New to this thread, have peeked in from time to time, really confuised by LRG...

I ordered from the blind box sale they had on New Years and when check on roder all I see is "Ready"

The heck? Attempted to contact CS (twice) and have not heard anything.

Is this typical of them and should I simply cancel the order?

Any help appreciated!
LRG isn't a normal shopping experience where you buy things ready to ship and they go out the next day. They have a shipping cue with a lot of other games in their warehouse and your order will go out after they ship everything ahead of your order. So... maybe March if you are lucky? You might think I'm being snarky, but ... no really, March is probably a fairly realistic expectation.

So sorry you bit on the blind boxes... usually it's just left over fodder that didn't sell and they put in a couple good things to tempt people into the trap.

Appreciate the info! I mean I purchase the mystery keys from fanatical from time to time and it's fun to me. I bit on the New Year's Day sale while paying a board game and not looking into things like I usually do. I am going to attempt to cancel, but guessing it's going to be a no go since in their FAQ it states ALL SALES FINAL

well, it'll be a nice surprise in March-ish :D/

You can try through customer service. They say on the website no but then we've had one of the owners here (Doug) recently saying yes.

If you can't cancel it... I'm sure someone here can probably predict what you'll get. Like if it's 5 games... how many will be duplicates. Plenty of burned folks from past new years sales.

Anyone get shipping notifications yet for their "shipping right away, everything in stock" New Years order?

Don't know what I was expecting I guess...

I thought they said shipping ASAP, not "right away". ASAP is "as soon as possible" which in their current state is quite a while. They are very backlogged and haven't shipped out games that have been in their warehouse and ready to go since late November/early December. They are 1 1/2 to 2 months behind.

As Slow As Possible, this is LRG after all.

So, this has been a fun diversion....

On a more LRG specific note, I got fed up with an order from June of 2021 still not shipped, so I reached out to cancel and while they said they would they claimed that they attempted to refund my card a few times and it wouldn't go through, even though I just used that card to buy LRG stuff last week.

They claim the bank needs to send documentation explaining why they won't allow the refund, and the bank tells me they are full of crap and even if the card was canceled it would still go through to another account.

I'm beginning to think they just wanted to pretend to want to cancel with no actual intent to.

I've had two separate orders ship from the sale. I got the second notice today.

I think it's more proper to hate Limited Run Games for the company they've become in general than weird political affiliation stuff. Can't we just go back to hating them for pathetic shipping times, constant miscommunication and lies, and the metric fuck of shovelware cashgrabs, like usual?

All we need is one company doing what they do at scale to replace them anyways, since the company is generally terrible. They just have access to the best distribution channels so right now they're a necessary evil.

When should we expect the blind boxes? I'm assuming quite some time.
The problem in past years with blind boxes is two fold. The shipping cue hell... and then weather or not the blind boxes are actually packaged up. In past years they didn't actually have any packaged in their "blind box" containers when they were sold. So that added a huge delay before they even had a chance to get in the shipping cue.

It'll be interesting if they've learned from past years... or if it's March (or early April). But as always, temper expectations on time and the burn won't hurt as much.

They really need a separate shipping line dedicated to new orders for supposedly in stock items and process them first come first serve rather than adding them to the big cue of backlog.

The more I read, the more I regret purchasing from them.  Still no reply from CS and sent email Last Wednesday...my expectations are now lower than buying a pre-owned game from gamestop.

At the top of the LRG blowout page it said that orders are expected to ship by the end of Q1.

A few weeks ago, they said they had shipped the blind box games to their packing partner to be boxed up.

Set your expectation for March at the earliest.

GS will send you something not sealed new and call it new. Heck they'll put the "new" game in a different box. Ultimately with LRG you can always at least have the base expectations that you will eventually get your shit and it'll be what you ordered.

Return to Monkey Island being released through LRG. I'm just glad the game is getting a physical release.

Somehow hoping Pentiment gets a physical release someday.

I think that's a long shot. Despite being on Steam, the devs said the game would never have been greenlit if it wasn't for Game Pass, as Microsoft saw it as a perfect title for the service. So I'm thinking Microsoft wants to keep it there as a title to sell the service.

That's awesome news. I always get my games on PS4 though and this is coming to every system BUT Ps4. Any idea why they are skipping that console?

Guess I will go with Switch instead.

I am obviously not "in the know" but I would imagine pressure or a desire from both Sony & Microsoft to start phasing out PS4 & Xbone releases to focus on their current gen (If you notice LRG is also only releasing it on Series X).

Those two companies possibly increased their minimum printing requirements for releases on those consoles?

I believe Doug already covered this way back in the thread (I'm not going to dig through all the complaining and off topic BS to find it), but it's pretty much what Mobiletortoise said. Doug had mentioned that PS5 is starting to be pushed with open orders and the PS4 versions getting the limited releases due to declining quantities ordered.

The demand on PS4 is a lot lower than it used to be and we are seeing more people opt for PS5 or Switch.

So in order to get the games in hand faster we've been trying to do limited on PS4 and just adjusting per release if the demand is high which so far we've been fairly on point. Now that PS5's are a bit easier to find more people want PS5. PS5 is also good for a lot of people to start fresh on collecting.
Ok, I actually found it!

i got a shipping noti on my 2 normal games i ordered

its dhl packet so i dont expect it for a long while though

Thanks for the info. I read that as limiting the ps4 games to say 1000-1500 copies not eliminating them altogether. I've even recently seen crappy kemco ps4 games get small print runs so it's surprising something like monkey Island wouldn't get a few thousand printed.

