CAGiversary!
I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.
Excellent idea. If anyone has also received the Xbox games including Bard's Tale, Starfighter, MK:KE, and Chessmaster who ordered after 11:30pm EST on September 11th, if you could email me your BB.com order number, that would be appreciated. I'd like to let those SOBs know that they screwed up.

Incidentally, their Online Customer Service has yet to have gotten back to me about my order question. I'm going to give them a day or so since I asked them on Friday and they may be "off duty" over the weekend.
I decided to email them Friday as well about my order being "Inprocess" since early Monday morning. I heard from them Saturday morning and my order has since been "Completed"...although like most people I have yet to be billed for it.

Did you get any items or are they all "in process?" I only got one of 7 items.

I haven't received any of the 6 items yet. When I checked the BestBuy.com order status page Saturday afternoon the status was changed to "Complete" and I received a tracking number. Supposably all the items have shipped.

BTW: I placed my order around 1:40 am (Eastern Time) on Monday and I ordered the following games:

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (GBA)
Rocky (PS2)
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (GC)
Narc (PS2)
Rocky Legends (Xbox)
Silent Hill 4: The Room (Xbox)
The problem is that most, if not all, of the pages for the sale games have been pulled from the BB site because they are sold out. You could have gotten the pages the first day of the sale, but no more. There is no "official verification" other than that. But like I said, the prices are in the computer and seem to have rung up consistently at every Best Buy.

I went in yesterday and had NO problem doing price adjustments on the games I bought last Sunday (thus providing some more proof that the prices are in the system and still good). Didn't bother dragging all the games in either. I even found another receipt with a couple of PS2 Rocky's I bought for trade-in purposes. Got $8 back from that! Thanks Kerig for the tip about not needing the games!
this does seemingly confirm one suspicion i had, since i had thought the sale was in store only, apparently it was not? And alot of the complaints here are from the people that ordered online before they pulled alot of the re-priced games yeah? Obviously i'm checking somewhat late which is why the item is gone.

I assume if i went into the store and found a copy it would be at the right price, but is there a point when the prices will go back up? and at that time will they repost those games on the website? because if i cant find it in store i may buy it eventually anyway and it would be nice ot know if they only pulled alot of the games for now because the online store specifically got sold out.

Yes. The offer is/was online as well. And there are several of us who ordered the games before they went on sale and haven't received the games, while others who ordered after us have received their games, which is unfair to say the least.

Many of the items on the list on the very first page of this mega-thread were online as well, but not all. Otogi 2, for instance, was not available online, but is still on sale for $9.99. Some items, such as Rocky for PS2 are still online, while some items, though out of stock, are still viewable on the BB.com site. Just a handful of these still remain on the site.

Most items are no longer on the site and most likely will not since they were clearance items. If they put them back online I would be very surprised. I don't believe that the prices for similiar items found in stores would be going back up since it is a clearance price-cut.

Hope this helps clear up some questions you might have had.

Wow Best Buy really needs to fix their shipping. I received 1/2 of my order and the problem is with the bubble wrap mailer. My PSOne game has a broken case. Any idea on where you can get a CD case to replace the 4 cds in one case the Final fantasy VIII has?

its a clearance sale of the stock of games, but wont they ever restock them? you're saying they wont be restocking the titles ever then? I was just curious about that, although in the mean time i'll try and find them on sale at the stores, i figured when the clearance sale is over they'd get them back in stock at the normal price.

BTW, i'm mainly just looking for Viewtiful Joe, and FF:DOS (and maybe the legend of zelda GBA titles), i would think that once the clearance is over they would still carry these titles, but you're saying they wont?

I'm not a Best Buy employee, just a librarian, but I would pretty much guess that with three new game systems coming out within the next year, most stores will be clearancing out their older game system stock to make room for the newer game systems and catalogs and not replace old stock for old game systems. It's just as how nowadays we don't see too many full catalogs of PS1 games in stores today. I can't guarantee that they'll never ever in a million years ever get something back it, but I sort of doubt it. Your mileage may vary and many people are still finding deals at their Brick and Mortar BB stores. You may still luck out.

