CAGiversary!
I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

It takes up to two days in order to appear in the USPS system.
That's what I'm hoping, but like you said - I need to actually have the merchandise in hand when I walk into the Best Buy store.

Anybody know what happens if your order doesn't get delivered in the 3-7 day time frame?
I'd call them and have them refund your shipping charges, since they didn't meet the delivery timeframe they've said it would take.

You won't be able to do much tracking. It's being handled by a USPS partner, so the USPS tracking info doesn't apply like normal. You might see some information when it arrives at the local sorting facility, assuming they took the time to scan it in, like they're supposed to do.

This is all I've had since the 13th from the USPS.com website:
Label/Receipt Number: XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XX
Status: Arrived Shipping Partner Facility

Your item arrived at a shipping partner facility at 7:54 am on September 13, 2005 in BOLINGBROOK, IL 60440. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.
My guess with it taking this long, it's going media mail, especially due to the weight of the item. So, it'll show up, get sorted, and eventually show up at my door, most likely fucked up beyond all recognition.

Holy #$%@. My BB.com status now says that all my items were shipped. Even Starfighter. Let's see if this is really the case. I'm really in shock that all my games might ship. They've been "In Process: Ships in 0-1 days" for well over a week.

Anyone else get their status changed like me? Of course, with my luck it's just a preparation for the items to finally go on backorder. ;)

It'll be another battle entirely to make sure that a) I actually receive all my items and b) that I get the price adjustment that I called about last Monday. We'll soon see...

If they show all items have shipped, then they've been boxed up, and shipped out the door.

If they show up in 3-7 days, intact or otherwise, that's a different matter entirely. Hopefully, they'll show up shortly and in one piece.

My Growlanser & Ys both show still BO'd. How shocking. :whistle2:s

I think it's ridiculous they are shipping media mail when they are charging $2 shipping a game. If someone ordered more than 5 games, that's $10+ in shipping. It makes it even worse when EB will ship a whole order Media Mail for $1.99.

Yes, I've told them that more than once. :bomb: Goes in one ear and out the other ear. Which is why I'm waiting to see what condition my games are in when they arrive, since I'm not being too hopeful.

Yeah, it is a rip-off. I think my games are being shipped via Media Mail, too with USPS.

fairlakes, va...media people gave the denial look "duhh..i haven't heard anything about that..." yet he knew prices reflected on line prices and that pages went down within a day or so of the start of the same...looks like employees cleaned that store out. Intresting tactic, conduct an unadvistised sale, then within 24 hrs of it start deleting the pages containing the sale prices related to the product so you can't print it out and price match with CC. This shall be known as the Best Buy Clearence Conspiracy of 2005 :(

Out of curiosity, I stopped by my local Brooklyn BB (the one that didn't have anything from the clearance out or if it was it wasn't marked) and I brought a PS2 copy of The Bard's Tale over to two young men in blue who were "working" (ie, talking to each other) and asked if they had it in their computer system for Xbox. Weirdly, they didn't have it listed at all. They did recommend that I try the BB.com site and I thanked them for their time while rolling my eyes at how if they only knew pretty much how futile that can be.

Btw, although my order is now listed as "completed," I haven't been billed yet for anything. We'll see what the grand total is hopefully in a few days and if they really did give me the price adjustment they promised they'd do.

Heh, or better yet, a price of $0.00.
Heh, or better yet, a price of $0.00.
Oh, I wish! I hope they won't fuck it up like some of the horror story orders that were posted and mail me an empty envelope. Nice job, bright boys.

Has anyone gotten their games and not been billed at all?

I got 2 emails about shipped items . . . both for Rocky . . . one ordered on the 12th and one on the 16th (when someone posted that it was in stock and I put in an order just for the heck of it).

Has anyone opened their Mech Assault 2 yet? I've notice that even though that it doesn't have the Limited Edition packaging, that it feels like it might be a Dual Amory Case inside. Maybe, that there's no LE version anyone and that all version now have the LE's content. Ebgames.com site says that the LE version was only available at launch of the game.

awkward, mine shipped on the 16th, but i never got any word of it through E-Mail, and the tracking number doesnt seem to work.

