Yeah, we're scheduled to close two hours early today, so it's kind of a waste that I took today off. That and I've already had to do a little work, of course. But at least I'm in my PJs playing games instead of sitting in my office.Mine does too, so many that I keep having to burn days to stay under the cap. However, I assume we will get told to go home in a couple hours. Definitely not going to waste a day for what will likely be a free half day anyway.
If I had not gotten married and had kids, Id probably be able to in 10 years too. The math says I am on track for 15, but I am unfortunately thinking it will be longer.Yeah, we're scheduled to close two hours early today, so it's kind of a waste that I took today off. I made the mistake this weekend of telling some friends that I'm considering retiring in 10 years. They asked the question everyone always asks: "What would you do all day?" My answer was the same as always: "Whatever theI want!"
Damn your school shuts down a lot. Don't you shut down for Spring Break too?So am I, but my university's president decided to start our Thanksgiving break a day early, so I'm home.
I don't know what this means(I think I am actually working right now despite the egregious quotation marks. right now I'm trying to find a vendor that'll overnight 4x qsfp->sfp adapters for a nexus 9k so I can get the fiber hooked up on this array and data migrated to it and tested so I can screw off for the rest of the year - does that sound like working?)
Don't worry, Jimbo and I are probably the only 2 who do.I don't know what this means
it looks exactly the damn same! The sequel everyone has been waiting for.

Finally something I will buy on the PSN store. Of course I will wait for it to be in a flash sale for $1.50 or so like the last one.The sequel everyone has been waiting for.
You have to know what all your assets are, what your expected rate of return on those investments are, what age you want to retire, how long you expect to live, what your expected income from your retirement assets are, etc...How do you calculate when you're on pace to retire?
I was supposed to be off this week but used up my days earlier this year. Otherwise I would be home playing a video game. Instead I am listening to thrash metal and trying to stay awake. My real job gives me vacation days, so I'm home playing video games.
Getting out at 4. Most people work till 6. I am usually out at 5 so whatever. I will probably wait a bit for all the lunatics to leave the parking lot.Mine does too, so many that I keep having to burn days to stay under the cap. However, I assume we will get told to go home in a couple hours. Definitely not going to waste a day for what will likely be a free half day anyway.
Yeah, I use a crazy spreadsheet that tracks all my spending and assets. Then you have to make some assumptions. Tyler, I can send you the spreadsheet if you're interested. I got it off an early retirement site. You have to know what all your assets are, what your expected rate of return on those investments are, what age you want to retire, how long you expect to live, what your expected income from your retirement assets are, etc...
TL;DR: You do a lot of math
The students are off that whole week, but employees only get the Friday off.Damn your school shuts down a lot. Don't you shut down for Spring Break too?
To be honest I had to Google it. I had a pretty good idea and was right. This stuff is much larger gear then I get to work on.Don't worry, Jimbo and I are probably the only 2 who do.
Nah after 60 or so no one will want you (or most of us).Gator and Simmias. I will be working til I die.
So I am dead at 60. Thanks Jimbo!Nah after 60 or so no one will want you (or most of us).
I know dick about planning for retirement. I have a 401k that I've been dumping in to for like 14 years and that's about it for me.Gator and Simmias. I will be working til I die.
I had to look up what the Nexus 9k was. Too many different model names for Cisco stuff and I only know the ones we have in the lab (7609). Working in a fiber company, I can't go 5 minutes without hearing about some form of sfp.To be honest I had to Google it. I had a pretty good idea and was right. This stuff is much larger gear then I get to work on.
Probably the area of IT I should have gone into. Find it more interesting then most of what I am doing now.
You are likely WAY ahead of most if that is the case.I know dick about planning for retirement. I have a 401k that I've been dumping in to for like 14 years and that's about it for me.
Maybe not dead but no one will want to hire you though. Push you out and pay some young punk 1/3 what they pay you.So I am dead at 60. Thanks Jimbo!
Honestly that's one of my big motivations to retire early. Age discrimination is pretty real.Nah after 60 or so no one will want you (or most of us).
Wish there was more in mine. Probably need to start dumping more in mine (larger percentage) in the next couple years. You are likely WAY ahead of most if that is the case.
Like Gator said your ahead of a lot of schmucks. I am probably one of them as I only put in the company match of 5% since I got married 10 years ago. I am going to try and up it to 10% this year and then maybe the max 20% in a few years. But then I thinkI know dick about planning for retirement. I have a 401k that I've been dumping in to for like 14 years and that's about it for me.
I don't really deal much with the networking anyways. I have a flash array to stand up for some database/vdi stuff and that's more in line with what I do. My boss just told me that the array would connect with 10g copper instead of fiber and when it arrived with fiber ports there wasn't much that I could get the installer to do.I had to look up what the Nexus 9k was. Too many different model names for Cisco stuff and I only know the ones we have in the lab (7609). Working in a fiber company, I can't go 5 minutes without hearing about some form of sfp.
Yup. A good friend of mine with 20+ (maybe 30?) in IT. Mad certs got laid off about 6 years ago and bounced around a bit. Mostly I believe due to his age. I tried to get him in here once but didn't work out. Supposedly my manager at the time didn't think it would be good having a friend of mine in the same department.Honestly that's one of my big motivations to retire early. Age discrimination is pretty real.
I have been at 8% for years. Got married and bought a house. Wanted to creep that up to 15% by now but well haven't moved it up in years. I guess I haven't lowered it either though.Like Gator said your ahead of a lot of schmucks. I am probably one of them as I only put in the company match of 5% since I got married 10 years ago. Started out when I got my first job at max of 15%. Kept that going I think the entire time I was at my last job. For a while at this one I was at the max as well. Then the company got bought, no more match and the funds were shit. I put that money into a different investment vehicle. Once the 401k match started back up due to another buyout I started back up and am doing 10% now. It is all into a Roth 401k now though. I was used to not getting the tax break on that money and just stuck with it since I prefer Roth accounts anyway.I have been at 8% for years. Got married and bought a house. Wanted to creep that up to 15% by now but well haven't moved it up in years. I guess I haven't lowered it either though.
Puppy pics soon. Gotta run to work for a couple hours, so I'll upload when I get there. I've been using new puppy excuses to get out of work all week lmao. Thanksgiving is actually a good time to have gotten him for me, the feds never (really) work over the holidays so it's easy to just "work" from home.30 year old Tyler demands puppy pics Sage!
Plus the girlfriend was pretty hot.

I will stare at box for a few hours
It sucks saving lives!I am also working a full day today but i do have Friday off at least. Since I work for a hospital that is open tomorrow though we have to use vacation time for both days![]()
Still kicking myself for not buying that when it was on sale. The expansion for Dying Light will be larger in scale than originally planned, so the season pass's price is being raised to $30 on 12/8: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/price-increase-for-dying-light-expansion-and-dlc-p/1100-6432603/?utm_source=gamefaqs&utm_medium=partner&utm_content=news_module&utm_campaign=homepage
Finally someone else that gets it. Even if the Vita games are ports of the 3DS, the games are more fun due to the way it is all broken up.I'm digging the short levels of Lego Batman 3 on the Vita. So much less of a grind than on the consoles.
Dr. Bob Kelso? What has two thumbs and picked up Javorius Allen in the CAG B League?

The only real problem is math doesn't account for life. I mean shit happens and as much as you plan it doesn't always work out. I just go with Pharm on this one and if I get to retire earlier than that's awesomeGator and Simmias. I will be working til I die.
