AMC's The Walking Dead - S3 2nd half starts 02/10/13 9PM ET

I like the idea that the Governor may be behind the sudden increase in walkers going to the prison and in the surrounding areas. It wouldn't surprise me that next week when they show Rick come back without Carol he tells everyone that the walkers got her and the guy that Rick gave his watch to is at the prison. That way Rick doesn't have to try to explain why he left her and doesn't have to deal with a pissed off Daryl that wants to go look for her, and everyone gets to see that the guy made it to the prison only to have him killed later on. The only ones I can see him telling is Hershel, only to see if what he did was the right thing, and Tyreese so he knows that Rick did something about the "murder" of Karen.

I think the Governor will be back near/at the end of this season. It might lead up to the start of next season or finish of this one, but I expect him to come back. I'm thinking he got with a group that is just as messed up if not more messed up than he is and they are now fallowing him. I'm thinking that Carol may somehow come back at this point in time and be the one to kill the Governor. At that point everyone will be wondering what is going on and Daryl and Tyreese will be ready to kill Rick. Both for different reasons. Daryl because he just found out that Rick left Carol on her own, and Tyreese because Rick didn't kill her like he let Tyreese thinks he did.

After that I think Daryl will want her back and she will choose not to stay and walk off. After she walks away I see it going one of two ways. The first being divisions in the groups Daryl along with others going with Carol, some leaving with Tyreese and others staying with Rick. It would't surprise me if Carl leaves with Carol. The other thing I can see happening is Daryl wanting to go with Carol and he stopping him and that she wants nothing more to do with the group. I still think Tyreese will leave on his on and that him or Carol will replace the Governor. Hell maybe even both.

I do expect the talking from Tyreese to stop not long after it starts once he sees Carol. Hell I could be wrong about all that I just typed and he could kill her on the spot and it be him that becomes the next Governor.

This is all being said without having read the comics. So I have no clue what happens to Carol or Tyreese at this point in the comics. I know the show is trying to do some things different than the comics so what ever happened to them in the comics may not happen in the show.

This is all a guess and sadly may be better than what really does happen in the show.

On a side note a friend of mine just showed me this the other day:

http://tv.yahoo.com/blogs/tv-news/george-romero-disses--the-walking-dead---calls-it-a--soap-opera--235315460.html
can picture the governor standing outside with a sign saying tons of people to at the prison just 15 miles this way :)

Given Stookey's self-admitted past of being a sole survivor in several groups, I can see him self-inflicting these attacks where he ends up being the sole survivor. In the comic,
he was originally from Woodbury and everything about the TV version matches (aside from being black) and the Woodbury connection
, so it's possible there may be a connection to the Governor that hasn't been revealed? Is he a mole sent by the Gov to be "found" by Daryl and company and he's the one feeding the walkers to draw them in?

Solid Herschel Snake made that otherwise shit episode.

Need some guile music for this man.

Not surprising that the episode focusing on Naked Snake aka big Boss ends up being the best episode of the season, sadly it looks like were about to go back to the looney tunes aka ricks group.

best LOL thought it was worse. lost how do we know it was his own pits. others could of made pits as well. next few weeks look lame as hell. This is why they need it on two nights so each night is with each camp. Now we have what 2 or 3 weeks of this before we go back to the prison Lame

I actually found last week's episode enjoyable. It was pretty suspenseful.

Good to know they are explaining what happened to the Governor. Why did he throw the soup outside of the window? He already was staying in the group's building so he was accepting their hospitality anyway.

And gunnm that's my favorite avatar of yours :)

yeah fuck interesting story telling lets just show zombies being killed in every episode and call it a day
i want to see them shopping at the mall too. Are those web things licenced or something. It would of been nice if they would included them on the DVD seasons as well.

and not really interesting when you have no freaking clue when in the story they are ..

So prison say jan and the last one was say march (just making up time now) so this new story line, when its it the same time this season started off or is it later

and woo real new groundba

Wow. I think this episode ranks up there as maybe my favorite episode (more than episode 1). I will have to go back and reevaluate later.

The only thing I wish was that he never goes back to the prison or gets involved with the groups again. Just should've ended it about 5 minutes before the end of the episode. I don't want to see another Woodbury or Governor rules society. As much as I loved the episode and his character, I think it would've been best for him to just disappear after this and end for him this way.

The problem is the show sometimes outdoes itself in casting...and characters are almost FORCED to stick around longer than originally intended. I think this argument easily applies to both Hershel and The Governor (possibly even Maggie). This is why a lot of people have speculated that they could merge two characters from the comic and basically turn The Governor into Negan.

For all the good he did in this episode, there is no way it ends for him like that. He's a sociopath. That's not just something you "get over". He also almost immediately latched on to the daughter. I'm sure it will take him all of 5 minutes to start thinking she's more "his" than Lily's.

Depending on which direction they take things and how "annoying" the two women become, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he just kidnapped the young girl. I can recognize that they're trying to humanize The Governor again, but no way he stops being the bad guy. He's just too damn good at it.

Oh I'm sure he will go back to his evil Governor ways, but it would be awesome that out of all the people in the show the one who gets a sort of happy ending would be the Governor as "Brian".

Sadly he will end up getting crazier. Keeping the daughter, doing bad things, taking over the camp, staring at the prison, etc. I just would've been very cool that after wandering around for months after losing everything and finally burning the picture of his family he moves on and just disappears.

so that guy was like you killed my brother thats cool I'll work with you
Yeah, a bit odd, but on the other hand, he knew his brother was only going to endanger the whole group. This guy also seems to relate better to the Gov than his own brother, too, kind of an "Us first, f*ck anyone else" survival attitude.

