Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

No biggy, i'll just go to BB tomorrow. Was looking forward to MA2:Lone Wolf and Twin Snakes for $10, but we can't all be winners. Guess I'll pick up a few Cras & Burn's, MLB 2005, MTX and a few others for cheap and free. Good Night and congrats to all that got their orders through.
 
just get there when they open and hope they have yet to pull orders
and you can get the stuff before they do
 
same problem. even lowered all my internet security levels and still nothings working. Growlanser was available when I initially started, about 15 minutes ago.

It's entirely possible they bulk-loaded $9.99 for all the items on the sale and they're manually adjusting items down to $4.99 & $0.99 as they should be. If that's the case, then they'll have it fixed later in the AM.

I was finally able to get through using Firefox. I went through and 'reconfirmed' (i.e., edit & submit) my credit card information and address in the account area, and then I was able to get an order through.

Got everything I wanted except Incredibles for Xbox.
 
Woot, I'm so glad I ordered my Ys and Growlanser in advance, since this weird cart glitch happened to me too.

That's the lesson to be learned: always buy your stuff early and price adjust it down later.

They still have Mech Assault 2, MK: Deception - KE, and Bard's Tale in stock for $9.99 each. The site seems to be working fine for me. I ordered all three of those plus Chessmaster, Starfighter, Midway Arcade 2, and Simpsons Road Rage for a friend of mine. Good luck.

I tried with Firefox, IE, and Mozilla. Initially everything with FFox was smooth, then the entire internet found out the prices were live, and it choked and died. IE let me add one game, once, but wouldn't let me check out with it. Mozilla was more or less useless.

I'm guessing it was as much luck as anything.

I thought they were $4.99 each.. hmm.. regardless, I have no credit card.

EDIT: Also wouldn't mind FF1&2 DoS and GTA on GBA.. wasting time between classes with FF1&2DOS would be nice..

That's a good point. I think I'll call them about the price adjustment later on in the day instead of this early in the morning once this seemingly odd price difference has been settled. Time to actually work on stuff now!

For some reason my cart supposedly contains 5 items, instead of 10. But if I click the link to get in the cart, of course I get nothing.

I still would love to know what's with these people who are getting in with no problem...
 
Well this bull shit and I'm off to bed. I was right on top of this as soon as they had everything dropped, I added absolutely everything i wanted and went to check out and it glitched, now i cant get anything because everything I added is out of stock. Thanks a ton to all the assholes who hoarded stuff.

I manged to get into cart by closing and reopenning firefox. IE didn't work for me either though, so I might have just been lucky.

(Once I got the cart again I didn't have any trouble browsing through the site, didn't lose cart again.)

It seems to be a bit of luck. Browser didn't make a difference. Nuking my caches and relaunching any browser didn't make a difference. It just randomly worked one session and I ran with it as fast as I could to push my order of a few games through.
