Here's a pic I found on Reddit. I wonder if this is just horrible timing as in Best Buy planned this ad roll before pre-orders overwhelmed them.
Ah i see now. I was looking at the website weekly ad. Ok so i will try my luck in store today then with that paper ad and see what they say. Meta Knight and Rosalina are the only ones in the next wave i have not reserved yet

never been confirmed by anyone, just people talking out of their a$$ and making asumptions. Nintendo doesn't even know what to do yet.

You really think they're jusy gonna let the scampers have all the money. It's been confirmed by Nintendo reps here in California from best buy and target. I got a few buddies that work they're. Everything's in high demand and I'm sure they're finishing off waves before going back and reprinting more. Don't be fooled shit like this happens all the time during the holidays. If you're down to buy rates at five times price go for it. Most are imports anyway but think about it. How are they still stocking imports for other country but not this one it makes no sense

amazon delivers on sundays now in some locations

They might not be stocking imports considering how the big 3 are now sold out in EU amazon sites. Keep in mind Nintendo loves favoring the EU for everything because fuck NA.

Nintendo reps in store have no clue what corporates plans are. They just tell you what they heard. No more knowledgeable than a gs employee, really. Last time i talked to one at best buy they couldnt answer a super simple question...how much hard drive space on the wiiu does the operating system use. I just laughed that off and googled my answer in 5 seconds on my phone as i walked away

So I decided t get some breakfast at Denny's this morning and when I was driving back to my place, I noticed the Michael's I've been wanting to stop at to see if they had a shadowbox with shelves for my Amiibos and decided to stop at the Toys R Us next door. I figured it was Sunday morning and they opened 20 minutes before, so I might have a chance at finding a Pit. No such luck, but as soon as I walked up to the Amiibo display, BAM! A lone Fox with a jacked up box like it fell on the stockroom floor and has been getting kicked around until it was noticed and move to the display. Before I even totally noticed it was even there, I looked down and it was already in my hand. Glad I decided to stop at TRU

[attachment=11102:fox amiibo.jpg]

With Wave 3 all pre-ordered and having found Fox, the last 3 I'm going to need to have a full set are Pit, Villager and Marth

Just went to best buy, the sales rep tried pre ordering but the computer won't let him, looks like the ad was just printed too early

Was at GS today and saw lots of TONS of Diddy Kong, Zelda and Luigi.

Also plenty of Samus, so I don't think she's in the danger zone, yet. I don't remember if I saw Fox. I don't think so.
I was at nearby Gamestop a couple days ago and they also had a pretty healthy selection of the ones you mentioned as well, although the Samus were relatively scarce compared to the rest, with only two.

There weren't any Fox, Mac, Pit, or CF though, unfortunately.

I don't know why that is considered a simple question...

I walked and in and asked, what's the height of the WiiU divided by the length, times 100, minus 10. They didn't even know that shit. The guy behind the counter just kept saying, "Sir, this is a gas station."

Does the Avg consumer give a damn how much the WiiU OS takes up?

Hell I don't even care, and never have for any of my systems. Least relevant thing ever.

You don't own a Wii U then since the basic version has so low free HD space that it can't even hold more than 1-2 games.

I don't know, maybe because you'd think the people who get paid to sell this stuff would know?
I work for a corrugated box manufacturer and have been in the business for 9 years... I couldn't even tell you the exact thickness of the different kinds of paper or answer "simple" questions regarding the sciences behind it.

Working in a specific field doesn't automatically mean you should know everything about it.

But I'm assuming your job doesn't involve those specs, there's probably at least one person there who's job it is to design this stuff and/or check product quality that will tell you because that's their job. Hence why its a safe bet that a video game sales rep at a store would know something about the specs of the consoles they're paid to try and push.

Lol hardly the least relevant thing ever unless you plan to never buy dlc or downloadable games. The average consumer doesn't visit sites like CAG...they just go into GS and ask them retarded questions and buy everything for MSRP. Just b/c the average consumer doesnt want to know it doesnt mean a Nintendo representative shouldnt know it.

Actually you'd be surprised at how little some salesman know, most of ours only know the bare essentials about the product - they're just there to get our name in the door and try to offer up why our boxes, service and quality are better than the competition. 99% of the customers don't know the minutiae about the industry, so they don't know to ask questions regarding silly little details. I don't expect Nintendo reps to be any different.

Besides, the average consumer wouldn't even be able to tell you what OS stand for or means.

Apparently Nintendo doesn't think it's a necessity, otherwise they would.

I've worked retail for over 10 years of my life in varies positions and companies, and you wouldn't believe the stupid questions people ask. You are also putting way to much credit on someone who works at a store in the "video game section" the employee could be filling in for someone else and normally work in a different section, or more likely just have no clue what you are taking about. Unless they are actually a hardcore video game enthusiast, big box stores give rudemantary training on products, and would never teach them how much space an OS on a Wii U takes up.

