That happens to any fighting game, and it is going to happen even more in Blazblue's case. HDR and SFIV sold rather well, but I'm sure HDR's community took a huge hit when SFIV came out. And I'm sure SFIV's community took a huge hit when whatever new big-name game came out that drove away all the people who were casual players. That's how this genre works.
Don't be upset at that, be happy about it. If Blazblue sells a lot, then it has more of an intiial chance to capture people. This pre-order bonus and the premium release are excellent tools to increase the base of users. Most of them will stop playing the game regularly in a pretty short order, as that is the way of thinngs. But sellling more copies means there is more of a chance that some people will stay and actually get into it.

And even if they don't, who cares? All fighting games have fanbases, and with online it means you'll likely never be without an opponent. So all that really matters is that YOU are interested.

And if you are getting this for PS3, I'd love to have a match with you.
There will be plenty of people playing this game trust me :) I know i'll be one of them playing. The art book is a bonus, so yeah, like many other bonus items, i want to make sure i get them as well. Of course, it's not the end of the world if i don't get it.
I wonder what your definition of 'plenty' is?

ASW fighting games sell very little units.

2D fighters in general don't do that well, man. But Arc System Works games have a dedicated fanbase that will keep playing, and with online that means there will be competition. As long as there are people to fight, does it really matter how many there are? We all know this won't have the popularity of any FPS or anything.

indeed i am, looking forward to a match or 20

oh yeah...i know what im getting into :whistle2:#

Im getting it with very low online expectations if any at all...maybe only several hundred will still be playing online a couple months after release. Then you have to consider how fun it will be playing the same people over and over again, plus your connection quality to those few players. Alot of newbies will be frustrated with this. Anyway, this is certainly a game i will enjoy on my own and with friends in a local setting.

As I have stated I was going to get the game no matter what because of my recent fighter binge since I got my Fighstick & Fightpad for 360. I even busted out some KOF & Guilty Gear for the PS2 & Xbox. :)

I agree with ape's beef with a lot of people and their reasons for ordering other than wanting to play it. It is happening quite a bit with RPGs too (Tales of Vesperia CE & Mass Effect CE in particular). I still have a little of collector in me but it makes me sad it is getting to be about money and not about the games anymore because I am a gamer first and collector second.

Playing with a small group means playing with a dedicated group. And playing with people at a high skill level is the best way to get better at a game. I'm psyched about the small, dedicated online community that this game will have.

A couple months from now I'll be surprised if there's more than 10 people online at any time. I have every fighter on the 360 and the only one people still actually play online is SF4. There's never anyone on DOA4, VF5, or Battle Fantasia.

I never really understood the whole pre-order bonus/CE craze that people get into... it's just a bunch of extra shit that's gonna take up space in your home, but hey.. to each their own. Still, if people think they're gonna profit off of this.. they got another thing coming. The only entities profiting off this game will be the creators and retailers.

Agreed!! Even after the huge following that SFIV has, I can tell the online play has slowed down a litlle bit. I can tell after 90 hours of online play

I knew a good number of players were going to move on to SF4, but I didn't figure it'd be this bad. As long as BlazBlue has a couple hundred solid players online and it uses good netcode (GGPO hopefully), I'll be happy.

From an earlier discussion on this thread and a 1up interview where they very clearly dodged the GGPO question, it seems they won't be using it. But hopefully it'll be solid regardless.

Man, having all these great fighting games come out all within a year is turning into a double-edged sword. We got SFIV, KOF, T6, MVC2, and BB splitting up online for the rest of 09' :cold:

And supposedly there's more to come!

I got Battle Fantasia a few months ago and tried to find an online game a number of times and could never connect to anyone. Besides SF4 the only other fighting game that has a lot of players is Soul Calibur 4. I never have problems getting a match there either and thats been out a while now.

As for BB I sure hope its online community lasts. There are still a small handful of us that play Guilty Gear X2 Reload online so there is hope :)

I'm sure these guys are constantly aware of how important their netcode is to the longevity of the game outside of hotspots like Cali.

Yeah dude... you're right. I'm super ultra hyped for Tekken 6, but I figured I would get another fighter to hold me over until that comes out (BlazBlue). That means I'll most likely be skipping right over KOFXII.

Anyone who order recently get it added to their order, eventually (artbook)? I just put in a preorder and it's not on mine.

Does gamestop know what if we dont get the artbook, most of us have no reason to keep our order? I really hope I get one (but I'll live if I don't)

As a company, Gamestop is probably aware that Amazon.com undercuts them on the prices of new releases by a few bucks. However, Gamestop is also aware that most consumers don't know that, and many of them probably wouldn't care due to the convenience/comfort of using a brick and mortar store.

LOL the reason to order is so you can get the game.. the art book is just a bonus.
Man, that's so obviously the case for the OST. Where else would the OST go into?
looks like it... I wish PS3 use that cover for its sound track... :(
I am jealous.

I can't manage to get BlazBlue back into my recommended items list on my prime account, even after buying KOFXII. Got it once before, didn't bite and it disappeared forever.

I'm still wondering if I should preorder the game or not. When do you guys think might be the last day to preorder the game from Gamestop so I can get the Bonus Art Book also?

GS said it many times that there is no guarantee that you will get the artbook, even if it's a line item in your order. What we can do is to shaft them by returning it for a full refund if we are not satisfied with the outcome.

At least I know what to buy during Gamestops next B2G1 free :applause:

- UFC 2009
- KOF XII
- ??? (maybe GH: Metallica)

No one can really answer questions like these. But the marketing rep from aksys did mention that they don't foresee any issues with everyone getting art books. Just get your order in asap anyway.

