Niche (adjective) - denoting products, services, or interests that appeal to a small, specialized section of the population.
What series would you consider niche?

As applies to video games IPs? Certainly not something that sells over a million copies per title on average, especially at Nintendo first party pricing.

Poison Control is niche. Akiba’sTrip is niche. Disgaea is niche. Xenoblade may not be Call of Duty, but it’s reasonably well known, reasonably well respected, and has sold pretty well.

Not be a stickler but I believe Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition should be considered first party Nintendo games now. Some of those games are also quicker plays like Super Lucky's Tales and Disney platformer pack. It's understandable though. I may put some games out to pasture (donate or Ebay) since I have more unopened unplayed games than I would like.
That was an extra copy of Xenoblade I got on clearance. Lucky Tales I have a sealed copy on PS4 that I'm going to play.
I'm right there with you. Over the last year I've been slowly purging my stuff. I expect I'll probably do a large one like this soon with my Playstation and Switch stuff.
Cool. I'm going through my PS stuff right now. This is whats leaving so far.

Edit: I found a few more PS4 games and some retro duplicates. Final haul is just over 100 games.

Ah ok. I get ya. We had this conversation on reddit a few years agoand it was split down the middle on how people view what was a niche series. You should look it up. It was actually very civil. Those examples would have been good to bring up. Sales numbers & mainstream appeal were among talking points. Thanks

Sounds like Amazon cancelled pretty much everyone on the internet's preorder of Metroid Prime 4. I have to assume it's going to be a $70 title on Switch 2 so Andy Jassy over at Amazon saw all of our $48 copies and was like, heck no.
My Best Buy preorder has yet to be cancelled... we'll see how that goes.

They don't take sealed games. Most of this purge are unopened. So I'll probably sell a mix of online & local. We have a few local retro game stores and a monthly game swap & shop.
Ah I gotcha. You could open them and then trade them in, but I'm sure you'll get a hell of a lot more doing what you're doing. Good luck, I just purged a bunch of Amiibo, sold them to a local game shop. Could have gotten a lot more I'm sure selling them individually on eBay but it was quick cash and I don't have to deal with all the hassle. Might go through some of my older PS3/PS4 and switch games and get it down to what I actually might realistically play. The GameCube, SNES, and 64 collection is here to stay though.

I have right around 100 physical PS4 games now, and I definitely haven't played half of them. I might consider getting rid of some if GS offered more than pennies for them.

You should give them to me, I’ll play them. At least the ones that aren’t sports sims or first person shooters. Or rhythm games. Or Neptunia. But I’ll definitely play the rest!

…eventually.

What is this ominous backlog that threatens to engulf us all?

Thanks dude. Yeah I'll be pricing stuff out soon and scoping out where I can make the most. I'll take my time for sure. I'm happy with the rest of my collection. Everything from NES to PS3 has long been curated and will stay. I just had to get out of the recent habit of buying games just because it's a good deal.

  • Video signal conversion (DisplayPort to HDMI) must be chip model; Ruixian RTD2175N must be chip (support HDMI 2.1).
  • Network chip model: Ruiming RTL8153B-VB-CG and Gigabit Ethernet chip (the base has a network cable interface).
  • Microcontroller chip model: STMicroelectronics JSTM32G0OB0OCET6.
  • Video game console protective case model: HGU1100 (size: 206 x 115 x 14mm, made of plastic).
  • Speakers: MUSE BOX-L and MUSE BOX-R (two-channel stereo).
Yet another round of rumored tech specs have surfaced. We can’t speak to the legitimacy of these figures, so please take them with a grain of salt. Some of this aligns with what we shared earlier above, and some differs.

Technical Specifications:

CPU: Arm Cortex-A78C

  • 8 cores
  • Unknown L1/L2/L3 cache sizes
GPU @ Nvidia T239 Ampere (RTX 20 series)

  • 1 Graphics Processing Cluster (GPC)
  • 12 Streaming Multiprocessors (SM)
  • 1534 CUDA cores
  • 6 Texture Processing Clusters (TPC)
  • 48 Gen 3 Tensor cores
  • 2 RTX ray-tracing cores
RAM: 12 GB LPDDR5, (some/all units will have LPDDR5X chips)

  • Two 6 GB chips
Power Profiles:
Handheld:

  • CPU @ 1100.8 MHz
  • GPU @ 561 MHz, 1.72 TFLOPs peak
  • RAM @ 2133 MHz, 68.26 GB/s peak bandwidth
Docked:

  • CPU @ 998.4 MHz
  • GPU @ 1007.3 MHz, 3.09 TFLOPs peak
  • RAM @ 3200 MHz, 102.40 GB/s peak bandwidth
For a comparison in terms of TFLOPs, the Xbox Series S clocks in at 4 TFLOPs, while the PS4 Pro is 4.2 TFLOPs. We can also go a step further by showing TFLOP percentage comparison with PS4 and PS5:

PS4

  • Docked - 111%
  • Handheld - 61%
PS5

  • Docked - 21%
  • Handheld - 12%

That seems like a greater disparity for docked vs handheld than the current switch, docking this new one must really juice it up.

As long as it gets new games I want to play and is BC as expected with Carts and digital games, I'm not really too concerned over tech specs. It's all about the games for me and if this is a nice upgrade so I can just move everything from Switch to Switch 2... I'll probably be a day 1 buyer.

Right there with you, I haven’t cared too much for graphical parity with Nintendo systems all the way back to Wii, their own 1st party games almost always look great, which is what matters to me. If we end up getting some more current gen or even PS4 era ports, well that’s just gravy.

Same. If I can simply replace my existing Switch with this one but still bring over my existing library of games but with better performance then I will buy it on release. I liked that the PS5 made the transition from PS4 very smooth in a similar fashion.

Wish they gave a date when preorders would begin. I also was holding out hope that it would be called the Nintendo Switcharoonie. I cannot wait until April 2!

Oh, April 2 is just a Direct, not release date. Boo.

Yeah, I have $30 in Best Buy certs that I wanted to use on this. Plus, I feel like by April the entire console will be leaked. Especially with the alleged Switch 2 on the black market already

Also looks like the leakers didn't spoil everything...

Could not care less about mouse functionality. Will probably be used as much as the Switch touchscreen.

It’s always been about the games but even more so with this Switch 2 because the wow factor is not there.
The only reason I would have ever touched my Switch's touch screen is if I had to when I first set it up. Same goes with the mouse functionality, I will NEVER use this. I imagine there are a lot of FPS fans who will get use out of this?

I am going to order the Switch 2 as soon as I can, and sell my OLED Switch soon after.

I’ll probably hold onto my OLED until there’s an OLED 2.

So far so good. The blurb at the end said it's compatible with physical and digital switch games. There will be some incompatibilities, maybe due to lack of something in the new system. I'm sure I'll end up getting one of these and like others, it'll remain docked most of the time. April 2nd we get to find out about games and what not. I'm glad it's not soon. I don't need it anytime soon anyway.

We have 3 Switches. We’ll just get the Switch 2 as an additional system.

Only thing I’m actually worried about is if it launches while we are spending 3 weeks in Japan this summer so I’d have to send it to my mom’s house.
