CAGiversary!
I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

I went to my local best buy. Pasadena, CA and nothing I found was clearanced... They had a list and the games I requested and saw there were not the price this list shows.

The Urbz: Sims in the City (GBA) 9.99 opposed to 4.99
THUG (GC) 9.99 opposed to 4.99
Texas Hold'em (GBA) 14.99 opposed to 4.99

None of those were the stated 4.99, however I probably should have asked for the listed and looked at the other games.
I thought about going but after reading these posts, deicded not to. It's just not worth the time & effort to pick up a few sub-par games at $10 each.
Oh, c'mon, if you go then you could come back and tell us that your BB has nothing and that just about all the $4.99 games are really $9.99. Without everyone going to BB and reporting back, how are we going to make this one of the biggest threads for a mediocre sale ever?

And could someone please change the list in the OP to reflect the actual prices for these games? It's like we're BaitAndSwitchAssGamer around here. :)

Paper Mario 2 is far from sup-par, IMO.

I went to my BB found some of the games I wanted (Paper Mario, Eye toy) both were 49.99 and 29.99 respectively, I asked a associate about them or other games possibly being clearanced but they didn't know what I was talking about.

I went to my local BB in Houston, Tx and they did not have a single one. What was strange, though, was that all over the video game area they had these yellow plastic bins that said, "Ship to warehouse."

Should have scanned Paper Mario as it would have ringed up as $9.99.

I ordered FF Dawn of Souls on Sunday morning for 34.99, and chose store pickup. I called bestbuys number to ask about a price adjust and I could only understand a few words out of every sentence from the person I was talking to. From what I could understand, I won't be able to do a price adjust online since the item is out of stock, but she did say something about trying to do it at the store.

Anyone know what I should do? I am going to pick the game up tomorrow.

You should have had them ring them up. That's when the clearance prices take place. DUH! :p

I went to the Midland, MI store @ about 3:30pm. I work thirds, class from 4:30p-6:30p, work 7p-7a, got to bed at 8am last night, no fucking way I was getting 2 hours sleep, drive out to BB and back for $3 gas for games I might or might not get, sleep again for 3-4 hours, and go have a 16-hour day. Nope. 3pm was good enough for me. I'm fucking tired as it is.

I didn't have a list really, no printer at home, and in a hurry to leave forgot my written list at home. So I just went in checking tags and what games I KNEW I wanted.

Anyway at 3:30pm I got these at the Midland, MI store:

GBA - Shaman King (4-5 more copies there) - $4.99 - blind buy..GBA games don't get cheap

PS2 - Silent Hill 4 (dug through shelves extensively, found this one LONE copy) - $4.99
Xbox - Godzilla Save the Earth (I loved Melee on GC but sold it when in need of cash) - $9.99
Xbox - Bard's Tale (last copy I think, dug around a lot to find it) - $9.99
PS2 - Beyond Good and Evil - $9.99 - last copy, again, dug around a lot before finding it...I've been looking to get that for a while. Didn't use McD coupon, didn't want to push it, Best Buy is evil - should have used it, I guess.

Hit Saginaw, MI store after class @ 7pm. Not much of interest for me. Picked up the last copy of Viewtiful Joe for GC - $9.99 - wanted that for ages.

Other games I saw at the Midland store were copies of Rocky (prob go back for some of those for trade-in fodder). Actually my La Pucelle case was mangled from Walmart.com...so I could use a $.99 replacement case :D. Let's see...some of the GTA clone crime games and sports games (my eyes kind of glaze over those kinds of games). Put Chessmaster (XBox) back on the shelf to save $5. Tons of classic GBA - but not for $10. @ $5 I'm sold. I think I saw a copy or 2 of Bloodrayne 2 as well. Also saw a lot of copies of Mega Man Command 4 or whatever for $4.99...but didn't get them. Driv3r, Tak2 also for $4.99.

The Midland store had a grey cart out with the games stuffed in it marked $4.99-$14.99. I found other games mixed in the rest with the others, though (including SH4).

No Ys, Growlanser, Zelda, Harvest Moon, etc. Is there a BB trade thread going on, or are we just doing it here?

I see people looking for Silent Hill 4. I have PS2 version, willing to trade it or any one of the above games for Ys or Growlanser.

Funny...I got Texas Hold Em (GBA) for $4.99 at my BB.

Went to one in Normal, IL and it was lackluster to say the least. My friends and I came out with nothing for all they had was Bloodrayne 2 and Crash n' Burn.

Not even Dragonball Z: Buu's Fury, I thought for sure I'd walk out with at least that one. Ah well, I shouldn't be spending more money on video games for the month anyways.

whats even more funny is its 9.99 here even though i had a printed ad showing 4.99 they still refused to pm it

went to two BB in dallas and nothing!
i found viewtiful joe (cube) but it was regular price, so i just walked out

I don't know why anyone was excited about this sale. Best Buy didn't have most of this crap for months, and the games on the list are mostly awful.

I went yesterday, but did not find any of the titles I was looking for. I wonder if BB holds some of their clearance stock in the back and takes it out for the clearance?

