BT files always start off excruatingly slow. The more you share, the more you could DL, which increases the speed. The more people dl through BT, the better. Your not downloading the whole file....your downloading bits and pieces of it. Don't be discouraged if it says days to dl....it may turn out to just be 1-2 full days, or even less, depending on the file size and how many people contribute.
 
Well, I got the file download finished this morning, and I have the game installed, I registered an account, it took no credit information, and I got into the game and created a character. Didn't have time to play much, since I had to leave for work right after that, but this deal is definitely legit. Get it while it's hot! :D

As far as servers go, It doesnt matter mutch which server you choose.
However, RK1 is generally more crowded and has a bit more lag in the larger cities. RK2 is a litte less laggy.
The german server is smooth and not laggy at all with no contention for hot spawns.

It use to be that RK1 had all the events on it and RK2 did not, but I dont think they do many special events with GMs anymore so server choice does not matter.
Also the economy on RK1 is a bit messed up since its been up longer and things will be more expensive on RK1 then RK2.

HOpe that helps some of you choose the server for you. This game is great and I pay for it gladly even though I also now play wow. Hope you guys enjoy it. It would suck to see it close down due to lack of players.

You guys might also want to download Clicksaver. Unlike most mmorpgs, AO lets you use SOME 3rd party programs to enhance the game.
CLicksaver allows you to easily spot the loot rewards you are looking for or location of mission FAAAAST.

Otherwise ou will be slowly clicking through mission by mission to search for the piece of armor or weapon all day. This allows you to do blitz rns and get major money making items to sell or finish your complete set of armor . If you want to make money people will tell you to get clicksaver.

what do you want to do?

use the web service to find the appropriate program

or

select the program from a list

Sounds like you don't have a BitTorrent client installed. Grab the original BitTorrent or BitTornado and try again.

Yes, I'm too lazy to go find a link to either one. Should pop up first thing in Google though.

I just finished right now. It took about 8 hours for me. But now I don't know how to register. I click on the register button in the game and it opens up IE but I get the no page thing. :\ Does anyone know how to find the key?

It started out slow like most people were saying, but it got higher and higher. I was still uploading more than I was d/ling, but only by 20 more MB. I left my computer on and went to play vid games so I didn't inturrupt the speeds.
 
I got this downloaded from both the torrent and the direct download zip and both give me the same error when I go to install. I go to run Setup.exe and it tells me to run Install.exe so when I run that it give me the Windows error saying Setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. This has been a big waste of time for me.
 
man the game dont work for me.....

I ran it, but then my monitor shut off but I could still hear sound from my speakers.

Im playing on my family computer, but I dont think it would work on my school computer coz that one has like some kinda athalon processor whereas the one Im on now is Pentium 4...

eh too bad whatever

EDIT: never mind it worked now...

but... I wanna go sleep now too. Ill take my time to play again maybe nex week :D
 
There were 2000+ seeders and 5000+ leechers when I got this. They're seeing the responce.

Because I decided to download it in 20 minutes using BT and not waiting in line, thanks.

I keep going through the patching process only to have it say I need a patch again and again. I cannot get it to actually play
 
Newb here! A friend told me to come here for info on the CC $5 games last weekend! I cleaned up with 30 for friends and family!!
Anyway, FREE is good, so I just downloaded AO. With DSL it took me exactly 4 hours, with an avg DL of 342K. Is that Cruddy, Decent or Great for standard DSL?
I've never played an MMORPG before, is there a good AO tips page somewhere? I am reading the AO Beginners Guide that comes with the game now. But I'm sure there's tons more tricks and hints as to choices you make in the game, right? Thanks and keep up the great site!
 
I don't understand why you guys don't like BitTorrent. I just started downloading Anarchy 20 minutes ago and right now it's downloading at 300kB/sec. I had to set the download speed cap in Azureus to 300kB/sec, otherwise the download would saturate my bandwidth and even surfing websites was noticeably slower.

Maybe you guys just don't have a port (default bittorrent: 6881) forwarded to your computer?

Amazing piece of technology, the more people that are downloading the file, the faster your download gets, no more Slashdot effect! (for specific files anyway).
 
Is there a FAQ page with all the important BitTorrent download and use info?? I'm sick of Kazaa for my files, they are all corrupted on there now!
Also, was downloading all the PATCHES needed for AO, there are a TON needed, I'm still going....*SIGH*
 
You can find the official BT homepage at bittorrent.com. They've got a FAQ that explains... well... some things, I guess.

As for clients so you can actually download stuff, I'm quite partial to Azureus. Multiple downloads in one window, bandwidth throttling, lots of in-depth info for each torrent you're downloading... it's awesome.

Also, it should be noted that you don't search for files with BT, like you do with Kazaa. You need to have a website that links to the files first, like the Anarchy Online site does for this.

Does eMule have tons of corrupt files like Kazaa? Does it have Spyware or Adware. Kazaalite worked well for a long time, but it's gone the way of WINMX now.