Yeah that all tracks with what Special Reserves said about PS4 a while ago and why they didn't do PS4 limprints for Gato Roboto: not enough people buy on PS4 anymore. Hell, even though I don't want a PS5 yet, I'm cutting back on PS4 titles in favor of XSX/Steam Deck stuff, personally.

I'm actually kinda surprised Special Reserves didn't do this game, honestly. They're/Devolver basically the same company, but I guess LRG would give it bigger reach.

Why couldn't you just put out PS4 releases that also had a PS5 version on disc?

Seems like two birds with one stone. It's buying those Blu-ray sets with the digital and DVD included.

PS5 upgrades technically force a download of the PS5 version, rather than being available offline from the disc (same with Xbox One to XSX upgrades), and considering how a good chunk of LRG buyers like everything to be fully on the disc period, well, PS5 version is the way to go for that system. For xbox at least, I don't mind buying a copy of the XBO version for less and getting the upgrade.

FWIW, it seems like Monkey Island isn't numbered so it'll probably pop up elsewhere. Seems like there's a decent window to wait and see, at least. I'm also really surprised Devolver didn't take this one.

Also, some of the marketing materials had the wrong dates and misspelled "Caribbean". The latter might be part of the "arr" joke I guess? Oh well, LRG gonna LRG:

None of the AA and A/indie games benefit much from being on PS5. Frankly, I'd almost prefer a PS4 version if only because then I know it can play on both. PS5 boosts performance anyways of PS4 games so, on balance for me, prefer a PS4 version.

Both of those games are "wait haven't I heard that title somewhere before..." territory for me.

Reviews look like Ara Fell is decent and Third Power is pretty damn good. I'm certainly interested (and it's not Kemco so I'm doubly shocked)

I'm glad Monkey island is getting a physical release, but sad I won't be able to play it as I only have Ps4. I was hoping LRG was going to keep supporting Ps4 way after everyone else dropped it, like they did for Vita. But it seems like their already reducing support for Ps4 versions, though that might be the developers decision.

Yeah, that is a pleasant surprise. I feel about SRG the way many in this thread seem to feel about LRG. That would've been really tough for me if SRG had Return to Monkey Island. I probably would've caved and bought it despite swearing them off.

A lot of people soured on SRG after the 'Demon Throttle' release and their announcement that all their games will be available at retail going forward.

I preordered 'Demon Throttle' when it was announced, only for them to open a second round of preorders (fine), and then send it to retail where it has been upwards of $10 cheaper (this was the kicker) on Amazon. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to play the game and am glad to have it, but the whole thing was stinky. Before their retail announcement I had 'Card Sharks' preordered. Because of the announcement I wanted to cancel because no doubt if it hit Amazon I could get it for less, but, despite the ordering window still being open, SRG refused my request to cancel blaming preorder numbers.

I've received both games, and have played them, but I won't ever order direct from SRG again. If they have something I interested in, and it's a retail release, maybe, but the company is not one I look forward to purchasing from ever again.

Update: 3 emails (one on the 5th, the 7th, and the 10th) sent since ordered on Jan 2 and yet to be given any reply other than the auto " Thanks for submitting your request".  I get that it won't be until March ish (according to this thread) when I see the blind box games.  However, to not even reply? Awful CS. Will be the first and last time I order from LRG.

When you say "email" do you mean an actual email or you went to their support page...

https://support.limitedrungames.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Support does (based on situations posted here) take a long time to get a response out of. But if you went through the proper process you should eventually get an actual person. I have no clue how much staff they have handling this stuff but I imagine it's one or two people total and the volume of tickets being generated is so large that they just aren't able to get to things in a timely fashion.

Maybe someone else will chime in and remind us how long their last interactions with CS went.

SRG soured me with BroForce. I've been waiting forever for that game to be released. I ordered it with copy of Disc Room and that has been in limbo forever because of BroForce.

The last two games I ordered both showed up at retail, Demon Throttle and Death's Door. They do produce nice collectors editions but I'm not a collector's edition person. You have to really wow me for me to consider a collectors edition. Most are just filled with unnecessary junk that sits in a box. I've purchased one SRG Collectors, Downwell because it came with flip grip.

The one game I really would like to purchase is the Serious Sam Collection but I'd want that on PS4 or Xbox.

I've been waiting for a good sale on the Xbox version digitally. Hopefully soon since its been on sale for $12 on PSN.

Maybe this year BroForce will finally be released.

First off, I really appreciate your help and insight with this. You always seem to be the one to reply.

Secondly, I went through their actual support request (used order number and all). At first, it was simply a hey why hasn't this shipped? Because, foolishly, I thought blind box meant that they had the games avaialble and ready to ship out. Tone was the same for the second email. However, come the third, I asked to cancel the order.

And yes I did read in the FAQ all sales are final (after I ordered) but I figured can't hurt to ask.

Also noticed that they do not allow you to comment on their twitter page nor facebook. I imagine it is afraid of any negativity, but I digress....
