Actually I use my Xbone controllers on the PC all the time. Not sure if the Wildcat one is different in some way, but basically Win10 supports wireless bluetooth for them. Otherwise they work just fine if plugged in via any old micro USB cable. Maybe the Wildcat doesn't have a USB port.

There were some really well written quests like the murder investigation where your ability to solve it was based on a lot of small things like whether or not you had read a certain book or researched some insect species, etc. Witcher 2 I stopped playing after the first boss which was a QTE derp fest. I also don't think the mass reagent/crafting style of loot fits that game well.

If the kayran is as far as you got in The Witcher 2, then you definitely missed a good game. The kayran is a pain in the ass, though. The archgriffin you start off TW3 with is much easier.

Yeah, the W1 combat was different - but eh, it's nowhere even close to what W2+W3 are doing. The combat system in those are tons better.

I think what I liked about W1 was you often wouldn't see your decisions' results for numerous hours later - so you could get stuck having to either stick w/ your decision + result or take the hike to go way back on a save if you didn't like your results. Plus, it didn't really make your choices predictable for decision + results - i.e. doing good stuff results in good results or doing bad resulted in bad stuff happening, like in many other games (i.e. older BioWare games). There were often shades of gray here. Sometimes, getting the best type of result w/ the least casualties or problems was either by doing nothing or doing something evil.

Yeah, I'm going to continue to push my very unpopular opinion that the combat in the first game was the best. Sure there were more things to do in subsequent games, but once you got the hang of the combat in The Witcher, it was really good. The bombs and decoctions just seem like an excuse to throw a lot of enemies at you at once.

Gothic series is truly underrated.

For me, Gothic 1 is the real gem of the series - as it felt fresh, new, different, and atmospheric as can be. Legendary game.

Sure, Gothic 2 is a bigger + badder G1 - but, a lot of the problems I felt were multiplied quite a bit there (combat system felt more clunky + over-dosage of re-used voice-actors). Still, easy enough to highly recommend...since it's still very good.

Gothic 3 was also good - but ran horribly when it came out. Questing didn't feel as intricate or as interesting as often G2+G3 b/c this felt more like the game was made to be huge in size + with less of the decision-making stuff; like say a Morrowind or Skyrim. Quests often felt like your typical MMO-fests (i.e. kill X guys, find X items, etc). While combat felt MUCH better control-wise, you could easily spam attacks + get an enemy stuck and easily kill them no matter their level. It's best to play Enhanced version to balance the combat.

Great series, easy to recommend. Easy to recommend for those who like difficult + challenging games.

Even more so at $3.

EDIT:

I dunno why someone wouldn't play both Gothic Universe + W3. They are both great, in different ways.

I've been playing W3 of late. Yeah, that game's great so far. Some 13 hours or so total invested into it.

Well, coming to the Gothic games years after they came out, they really don't age all that well. Graphics aside, the combat is clunky and ludicrously difficult, and, frankly, the games don't really go out of their way to draw you into their world.

I've been looking forward to this one since I saw the first previews. Early buzz was good and it's at 93% on Rotten Tomatoes with 187 reviews in. Unfortunately, I rarely see movies in the theater and this probably won't be an exception; my wife has to be REALLY excited about something to put up with going to a theater these days.

I thought Man of Steel was pretty good, but I wasn't very comfortable with the ending any more than a lot of other folks were. Batman v. Superman definitely had its moments, but it also had a lot of problems. It was both too long and too short, weirdly (and I've seen both versions a few times); it could have benefited from fewer of Zack Snyder's bizarre foreshadowing/dream sequences and more character development. Also, whose idea was it to cast that ridiculous kid as Lex Luthor?! The guy from the Smallville series would have been infinitely better. I have high (maybe a little too high) hopes for Justice League.

I'm seeing Wonder Woman tonight (so I'll probably miss WWI Battlefield for WWI Wonder Woman).  "Good" sounds good to me.  Honestly, I don't know that I'd call any superhero movies "great" so my bar isn't all that high.

Have you seen The Dark Knight? That probably is the greatest Superhero movie IMO. You're missing out if you haven't.

I saw it.  I thought it was over rated, to be honest.  I don't mean that in some hipster way but I just wasn't overly impressed and some of the plot holes took me completely out of the story -- probably because it tried to play so serious that I was less willing to overlook them in the name of a good time.

"Hey, we finally captured this insane mystery murderer we've been after and have him in custody but let's not bother to, you know, immediately wipe his face clean to help ID him or anything..."

That said, it's not a bad film.  It's just not a great film.  I suppose it's the best of the "serious superhero movies" genre but there's not much competition there.

 
Last night the bros played Drawful 2.  Fun was had by all, except Foxhack who couldn't get the stream to work.  Beam.pro has changed into Mixer.com and I don't know if their streams were affected or it was on my end, but I probably need faster internet.  