And why did I get the feeling that the governor is going to start a new "collection" in that lake?

All-in-all, decent episode and next week is going to be crazy.

Beginning of episode was good, but not a big fan of Woodbury 2.0

I didn't mind Martinez too much, because he was yelling about how he didn't want to be in charge. That at least looked like he wanted to change. Same thing with when tried to drive off. But then, once the jacket was back on.... it was all over. He is back to normal. Bleh

Also, the second I saw the tank I'm guessing it will end up like the comic.

I think that was his first time back to the prison. The scene when he first showed up this season is the exact scene where this episode ended with Rick and Carl outside together.

In the comic, there was the National Guard armory right next to Woodbury that had huge amounts of fuel
that they blew the shit out of after raiding it.

This show seriously needs an update of what's going on with the rest of the world..... isolation is getting a little bit boring.

I'm to the point of just watching to see how bad it gets.  The good episodes seem few and far between.  The best one so far has been the first one with the governor.  I really expected something different.  I was thinking maybe he was trying to change and blacked out when he did what he did.  Then he took over the camp.

I think he was trying to change, but old habits die hard....

The actor that plays Mitch has the most annoying voice ever. He was on The Black Donnellys and I hated him just as much then as I do now.

I'd be fine if the show never mentioned Rick again and was all Brian Heriot from here on out.

I think that might've been the best episode of the series. If not, it's at least top five, for me anyway. Huge gamechanger, and I'm glad that it looks like maybe we've seen the last of the prison.

HMMM

Now that was a good mid season cliff hanger.

It really proved how the manipulative the governor is.  Sad to see Hershel beheaded.  Honestly Micheon (sp) should have beheaded the bastard or left him to the walkers....

The prison is completely lost.....where to now?  DC?

I think that was Michonne's plan, but
the gov's girlfriend decided to finish him off instead.

The thing that bugged me the most was the baby. It happened in the book too, but why the hell did those kids just leave her there when they went to get guns? That's pretty fucked, and I'm sure will come around to have repercussions when a grieving Rick and Carl demand answers.

And I saw the Herschel getting Tyreese'd the moment he was taken captive. Shitty way to remove him from the roster, but a bit better than just getting shot and forgotten like in the book.

I hate to be a hater, but I kinda thought this finale sucked.

It was kind of like watching a new director's vision of last season's "meh" prison battle... this one being only a little more eventful. How is it we're in the apocalypse, and yet Governor can still raise two derp armies from the same local population? How did these morons survive this long? Why are the idiots blasting random holes into random walls with a random, antiquated tank (whch, somehow, happens to have ordinance?) - if the entire purpose of attacking the prison is to... have its walls for protection?

Losing Hershal sucks, but I also hated Dale dying, too. Maybe someone else will fill that void. Ole dudes from The Wire are both good actors, I could see either of them suddenly being the "moral center" for the group. Assuming the group reforms.

Basically how I felt. The only positive about this finale is that we'll finally get away from the prison after all this time. Which should have happened the first time. Hopefully February is better, because this half was lackluster.

Was it really clear though? Maybe somebody's bloody hands just picked up the baby. It's kind of hard because something like that wouldn't ever be shown on TV if what you said really happened. Plus some things are done differently from the comic and some are done the same. It was intentionally left vague.

Really sad episode. You get connected to some of the good guys and hate to see them go. But it makes the show all the better in its realism.

Do we need to put spoiler tags in our posts?

Yes that is what I thought too...someone picked up the baby... I thought it was ridiculous using the tank to blast holes in the prison. To take down that fence was stupid to because now the prison has been over run by walkers. The mega herd most likely heard that noise and are going there now.

yuck...to think Hershel's head is going to reanimate........

I went back and watched the end scene again and I don't know about the baby. There is practically a puddle of blood in that seat. The top buckle is undone, but those easily unsnap, and you really can't see if the bottom latch is undone. It is possible that someone got her out, but judging by the amount of blood in that seat, I'm not expecting any miracles. I'm chalking it up to another off-screen character snuff, just like Lori.

One of the most intense and brutal episodes in recent TV history...people still bitch. Yay internet.

As for

"Why are they destroying the prison if they want to take it?"...did you guys ever think The Governor was full of shit? As they pointed out on Talking Dead...he's basically been lying to himself this entire time and was just as maniacal and blood lusty as ever. Even if you believe he intended on talking them out, Rick's outright refusal basically pushed him over the edge. Sure, Rick offered to allow both groups to live there, but that was a deal breaker for The Governor and he wasn't going to listen to any of that.

Honestly, what made less sense to me was "We're not leaving...oh shit, they're shooting at us! Get on the bus!" I mean, I guess technically, Rick's group "won" (last man standing), but yeah, lots of people are dead and everything is wrecked. I guess in the end, you have to believe that both Rick and The Governor had the same mentality (ie. "If I can't have the prison, nobody can.") It may seem foolish, but battles have been waged for far dumber reasons than that.

Personally, I've thought this season has done an amazing job addressing the complaints people have had in the past about the show. There's been way more action, more tension, less pandering, better story, better character development...and yet people still aren't satisfied? I can't imagine what shows these folks actually enjoy because it just feels like you're setting the bar unrealistically high. It might not be perfect...but I'll be damned if it isn't entertaining. When a one hour episode feels like it goes by in 20 minutes, you know you're watching a good show.
