Heads up: The Terminator Genisys steelbook is currently $19.99 at target.com with a free $5 gift card and free shipping.

http://www.target.com/p/terminator-genisys-steelbook-blu-ray-dvd-target-exclusive/-/A-21537057#prodSlot=medium_1_1&term=terminator+genisys

The only down side is it is from target.com and they are known to fuck up things like this.
I did it when they had Paddington up for pre-order, as they had a lenticular cover for it. The eGC showed up before the movie did since it was backordered. It did show up a couple days past release, however.

So you only get the $5 GC when you pre-order?
Correct. Only for the pre-order, not at time of purchase online, nor at all in-store.

Did San Andreas Steelbook pre order have the 5 dollar gc as well during the promo?
Nope.

Not sure, but I think that's how it worked in the past.
That's right, it was only a pre-order.

I am wondering if I should just blind buy the DC Bond Steelbooks because of the possibility that Specter could be steelbook as well?

I went back to Target to return and rebuy my GOT SBs and ran into a couple of issues. First was that it had to be a separate return with a separate purchase, some BS about it being on a RedCard. The main issue is that the register wouldn't take off the full $10 on the purchase like it should say in the ad. The CS rep rang out one SB and one Funco POP figure and it knocked the figure down to free, though wouldn't take the $1.01 off of the SB. I assumed it would do a proportional discount on the two items or behave as I expected, though no such luck. It also didn't take anything off the 2nd SB + POP pair, as if it was only a single transaction was allowed for the discount. To fix it, the CS rep took $10 off of one SB and added in a Target store coupon for $1.01, which covered the rest of the $10. When I checked the receipt in the cart, the correct pair of SB + POP did show that it was a package, with the $32.xx return value on the SB and $7.xx return value on the POP.

So, if you want to do two of them, make sure you check before checking out to make sure you have all $10 discounted and not just the $8.99 for the "free" POP.

They are going to have to get a little bit cheaper for me.
Agreed. They're not amazing art and we've seen BB SBs get down in the $7-8 range before.

So I guess not many people ended up splurging for the full set of nine Bond steelbooks at $9.99 apiece?
I liked them, but with the amount of Bond versions released they have had over the years, unless these were $5 I wouldn't bother. Between the multiple "Ultimate Deluxe Definitely Definitive Complete-Until-the-Next-Bond-Flick" collections on Blu and DVD, the various individual releases, and whatnot, they are as bad as GoT and every other property with a big fan base and companies that want to milk them ad infinitum.

Maybe if Best Buy brought back that DVD trade in and save $5 on any blu $9.99 and up deal, I'd get em then.

EDIT: I know it didn't give me the full $10 off as it should have but rather the $8.99 (plus any tax on that which would have applied), however as I was going to return both of the Funko Pop figs anyway I'll acquiesce on the $2.02 I lost out on. I just returned the two Funko Pop figs and received $7.34 (plus tax, less 5% Target discount) each refund on them, worked out to $15.26 refund all said and done. So, just under $65 plus tax less 5% redcard discount for both of the GoT steelbooks is not too bad. Perhaps the $10 off is one of those "up to maximum of $10 discount" type deals, for Targets that may have varying/higher prices on those Pop figs say $9.99 each.

Still tempted to try for the Black Sails SB S1 and SB S2 combo purchase to save additional $10 and try to get the additional $10 giftcard matched as shown online, but will probably just pass. If anyone gives it a try, let us know if they allow it.

I may run by Target tomorrow and see if they'll "match" the deal online, plus do the usual Cartwheel stacking trick so that I'm buying other stuff at the same time and they won't notice the Cartwheel coupon because it won't show up in the 3-4 items it lists in the app when showing the barcode.

I liked only a few of the Bond steelbooks, which I already bought. Not a huge Bond fan to begin with, and I already bought Bond 50 for cheapish.

So anyone want my Black Sails S2 steelbook? I'm 99% sure I'll return it this weekend if not.

I thought the art and the collectability aspect of the Bond steelbooks was pretty cool.  Just that it's that time of year,  buying steelbooks for nine movies you already own, etc etc.  But I do want them!

Man oh man do I miss the Best Buy $5 DVD trade in thing.  Best Buy rocks.  I traded in nearly my whole collection of dvds and bought a bunch of blu ray upgrades.

So I thought I would be able to resist buying GoT S.1 & S.2 SB versions, but I just got a good look at them at Best Buy over lunch.  DAMN.

