Target Clearance Thread XXIV

I literally found everything except XB3. I found skyward sword HD but for full retail. Need both of those titles, LOZ on the low want list.

Wow talk about envy! Tell me you had to visit 25 stores to find these…

Here I am visiting stores with either no games or no clearance.

You win this round for sure.

Holy heck that's a lot of clearance. One of my Targets had so many of the Call of Duty Vanguard PS5. At least 40 copies all marked $20ish clearance I think lol. I think I also saw P5 Tactics Switch too, but I already own it on PS5, so I didn't check the price (think it was the same as most other clearance off full prices titles $17.99).

FWIW (and YMMV), but the biggest obstacle right now is finding a store in your area with said clearance prices. Once you do, there's the opportunity to possibly grab stock of said games you want from another Target with the chance to run a return/rebuy at the store with clearance prices. Did that twice this past weekend to pick up FF7 Rebirth for $21 and FF16 for $12.

After finding a store with the 70% clearance pricing (but no copies in stock), I just went to the next closest store, which had plenty of stock at higher prices. Paid there with my regular CC, then went back to the other store (the one with the lower prices) later that day and asked if there was a way to run a return/rebuy so that I could instead use my RedCard for the additional savings. Don't mention anything about the pricing difference between stores. People I had at Customer Service had no problem doing it (though again, YMMV, depending on your customer service people).

Just mentioning this option for those who are currently on the hunt for various things. Might be easier to get your various games this way right now, provided you have a store with the 70% off pricing, than if/when all stores are officially clearancing and you're fighting soccer moms looking for eBay flips after said clearance prices have hit Slickdeals.

Also, for a quicker time determining whether a store has your desired products for cheap, you can go to Brickseek and generate each game's barcode (might need a basic/free account to do this). After you've put in the DPCI and searched for said product, you should see an option on the next page where the product is shown. Screenshot the barcode(s), then use one of the customer pricing kiosks in each Target to immediately see what the various prices are. Speeds the process up versus having to search for clearance endcaps or asking associates for help at each store.

Good luck!
That return/rebuy is absolutely against Target policy. You may get a nice CSR, but that's frankly more YMMV as these clearance prices

I'll keep out for the two switch games you're after but unfortunately the 2 locations I went to are full msrp :/ Anything specific for trade with the Visions?

You looking for XBC3 or already have it? There are a couple targets near me that have it and one of those Metroid Primes looks nice...

Yeah but does it matter how it scanned, I used the self one it showed the tag games being marked down and the none tagged in the same group still full price. Nothing is really hidden in my area
Whatever the store scanner says the price is, that will be the price for any copies of that game at the checkout. A worker has to manually scan each game for the clearance price to show up at checkout. That's why some stores are full price, some 30% and some already 70%. Just depends on the individual store and whether a lot of games, certain games or no games at your store will be in this clearance event.

Found 1 copy of Advance Wars for 17.99. It wasn't there the other day so I'm guessing they found it in the back or something. Got them to scan Skyward Sword, Pikmin 1+2, Final Fantasy 16 and Horizon Complete but they all rang up full price.

I finally made it to my local Target. My closest one is about 30 minutes away. I was also not that enthusiastic to go because their game selection is tiny. They did have games on clearance though. Most did not have stickers on them, so I had to take a bunch to the scanner. I picked up Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PS5 $21 and Visions of Mana PS5 $18. I wasn't interested in or already had most of the games that were on sale. I did see about 5 copies of Advance Wars Switch for $18.

One of mine had a crazy amount of Scarlet and Violet DLC bundle copies... all on clearance

Then in a bit of ironic timing today they just restocked the 004 revision version on VGP, which I just bought.

Today is just Scarlet and Violet day for me apparently...

Well, the store I’ve been checking a few times finally seems to have put stuff on clearance. But it’s odd because not everything everyone else has been seeing/reporting was clearanced (even scanned them to make sure and yeah one was the scarlet/violet pack) and only a handful were at the 70%. This whole thing has been kind of a head scratcher. Did manage to grab FF16 for $12 though so that’s not bad

Always looking for vita titles, Zelda: Echoes, Zelda Skyward sword HD, Luigi HD.

I was looking for it, but already have a trade pending for it. Thanks tho.

I've managed to hit two locations so far after getting back from vacation. I was going to let this one go but as soon as I saw that the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro was on clearance, I hit the bricks to hunt that down.

Picked up the following:
:switch: Metroid Prime Remastered $11.99
:switch: Emio The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club $14.99
:ps5: Final Fantasy XVI $11.99
:ps5: Helldivers II $11.99
:ps5: TMNT: Wrath of the Mutants $5.60
:ps5: TMNT: Mutants Unleashed $11.99

Saw a SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 for $125.99 (30%) that I did not buy (the Arctis 7 is okay but it's not what I'm looking for).

Passed up a bunch of Advance Wars 1 & 2 and other shovelware (including about 30 copies of Star Wars Squadrons for PS4 at $5.98 each).

Has anyone actually found Skyward Sword or Pikmin on clearance? I'm starting to think those 2 are extremely YMMV and aren't going to be clearanced at most stores.

And saw none of the games mentioned at my nearest Bainbridge ohio target besides call of duty. Oh well I figured it was a long shot after wario64 posted about it.

No. Only switch games I’ve seen clearanced between three stores were Capcom fighting collection, advance wars 1+2, triangle something, Metroid prime, hello neighbor 2, and samba de amigo.