Idiotekque was consistently the best drawer and Parallacks consistently won with drawings so simple yet so hard to decipher.  I drew a unicorn trap and Idiotekque commented that he was disturbed by its come hither eyes.  Syntax messed up his usually amazing turtle and Weiler misspelled every word in the English language.  Bah found something new to complain about.  This time it was his mouse making it hard for him to draw because I'm sure he's an amazing artist otherwise.  

Tonight is BF1 and we'll be sans Bah and Syntax so it'll be a quiet night except when we realize we're not being healed and yell for Syntax and realize our calls will never be answered.  I hope that feminazi propaganda is worth it, Syntax.

I haven't seen Wonder Woman yet but I got to assume that The Watchmen would like to have a word with you.

DCU movies... I've only seen Batman vs SupermanL DOJ, and it was the director's cut, but I enjoyed it (as did the wife) and didn't really understand allot of the negativity over it. (They are trying to play catchup and do in a handful of movies what Marvel did in like 5... Also they seem to be aiming for a dark take to not blend in with Marvel.)

The thing I find most interesting is decade or so ago Marvel's movie rights where so spread all across Hollywood that doing interlinking movies wasn't just unlikely but impossible. You couldn't have even wasted a second thought on the concept while over at DC... While Time Warner owned both the rights to all the DCU but also has one of the largest movie studios in the world since 1989 and they really couldn't get shit done interlocking/slash team concept movie.

Just blows my mind...

Xbone Controllers are not out of the box compliant with anything other than Windows 10 but they do work with drivers on Windows 7 and 8... And I mean that wirelessly. I honestly have no idea why that Razer controller wouldn't work on Windows 7, 8 with that driver installed.

I've been trying to remember (and find the time) to post my Windows 10/Windows Store horror stories... Now is a good as a time as any.

I would say the biggest is my controller issues... When I upgraded to Windows 10 I was already using a XBone controller on windows 8. Post OS install I could run all of my games with a controller with no issues but when I went to (finally) play something from the windows store nothing worked. Not even the config programs but I could go back to running around NYC in the Division with no issues. Finally I found out there was a firmware update for the controllers that could only be installed when they where connected via a cord AND I had that MS config program open. An absolute clusterfuck.

2) Sometime later, and for no apparent reason, my controller dropped connection and wouldn't reconnect. To this day I haven't solved it. I spent hours talking to MS about it (to the point they wanted me, and I couldn't really argue against it, to connect the controller to a different Windows 10 machine or an Xbox One), and while I figure reinstalling the OS will solve it I just haven't bothered, instead I just plugged in my old wired 360 controller.

3) Currently, or last time I checked, I'm locked out of Blizzard Mountain (First expansion) for Forza Horizon 3 because I have the second expansion installed. This is a PC only issue. Turn 10 says its Windows Store issue but they are working to resolve it. (Apparently its been resolved.)

That said... Being able to play Forza and Gears 4 (if I ever get back to it) makes it worthwhile to me.... I'm actually really looking forward to Crackdown 3. I rather enjoyed the first two and I think if they merged the mission structure of both into one game (and added some cutscenes with story) that they could really be onto something with the third.

I know the game isn't suppose to be taxing but almost anything can tax an onboard video card... so there could have been some visual lag.

(Not that I'm trying to give Bah an excuse... if he didn't think to blame his broke GPU for his broke artwork than its his own damn fault. :p )

That's what kind of took me out of the Nolan Batman series. It's trying to be hyper-gritty and serious, while still telling a comic book story with comic book characters. You run into situations like you mentioned where you're forced to suspend disbelief or ignore something silly for things to work, but when you've created such a dark, serious world... it winds up feeling a little stupid.

Certainly didn't hate the movies, but they're not really my favorite.

I forgot about Green Lantern.  I liked the parts with the Corps.

But Howard the Duck wins for best villain too because Jeffrey Jones.

The Blade series was pretty good comic book movies too.

You are doing it wrong. If you are micro analyzing a superhero movie to the point that a villians makeup wasnt removed as part of police proceedure you need to find a new genre of movies.

Sadly, that's the sort of thing I actually wanted out of Gotham when the TV series started. A gritty police procedural.

But now, it's just a batshit insane mess of scenery chewing crap that's trying to burn through as much possible source material as possible, because it's easier to slap a half dozen new references to the batman mythos and a couple dozen characters (villains and heroes) into a season that bother to write a throughline that isn't completely stupid.

Superhero movies have to be stupid because the source material is stupid for no reason.  And this from a fan of comic books.  The idea that everything has to exist in one huge universe and things that don't fit can't just be different, but have to be explained by alternate dimensions or other sci-fi gibberish leads to just a big mess of crap for the sake of continuity.  

That's why I much prefer stuff from Image or indies or new characters because they don't try to tie everything in just because.  It rarely works.  

 
If you think that "Hey, let's see who this disguised terrorist-murderer that we've dedicated the entire police force (and one vigilante superhero) to capturing is" is micro-analyzing, you're giving people WAY too much credit.

But, like Fox said, superhero movies as a genre are sort of stupid which is why I think that the Marvel beat 'em ups work much better than the ones that try to be all gritty and meaningful and 2serious4u.  Sure, throw a message in there if you want but once you stray too far from guys in tights throwing cars at one another, you're probably going to stumble hard.

It definitely helps when you're looking at a big screen in a dark room.  I put on some purple mood lighting for Batman Arkham Origins because I still haven't finished it (I'm really close, though) and I could feel it was easier on my eyes.

For $25, though, it's a really cool, atmospheric, easy thing to add to the rig.  When I get some more spare cash, I'll probably do the same to my main TV.

I have them on my living room TV and it marginally helps but in my opinion overrated. I think the ones I got were $15 and I don't regret the purchase but I certainly could have lived without them.

Do you have this exact one? You know I love my LEDs and I'd be all over this if it had a pure blue one so I could trick out my already sweet ultrawide. This one only shows four colors and the blue looks more green.

Yeah, those are just example colors...the blue does go normal blue, not aqua like that one (although that's an option). There is a little wireless remote that lets you cycle through the 15 colors. On the bottom of the remote are white, red, yellow, and blue just as shortcuts, I guess. You press the + and - on it to cycle through the colors and then you can get brighter and darker (to a point). They'll even strobe if you want them to.

Let me know if you want a picture of the blue...I should be able to take one tonight if you want to check it out.

 
I prefer manga over comics nowadays....I kind of binged on comics trying whatever i saw interesting for about a year or so. I did read some aight stuff, some not so good stuff, and a whole lot of in between. Just didn't find the stories that interesting though I enjoyed the Image comics I read and some DC stuff and a lil bit of Marvel as well.

Course some manga isn't for me at all like all the Shounen Manga and training and all that stuff that drags and drags. Oh well an experiment and some money gone, but it was entertaining at least.

The Joker's identity is the the Joker.  wtf are you people talking about "unmasking" some fictional character that would have some random fictional identity. 

Anyways The Dark Knight is supremely overrated, yet still a very good movie.  Christopher Nolan is the best director of this generation of films.  I also second The Watchmen being one of the best constructed super hero films. 

However It still weirds me out how the public by large has adopted nerd culture and how big these superhero shows and movies have become.  I guess it's a byproduct of our generation having grown up and become the money spending public audience.   But there were never this many people into comic books and superheroes.  Just like how The Big Bang Theory makes me sick.  That's not yours; it's ours.    I don't understand how there is so much of this media these days and I have no idea who watches all these superhero TV shows like The Arrow or Gotham. 

I have had two well-respected cinema enthusiast friends tell me how Legion is excellent though.  Need to see that soon.  Probably after this Twin Peaks marathon.

Presumably he didn't (within the conceit of the movie world) spring fully formed as The Joker from his mother's forehead. He, uh, has an identity and birth certificate and probably a Social Security number and high school transcripts and shit from his pre-Joker days. Believe it or not, the government would actually want to know this stuff if you're an anonymous terrorist blowing up buildings and mobilizing a city's entire police force. And even if he didn't have these things because he's some superhero magical force of chaos, the police don't know that and aren't going to say "Welp, I guess he's a primal force of malevolent chaos so let's not bother washing him up for his mug shots..."

once again you are doing it wrong. The jokers "makeup" is essential to the character in that world. the same can not be said of other characters. Stick to Romcoms Syntax

 
Come on man.  The Joker is his sole identity.  He is no longer a human with a white/"Christian" name.  That's kind of the point of the whole movie.  His persona IS his identity.  Consider his finger(prints)tips cut off like John Doe.

Sorry, your magical thinking isn't supported by the movie itself. Hell, he loses part of his face paint in the jail scene where Batman hits him (or slams him or whatever). It comes off. Somewhere out there is a second cousin who would say "Hey, that's Larry... Jeanie's kid!" if he saw him. I know that takes part of the myth away but that's the issue when you're playing it straight.

The thing that further makes no sense is the fact that they do it for OTHER villains. Two-Face was Harvey Dent, a former district attorney, whose face was disfigured. In fact, they do it for I think almost ever other villain except The Joker. Who would be like the easiest probably to just remove his make-up or whatever. I don't mind it, mystery and all, but it makes zero sense.

It literally comes right off. This ain't no Jack Nicholson "chemically induced skin bleaching and forced grin" Joker. This is just some guy with access to face paint and little regard for neat application.

This isn't my only point of "This makes no sense in a movie that wants me to take it seriously" of course and I'm not saying that it's a bad movie. It's just no work of masterful art.