Typically, buying new steelbook versions of movies I already own like GoT is a no-brainer.  I sell my old blu ray copies on amazon or ebay for pennies on the dollar.   But in this instance I have absolutely no inclination to sell my S1-4 exclusive house sigil slipcovers.  So I'm at a bit of an impasse of what to do.

All this double-dipping for steelbooks is really starting to cost a lot.

I am in the same boat as you (only missing the Season 1 BBY exclusive Stark blu slipcover because I stupidly didn't buy both it and the Targaryen version, have all the rest), but I just wanted these since I passed on that Season 1 Collector's Edition with the dragon egg and whatnot, as well as I think there was some other special edition version with season 1 and 2, or 1-3, or something with the books I don't know.

BTW I just tried to get the giftcard pricematch for Black Sails S1 and S2 steelbooks and they wouldn't do it; oh well no worries. But I asked how much without the giftcard pricematch and both also rang up without the additional $10 discount that was supposed to come off automatically I thought. It was $29.99 for one of the steelbooks and $24.99 for the other, with the cartwheel 10% off it dropped to $49.50 for both. I thought it was supposed to end up being 10% off $45 = $40.50 for both.

Who do you think will have the best deal on the star wars steelbook when buying all 6 and also do you think they will have movie money on them too

Seeing as how this is the first time (I think?) any of these movies have been on Blu-ray in a SB case, I can imagine that no retailer would have a better deal than any other retailer. For that same reason, I don't foresee movie money being offered with them.

Dude, you didn't miss out on anything with the dragon egg edition.  I bought that thing a few holidays ago and it was simply a dragon egg + boring black iron throne S1 inside a box.   It was a waste of money.  I returned it opened to Best Buy, they didn't care.

Hahahaahaaaaa, that's good to know. Wasn't there some sort of other recent special edition, maybe with a Drogon figure or something?

Nope, that was the only one. I though it was nice, as the dragon egg makes for a nice paperweight. Was the same as the regular version, so I ended up selling the previous one I had (which was the "Bush head" edition that had a head on a spike in S1E10 look like George W Bush, later changed) for enough to cover the other one.

Did you guys also got a $5 promotional discount when you order the Terminator Genisys steelbook? I just got a shipping notification and somehow I got a $5 promotional discount applied to my order, unless that is the $5 gift card and they automatically applied to my order.

Free Promotional Web Gift Card $5 with purchase

I know that you get a $5 gift card with the purchase of the Terminator steelbook but what I am asking is if anybody else here got an additional $5 promotional discount added to their order. My total price with tax is $16.26 for the steelbook thanks to the $5 promotional discount that was added to my order after it was shipped.

There's no gift card it's a web promotion gift card that automatically applied to your order

Target handles it weirdly. If a $100 item came with a $20 gift card, the receipt will have $80 for the item, and a $20 gift card.

They do similar with B2G1 deals, etc.

Makes returning part of a package too easily abusable, but they haven't changed it, so they must not really care.

It's much easier for them to discount the item cost and full price the gift card than pay out a free gift card for the promo value. Also fixes anyone from trying to return the item for a free gift card.

And it does work better in some ways for B2G1 and in other ways, worse.

I like the way Target does it because they will only charge tax on the amount before the gift card. So in your example they will tax you on $80 instead of $100.

Got one of star wars steelbooks today. I'm so torn on whether to keep it because as I understand they are identical to original release but don't have the special feature discs so I'm essentially having to keep both at this point.I'm hoping to find I'm wrong but at this point I'll likely just return them all. Such a shame because the backs are so pretty and the fronts are so meh.

Do they come with DMR for the them

Received my $3.13 refund on Pixels, done via email. Thank you for pointing it out, starmask.

Which one did you get?

I haven't picked up any of them and wasn't likely to do so, since I have the 6-movie original collection with the special features.

If they came with the digital copy, I'd think about it, though since it doesn't appear that they do, it's an irritating double-dip.

It's Revenge of the Sith. I have the six movie set too so this is just looking pointless. Again, if the steelbooks themselves were just amazing I'd really consider it. but I'm largely not motivated to keep them since the fronts are pretty lame. It's hard to turn down a Star Wars steelbook though...

Looks like the 5$ promotional discount wasn't gift card it was a promotional discount price cut because the regular price was 24.99 and the price went down to 19.99 and when you pre-ordered it you get a 5$ gift card