What part is broken - the front or back of the jewel case? If it's like a typical double-thick jewel case, I would think most office supply stores would have the case like Office Max or even Wal-Mart would have a replacement. I may even have one extra at work if you can't find one.

yeah but thats the bigger picture, this list wasnt very big and the games on it werent exactly all very old, that kind of clearance i'd imagine would be larger and have signifigantly older (and newer) games on it.

Well, the theory would be that if games aren't selling, they clearance those first. If they're still moving copies of older or newer games, no point in getting rid of them yet, there's still money to be made at full price. I'm guessing the bigger clearances will roll through once the 360 library grows a bit, or more likely when PS3 and Rev come out.

And it doesn't really appear that much of these games were left at all, so its probably also a matter of purging them from the system altogether.
well I just got my order of Mission Impossible 2 for PS2 and when I picked it up from the mail box I notice that its open and the contents are not there so I call BB and they say send us back what you recieved and we will give you a refund now I have to go to the post office and send it back what an hassle I hope I dont have to do this with my other orders cause that would suck btw anyone else have the same trouble or are my postman or BB all theives?
Same thing happened with my order for Pac Man World 1. The box was open when it arrived, in fact it looked as if it had never been sealed. There was a packing slip inside and that was it.

The only reason I haven't called BB about it yet is because of a possible screwup in my favor. The other two items on my order remain "InProcess," despite the fact that I received them in the mail two days ago. If by some chance they end up cancelling those orders (as of now my credit card has yet to be billed), then I'll just take the hit on the $0.99 PMW and be glad I got the other two games for free. I'm not counting on it but man I will laugh so hard if that happens... I mean a website just shipping games and forgetting about them, that is pretty bad!
I'm in St. Louis, MO, and their stuff shipped from Franklin Park, IL as well.

Plus, the stuff hasn't made it here, and it's 300 miles north of me.
Your package is in transit to the next processing hub. You can expect delivery within 3 to 7 business days.

oh yea, mk: dke's got this message:

The item listed below is not yet available to be shipped. We expect to ship it from our distribution center within the next 25 days.

My game shipped on the 14th and they said that I should receive it in one to three days. The USPS website has not updated the status of my package since it was shipped.

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper or shipping partner to expect your package for mailing. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.
has this sale ended yet?
its clearance so they prices are what they are at any best buy probably forever. online though.. the sale is pretty much dead.. you can run into a few slim pickings at B&M BBs though.

Official Backorder notification sent from BB for Silent Hill 4 (XBOX), Metal Gear Solid: TS (GC) and Mortal Kombat: Deception SE (XBOX). I don't ever expect to get these shipped withing the next 25 days as promised. But supposedly Spyro, Tron 2.0 and LOTR: Third Age (GBA) shipped.

How screwed up is their ordering process? I ordered Mortal Kombat: Deception, Silent Hill 4, and Tron 2.0.

I received Mortal Kombat but Silent Hill 4 and Tron 2.0 went backordered.

Obviously one of us placed an order before the other why the hell didn't one of us receive both games?

It's actually the edge of the middle so the front piece has no hinge to attach to. So I need a middle section that holds 2 discs in it. Not exactly a normal cd case.

Within minutes from Franklin Park, and they ship it from Pico Rivera, CA? :whistle2:s

Wow, that truly makes a lot of sense to me.

Well, I took late telphonic check of surrounding BB B&Ms and spoke to one sales rep who said that they did have a table set out of clearance video games, but that by Monday (Last Monday) all the 99 cent and $4.99 games were gone. They had some $9.99 games left, but I didn't feel like wasting the gas to get em. Oh well. Thanks again for the heads up. He who hesitates is lost!

Either:

A) They are very smart, have their act together and are trying not to P.O. everyone by partially filling orders (i.e. Three different games in stock, send 1 to each customer and hope they are happy they got something)

or

B) First come, first serve (I tend not to beleive this because I have seen that people who have ordered several hours before after me and are enjoying their games as we speak)

or

C) they are very dumb and don't know their Xbox from thier 3DO.

So I went to my Best Buy yesterday....was gonna pick up Astro Boy for GBA so I could trade it....And what happens. Theres a friggin fire in Best Buy. Everybody was evacuated, and I couldn't get inside(I came after it broke out). And the drive is like 20 minutes away, so I don't know when I'm going back, or if the stuff I wanted burst in flames. I guess its okay cus I didn't get hurt...but...this sucks.

