Uh-oh. I just saw an ad for Old Navy, and guess what the big "this is free so you better come here" thing is? On a side note, they showed the game boxes, and it's the game, not a demo or anything.

This. I also abandoned my 360 after it died midway through Fable II. Unless it's exclusive and I can't get it on PC, it's PS3 all the way. I'll never allow myself to be put in that position again, ever.

Well I don't go online much but I don't ever encounter bad server issues. So not sure what you are talking about. Most of the PS3 games don't have lag and operate fine. Where the XBOX live is better is features such as party chat/ Cross Game Chat and in game music. These are nice features to have when trying to hook up online with your friends but isn't a big deal for me since I don't play on it that much. Now I agree Live is overall better but PSN is fine for basic online gaming and I don't ever encounter any issues with it.

I think going with and XBOX is fine if online is basically what you want to do or the exclusives appeal to you. I just find the PS3 exclusives more to my liking an the mulitplat differences are too minor to get them on one platform over the other. I think the clicker for me is reliability and I prefer the PS3 because of this. I just rather have a system I can play whenever than one I have to be scared to play and send it for repair all the time even it is covered. I think the differences in controls is minor also as the PS3 has a better dpad while the xbox has better bottom triggers. Really it is all about preference between these two machines.

I think either one is fine though and the PS3 is a great addition to anyone's entertainment collection.

For real, Amazon is our last hope for PC deals. I'm in the same boat for L4D2; won't buy it unless it's an amazing deal.
 
I have both the Xbox and the PS3. A year ago I probably would have gone with the Xbox but not anymore. Since the PS3 price drop plus the games that have come out for it in that time, the PS3 is a much better value imo. I got one in July and have barely touched my Xbox since then.

Anyway if you're huge into playing online, get an Xbox. Just be ready to pay for the service + the wifi if you need it.

For anything other than that, get a PS3. You get free online play (which is not as good as Xbox, but it still is not bad), A blu ray player, you can easily swap out the hard drive if you need more space, and most importantly to me...better/more exclusive games.

On a serious note, M$ should be offering the best service since you're all paying for it. That line of scrimmage is slowly becoming blurred with all the improvements to PSN, though. I generally don't play PS3 games online, so it was the best console of choice for me. That and I've never had a console actually die on me until just one year with a 360. That's piss poor.

Since I don't have a Game Crazy, the only remotely good deals for me that are possibly worth getting up for are the $7 and $10 mystery games at Wal-Mart. I'm hoping maybe a WM insider can get us a list before Friday comes along. I want to get Lock's Quest, but if that's the only thing there, I'm just going to stick with Amazon this year.

Also, is the $7 Rock Band Unplugged at Target a typo? On Blackfriday.info, the ad lists Rock Band PS3 for $7, but not Unplugged.
 
Rock Band PS3 for $7 sounds to low to be honest, but Unplugged sounds sort of reasonable. But, then again the PSP bundle for Unplugged is $199... So... I don't know really.

And what does my games have anything to do with? I play what I like. You say it like you are all the knowing god of gaming. I said in IMO. Which means in my opinion (sp) if you didn't know. I have never like the PS3 online service, and feel that Live is much better. Amazing how the PS3 COD4 servers crashed at around 250,000...while the 360 ones, while they did run a little sluggish when matchmaking, had no problem with lag or getting into a game.

While your talking about my games. Why not talk about Borderlands, and all the arcade games that's on my list. My top 3 recent games are MW2,COD4,Borderlands, and Halo... What does that have to do with what I stated? besides nothing. Don't try and make what I say sound like a fanboy statement.

You are correct, Beatles won't be part of the sale. The picture shows every rockband game except Beatles and in small print it says selected rockband titles.

If you look at the ad (http://bfads.net/Rock-Band-Playstation-2-at-Target), you can clearly tell its unplugged. Bfads.net is listing it as PS2 tho...

oh okay, cuz i did post it, i was just hoping to see it on the first page, i own a play n trade franchise and i was hoping to get some visibillity, i know nationally we aren't having the greatest sales...but each individual store is doiing their own thing, at my store in PA i am doing buy 1 get 1 free on all ps2, gamecube, ds, xbox, psp, psx, and retro, and b2g1 on all ps3, wii, 360 etc, just tring to get some visibillity...its a tough economy for new businesses

I don't think we should expect many deals being available at 3 am. Probably better off going to sleep. Make sure to wake up before 9 am EST though, that's probably when the deals start pouring in.
 
Yeah, it's only the DOTD that gets posted early and the real deals come throughout the day. Not looking forward to those because they're always 100% claimed by the time you hit the button. :\
