Target Clearance Thread XXIV

Just visited a target a little out of town. Basically no clearance. And basically no games on the shelf at all!
They wouldn't be on shelf, the clearance games always facing the tv's. My shelf be empty but some times you gotta ask them for the game cause they might not have them out like that but are in stock that's just speculation but they did get rid of the movie section though.

With Target and Walmart YMMV they get real creative where clearance games can be; some Targets even have their endcap videogames like 7 aisles over near like automotive stuff or linens or something way off electronics. Endcaps, hanging in plastic hangers on the side of the end caps, on shelves above the games in the case, in boxes near where the cell phone people hang out so you hope they're just absent if you have to dig through a box of clearance games piled high on each other with other non clearance games that aren't worthy of locking in the bigger cases.

Makes clearance hunting more whimsical!

anybody find anything in SoCal? I just assume its nothing as always.
Yes and No. Past 3 days at the 9 stores I've been searching have been hit or miss.

Cant seem to find Metroid Prime, Scarlet/Violet (Any version Double pack or DLC Bundle) and now Echoes of Wisdom is on my radar. If you want Paw Patrol I'm your person lol.

one store i go to has all the games in the normal cases and you have to ask them to open the case as they have all the clearance games together in a stack

Scan em too. Visions of Mana was $17.99 but not marked. Tho I still haven't found one inside the glass cases that was actually reduced. and yes, I'll buy another copy of FF16 for $11 and put it in the basement for 6 years to ripen.

I keep checking my local store and zero markdowns on most current PS5 games. I did see FF16 for $12 though I own two copies of the deluxe edition so the plain version isn’t worth it for me.

picked up visions of mana, ff16 and ff7 rebirth. I have yet to find bayonetta 3 on clearance

Saw God of war Ragnarok ps4 on clearance but not 70% off yet

Picked up a few games all for PS5:

Alan wake 2 $17.99
Rise of Ronin $20.99
Visions of Mana $17.99
Tekken 8 $11.99
Mortal Kombat 1 $11.99
Sifu $14.99

Was able to return/rebuy at 3 different targets in Miami,FL.

If anyone wants to know the locations of the targets, PM me.

wario ware move it $14.99

this clearance is making me regret my Black Friday purchases

what state was this in? I’ve been at my local target basically every other day to check on these drops. no go.

I remember back in the day, Target electronics would go on clearance and be adjusted on Mondays. When I was a kid, I used to hide stuff at the store. I would come back Mondays, take the hidden item, and scan it to see if it dropped in price.

Are Mondays still the days when electronic clearances are adjusted or is it random?

Now it’s random and up to the tech lead. I verified with a manager at my local store that all of the PS5 games people are seeing for clearance are NOT set up for future markdowns. So I don’t know how or why some stores are unless somehow it’s regional.

Sick, just scored the PS Turtle Beach Stealth Pros for 70% off. Out of the way store for me, but stopped since I was in the area. It was marked at 30% when I went last week. If you saw one its worth checking back. Saw a couple new games too. Temtem Switch and TMNT Mutants Unleashed PS5 both at 70%.

Today Haul Round 2 all 17.99.
Also Minecraft Ps5 version 8.99 (not pictured)

That switch haul is insane. How is that even possible...? No idea how some stores are going nuclear and wiping out most of their gaming sections at 70% off, meanwhile other stores are not doing any clearance.

What state is this in?

I think Nintendo will always have a physical media presence. Sony's is going to get increasingly downsized. Xbox will probably stop making physical games by the end of the year.

I understand why Sony wants to push gamers towards digital, but I think they are being shortsighted too. Having a decreased presence for PlayStation in stores will also decrease their overall brand awareness long term IMO.
I think this is right, at least for Switch 2. However, I can still see Target cutting down its game section and bringing most of its stock online, just like it's done its blurays/4ks/dvds, some time this year.

Went a Target about thirty minutes away yesterday. They had about fifty copies of My Little Pony: A Zephyr Heights Mystery, Nintendo Switch at $5.00. Went to another Target today and no clearance games to be found.

oh man I'd be dying to find Alan Wake 2 at that price. That and Stellar Blade have been at the top of my 'want' list since last year. There are still so many titles I haven't found on clearance yet (Pikman 1&2, Zelda, Metroid for cheap, Helldivers 2.)

