Whats the best Square Enix or Square, or Enix game that is not a Final Fantasy game, because if i didnt put that in there, im pretty sure i would just get a bunch of Final Fantasy VII answers. Which I would really like to play, but dont feel like dropping $70.00 on it.

I really like Einhander, I would aslo like to pick this one up too, but its another cost issue, and im a poor college student.
Dragon Quest VIII
Since you're a poor college student, this is perfect for you. Great game that's a Greatest Hit.

Now you are talking about two diffrent comapnies and the fact that Enix own Sqaure now.

I am leaning towards Wonder Project J series vs the Secret Of Mana series.

Then again Ramonacing Saga series. The Saga series is like Final Fantasy but with that alive feeling.

Enix has so many games out there that people barely knows about.

Plus, it's readily available for less than twenty bucks. It'll take you some serious hours to complete though.

Yeah, im working on Kindom Hearts right now, then i'll probably want to play Kingdom Hearts 2. I'm also looking at purshasing Final Fantasy X and then X-2. Also played a demo for FFVIII back when i still played my ps1 and I loved it, so i will probably look to pick that one up, before a ridiculous price hike on that one too.
I was waiting for someone to say this one, it took longer than i thought.
I am also shocked it wasn't already listed. Do yourself a favor if you want to play it don't play the PS version. I bought the PS version on day one and took it back on day two because of the inexcusable load times.

But the load times are a lot cheaper. $60.00 complete for no load times or $10 complete for two games with load times. Once again, the poor college student is going to take the latter of the two. And also because i still have not gotten around to purchasing my snes.

I'll second Chrono Trigger. In fact, Chrono Trigger is the single greatest Sqaure/Square-Enix game ever. Nothing comes close to the RPG-orgasm that is Chrono Trigger.

It sounds like it would be ok on paper, but then you start playing it. If you don't want to pay for the SNES version don't play CT yet then. *or play it with ZSNES and buy a PSX usb adapter (SNES USB adapters are pricey)* Yes the PSX version is that bad.

They got good prices.

i have a recoil usb controller that is pretty much a PS2 controller without rumble, i play a lot of games with that. And sometimes i use my roomates 360 controller

Obviously the correct answer is Einhander, you clods.

It's a fine looking title moving at a brisk 60FPS. It has a rather dandy techno soundtrack and clear voices.

I enjoy the weapons system in which you just have to pick up the toys that the enemies leave behind. There's even secret weapons that you can get if you do things right.

Branching levels are a nice touch. Has a great scoring system in which you get kudos for systematically taking apart the bosses. Do well enough and you get access to fun bonus ships! Oh did I mention you have multiple ships to choose from, too? Yeah, it's hot!

I hope Project Sylph (X360) actually has a chance to arrive in the US. I will import this if not! It's made by the same guys behind Einhander!
Easily Xenogears.
how much should i pay for a copy of xenogears, because theres one on ebay right now for under $20 (non GH) and then one right under it is like $41? So what is the price that i shoudl be willing to play for this game that you all love?

I don't know how much it's worth now, I still have my original release copy from launch day.

This topic would actually be harder if you asked "Worst Square Enix game that's not a Final Fantasy game". I'll say Grandia 3, a game that completely flies in the face of Square Enix's philosophy of creating RPG's with painfully dull battle systems.
Chrono Trigger.
I hope to see a sequel, or at the very least a remake on either the DS or XBLA in the future.
What was Chrono Cross if it wasnt a sequal? I'm not being sarcastic either, i have never either. So im just wondering. I had always thought it was the sequal.

Unlimited Saga. Pretty much the whole Saga franchise.

I'd say it's well worth $20, but I never sold mine, so I have no idea what it typically fetches on eBay. It really ebbs and flows, I think.

For under $20 you can't go wrong. Unless the discs are all fucked up and the game has no case.
Wait, I thought the question was in regards to Square Enix games, as in, games put out after the merger?
sorry i'll edit the title, in op i specified that it can be from either companies before the merger too

Yeah it was but it wasn't nearly as good as Chrono Trigger (though it had a better soundtrack). What I want is a third Chrono game that's more like Tigger then Cross.

alright, gotcha

Chrono Trigger is the best. Xenogears is amazing, but has some serious pacing issues - disk one is painfully slow, and disk 2 is ridiculously fast.

You should be able to find it for under $20, ever since the reprint they've sold for cheap.

I second Vagrant Story, Xenogears and Chrono Trigger. Also, try Threads of Fate (underrated if you ask me) and Parasite Eve.

If you are into the FullMetal Alchemist anime, give the PS2 RPGs a try.

alright, sounds good, i wont bid on any expensive ones then.

now i just have to hope for a FFVII reprint

Chrono Cross was very good. I liked the fact you could choose to enter battles. Square's Vagrant Story was was very good. I loved the combat system and the armor and weapon system was different.
Finally, some more love for the Wanzers.

I haven't played any FMs since the original - do they continue with the same plotline?
Two and three take place in the same universe, but they're all distant sequels (Two is 15 years later, three is 10 years after 2). Not sure about the fourth and fifth.
