I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

Well, I ordered both Growlanser Generations and Ys off the website, with two day shipping... should get both games Wednesday (I assume the clearance sale is going on for a few days).

Total came to right at 100 bucks.. meaning if I get my 60 dollars difference back for both games, I'll be paying 20 per game, which is still a hell of a deal. I doubt Growlanser will ever get any cheaper, and I'm sick of waiting for a price drop on Ys.

Let's just hope the website comes through so I don't have to deal with B&M Best Buy. This way, if the website does drop price, I don't have to hurry and place an order at the same time 10000 other people are trying to do the same.

Worst comes to worst is that Best Buy won't price adjust or do a return / rebuy, and I just return both of them in store and get my 100 back, so I'm not really losing out on anything.

no what really sucks is that students get out at 12:30pm on Mondays..but us teachers are CONTRACTED to stay until 3pm..bah well I could always call to see if they have something in stock before i waste my time and pricey gas.

It is about 95% accurate... I wouldn't get your hopes up. It is alot more accurate than Gamestop's store locator, at least.

I checked a few games that I know my BB has, and they came up as unavailable.
 
I just checked my local BB, and the sale is set to go tomorrow. The lady at my store (Bay Shore, NY) was really nice about printing out the list, even though I had it already, and even gave me a listing of the games that are in stock. Fantastic, except..... there were 6 games, most notably Cabelas Big Hunt.

I'll try having some ordered in for a PM.
 
I'll believe it when I see it. This sounds too good to be true and it's not even april.

My Best Buy never has any of the good clearance deals anyway so I'm not expecting anything to change.

all the rpgs are gone at Best buy northcrest. i could of swear i saw that Y game over there friday... The gamecube section looks like its going out of business everything is gone

They're buying the games at regular price today, and they'll go back and price-match BB against themselves later in the week. I wouldn't try it myself, not with the track record of my Best Buy C/S attitudes....and besides, I'm a lone CAG here in Omaha, NE (and Council Bluffs, IA...10 minutes away from me).

Pre-hoard all you want, CAGs, just stay on the coasts :lol:
 
I have never gone to one of these at Best Buy...Do they already mark the games with the new price or should I print out a list?
 
I just called my local BB about pricematching BB.com, and she said yes to PMing, but the clearance only lasts for a week. I'm not sure I believe it, but its something to keep in mind if you're ordering online.

Sega Superstars doesn't come with the Eyetoy, that was a bundle only available in the UK. For $4.99 Sega Superstars is game-only.

The $9.99 Eyetoy is ONLY the Eyetoy itself (normally $30, not with the games, but in the accessories area on a peg now at most places)

For $15, the SS+Eyetoy is a great buy. I bought Anti-Grav, then after having it sit around for about 4 months, finally tried it...now I've got Sega Superstars and Groove (it was only $6.50 at TRU).

The CAG who said Eyetoy can't recognize just didn't have it set up properly. Not only is there a "low-light" setting, but you should also wear colors that won't blend you into the background. First time I tried it, I had my Apoptygma Berzerk - 7 T-shirt on, it has a HUGE face on it (see pic below), and the eyetoy was a bit wanky until I turned the shirt around...I guess having two faces isn't the best feature when playing eyetoy.

Otherwise 99% of the games on the list are not in existance at my stores.
 
Can some mod close this thread and start a "covert" thread in deal discussion? The last this we want is this list getting posted on gamespot like it did last year.

fuck it, it doesn't matter, my store has nothing worthwhile in stock anyhow.

Will BB price adjust online items, if they're not in-stock at my local store but were purchased online? All I'm looking to buy is Zoo Keeper and Mr. Driller.

Rocky for 99Cents? SURE! It's not even on the POX list, so you might be able to get +$5 at EB when you're done with it. Then again, POX hasn't been updated for over a month now, I'm wondering if that will ever happen.

Speaking of which, Narc isn't POX either; CAG io said he just got $7 (before +$5!) the other day for it. That'd be one to grab if you need extras for the EB deal.

Sadly, a lot of the games I wanted that said "In Stock" for my local stores just a few hours ago now all state they're sold out. I think I have some CAG lurkers in Cleveland. Oh well. I may try to get some games online if not check out several stores tomorrow morning.
 
ill grab all I want tommorow and skip my first class (probably shouldn't, but this deal will save me alot of money for both games and college)... just as long as my friend here on CAG dosn't jack all the copies of the games at my stores.

so... even if the games are not free, is it really worth it with the non POX games for the EB trade in? for some reason I get the feeling ROCKY is going to load up in EBs across the nation.

BTW, anyone from Youngstown, OH, the local store didn't have much as of today. I didn't see any $.99 titles and none of Y's or Growlanser. The only thing I saw was NBA Street 2 for the Cube.