It's a shame they wouldn't let you into the burning building :p

But I understand your frustration. If it makes you feel any better, there probably wasn't anything there in the first place.

To answer your questions:
A) They do partially fill orders, though their ability to do is a bit spotty.
B) It's not first come, first serve, since I know they're full of shit on that statement.
C) They're dumber than a box of rocks.

And I'd like to thank abilyk and kojubat for sending me their order numbers, they're in the hands of BB.com, where I await their answer to why my items didn't get shipped when I ordered them 10 & 12 hours ahead of other people who either have their items or the items have shipped, for both Growlanser & Ys. With those order numbers, I've proven that BB.com are a bunch of fucking liars with their "first in, first out" bullshit.

I'll wager $10 CAG dollars that you will get the typical form letter that contains 'We try to fill every order...blah, blah blah statement that ends with:

Anyone else not get any backorder emails yet? Mine are still "in process." I'm back at work now, so I most likely won't call them until Wednesday morning. This is just too weird. And, they haven't replied back to my Friday CS query or my Sunday night request to cancel one of the items off my order. BB does suck.

I went in a BB the other day and picked up 2 Freekstyles, a Dead to Rights, and a Scaler....all PS2, all free after coups. I had both types of coupons with me and asked for separate transactions. The PS2/PSP coupon didn't work on anything except Scaler. I said "forget the other three then" and the girl responded with "what about those other coupons, maybe they'll work." They did. I love good employees.

I would guess that they are doing A. But I don't think they are very smart. This is just going to piss a lot of people off since many people know how early their orders were placed and that the games were in stock then.

Sorry, BB rubs me the wrong way when they colossally screw up like this. :bomb:

I had one show up on Saturday, and the status of the item didn't change from the 12th onwards.

Yeah, that's the standard text of it. I've never had an item from BB.com ship once I saw one of those emails. Sonic 2 Battle for GBA, Resident Evil: Dead Aim, Wario Ware (GBA), just to name a few. I let one go for multiple months before I told them to fuck off.

And just so you know, they will try to reauthorize your credit card every so often when the order's kept alive, so anyone with a debit card needs to think how badly they want the items. Your money will be held aside while the auth is on your debit card, normally 7 days or something like that.

Found a GTA advance clearly marked on the shelf as usual. Anybody played it? I was really looking for FF but this seems a capable play for a few hours

Just wanted pipe in and mention that I am having some of the same problems that other CAG's that ordered early are also having.

I placed my order on Saturday the 10th, the status showed that my games shipped on the 11th from Illinois. That's the last update on there. Eight days later and the games are apparently "lost" ... Now I'm only hoping they show up in time for me to do my Price Adjustment in-store... which is 30 days, I guess.

funny, i just got the package today... minus mk: dke of course.

I'm not 100% positive, but online price matches have to be done over the phone and they have to be on the website currently. I know there's a mention of this in the mega-thread. Anyone have a quick link? What a minute - here's what I found:

What if I find a lower price at a Best Buy store or BestBuy.com?
If you find a lower price on BestBuy.com or at another Best Buy store either at the time of your purchase or within 30 days of your purchase (14 days for desktop computers, notebooks, monitors, printers, camcorders, digital cameras and radar detectors), we will refund you 100% of the difference. The extra 10% of the difference does not apply. (Web exclusive offers advertised on BestBuy.com are not eligible for price matches.)

It does look like it should work - provided that you did get the merchandise.

That's what I'm hoping, but like you said - I need to actually have the merchandise in hand when I walk into the Best Buy store.

Anybody know what happens if your order doesn't get delivered in the 3-7 day time frame?

My new dilema...shipped 9/16...

Package Tracking

Package 201097779613661XXXX was not found.

Shouldn't it be in the system by now?

Maybe... my last order from Overstock was pathetic like that. Took some three or four days just to notify the USPS, then another 3 days to actually ship, and three or four days to arrive.

I would think it would be. Even more weirdness.

Incidentally I got an email from BB/BizRate to tell them what I thought of BB.com. Of course, it said to reply after I had received the items I ordered. That may take awhile. ;)
