CAGiversary!
I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.
Updated the OP with the sorted list. Thanks again to besmirched for posting and Nogib for sorting.
No problem.

So, I just ordered 4 for store pickup (thats all I could find), so if an earlier poster is correct the prices should be adjusted when I actually pick up the games on monday.

I have a question. When is the BB web site updated, and can I save a order to complete later, or even better order it, and ask for an online adjustment on monday ?

Wow very awesome. I only wish they were doing this online as well so I wouldnt have to drive all the way to my not so local Bestbuy.
For $5 sure go for it, no more than that though. I think it was alright it was considered terrible I believe because it was hyped up to be "Goldeneye 2" but it wasn't even close. But it was about as good as the other dissapointing EA Bond games so if you liked Agent Under Fire you'll like it fine.
I hated Rogue Agent with a passion, but loved Agent Under Fire even though it wasn't the best. I'd recommend Rogue Agent for $5, but nothing higher.
so...OP...you owe me a new pair of jeans...i just ruined this pair...
rofl, but I think I could use a new pair myself
That's a nice list of games. I just hope Gamespot.com doesn't do a story on this with the list like they did last year. And I know it will happen anway but I hope it stays off of FatWallet for as long as possible.
Yaeh, I agreed. ANybody check SD or Fatwallet to see if this is up ther already. I saw it on DVDTalk already. I bet this thing's probably spread like Wildfire already. I remember the Gamespot article from last year. Ruined everything for me. Missed out on so many games. One of my friends who is an ex-BB employee said that 5 little kiddie hoarders came in with the GS article/list and had him go through it all with him before he could hide some stuff for me and him.
skipping classes monday. Im going to go to best buy at 10am and run into the store screaming... if there is no games on sale at least it be a practice run for the day after thanksgiving : )
This is the absolute funniest thing I have read all thread, and believe I have just read the entire thread. My take on, and want list, to come soon so be on the look out.

I made a list of 20 or so games that I want but then checked them on the best buy website to see which were in stock, and not a single one was...

Do we know if this will be listed online or not? Pricematching or ordering may be my only hope of scoring these prices.

Also, if we do order it online for in-store pickup, are we sure that the prices will be changed by the time we pick them up?

Is this list confirmed? I've scimmed through the forum and seen multiple versions of the list, but no post states if this is set in stone.

Holy Crap! I practically crapped myself when I started really looking through the deals section and saw this thread. This is incredible. But damn the schedule of mine. I have classes from early in the morning till about 12. Crap, well I guess I'll just jet over there and pick through the leftovers if there will be any. Anybody know if we can just go tomorrow, pick up what we want, and get all of the games price adjusted? If we could then how could we go about doing this? I mean, I doubt this clearance sale will be advertised, so if we come in saying that we know the price has changed, they may not believe us and may not want to do it. I know that my BB sucks dick and would probably act this way.

The Ones in Bold are highly wanted and basically guaranteed to not be taken off. As is aparant, this list is still pretty big and excessive, so I'll definitely be toning it down, so maybe you guys can keep it an eye on the look out for these for me. I'm going to try to hit up the BB by me (those bastards) tomorrow and buy some for a PM on Monday or Wednesday. I know that quite a few of the ones I want are most likely not there, but who knows what they've been hiding in their backroom.

Damn, I'm gonna try to go right after school on Monday. I'd snag Mr Driller and Zoo Keeper at those prices if I didn't already have them. Hell I might get them again.
I made a list of 20 or so games that I want but then checked them on the best buy website to see which were in stock, and not a single one was...
I wouldn't count on that being accurate...I am pretty sure they have at least SOME of the games that I looked up at my local BB even though it said they didn't. They still have a pretty good stock of GBA games, and it said they had neither FF:1&2 nor LoZ:ALttP, and I'm pretty sure they have both.

I really don't want to miss out on PM:TTYD, but I can't decide whether to go with buying in advance, hiding, or just hoping that they are still there when I get out of school...
I suppose a combination of the hiding and hoping would probably be my best bet...

ah I love these game clearance sales, the threads that hit 500 posts and the people that will bitch they didn't find what they wanted. But that is a good list and I hope I ame able to pull something out of the sale.

