Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Very misleading, the protection play is not $5, it was a $5 pre order for the protection plan and you get a free screen protector at pick up. The protection plan was $45 for 1 year and $75 for 2 if I remember right.
in their defense i was only half listening to what she was saying, i was just overhearing what she was telling another customer as i was busy with my own purchase

I wipe the console and then put a dummy account on it. Personally I don't trust gamestop to properly do... Anything?
yeah you need a dummy account or your own account to still be on it for them to fully test it, and now evidently it needs to be updated to the latest firmware before you bring it in. the last series x trade i did she kept saying that if it needs an update on their slow wifi she wouldn’t be able to take it today. but when she went to reset it there was no update needed

I just traded in my xbox series x today and can confirm the $455.xx credit still works when preordering a game. Also it seems like preordering any game would work to get the 10% boost in credit. For reference, I preordered Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templar Reforged for PS5 ($5 deposit).
Also tested something else and it seems like the 10% boost will apply to any trade in not just consoles. I traded in 2 xbox games and I got 10% extra credit on those as well making it 30% extra credit in total for pro members.
I never got 455 only 420.67 just on system alone

i went in after work (about 3:30) and got the last mario kart bundle they had for preorder. they were really pushing all the bundle shit and screen protector and all this. they told me they aren't getting any games or accessories except for what people preorder and i said good they are too expensive anyway. it was worse for the guy beside me because he had to preorder just a vanilla console and they guy was preaching to him that he wouldn't have any games and he better get them now while he still can! this was some next level harassment going on.
It's just a messed up situation for everyone. Corporate gotta get their act together

So it's 10 percent bonus with pro, and 20 percent bonus for a pre order of any game?

So series x will be 455 and ps5 slim disc is 390?
question asks GIF

I want to trade my PS5 for the Pro but I have doubts I can convince them to let me swap the plates in store so I can trade it as a digital version to keep my disc drive.

Traded in a digital slim ps5 just now, it was $360 but when I pre ordered a game for $5 down, it boosted it up to $390-$5...$385 on the trade credit.

So this ps5 was purchased as a disc slim ps5, I took out the the plate and disc drive to keep it for my ps5 pro. I swapped the plate from a different digital slim.

I went by Gamestop and the manager told me they don't have any Pros right now but that a shipment should be coming in later today. I asked him about the plates and he told me that I can swap them in store when I come back. I won't get to go back until tomorrow since I have work in a bit so if values hold then I'll get the Pro tomorrow.

Let us know if that works. I think I read somewhere, maybe Gamestop reddit, that we can't just remove the disc drive and trade it in as a digital PS5 because it is based on the SKU ID of the PS5 when they scan it.

Dropped by my local GS to see if they still had any Switch 2 preorders available, they were all out. Picked up this game instead for $10, heard it was GoTY Final Francetasy Je RPG.

I gathered some information in-store this week about this. I was told by a usually well-informed employee that there is a sku for a digital ps5 trade he can manually input/select. In that case, the scanning would only be to read the SN.

I still have an issue of lacking a white non-disc panel because I would be moving my drive to an anniversary slim. I wonder if I could get away with trading it as digital with the empty disc cover attached.

I traded mine first thing this morning.
I had a disk slim, took off the disk drive and put a plate from a digital ps5 on it. Went to the store, luckily the machine wasn't scanning the ps5 barcode. So the rep just entered the serial number. On the touch screen that they use for the trades, he put it as a digital ps5, white

$385 with the $5 pre order trick

Haven't traded at GameStop in years, but they brought me out of retirement. Can't believe they gave $910 total credit for two Series X systems. Perfect timing with the Switch 2 coming out soon
Did you buy them both for around $500, or were you lucky enough to get one when they were discounted for as low as $350? It's definitely crazy that they're pretty much paying you to take your used product that you got to play on for years and can basically just swap it for a next-gen console. Everyone who has a good experience streaming on Game Pass should take this opportunity to dump their console.

I'm still curious why GS is paying such a high price for them. The new and used price for a Series X is only a $5 difference for non-Pro members, so I can't imagine they'd actually expect to sell them unless Microsoft stops manufacturing them.

A guy yesterday traded in his oled when I was in line and got $183.xx for it towards his switch 2 reserve.

Absolute lowest I was expecting is a 10% boost on the $175 amount, but it seems the 10% boost is based off of the normal base value instead.

Was hoping for it stack for 20% this week, but ah well, at least I have my expectations set now

The promotion ends on the business day of April 26th.

About 2 months ago, Walmart had a glitch where Series Xs went for $123 on Walmart.com, and they honored the glitch for some but not everyone. I didn't get on, but read threads after the factthe-xbox-series-x-is-123-on-walmart-right-now-v0-t9k3hp26dwne1.jpg

With the Gamestop trade-in and preorder, does anyone else have a store that's making them preorder with only the full value of a game and not just $5 down?

I skipped the preorder and stuck with just $420.70, still a great deal, but the preorder thing made it feel like I missed out.

Lowest preorder i've seen was a dollar but locations that can do that vary

Nope they just made me do $5.

You could’ve just got $35 more and just cancelled it later.

You guys think Microsoft will put the series x on sale to compete with switch 2?

No, they’ve been focused on cloud gaming, new series x consoles haven’t been very common to see lately and used pricing has been reflecting that. First time I’ve seen consoles get more expensive with time. Super weird.

It’s interesting because neither target nor Amazon has any. I’m not surprised by Amazon but I figured Target would have it.
