It doesn't always, so don't count on that method-- if it's a normal price drop, or part of a "black Friday" special page, it will drop, but if it's a lightning deal it WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY DROP -- you have to click on the "Add to cart" button from the lightning deal page to get the item+discount together.

(you can check this out at any time by looking for a lightning deal from the Gold Box page, but then view the product page and try to add it-- you won't get the discount)

If it's like last year, good deals will be had at Amazon from Thanksgiving day itself, through the weekend. Some will go live on Turkey Day, some on Black Friday and some over the weekend.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Sony still has the "fats" at $299 and $399 even though the 250gb is out. They also have not released any "new game" bundles in the states like they have everywhere else (just the "choose one old game" and/or accessories option at WM online).

I was really hoping that Target would have a few good deals to ensure Amazon coming out with their own great deals again. However, the ads this year are below average and I have little hope for the Wal-Mart, TRU and BBY ads after seeing the average-at-best deals we have seen so far.

I agree with you... but some of those games are from late september or october, they aren't all that new now. the only decent deal i see is for left 4 dead 2 which is $39 at kmart, but other than that most of the games that have been in the featured ads aren't really that great of deal. i mean $59 for assassins creed w/ $10 gc is a horrible deal considering it's black friday we're talking about.

That and the white FF XIII and Tekken 6 bundles. J7 is correct. You get better value from buying them at Costco during the holidays. Problem is, I don't think Sony has any plans on releasing any "worthwhile" bundles this holiday season (word would of been leaked by now) for the U.S.

Like they did with the PS3 120gb (then came out with the 250), they'll wait until you've already bought the game and release those bundles next year. They really know how to screw us Americans without making it look obvious

Some of the movie prices are really good, and great prices on new releases are going to draw me into the store. Unless Amazon comes up and beats these prices, I'm definitely going to go check out BB this year.