Hell I consider myself a hardcore gamer and I have no fucking clue either off the top of my head. That's why you google things and don't waste people's time who make $8.50 an hour who likely don't give 2 fucks about the job to begin with, or your dumb questions.

Having worked in retail, all I can say is just because you work somewhere, doesn't mean you care. I worked in a liquor store during HS/college and I knew enough about hard liquor and beer, but when it came to wine/champagne, I had no idea even though it was a significant part of our sales simply because I didn't personally like it nor was I paid enough to take a vested interest in it.

This.

Let's give this man/lady a round of applause! :)

Why didn't you just Google it to begin with?
They approached me on the floor to sell me on a console soon after they came out. I did not know if the 8 GB or 32 GB would fit my needs. I asked about the operating system and they had no idea. Again, I did not approach them...they approached me and brought up the subject. I didn't Google it to begin with since the WiiU wasn't even on my radar at that time

How did you work in a liquor store when you were in high school?

Precisely. That's why I asked the Nintendo rep about it because i thought digital content might tie up the HD space pretty quick if the operating system took up a lot. Again, they approached me to sell me on this. On was in Best Buy for some totally different reason and was not even considering a WiiU at the time because it was expensive and there were almost no games out at launch. I guess I should have research everything in a store before I enter in case a salesperson decides to talk to me about buying something I wasn't planning on

I remember there bring 25 GB memory left when I first powered on my Wii U. I may have downloaded a few VC games but not major ones.

I am now down to 2.2 GB and am thinking of investing into an external HDD. I think a 500 GB would be fine. I usually go with overkill though and may get the two TB.

I just laughed that off and googled my answer in 5 seconds on my phone as i walked away
In your original post, you came across like you were somehow superior. It doesn't matter who approached whom - reps don't have all the answers, whether you think they should or not. You sound like you were a real asshole in the store, and you look like a bigger asshole boasting about it here.

Well now we know but his question was pretty valid. Back when the Wii U came out, there was a lot of negative press because teh basic Wii U have an 8GB hard drive with the OS taking up more than half of that leading to angry situations where you couldn't even download a game

Best Buy AD for 1/4/15 Shows Meta Knight "Now Pre-ordering". Still OOS online, maybe some saved for in-store only reservations? Or did they just use Meta Knight as a default image to indicate that they are simply pre-ordering Amiibos.
What page is this Meta Knight picture on? Did not see it anywhere
Those ads are typically drawn up and planned out far ahead of time before the ad date - so I'm sure that BBY didn't anticipate that MK pre-orders would be as intense as they were when they put a picture in the ad.

You misunderstood obviously. Boasting? At what point did i ever brag about knowing more? i knew no more than they did. I thought it was funny in that they were the nintendo specialists a could not tell me which to buy based on my needs.

I was never nasty to them or condescending, i worked retail at one time too. But i assumed when someone tried to sell you on something they know could estimate which of just 2 models i would need.

Anyway my original point was i would not expect nintendo reps to be knowledgeable enough to know what corporates plans are for which they have been very mum

I would agree with this but was he not talking about a Nintendo rep and not just a video game best buy employee? I have only seen a nintendo rep in my area once or twice but it was my understanding that if Nintendo sends a company rep to a store to try and push product (and the one I saw was), then they should know quite a bit about their own products lol. I dont know exactly what their job is but regardless of what I am getting paid (even if I worked at a shitty place like GS), but I like to know as much as possible to better inform people. I understand this is hardly ever the case and I dont really get whoever posted it here the way they did but still...maybe I am under a different understanding of what a Nintendo rep actually is or does.

Apparently Nintendo doesn't think it's a necessity, otherwise they would.
Lol Nintendo doesnt even think keeping certain Amiibo in stock and actually manufactured for more than 1-2 weeks after release is necessary, nor do they even think its necessary to inform their customers 100% whether the said figures will EVER be available again. So I guess it makes sense that a Nintendo rep doesnt know much about their own product.

No it was not a best buy employee it was nintendo rep there for the day i guess. Ive seen sony reps at that best buy a couple times too

I think any reps Nintendo sends out regarding Amiibos just pose as a "face of Nintendo" to supply damage control for what a shitstorm these have been

then they should know there products that the point of a rep otherwise i guess it OK then for a Pharmaceutical Rep Selling Medicine and pills to be unknowledgeable about there products they sell doctors when usually doctors only know what the rep tells them about the medicine?

Why? Too lazy to search google? Don't you know they don't give a fuck?

I own the Deluxe. Had it since release.

Are we really comparing pharmaceutical reps to Nintendo reps? LOL.
In terms that they're both sales rep's meant to be information bases for relatively uneducated consumers? Yes. But this thread's getting insane now that we're hitting the lull before wave 3. Guess when we don't have retailers/nintendo to hate for not getting us our fix we get this
