I do think there's quite a bit of rose-tinted glasses going on as I'd say Oblivion is my least favorite. Granted I only go back as far as Morrowind in that sense but those hellgates at the end were enough to put me off from finishing the game at all the first time I played Oblivion. The map is also fairly small so I think a lot of people will enjoy it but be reminded that the game was just pretty good; not Skyrim amazing.

I played Fallout 3 and Skyrim on my PS3, but could not handle Oblivion or (especially) Morrowind... They were way too glitchy. Morrowind was worse since it didn't hold your hand so it sucked when the game crashed. I'm looking forward to a more modern Oblivion.

Ok...That's true of just about every game series, because of how long and complicated development is nowadays. There were four new 'Halo' games on 360 and only two new entries across Xbox One/Series.

My larger point is I'd rather wait for the complete edition, because Sony follows them up pretty quickly after the initial release.

I have a million RPGs to go through plus getting Hundred Line this week also, but Clair Obscur is on my wish list and I will get it once it drops enough. Does seem to be reviewing well and it does look really gorgeous nonetheless.

I'm almost finished with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. I don't know how many other people gave it a shot, but it's a great Metroidvania platformer. Some of the platforming is difficult, but it never feels unfair. When I die, it's more because I screwed up.

Anyway, looking at my list, and I think I've narrowed down my next game to one of these: Hogwart's Legacy, Robocop, Dragon Age: Veilguard, or Star Wars: Jedi Survivor. I think I'm leaning towards Hogwart's Legacy because that's in the catalog and might not be around for too long. I have Jedi Survivor on disc, so I'm less concerned about that going away. Any thoughts on any of these?

Hogwarts legacy is really good! One of the few games I’ve actually enjoyed this gen

Unfortunately true. People expect 8-9 figure budget experiences on all the AAA games now. Anything less than that level of production quality out of a big studio, and you get masses of gamers and journalists poo-pooing it. I'd rather see a return to the days when companies would release games every year or two that were less of a spectacle (cheaper to make) and more experimental.

Indies came in and filled that niche for a bit, but now if you search the press/storefronts for indie games, the ones that are getting visibility are the ones made with 5-, 6-, occasionally 7- (ex: Sea of Stars) figure budgets. In the PS4 days, I really enjoyed digging through PSN's indie sales for cheap, low-budget, experimental games, but now those are buried pretty deep into page count and relatively hard to find, even if you're actively looking for them.

I loved Prince of Persia LC and the DLC is really good too. If I could make a suggestion for your next game I would play Robocop next. It's not a long game about 15-20 hours and is ridiculously fun. I played Hogwarts and Jedi Survivor and both are great but about 55-65 hours long. Dragon Age is in the backlog.

I have all of those...order of play
Hogwarts --> Survivor --> Veilguard

admittedly have yet to play Robocop and have finished the other 3 so my ranking is based on how much I enjoyed the overall story from least to greatest....I will get to Robocop some day, but have had too many other things to pick from (Shadows, Indy, and Expedition 33)

With Walking Dead Saints & Sinners 2 leaving premium, this might be a great time to mention that it’s received a price drop all the way down to $10. It’s such a steep discount that I’ve been debating picking it up despite chapter 1 not clicking with me. Heard the graphics & haptics are super good and improved over chapter 1.

If you buy it, be careful not to buy the PS4 version since they're the same price and don't appear to be crossbuy even though the first game had a free upgrade path unless you're actually intending to play the PSVR1 version. If you do buy the game, please confirm if the game was crossbuy or not.

IIRC, the platforming only gets super crazy if you're going for the platinum. There are a couple tough sections tied to side quests / collectibles.

PoP was a surprise cheap buy for me on Switch before I got my PS5. I really, really enjoyed it.

Anyone play Expedition 33? Game's sitting at 92 Metascore... I didn't really get the hype for the game but wow, that's pretty impressive. Gonna have to give it a try.

Bought it but haven't tried it. Was on the fence, watched the trailer, heard Shadowheart's voice, bought it, and went back to play BG3 (no joke).

I will probably try it tomorrow though.

It was $36 on Humble from 20% Choice discount and pre-order discount. It kind of looks like a mix of 2 parts Final Fantasxy XVI, 2 parts Nier: Automata, and 1 part Persona 5 mashed together.

The Steelbook versions have been sold out for months so I don't know if it's really a sleeper hit.

My wife doesn't play turn-based action RPGs by herself. Tonight she played a turn-based action RPG for six hours straight.