It usually took a few days before the tracking worked properly. Might have something to do with it being a weekend, but I'm not quite sure how the USPS works on the weekend. I didn't get a confirmation email until after the item had shipped (at least this happened for the only game I received). I expect a confirmation email on the other shipping items in a few days.

No, it doesn't. One disc only in the non LE.

The maps that were on the extra disc in the LE became free downloadable content for people that didn't buy the LE about 1 or 2 months after the game came out (both LE and non-LE have the exact same game disc inside them in the same fasion that they did the Jade Empire versions except there the extra class isn't downloadable). So if you have XBL, you're not missing anything game content wise between the two versions. The only thing you won't have is the videos on that extra LE disc. Not worth worrying about one bit.

Meh, their tracking is a joke. Two packages of mine aready came and the tracking number for those still don't even work. Worst shipping system ever.

I decided to hammer it to BB, after getting the email at the bottom of my quote, in response to my giving them crap over the "first-come, first-serve" bullshit they couldn't explain.

My dialogue below, their email at the bottom, my response at the top:
Serena,

That's the exact answer I expected to hear, an answer that isn't one.

According to the BestBuy.com order processing routine I was told by multiple
BestBuy.com reps, your ordering system operates in a first-come, first-serve
fashion. An order made earlier than another order would be fulfilled before
the second order.

No one at BestBuy.com has given a reasonable and logical answer to why two
orders, made 10 hours and 12 hours after I had made my order, were fulfilled
two days and five days after being placed. That would make your first-come,
first-serve order fulfillment process a bold-faced lie. My order should have
fulfilled before either one of those two other orders that I provided order
numbers for. There is no reason that these two orders should have fulfilled
before my order did, unless BestBuy.com either has a serious inventory control
issue or outright lies to its customers on its order fullfillment process.

I had requested a phone call for explanation of this issue, and it appears that
BestBuy.com reps are in the habit of lying to customers that request someone to
call them for explanation of issues, as this hasn't happened.

I doubt the remaining two items will ever be fulfilled from whatever company
BestBuy.com uses to fulfill its inventory shortages, even though the items are
available from other vendors selling the items. I also believe that the items
will never be fulfilled because BestBuy.com will never restock these items, as
they have done in the past by allowing orders to outstrip supply of product.
If the orders had been processed as BestBuy.com says they should be, I would
have my items and not be in this situation.

Due to this bait-and-switch operation about the BestBuy.com inventory
fulfillment process, I will be forced to refer the matter to the Better
Business Bureau, the Missouri Attorney General's office, as well as the Federal
Trade Commission for further investigation.
I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to please e-mail their stories to www.bestbuysux.org :D
And I'd like to take this opportunity to mention...

It's great to be back here... in the Best Buy Clearance Games topic! Bang bang!

I place my order around 1 am on the 12th all were in stock at the time. So far here is the results.

Received
GBA Tarzen Return of the Jungle
PS2 Y Ark of Napishtism (2 copies)

Shipped According to BB.com the 14th & 15th
PS2 Growlanser
PS2 Pinball Hall of Fame
XBOX Mortal Kombat CE

Everything else (3 games) was backordered even though it said in stock when I ordered.

Is it me or is the bestbuy shipping just plain ancient from packaging to the every item ships by itself.

Well, just got my Mortal Kombat and Silent Hill 4. The status on the webpage changed from "In process" (Nothing about being shipped) to "Complete", and I got a charge to my bank account. They were both in a kinda flimsy cardboard box, but everything was fine so I'm happy.

On a related note, Mortal Kombat is really neat. I shouldn't have put off getting it for as long as I did. I did my first fatality and squealed with delight. :p

well, even thought they dissapeared pretty quick from the website since they werent there when i checked, it doesnt seem like alot of people are looking for the zelda and FF:DOS, maybe they'll be at the Best Buy when i physically go and check this weekend.

