Nintendo Switch Preorder Thread 2.0

I really wonder what some people will do after the Switch releases and they no longer have this thread as an outlet.

I hope you find peace.

I'm not swaying anyone from preordering, but pointing out real issues, and what the cause may be. The "truth" often hurts, but for people to make an informed buying decision, they need as much of it as possible.

You stating a patch is coming day one is irresponsible, and very much NOT TRUE. It may happen, it may not. But your stating rumor as FACT.

What happens when someone buys this, has a problem, and then says where is the patch that was coming day one? What are you going to say then to someone? Oh, sorry about that, my bad! Any and everything I mentioned here are elsewhere is based on my opinion and the evidence as I personally know it to be. Nothing more, nothing less.

No one "allows" me to do anything. My first post which the guy above had issues with, was similar to the one I posted yesterday in regards to what may be causing the issues with the Joy-Cons, so potential buyers can look at their own situation and make an informed purchasing decision.

My post always bring the butt hurt to so many, but why would someone buying an NS, give 2 rats asses what someone on CAG thinks? If you want it, buy it. Are you guys that low of "will power", where I can Jedi Mind Trick you to not get the NS?

You guys have problems when you see "N" failing at something, and you can't stand to see it discussed and pointed out. It's a real issue, and a real problem. Do consumers buying an NS not deserve to know it has an issue that may affect them?
I think people that are interested in the Switch deserve to not have the thread clogged with Nintendo bitching and moaning posts from people that aren't interested in the Switch.

YOu even admit that no one buying a Switch cares what you think so you can't possibly be helping them.

Why are you here again?

He is here to complain. Why do the mods not take action? This has been going on for weeks now. Whine about something they have no interest in. If this was a Sony thread I'd be banned.

Sorry if this has been answered already, but does the charging grip include a usb-c cable? The product listing doesn't say so, but all the unboxing videos are showing that it includes a cable. Thanks

Does anyone know if Gamestop will have extra consoles on launch day? Also, anyone know if they will be open on midnight for launch?

It seems like you answered yourself.

Call your gamestop to find out.

This is my store. 110 total. With like 50 extra for walk ins

Hmm called my local gamestop and the guy on the phone said they probably wouldn't have any extras. Odd since best buy stores are getting extras.

Gamestop could be hording them in their warehouse stores for the stupid online bundles.
Very true^ Once they realize stock is plentiful, they'll distribute to stores, but if any stores are saying no extras, I would imagine this is the reason why. But many GS locations have already said they will have extra's for walk ins, they just don't know how many.

Is anybody concerned about the left joycon failures being reported by reviewers? Nintendo only says they're aware of the problems no word on a solution.
I'm concerned, but still waiting on word from Nintendo. If they say it's a patch-able issue I'll keep my pre-order. If not I won't get it at launch, no matter how excited I am to get it.

Exactly. People allow him to keep posting here because he's polite but if wasn't then most would consider what he's been posting as trolling. It's a hype thread, if you want genuine discussion, visit NeoGaf or something
Why can't we have genuine discussion here?

And like HelloooNurse said, where in the title does it say this is a hype thread?

Is it just me, or is beginning to look like Nintendo is over-stocking the launch of the Switch, as opposed to under-stocking? If some of these stock numbers are to be believed, every store is going to have at least 30-40 un-claimed Switchs ready for launch day. Given the fact that this system is an unknown, and has only been promoted for a few months, that seems like a lot of stock. It seems quite likely to me that anyone who wants a Switch on launch day will be able to walk into just about any big-box retailer and get one. I don't think a lot of casual consumers are going to be lining up for this thing.

I'm hoping the stock on the Zelda amiibos is similar. I didn't manage to pre-order those, so they're the only thing I will be hunting for on March 3rd.

Also, if anyone here was hoping to flip some Switchs (hah, pun!) on lunch day you might want to re-think that. If the supply is plentiful, the after-market for these things isn't going to be profitable.

Ive been told every GS in my region will have stock available for walk ins.

My store is low volume but getting 2 gray 2 neon for walkins. There are also more gamestops than Best buys to distribute too.
Interesting, thanks guys.

I could get $160 at gamestop for my X1 plus another $150 for my games. That's why I am wanting to buy from gamestop. I could wait a week or two to pick up a console but i'm taking a trip on the 4th and wanted to snag one before.

If I do a trade in at one store could I pick up the console at a different store? I mean, for in store credit do they just give you a gift card or something?

Edit: Just called another store and he said they would have at least 4 extra but was pretty sure some people were already planning on camping out the day before. F

They can certainly put it on a gift card, however, there is some caveats to doing so.

In some states if you do a trade with a purchase, it will negate the tax. Also, if you were planning to get any promotional bonus credit, it would have to be towards the purchase of the item. (Which you can promptly take it off, or return for credit again.)

Is it a problem to overstock? Plenty of CAG here rightfully complain about Nintendo under stocking all the time.

It's Nintendo. They could stock the exact amount for everyone who wants one, and one of our resident business experts would still have an in-depth analysis on why that was a bad decision and they're failing as a company.

Unfortunately not. Working right now and for me to look up stock and preorders I have to stop what I'm doing and look at reports

If you ever get time to check any more, looking for switch stock at #1185. Much appreciated!

I get what Nintendo is doing. They are providing ample supply for the Superbowl adverts. They are trying to get free media coverage by having people stand in line outside of the store and with most reports saying that they were able to walk-in and purchase one. Would make Nintendo look like a hero.

edit: removed the word 'my', because obviously Nintendo doesn't know or care who I am, lol.

Based on what "N" has said up to this point(which may or may not be true), Inventory was going to be plentiful and anyone who wanted the NS would be able to get it.

This pretty much mirrors the Wii U launch, as many places sold out before hand, and by release, it was everywhere, and all of the flippers returned systems to stores, as there was no money to be made, so that added to the stock as well.

Of course, we all know the thinking around here, and if something is in stock, it must not be worth having. "N" knows if people want this system, and can't get it, there really isn't a lot of reasons to keep hanging around. They will go elsewhere. The best reason to get the NS, is also on the Wii U, so it would be very silly to not have inventory for those who don't have a problem paying the current asking price, as that crowd isn't going to be around past launch.

Now here's another important question I've never seen discussed.  Does the Switch have a standby mode when used as a handheld?

So it's going to play Zelda for ~3 hours on one battery charge right.  You know the way we all use our 3DS and Vitas.   Few minutes here while sitting on the john, 15 minutes over here on the couch until you have to get up,  10 minutes here during a bus ride, etc.  Are we going to be able to have a standby mode, as in pause the battery drainage, like when you close your 3DS?

Gamestop gets like 1 or 2 extras and you have to be really nice and blow them for selling something to you 'New'.

It has a lock screen. . . Would have to assume it has some kind of power passive mode.

Thanks to FerrariRacer's post in the Zelda thread about the Edge review score giving 10/10, that's singularly and easily the biggest piece of uplifting hype  I've heard in regards to the Switch yet.

I want to buy one now.

Apparently it's great.

Casual consumers don't even know about the Switch yet. They'll want to buy one when they see their friends and family playing the new Zelda or Mariokart. 90% of my friends saw the commercial once, or have heard of it in name only. They haven't even considered wanting one until they see someone they know playing one.

It's a good thing that there will be plenty of these available for everyone to buy one on launch. That's great for consumers. It's been the longest standing gripe against Nintendo, that they underestimate demand levels and create shortages all the time.

Wonder with so many extras if I need to even bother going to the midnight launch and can just pick it up after work Friday. I'd rather not risk it though.

With only 50 extra, I don't think you can get it the next day. A lot of people that did not preorder will show up at midnight , so if you want to wait for Friday, at least go there first thing in the morning

While I'm a little sad there are no street pass type features built into the switch, this more than makes up for it. So tired of my 3ds draining after 2 days in sleep from a full charge.
So true. I don't even use sleep mode on my 3DS anymore because it's so bad. While the Vita isn't perfect, it's sleep mode is one of it's best features. So I'm happy to see the NS is up to the task.

While I had family members got to midnight launches.
What should I generally expect from one?

Long lines? I'm just planning to bring my 3DS and receipts maybe get there 10 or 5 minutes before it opens.

If this was a holiday release, I would say your correct. But if a store has 50 over and above their preorder numbers, he should be fine.

Do you have plans to get a pro controller, or are you mainly going to be playing in handheld mode? The signal issue has only been reported to be happening when the joy cons are removed from the console. Are these ideal solutions? Not for all, but why would you let an avoidable problem kill your enjoyment? (unless you can't, controllers are expensive) Unless it is about the principle of the thing, which we won't know for sure until the launch patches come out or Nintendo gives a statement.

And yes the controller connection thing sounds like it can be pretty crappy, but I will wait until they get a chance to fix it. The fact that it never came up in the touring events has me the most confused.

Yeah, I'll probably just go to the midnight release about an hour before midnight. I can't try in the morning because I have to be at work before they open. I could always use one of my personal days though. Lol

Let's all not forget the Switch consoles and Zelda Master/Special Editions Amazon will inevitably sell exclusively on Prime Now, because apparently that's just a thing now.

Good to see that there Will be extras to go around for people that could pre-order. Funny thing is my girl apparently saw a commercial for the NS and asked me when I got home. "What's up with that new controller for the Wii" she thought it was a new gamepad for the Wii U. Lol!
