How are you sure the answer is no?

have you ever tried?

Have you ever seen anyone get denied?

stores may know the ads get leaked, but the point is there not suppose to be leaked, so how could they really stop that?

Best buy is suppose to have one of the best price reinburstment things. so why not.

Show me somewhere that says you absolutely can not do it

Woah, Kohl's sell video games? Just heard a Kohl's radio ad saying that their return/refund policy trumps all the other retailers. Basically, no refund due date for items if you have a recipt; without a receipt, you get store credit. I assumed this was for clothing, but I didn't know Kohl's sell video games too...
So since were' getting these ads early.. would we be able to just buy the item like Wednesday, then just go in with the receipt on Friday morning (not at 4 a.m.) and just get the price match price for it
I used to work in retail and to prevent people from doing this, the merchandise would be slightly different (like the model number will be one number higher). Then when people tried to come back later, we would say I am sorry you bought the 12345 model, this is the 12346.

I remember Kohl's (or some clothing store) always marks up prices on video games. Let's hope the prices are in check this time.

Depends on the store. Most ads last year had some fine print that said you couldn't buy earlier and price match the doorbusters and I think Best Buy was one of them. The other sales that go on all day Friday and Saturday are your best bet for price matching.

hmm the ones that are all day are usually the ones u can catch without going early

well unlike last year this year i can read the fine print.

but what if u got in during the door buster hours?

He's sure it's no because like many of us, he has been to Black Friday before as a CAG. Many stores intentionally pull product in advance preventing you from even buying it and post policies that prevent price matching during BF sales. The only store that I know of that is kinda flexible about their policies is Walmart, but I have yet to find any great video game deals there on BF. Usually, the only good video game deals outside of Amazon are at Best Buy (well Circuit City had a few, but they are gone) and they have well established policies to prevent what you are talking about. So yes, people have tried and been shut down.

it was tempting. but sometimes, you just can't wait. :bomb:

I need some tips as this will be my first big BF/Xmas shopping event since I finally have a legit job and line of credit. There are many electronics on my wishlist, including a ps3 (and as many games as financially possible), a laptop, digital photo frame, and an hdtv (preferably between 40 and 55" full 1080p and a decent refresh rate). My problem is I have no idea which store I should camp at, or if i should bank on Amazon owning the competition. I wanted the deciding factor to be the financing options. In that facet, I think BB has 'em beat w/ the 12 month or 36 month no interest offers. I really wanted to shop Amazon, esp w/ all the hype about last year, but I've yet to get my creditcard there and their no interest financing option is on totals over a certain amount with atleast one eligible item. My main ? is will one of the items on my mini-wishlist be a no interest financing option? Also if anyone has recommendations of the store w/ no interst financing that which is most likely to have a ps3 bundle/deal it'd be greatly appreciated. So far its between sears, kmart, walmart, best buy, and obv. amazon. Thank you

Good thinking, but you can't do this anymore... I know that some stores disable return/exchange on Black Friday. If you want to do that, you have to come on another day. They shut down the system for return/exchange just to block "unfair" advantages to those who know the ads ahead of time.

Kudos to you, but i'm a bit bothered by your LINE OF CREDIT. If you're looking to pay off the bill before any financial charges kick in, then yeah, i think you're one hell of a smart shopper.

From your wish list, it seems you're getting a lot of big ticket items... Make sure you can pay all of them off. I know i'm sounding like a credit police, but i hate to see people get carried away with deals w/o realizing they can't really afford them. If you know you're going to end up paying finance charges on credit card purchases, then you should accept the hard cold fact that there are no deals for you, not on BF, not ever...

I'm trying to prepare my cash for my first BF shopping event as well. I only needed three accessories and five cool and awesome games for my 360.

Hey, i don't see Old Navy's buy $20 worth of stuff and get Lego Rockband free (all systems). The thread for that has been closed... I thought it got merged here, no?