Shrike,

Damn good repsonse - you are in exactly the same situation I am in. I can't get a BB rep on the phone who knows WTF they're talking about to save my life.

Shrike,

I love how the customer service people never answer your questions. What BS.

Maybe the Better Business Bureau will help?

I think you really need 60 minutes to do a story on how Best Buy does not fulfill it's orders correctly.

What did they say to you over the phone about your missing order?

hate to break it to you but you wont get any CS that will help you one bit. At least i didnt when my package from last years sale happen... im glad i used my other cc and not best buy cause they told me if a package is lost using a BB card ALLOW 30 days before reporting and then allow up to 6 months to get a credit back.

Go get 'em Shrike. Best Buy's website sucks when it comes to inventory and shipping. It's been terrible for a long time and I can think of no other website from a major retailer that is this incompetent.

Well this is odd. My order for BloodRayne 2 and Silent Hill 4 is finally listed as "Complete." It had remained "InProcess" for three days AFTER i received the items. HOWEVER, it still seems like I haven't been billed for those items. I don't even see a temporary authorization for the order on my online statement, which is very odd because I did have one before (it showed up as soon as I placed the original order). Is it possible they just forgot to bill me?

BTW, i may as well post my order times for the items I recieved.... more evidence for Shrike and anyone else that got burned:

Order 1, placed at 2:44 AM Eastern time, September 12th: Silent Hill 4 (XBX), BloodRayne 2 (XBX), PacMan World 1 (PS1)
Order 2, placed at 8:05 AM Eastern time, September 12th: Mechassault 2 "LE" (XBX)
Order 3, placed at 11:36 AM Eastern time, September 12th: Tron 2.0 Killer App (XBX)
Order 4, placed at 12:55 PM Eastern time, September 13th: Godzilla Save The Earth (XBX)

Every single item I ordered got shipped. If anyone placed orders for those items after I did, and you didn't get them, then give BB some hell!!!

Interesting. I would have thought they'd bill you once all the items shipped. So far I haven't been billed, too but right now my items are being shipped. Let us know if you get billed or if they forget about you.

I haven't noticed anyone mention it, but has anyone's Crash N Burn's shipped?

I'm tempted to just cancel, but I'm secretly hoping it'll show up at my door even though my order is still ''InProcess''

Silent Hill 4 was one of the most sought-after items in this sale, and it showed up at my house while it was still "InProcess." BTW, i may as well post my order times for the items I recieved.... more evidence for Shrike and anyone else that got burned:

Damn I ordered Tron 2.0 before you did and it has not shipped... fuck BB. I guess the lesson learned is to place an order for each game separately.

Just got off the phone with CS (again).

*side note* I love how they tell you that their "Research Team" will call you to discuss your order, but they never do. Somehow, whenever I hear about their "Reserach Team," I picture about 30 monkeys working in a smoky, dimly lit room...*/side note*

I tell the CS rep that my order, that shipped on the 11th, still hasn't arrived - I also inquire about the status of my price adjustment. She tells me, in broken English, that I will have to do my Price Adjustment in-store because they can't confirm the reduced prices at HQ. No shit - they are too inept to do it over the phone that I have to go in the store and do it myself. Whatever - If that's what they need me to do, then so be it.

So then I ask "Where TF is my order? It shipped 9 days ago..."

To which the CS rep replies "Oh well, it's probably lost, but we can't do anything about that until the 26th, 15 days after shipment - and even then a refund can take several months."

Furious, I reply, "What in the holy shaq-fu? I pay your company $300 bucks, I don't get dick, and you can take 3 months to refund my money?"

I was steaming.

Her reply? - "If you'd like, I can have our research team give you a call in the next three business days."
Shrike,

Damn good repsonse - you are in exactly the same situation I am in. I can't get a BB rep on the phone who knows WTF they're talking about to save my life.
I want new deals from EB. I want to buy great games for less!! Hahaha, just wanted to rant since this BB deal has gone on for a while now. :booty:
