I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

I know for a fact that quite a lot of these games are at my BB, so I'm hoping I can get the ones I'd really want (the bolded games).

I wonder if that Eye Toy for $9.99 is THE actual Eye Toy and not a game.

So you lose on the 10% (perhaps YMMV depending on the CSR you get), shipping, and gas to get there. Still - not too bad for these games.
 
I have a friend at my local best buy and he said that it goes down monday. ( also used to work there and that is when we did this stuff just like the .01$ strat guides.
 
Sorry if this has already been asked, but are any of the $5 games (or $10 PS2 games) not POX at EB? I need some cheap games to trade in towards Zelda.

Whoops, I hadn't heard Twilight Princess was delayed until April. I guess I have time.

The newest POX list isn't available. So buy the games that arn't on the POX, and return them once we find out the new exclusion additions.

As a side note, don't get too excited about this sale. My store seemed exceptional in that we had seven SKUs on that list (a nearby store, whose inventory I also looked at just because I thought it feasible to go there, if they had, say, Y's or Otogi, only had three crap SKUs). It's not going to be like the Circuit clearances of yore.

Incidentally, my store will have one copy of Paper Mario remaining, after I purchase the other on Monday.

sounds good...i'll be at my best buy at 9:55am monday morning....ill than zoom to the next one (20 minutes away) and probably be there around 10:40am...i might even print out directions to the next one after that (15 minutes away), just in case i cant find my main wants from the first 2...these sales are ridiculous and i have about 20 wants from this sale

I may have to take my lunchbreak early as hell on Monday morning to get to this at 10 am. Too bad I can't buy on the website for in-store pickup to insure that the games are there when I finally arrive (at least from what I know)

I was in there two days ago, and I'm going tomorrow morning to scope the situation out (and to see if one of my former employees will set a couple games aside for me). They had quite a few of the games on the short list we have at the moment. If I didn't give punk ass AUM their tuition money this week (thus making me broke till Thursday), I'd pick up extras to send up there to you something. I know Auburn's selection is alot smaller there than here.

BTW, a ton of the games I searched for on the website showed up at the Auburn store - if this had happened LAST week I'd be taking a road trip over there on Monday. ;)

Last Time I knew the policy, if the price lowers between the time you place an order and the time you pick it up, they'll reduce it to the lower price.
 
CURSE school on Monday! I might go tommorow and buy the games I want, then get them price-changed sometime. Quick (Dumb) Question- If I buy them with a Debit Card, and get the price changed, will the difference be returned to my Card?
 
For any BB employees out there, information about this clearance can be found in the Sept. 10th edition of the Retail Insider, including a pdf of which of the clearance SKUs every store in the nation has. This would be your best bet for locating things that you want.

As for my store, I seem to be the only person who even noticed the clearance. I saved myself a copy of Paper Mario 2, and Blood Rayne 2, as a result. I doubt we'll throw them into a dump bin, or mark their clearance any way except by re-pricing their tags (which do print up with a small clearance icon, on their own).

that's cool. and i know about the GA tech. we played like shit today too, but we did improve. hopefully we see a steady improvement and up to full speed by the time USC come to town. that's going to be a good game.

i would check the BB in opelika, but i'm back in mississippi for grad school now and as everyone knows there is nothing in mississippi. so if you find some extra cash and can pick up paper mario and zoo keeper, i'd very appreciative!!
 
I might have missed it, but will the games be marked with the clearance price or will it be seen only at the register? My only concern is that if I buy on Sunday and go back after work on Monday that I will not see the price reduction to justify asking for a PM.

I am not sure whether to turn this into an EB trade in deal or Rhino since I think Paper Mario is good for the trade 2 for 1 new deal. Decisions decisions. :)

Please tell me Best Buy is going to put these prices online... all I want is Ys and Growlanser and not one store in a billion miles of me has it.

I know for a fact Circuit City has Ys though... it sucks that this is the only price drop that game has ever seen, and it sold like shit.

bestbuy's store availability thing is crap..... It states there are no Y's in my local bestbuy when I saw 3 yesterday.....

Ok ill respond to you. It all depends sometimes they give you cash but you can ask for it to be put back on your card but it might take a day or so to show up. If you wanna be safe have them run it as a credit. They almost never give cash for credit.