XBOX - Cat Woman X2 (it was only .99 cents)
That doesn't make it right.

I think Zoo Keeper was only $4.99 at mine. But I can't remember now...

What I picked up:

BloodRayne 2 (PS2) $4.99 (w/McD Coupon)
Nicktoons Movin' $4.99 (w/McD Coupon)
Advance Wars 99Cents
Crash Nitro Cart (X-Box) 99Cents.

What I didn't touch (yet):

Narc (PS2 can be $4.99 w/McD Coupon) and X-Box
Mortal Kombat Collectors Edition (pink girl cover) X-box $9.99 (2 copies)
187 Ride or die: $49.99 :)
Some 2-packs (didn't bother to price check, I wouldn't even pay $2 for MC1)
Mega Man yadda yadda yadda X (GCN) $4.99
BloodRayne 2 (PS2) $9.99 (tons of copies at the location that won't take my McD!)

oh, These were the stores in Omaha, NE :)

Hey, if the redheaded guy I saw in Council Bluffs is reading this, PM me for future local-reference. (just look at my sig or avatar, if you saw that guy with glasses, it was me, you know, the ONLY other CAG in Omaha, NE or Council Bluffs, IA)

God damn do I hate their website. Ordered very early last night right after the prices went live and my status is this:

Growlanser Generations (In Process)
Ys: The Ark of Napishtim (In Process)
Star Wars Starfighter (Backordered)
Astro Boy: Omega Factor (Shipped)
Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls (Backordered)
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (In Process)
Resident Evil: Outbreak (Shipped)

How the fuck can things go to backordered status when they didn't go OOS until well after I placed my order? BB may hate "devil customers" but I hate those fuckers just as much right back for running such a piss-poor website and stores.

crap, I know I should have now but I didn't want to deal with it if it had rung up at 50 bucks, anyways Best Buy in Barboursville WV has it if someone around there is looking.

Wow! Advance Wars for $.99?! You got fucking lucky there, man!

I ran to the best buy on broadway right after my class ended at 10:45 and when i got there they had 1 copy of final fantasy dawn of souls. I was so happy since that was one of my main wants from the sale ^_^

If anyone has an extra Silent Hill 4 for ps2 they want to sell, send me a PM... I can't PM this one to Circuit City either because it's not on the damn website =/

Seriously...I ordered a Tron 2.0 at 4am Central time.. and it was still for sale at 10am this morning. My order now says back ordered... How is that possible? How can their inventory be this poor.

I thought about going to BB after work today, but decided the gas cost and traffic hassle was too much trouble for what might be a bare cupboard. Many pages ago someone said that this might pan out as the most overrated deal of the year. Having heard how fruitless the day was for so many people, I am starting to wonder if they were right.

Sure got great hype, though! :)
Go get that list now!

.... and it did. :) (That was back on page 1)

I went to the local BB here in Vacaville, CA around 11:00 am and spent 10 minutes trying to find the clearance games. I found a few games for $9.99 but nothing under that. None of the games I wanted off the list could be found. I asked one guy and he said the sale was only online. I complained elsewhere and nobody knew anything about a sale..Totally ruined my day.

For anyone in Jacksonville, FL:

The Regency Best Buy didn't have much of anything... a few single games. The Southside store had a fair amount of clearance games, already set out on special shelves, including about 15 copies of Final Fantasy I & II: DoS, however nothing else very noteworthy.

Any1 got a rainbow six?

Wow, so what's the word on there being so few clearance games available? I stopped at two Best Buys early this afternoon to only find a single copy of Final Fantasy I & II for GBA.
This thread's so ridiculous there's no chance anyone sane would try to keep track of it.
I have been keeping up with this thread. I have not been reading every post but I check this thread often. My copy of Mr. Driller shipped this afternoon.

I went to my Best Buy here in King of Prussia, PA. I noticed that the Magic the Gathering game for Xbox was $4.99 and nothing else, so I grabbed two games that were on the list, they were marked 9.99 with the placeholder and I took them up to the very delightful Melanie. Melanie was assisting another customer who was trying to find Gamecube games... on the counter was a list, I guess the internal memo that was sent around to the Best Buy stores, all quoting the $4.99 price. I asked Melanie if she would price check my games and she did, they came up $9.99 in store, then I asked if she could access the webpage, and she did, and on there they were $9.99 as well. "Hmm I said, I thought they were suppose to be $4.99, I guess they changed their mind." Melanie said, "Well if they are on this list, they are $4.99." I said, "oh, would I be able to get a price match?" and she said, "I'll see what I can do"

Over to the Customer Service we went, and I got a price match to an BB internal memo that was likely outdated at that time... moral? Don't give up on a deal until it's absolutely necessary. Before I got my price check I noticed a pile of Xbox games in the section, all of them were on the $4.99 list, about 6 in all. I guess the person grabbed them, checked the price and found out they were $9.99 and gave up on it. Unfortunately none of those were the ones I was looking for. Keep Trying! Good Luck