Def words of wisdom. thanks for lookin out. Im pretty good at stayin within budget and have most of my savings in order to pay it off immediately (most of this is in the interest of building credit and being able to grab the laptop, tv, and ps3 in one go, w/o waitin for my paycheck on Dec 1st. (thank god my mom still puts me up at home, prolly the main reason she deserves a great xmas I'm not always the easiest dude to live w/) :bomb:

That's all I got, seriously. Slow day. Prices haven't been completely finalized. Will post more once I get the rest of the info.

Not that I've heard. I was going to be on a similar search but I held off the $100 xbox arcade. Figured after the harddrive, extra controller, and live membership the ps3 was just the way to go. Sadly im very new to this site and the anti-retail universe but I'd say your best bets are the frigid ques of BB and walmart. just gotta be patient on the ads i guess. Dont stores know how hard holiday scheduling can be?

^Thanks. I'll keep an eye on some early BF ads from Wal-Mart and BB. Can't wait to get some good deals on a 60GB Live Starter Pack, a 4000MS Points Card, and a 12-Month Gold Subscription card each. ^_^ Must....have....online multiplayer.....DLC madness for a year.

That's ridiculous. Bestbuy has it right now for $25 on clearance.

do stores open early for these sales since I noticed on the k-mart ad for Saturday about sales being between the hours of 7 am to noon.. but when I looked up store hours k-mart don't even open till 8 am at the one near me.

Bestbuy? Wow!

That's even cheaper even with my Target discount!

I think usually their ad will say "4:00am Doorbusters!" or something like that. Their normal store hours shouldn't apply on BF.

If you're looking to build credit, don't get store cards. Don't do financing deals. Try to get a rewards card, get the 1-2% cash back, and pay off the balance each month. And Don't Buy Stuff You Can't Afford. Win. You can probably afford to not have a huge emergency fund since you live at home, but in times like these it's never a bad idea to have that savings instead of blowing your paycheck in its entirety every pay period, or worse, spending your paycheck before you even have it.

Last year I went early to Target and Best Buy, only to come home and see that everything had been matched by Amazon. If I see a ridiculous deal on a bedroom-size (32"-42") plasma, I'll wait in line. Otherwise I'm buying from bed.

Don't just count on black friday sales. Check all the ads all the time. Everyweek. Sign up for newsletters for sales ( I have signed up for newegg, circuit city, and a few other online only sites ).

Why I say don't count just on black friday is that a lot of places are having sales early. There are pricing wars going on. So many things might be cheaper now than on black friday.
Also be aware that on black friday or for any door buster even- stores have only a small limited stock. It is just a gimmick to get people to their stores. There is no way to predict if you will get the item.

So my main tips: If you see a great deal, don't pass it up. BUT be sure to shop at a place that will allow a refund in price difference or return of the item- should the item go on sale cheaper. Always make sure you ask some kind of management if you will be able to return the item or better yet get money back if the item goes on sale.
You would probably get shot if someone saw you doing that, knowing BF crowds.
LOL i was thinking that, but i was also I would shoot myself if i saw someone come and do that and I didn't think about it.

I know its far fetched but worth a try, I actually have a few strings in best buy and Sears.

btw, im not so much looking for a Video game to do this with, more so with a TV

To be honest its pointless to me to go black friday shopping unless your getting either Toys for kids, or high dollar stuff like TVs.

other than that most deals you can find an a good selection of weeks. or when they put it in clearance the next month

I work at Toys R Us and today I was handed a letter to pull to the side 12 xbox carriers, 12 xbox arcades and 12 Marvel Ultimate Alliances (360). I was told it was for the Black Friday ad so I assume its going to be a bundle pack.

It was reported some pages back that TRU will have the following XB360 bundle:
And the xbox 360 arcade is being bundled with marvel ultimate alliance 2, Namco Museum, and pop cap arcade, oh plus a xbox 360 carrying case for 229.95
Thanks for the confirmation, but Walmart's Pre-Black Friday sale on the 360 still takes the cake.

I have a question: When does amazon usually present the black friday deals?

Sorry for the dumb question, but I never participated in a black friday event before.