In earnest, your stores may not even be participating in this clearance so you likely didn't miss anything.

it's a total crapfest on which Targets are doing this. Most Targets near are not doing it, or if are, have barely discounted the games (like $10). Only one I came to had at least a couple of the games mentioned here but at higher prices. And the other games were there, just all MSRP.

Really hoping for a xenoblade 3 find.

Went to 8 Targets and almost quit after striking out at the first one Saturday afternoon. Two were from today and weren’t cleared out yet. Saw a lot of Switch games that didn’t hit the magical $17.99 or below yet so I will check those stores out again this week. No I mean none of the games mentioned were even in stock at the store. not that none of them were on sale and stock at full price or slightly reduced. And this store has a full switch section isle plus the emdcaps. compared to 1 row on each side of half isles for ps and xbox.

The shelves were pretty empty. So that was my main thought as to why they had been picked over. As normally you'd expect pokemon scarlet Violet to be in stock along with other 1st party Nintendo stuff.

This store hasn't had any clearance since the fire sadly. But prior to it they used to have some amazing stuff. I practically got all my Xmas shopping done in a trip during one summer and nearly all small appliances besides a mixer.

I finally found one at drugmart of all places. That was really weird that kohl's Walmart target etcetera I checked and none of them had any.

This clearance doesn't even make sense. Target is running an actual sale on Rebirth and FF16 for $50 and $30 right now yet a few random stores are getting rid of them altogether? I think certain stores may be downsizing their gaming sections.

I can totally see the Xbox section disappearing by the end of the year. However, rather than reduce the game section, odds could be good that the Nintendo section would take that little extra space.

Console gaming wise, let's be frank, it's really PlayStation and Switch now.

The 2 I've been to don't really have an Xbox game section anymore. The only Xbox games I saw were Black Ops 6, AC Mirage and a couple sports games. Then they had some Xbox headsets and gift cards. No Xbox consoles either. The writing is on the wall for Xbox unfortunately.

Even the playstation section is getting smaller at a few of the stores I go to.

Suspect we have to be nearing the end of physical game media at Target. They've stopped carrying new releases in store for the most part.

I think Nintendo will always have a physical media presence. Sony's is going to get increasingly downsized. Xbox will probably stop making physical games by the end of the year.

I understand why Sony wants to push gamers towards digital, but I think they are being shortsighted too. Having a decreased presence for PlayStation in stores will also decrease their overall brand awareness long term IMO.

Nah, that's an old school mentality. PC gamers have been all digital for ages now and everyone who cares about video games knows about Steam. Literally the only physical store presence Steam has is gift cards. PS and Xbox will have those, plus accessories, merch, and download codes for specific games. As much as physical collectors don't like it, this generation will be the last hooray for actual video game media for Xbox and PlayStation. Nintendo might be a different story.

But yeah, it does seem like the clearance is for Targets downsizing their game section. My local Target had a bunch of PS5 titles on clearance and they have basically eliminated the Xbox games section and halved the PS section. Meanwhile, I didn't find anything at the other Targets that haven't changed.

Agreed. I posted this in another thread. target and Best Buy are downsizing their gaming sections just like they did with BD/4K movies. It really is the death of gaming in the retail space. GameStop will be the only one left, and their whole image being created on a ‘gaming store’ is now all cards and plushies.

As far as xbox at target, Microsoft added the console died and they gave up on It at this point. Which I’m glad, it was a console that I’ve loathed with a passion, when I used to be a diehard for them a decade ago.

Hit up 3 stores today, found just a couple more.

IMG_9962.jpeg

Two of the stores had a ton of games on endcaps, one even had a dump bin filled with them. Tekken 8, Suicide Squad, Persona Royal for switch, Pokemon Snap, AC Mirage, Tchia, Rachet and Clank, Fae Farm, etc… all full price. Asked the girl working Tech, and she said they’ll just sit there since they aren’t in the planogram anymore. I think it’s just the proactive stores that are clearancing out games that many of us can’t find for sale but aren’t in the set anymore.

Armored Core was on clearance for 30 something and I also saw Halo Infinite for 18. I have Armored Core already and I’m sure I’ll be able to find Halo for pennies some day.

As soon as Sony moves totally away from physical I'm dropping Sony for a gaming PC. Physical is almost always cheaper than digital at least for the first 2 years after a release.

Also, when it comes to PC games, they are so much cheaper than their PS5 digital counterparts. For sure PC gaming is the future for me if less and less physical media is being made.

Photo drop! My local store dropped some switch games. Also took photos of my local best buy to show how they display meanwhile I forgot to take photos of target!

I had to screenshot the photos on my iPhone 15 Pro max as CAG won't allow me to directly upload with an error "filesize too large". Any other ideas on how to post photos easier?

Seeing this Im convinced Target is phasing out physical games....

This is annual for them. You should see the board game section when they do a nationwide clearance.

Although I’ve said this here prior. And recently. It’s either the manufacturers, the retailers, or both working together and colluding. They’re purposely trying to get rid of the physical market to turn everything digital and control the people with subscriptions. Just look at the music industry. No more CDs. No more tapes. Vehicles don’t even have disc players anymore, neither do PCs. Want to listen to music in your car? Better be subscribing to pandora spotify or apple music.

Now look at the move industry. No more discs in stores. Amazon runs the Blu-ray and 4K market now. And we see $65 steelbooks because there’s no competition any longer. Oh but wait! You can subscribe to Disney. Or Hulu. Netflix. Peacock. And countless others.

The music industry already changed to streaming. Movies are just about there. Next is console gaming.

Just visited a target a little out of town. Basically no clearance. And basically no games on the shelf at all!