A book that will most likely be scanned within the day of its arrival at someone's house. Won't be tangible, but I find a high-res scan much more feasible for most purposes.

my PS3 happens to not read discs anymore. gonna send it in to repair like ASAP so that I can play BlazBlue when it comes out. it should be back by the time Blazblue comes out. actually, i think it would be back way before.

Well since this was bumped I saw this posted on a different message board by Aksys.
Keep going guys, we'll make sure to fulfill all artbooks.
Cool- I'll definitely drop some Gamestop credit on it then.
So a few questions:

1) Is the art book back in stock?

2) Any other coupons to sweeten the deal other than SAVER?
1 Yes, as is stated in this thread and on the website
2. No
So a few questions:

Actually, through 11:59 AM on 5/26, the coupon FREE29 will net you free 3 day shipping instead of 5-7 day saver shipping. It appears to be a memorial day coupon.

Not that I want to add any fuel to the fire, though I think people might want to start moving their GS preorders to Amazon or someone else, if they don't have the artbook listed in their order details:
Edward,

My order was placed on 05/08/09, which is on the outer-edge of the 2-3 week timeframe that you indicated that the art book was sold out. Due to that timefame, I would expect that I would be getting an art book, as the item was listed on the item page when I ordered it, as well as currently on the item page:

http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=74493

If Gamestop has been sold out of the art book for 2-3 weeks, why is it still showing it visible on the product page as a pre-order bonus at this moment? Even though it is "while supplies last", if Gamestop doesn't have it, why are they advertising it? Wouldn't that be bait-and-switch or some other deceptive advertisement?

Would it be a safe assumption that if my order details do not show the art book as an item for the order, I will not be receiving it?

Subject: Re: Changes to Order # XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting GameStop.com.

Unfortunately, while we are able to update some information on orders to assist with the verification process we are unable to update the requested information. Coupon codes must be applied during the purchasing of the item, and cannot be issued afterward. Also, the premium artbook for BlazBlue has been sold out for the last 2-3 weeks and Gamestop.com no longer has any of this item to issue. Please note that our website does state that premium items are on a first come, first served basis, and while supplies last. We cannot guarantee that every order will receive a bonus code, or premium item. We do apologize for the inconvenience.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to respond to this email.

Best regards,

Edward Customer Service Agent
To whom it may concern,

Please update Order # XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX with the following changes:

1) Apply coupon FREE29 to this order, so that the shipping on this order will be upgraded from SAVER shipping to ground shipping, at no change in the shipping costs. A new order would be placed for this item and the old order canceled, so that the shipping upgrade would be available on this order. As the item is limited to 1 per household, a new order cannot be placed if the old order is canceled. Please update the order with this shipping upgrade.

2) Please make sure the following promotional item will be included on this order:
PREMIUM, AKSYS ARTBOOK 1 0 $0.00 Backordered
This item is not listed on the order details, and is required to be added to the order details. Unless this is listed on the order details, there is no guarantee that the item will ship on this order.

As discussed a number of times, the free art book might or might not show up as an line item on your pre-order (depends when you ordered it i guess). Even if it shows on your pre-order, it doesn't guarantee you a copy. So basically, your guess is good as mines.

Do what most of us did, pre-order from GS anyway, if they don't ship the art book, simply return it. Of course, if your invoice has art book listed, there could be some complications, but i believe there's a post regarding that situation (i.e. e-mail GS).

Anything with "while supplies last" is a hit or miss. At this point of time, i kinda give up on this art book already, just waiting for the game.

Problem is that if they've really been sold out for 2-3 weeks on the art book, why are they still advertising it on the GS website? Regardless if it says "while supplies last" or not, if they don't have it, they shouldn't be advertising it as a pre-order item.

hear you man, the pain and all, i'm pissed too. However, that's the way it is with stupid GS. Let's just see how this one rides out. If i get it, great. If i don't, well, pissed of course, but i'm not gonna lose sleep over it.

Ill wait till this game goes on sale shouldn't be too long, also not worth it for me at least the art book.

Here's the latest email from them:
Hello from GameStop.com

The pre order bonus promotion you are referring to is:

Pre-Order BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger and receive an exclusive 32 page, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Art b..b..b..book.. Whoa, check out that cover. That's awesome. It's like the Mona Lisa of video game art book covers, except instead of Mona Lisa, its has this girl, and a dress, and a robot thing standing behind her. There's no way we're going to let them send any of these to stores; so you better order it online. Available for online customers only, while supplies last.

Online Customers: Exclusive BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Art book will ship with your game.

The promotion does state "while supplies last" as there is only a limited supply of these books provided by the manufacturer. We are also required
to list this promotion by the manufacturer until the game is no longer a pre order. These items are pre packaged with eligible games themselves and we are unable to determine whether your order contains this art book or not. We apologize for any confusion.

Best regards,
Gary
Customer Service Agent
Wow, they're throwing the vendor under the bus to say that they're the ones who are "making" them advertise a pre-order item they may not have. :wall:

Though, it does say they're pre-packaged with the game, so that'll be interesting to see who gets it and who doesn't.

I bet whoever uses saver will NOT get it due to slow slow processing. The people with the faster shipping will most likely get the prepacked artbook.

Just cancelled my order from GS. I'm not sure why I wanted to go with them. I really don't care for the artbook and just want to play the game. I'll stick with my Amazon order.

Amazon + ECA Discount= 51.xx

GS= 65.xx with tax

I'll take the savings over some artbook that will just collect dust on my shelf.

I placed my order on April 24 and am having 2nd thoughts... $14 saving from amazon instead of a relatively light artbook with the cover being the only thing that I really want... sigh... still have a month for me to change my mind. If it show up on my goldbox... ugh!

Knowing GS.com, older orders will probably get shafted compared to newer ones.