I know that my BB sucks dick and would probably act this way.
This is a VERY good question. I'd love to hear from anyone who has some experience trying this. Price Match policies usually refer to "advertised prices," so I want to be sure about this before I start buying stuff full price. Heh, I recently lost a MicroCenter rebate on a lame technicality, so I'm paranoid about everything now. I suppose the worst that can happen is that I have to return a few things if they deny me, but I'd still like to know the likelihood that this pricematch would work.

Although, now that I think about it, this really SHOULD work. Because think about it - if someone does a return, they can just turn around and buy the item right back at the sale price. Obviously there will be one in stock, since they just returned a copy. In effect, this ends up being a price match. The only difference is that you need to keep the item sealed until you actually return it. By buying the item early, you are essentially "holding'" it for yourself.

Damn I think I just convinced myself to go ahead and try this later today.

crap! I will have to go early to get my stuff... hopefuly my friend works that day so I can just go to the register with a stack. He allows me to just get whatever I want as much as I want. This is going to be better than the green tag sale 90% of last year...as long as the 4.99 ps2 games come out as free.

anyone know when BB opens in the morning?

Thanks OP, and the people who made the list. I will try and hit up my BB on Monday morning when I get out of class.

Here are the games I am looking to get

Harvest Moon GC
Paper Mario GC
MGS Twin Snakes GC
Incredibles XB
Mechassault 2 LW XB
SW Jedi Academy XB
SW Starfighter XB
Ys The Ark of Nap.
Grownlanser
Silent Hill 4
Final Fantasy I & II
Mr. Driller

how would bestbuy go about refunding the difference if you order it online and its not instore on the day of the sale?

I totally just read that as happening from the 9th to the 12th, but that really says Monday from 9-12!!!!! GOD DAMN SWEET.

I assume that is AM, right...?

And after I just spent all weekend blowing cash on rare games, heh. =P

CUB - Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life $4.99
CUB - Megaman X Command Mission $4.99
GBA - Astro Boy $4.99
NDS - Mr. Driller: Drill Spirits $9.99
PS2 - Growlanser Generations $9.99
PS2 - Pinball Hall of Fame $.99
PS2 - Y's: The Ark of Napishtim $9.99
XBX - Catwoman $.99 (it's only 99 cents, might as well)
XBX - Colin Mcrae Rally 4 $4.99
XBX - Otogi 2 $9.99
XBX - Silent Hill 4 $4.99
XBX - The Bards Tale $4.99

These are the games that interest me. I'm looking to spend no more than $30+tax since most of these games aren't really going to be played much by me. Good thing I have no morning classes on Mon.

No, it means it's on Monday the 12th of September, not Monday from 9-12 AM.

WOW another huge clearance list!

I'm just gonna try to get what i wanna play through, unless some big profit trade items come to light.

XBX - The Bards Tale $4.99
XBX - Silent Hill 4 $4.99
XBX - Rainbow Six 3 Tom Clancy $4.99

All of them show as being in stock at my store when i do the check quanities thing.

Hrm. That's probably the answer I needed. I won't cry if I don't find it then. ;)
I just got my confirmation that my order is ready to be picked up....... I ordered Ys and will pick it up tomorrow(monday) and pricematch
are you certain they'll let you do that? my BB's are pretty much assholes about pricematching with their website...they swear that their site and b&m are two completely different stores
No, it means it's on Monday the 12th of September, not Monday from 9-12 AM.
AAAAAHHH 9/12 not 9 thru 12. Gotcha. ^_^ Thanks.

PS: Does anyone know if any non-gaming items might make the clearance as well, such as DVDs?

OK, I just posted this on FatWallet. Hopefully that will help us out.

....just kidding, didn't see it in the first 100 posts so that is good news.

Does anyone know if this is a nationwide Best Buy thing? Or is it just some stores? This would help me and others a lot if someone (ie. a Best Buy employee) could find this bit of info out. Thanks in advance!

We would be screwed beyond belief if that happened.
Since I have classes on Monday, I might drop by there today and pick up the stuff I want and pricematch on another day. However, I'm going to do some more research on that. I'm not sure how it would work to just buy them and say, "Your prices have lowered, can I get some money back?". Once I find out more, I'll probably post it.

It seems risky, but I don't see why a person couldn't RETURN a game with the receipt, then just buy it again at the current price. It's not a "price match" per se but it accomplishes the same thing.
