Target Clearance Thread XXIV

:switch: Shin Megami Tensei V (NSW)

Saw this today at another location today but it wasn't a good price imo. I mean I've seen it for $20 in-store at a Walmart or two around here that still have a copy or two. Plus it goes for pretty cheap whenever VGP has a sale on it. The problem with Target on this title is that they still have the regular price at $60, which kills it. Even at 70% off it would still only be a couple of bucks less.

Reminder to anyone interested in picking this up that this does not come with a free or paid upgrade to the new Vengeance version

Also all of the DLC for this was wiped from the eShop

Tried another location today and saw on clearance:
:switch: Bravely Default II (NSW)

will have to reach 70% off to be a good deal though considering what I've seen it go for in the past

Yeah definitely considering that it was 15 on Amazon back in that pickup promo iirc.

what promo was that?
20$ off x2 when you used their locker pickup option iirc. They had timed exp but other users discovered that if you made the order then canceled it that removed the exp date of the promo. Allowing you to use it whenever vs having to use it up fast. The game itself was 35 at the time so with the 20 off that knocked it down to 15. I used mine to grab trails from zero, that game and then the 3rd one they did 15 off was trails to azure. This was back in 2021 where they ran that promo almost once a month.

Oh yeah, now I remember that. I believe I used it on something at the time. Kind of a pretty limited situation though and not specific to that item, so personally I wouldn't count it. That said, Bravely Default II has been $25-$30 on it's own a bunch of times before (and with wide availability).

The new round of Summer clearance video games have dropped to 50% off in my area. A bit surprised it happened so soon.

Also saw another (new) Switch game:
:switch: My Friend Peppa Pig - Complete Edition (NSW)

B1g1 this Sunday but man does it piss me off when my pending transactions on my redcard still shows $105 instead of $52 (b1g1 cancel) which leaves me less available credit. When tf is that gonna update. Had my redcard for years now and I’m still at 600 credit limit just wow lol

It's actually B2G1 free for next week (Sunday).

Also noticed some first-party Switch games will be $35.

I don’t think they ever increase credit lines. You can call I suppose. Mine is $2500 which is pretty low for me, but I never spend that much at Target so it is fine.

Do the cancel thing and you may get banned. My friend had her Target account blocked from online purchases after she did that a few times. And her last order was canceled. She said Target also flagged her Red Card - not sure what she meant by that, though.

Most likely there are other factors that lead to a ban as it is a very common tactic

hm guess its possible but ive been doin it for years and no problems at all. one way I can see someone getting banned tho is asking a rep to manually apply a b1g1 free on ur cart then cancelling the paid one to get one free game without buying another. I accidentally did something like that once on the app since I didn't know how to check which game I wanted to cancel

Had a circle bonus offer: spend $100 on circle card in a single purchase, get $15.
Ordered kid's school supplies + Pikmin 4 ($35) + Sea of Stars (price matched @ $30).

Welp, I accidentally bought a non-refundable digital copy of Pikmin 4. If anyone wants it for $30 USD, i'm willing to sell it for you and eat the price difference as my own fault. taken

yeah that almost happened to me too. I noticed at checkout i had the Digital version and when I went back, it looked like Target had the Digital as the default selected instead of the Physical version selected.

There is literally not a single Switch game included in the B2G1, so don't waste your time like I did if that is all you want to see.

Yeah, I noticed that earlier as well. Kind of surprising and a bit sad, but at least we got the other promo with the handful of discounted first-party games.

I got spend $70 in one purchase and receive $10 in Circle rewards, which in a way works out conveniently with the purchase of two of the $34.99 first-party Switch games that are on sale.

Unless you’re getting something to flip I think at this point it’s just best to wait for Black Friday season.

I would be real wary about passing on some of the $35 first-party Switch games though. Yeah, perhaps some could end up going for $30 on Black Friday but Nintendo can be real hit or miss when it comes to what titles are offered in promos or not. I wouldn't pass on Pikmin 4 or Kirby and The Forgotten Land at least anyway.

This is what I was thinking to, it’s so rare for first party switch games to reach $30-$35 point.

Pikmin 4 at $35 is not something to be slept on. It's an absolute joy of a game that everyone should play. Plus, it sold really well, so I doubt it's going to go lower than this any time soon (if ever).

As always, rule of thumb is "buy it if you'll play it now, otherwise wait" though everyone is correct in that it's unlikely to be any cheaper than $30 - $35 anytime soon, if ever, which is true for all first party Nintendo stuff at least until the new system hits.

Waiting a few months to maybe save a couple bucks is probably not worth it.

That's tantamount to heresy on this forum, where we wait literal years to save a couple of bucks 🤣

ended up finally getting diablo 4 for ps5 for $20 (and still won't play it). if its not 20 or less on Black Friday, I'd lose faith in humanity

If it was vanilla I'd be shocked given those didn't really make it to markdown/sales last time. I think they all dried up by December when it was 35 at gamestop.

Vengeance just came out like a month ago so I seriously doubt it's that. I had already spotted vanilla on clearance so it's probably just some steelbooks of that that they pulled out of the back or had laying around.
