics (The Stag, Light Beyond Nemesis, & Obsidian Mind). I hope the generosity continues.  :drool:

 
Oh yeah well I beat oryx on hard this morning and got...304 gloves. And that's it. I swear I read something in patch notes about him having guaranteed drops in hard mode.

I wish the raid sniper had a bit more impact to it, I would definetly infuse it to my Eirene, or my 1000Y.

So jealous of this. Spent almost 2 hours last night trying to down him, and people kept making stupid mistakes. We were all 310 or higher killing ogres. At one point we almost had him with 5, and 2 people died right before he opened his chest on the final bomb phase. I honestly think this is the most technical raid they have done, and I both love and hate it for that reason.

 
Off topic but need help please:

I may be switching from U-verse to TWC cable soon for my internet. Instead of using their router and paying a monthly fee, I am considering buying my own. Could people who know routers please give some advice on which one to buy?

We have a 1 story house and 5 people who play a lot of online games at the same time and/or are streaming movies on netflix constantly. What would be the recommended one to buy that won't cost too much?

 
Well I don't know how specific your situation is, but I'll obviously tell you to get an AC router for best performance -- but as to which one, that depends on what "too much" is for you. I recommend looking between CISCO or Netgear routers, since it's all I've worked with before -- maybe TP-Link, but I can't tell you if it's good or not.

That was a great run for us, there have been nights where we spend hours on oryx and never beat him.

Maybe because I can't jump to save my life, I just find the Daughters fight a lot harder than Oryx. I think the Oryx fight is actually pretty easy compared to it and never feel like there is a moment of panic. Albeit I am not carrying the relic but being on the platform, killing the opposite ogre, knight, pop him the chest, kill adds and then detonate doesn't seem chaotic to me.

Yeah that went pretty smoothly. It was weird since that one kill got me 316 harrowed machine gun, 312 harrowed assault rifle, 310 Smite pulse rifle, 306 shotgun, shards, and I think a pair of boots ... not complaining but all those drops were just from that one Oryx kill :drool:

 
Daughters isn't bad at all because you have time to clean up the adds.  In Oryx (i'm typically floater or runner) there can be times where the adds will just jack your day all to hell.

 
I heard there is time after you stagger to clear adds before detonation making things less chaotic...but have not done oryx on hard yet.