Also, it's crazy how quickly this console cycle is coming to a close. Now is the time for $20 games. It's about to dry up in a hurry. Retail shelf space is morphing. NSW2 is going to push the other guys forward too.

Congrats on the find. That headset the reason that made me go from Target to Target on the hunt. I wound up buying them off Woot for $129.99 with $18 back in Honey credit, but I should have been more patient.

Thanks man. I'm hoping the sound quailty is a step up on the 700 Gen2s I picked up on clearance last year. They are decent, but sound like a mid quality mp3 stream. Battery life is good on those at least.

You try using the bass button ? sounds like a movie theater. I had the gen 2 max .

I've only found one gold mine and I went back after a few hours for it to be nuked

Still hunting for Metroid, FE, Link's awakening, and at this point any pokemon. I've given up on Xenoblade 3

Found the last Advance Wars in my area, after striking out at various locations for the past week. Just a month ago I remember seeing that game sitting on shelves.

Also picked up the warriors Fire Emblem game

I noticed targets weekly ad stopped advertising games entirely as of late .
They’re smaller and sparser but still show up to some extent (though I don’t think on a weekly basis). Over the past month or so, they’ve promoted AC: Shadows, Madden 25, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and a small number of games on sale. Lazily skimming through Bluesky posts with screenshots from the ads, it doesn’t look like gaming has had a full page in the past month, although the AC: Shadows “deals gamers love” section from a couple weeks ago came close.

But yeah, I think Target will be content to stock a small selection of evergreen hits and the big marquee titles that’ve just come out in fairly low quantities, but I can definitely imagine them stopping there.

was it Fire Emblem Warriors(OG game) or Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes?

That’s correct, it was Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes. Engage was there as well but did not ring up as marked down

Highly recommend using brickseek to generate scannable UPC barcodes, it makes checking for which of these is on sale a quick process at the kiosk. In my case Advance wars was behind the glass so that was the most convenient way to check its price first

The steady march to the end of physical game media (in stores) continues ...

PS5 discs and Switch carts will be available through online retailers but it's clear B&M inventory/selection is getting smaller and smaller.

Went to see my girl for the weekend who stays about an hour away in a big city and we looked at probably 7 or 8 Targets and couldn't find any clearance games worth getting. Aside from Advance Wars, Samba De Amigo and a few others this clearance seems to be the most YMMV shit ever.

Long shot. But anyone know of targets in Metro Detroit with these deals?
YMMV, but...
At the Canton on Michigan Ave, there are over a dozen Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes in aisle next to the video games for $59.99 each. Behind the PS5 games, there is a row of Switch titles that did not appear to have stickers. I asked for Super Mega Baseball 4. The in-store app said "See Team Member." I'm not sure if it prompted the employee for the price, but it was $6.00. I took some pictures, but they are pretty terrible. Titles included:

Switch:
Avatar thr Last Airbender: Quest for Balance
Cobra Kai 2
Demon Slayer-Kimetsu no Yaiba: The Hinokami Chronicles
Disney Illusion Island
DreamWorks Dragons: Legends of the Nine Realms
DreamWorks Trolls Remix Rescue
Everybody 1-2 Switch
Fae Farm
Fortnite: Anime Legends
Goosebumps: Dead of Night
Hotel Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged
My Universe - Pet Clinic: Cats & Dogs
New Pokémon Snap
Nick Jr. Party Adventure
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2
Party Arcade
Persona 5 Royal
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
Rabbids Party of Legends
Rune Factory 3
Samba De Amigo
Sea of Stars
Smurfs: Mission Vileaf
Sonic Origins Plus
Spongebob Krusty Cook-Off "Extra Krusty Edition"
Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova
Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life
Super Mega Baseball 4
WarioWare Move It!

PS
???

Xbox
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Skull & Bones
Star Wars: Jedi Survivor

These could all be on clearance. Or maybe none of them are. But if you interested in something and close enough to go there, it might be worth checking out.
