Do you have to deal with Origin to play if you get Battlefield 3 through Amazon digital?

EDIT: nvm I just found this in the listing "Requires Origin account for game activation and online play."
 
I know that these EA dl deals won't activate on Steam, but I bought BF Bad Company 2 on Steam, and I would like to get the Vietnam expansion - does anyone know if I can link them somehow? I mean, I would have to in order to even play the Vietnam stuff. I'm sure EA would hate for me to have to buy a second copy of the game just to play an expansion. *smirk*.

I wish Steam and EA would just agree to play nice... *sigh*.

When you buy BFBC2-Vietnam, you only get a cd key. Open you game on Steam, click on VIETNAM link on the main screen of the game, it will require a cd key. Paste your key and go go go.

Only way is to either buy the Vietnam expansion from Steam or, enter the cdkey from BF Bad Company 2 into Origin (the Steam key should work on Origin) and then proceed to buy the Vietnam expansion from amazon.com which should have a key that registers on Origin. The code from amazon.com doesn't register on Steam.

Cerberus sabotaged the PC version for the betterment of humanity. The Illusive Man made the call in that dreaded, hardly-spoken-of moment between cigarettes. They call this, "The Cranky Time."

Apparently, Cerberus did this so they could then replace the code with the code for another Call of Duty clone. "Humanity is better served playing more Call of Duty," is his exact quote on why. Therefore, he had to eliminate all other distractions. Rumor has it that it was The Illusive Man who secretly sent the Reapers the information that led to the downfall of the former-mining colony-turned-EA-moonbase (codenamed: Moonbase Gingrich in honor of its original founder) building a version of the latest Madden for PC, too.

When discussing this sabotage, one of the commandos attempting to track him down reportedly told him, "You can't expect everyone to play Call of Duty or its clones! That's insane! You're insane! We have to stand together and say in one voice, I will not go quietly into the Call of Duty clone without dedicated servers! I will not give up without a fight! I'm going to live on... I'm going to play other games! I might even play Mass Effect multiplayer!"

To which, The Illusive Man is said to have shook his head. Put out a cigarette with one hand while drawing another and lighting it with the other (for his ability to do this is unprecedented). Then his final quote was, "You just don't understand, Shepherd. Call of Duty isn't a choice. It's a requirement. Humanity cannot go five minutes without buying a Call of Duty-like game. I don't like making everyone buy into it. I don't want to do it. I just know the facts and the facts are that Call of Duty games are awesome. And their awesome is so absolute that I must have more people to curse out over the intarwebz. And in order to do that, I must have everyone playing. It's the way things are. The price-matching on the base game was more for others than myself.

But, you haven't had Dead Kel DLC @ 33% off.
Steam currently has it for that.

I've been waiting for Dead Kel DLC to hit price-drops.

It's okay - just let me know when Dead Kel DLC is going to be on sale for $5 or less from you guys, thanks....
 
Hey Tony, any thoughts on maybe carrying James Bond titles in the future? [I believe the current Bond license is with Activision].

Would love to see: Bond - Quantum of Solace, and Bond - Blood Stone as DD titles. :)
[also, I believe another Bond game is scheduled to be released in 2012 in anticipation of the new Bond movie - Skyfall].

Thanks man! Will give me time to finish BM2. And hopefully they can start selling those mega packs online. It would make sense because I assume they would have less costs involved selling online than shipping discs to stores.

KOA: Reckoning + DLC's from Amazon DVG requires and uses Origin ONLY, NOT Steam!

EDIT:
If you own KOA: Reckoning from Steam, you're likely going to stuck buying all your DLC for KOA:R from Steam.
EA Games DO NOT activate up on Steam.

Yes, I know.... lol. That's why I'm buying it on amazon. I'm not sure you've read my comment correctly, the reason I'm waiting for it to come down is because I want it on Origin on my PC and NOT steam, who currently have it cheaper.

Kind of a question for Tony, related to PCDD stuff.

I bought The Witcher 2 from Amazon Digital, and now that the "Enhanced Edition" is out, I was curious if my copy would get updated/patched to that version? I believe it's a free update on Steam so I'm really hoping it's the same for Amazon. Can anyone shed light on this for me?

I don't know if Amazon is going to get the new build on their site (since they have distribution issues with the Witcher 2 right now), but you should be able to go into your digital downloads page, copy the Witcher 2 key listed there and register it here:

http://www.gog.com/en/witcher2/backup/

You will then have a backup copy of Witcher 2 available to you on GOG and it will be the enhanced edition. You will be able to DL from them and play away.

i dl my Witcher 2 from Amazon Digital Download and i am able to update/patch it to Enhanced Edition... the update/patch size is around 10GB...

Tony, is there any news on being able to use Chase Amazon Visa/Discover points for DD Games? I have both cards and routinely rack up points, would be nice to be able to use them for games. I don't like to have to resort to buying boxed. :p

I've only played about 0,5h of it and thought it was pretty good, for the $5 it cost anyway, would rather play this then the latest CoD releases, but, then again I don't usually touch the MP, so...yeah.

You can but not until you accumulate $25 worth which can take a while unless you are making some big purchases. With the pay by points its just easier because if you have $2 or $6 worth of points sitting around you can use it right away.
